My family ate at National Anthem and loved everything about it! I want to especially shout out our server, Jason, who made it an even better experience with his friendliness, knowledge, and recommendations. The food tasted delicious. You can tell that the chefs take great care to provide amazing food, no matter what dish you order. I can confidently recommend anything on the menu, but I can specifically recommend the pimento cheese spread, the baby back ribs, the crab cake melt, and the crème brûlée as stand outs of our meal. I came to national anthem a year ago and had the best burger ever and was so excited to come back tonight. Absolute terrible experience. Our server came to us 3 times, 1. Order drinks 2. Order food 3. Bring check. She never refilled our water once and I had to flag someone else down to get a condiment for my burger. Also, I said no tomatoe on my burger and it had tons chopped in that I couldn't take off. I would have said something if she ever came and checked on us. We were in and out in probably 23 minutes. Great place! We sat at the bar and the staff was so friendly and helpful. The espresso martini was super smooth and made with real espresso. The chocolate mousse really hit the spot and was exactly what you want and need. Definitely will be back to try some of the entrees! The restaurant is super cute and definitely has a great vibe. This place was walking distance from the majestic and we were surprised from the great food and great service. Will was our server and he did a bang-up job for us. He was very attentive, professional and knowledgeable of the menu and options. The concept there is about small plates so we started off with little thigh guys. Then moved to a cauliflower Big Bang and another menu item called meaty smalls and then shrimp sizzle. All of it was really good. Highly recommended. Of course, there's plenty of liquor and beer to choose from at the bar, which I wish I had more time to spend there because the bar was pretty nice. I hope to spend some time there to hang out. Walked in this restaurant and it was swarming with people on a Friday night; I guess everyone else had the same idea too! Although having reservations, there was a bit of a wait and we were seated near the bar facing the Main Street. This typically wouldn't bother me, but I was wearing a thigh dress and the high top chairs weren't suitable. Outside of that, our waitress was excellent. She was attentive, gave great suggestions, often refilled our waters, and even joked around with us. Let me say, their Mac and cheese was the highlight of the evening . I consider myself a mac n cheese connoisseur and I must say the truffle made it delicious and creamy. My salmon had a nice crispy and flaky texture and thoroughly seasoned how I desire. My significant other loved his steak so it's safe to say this place is worth a visit! read more

Delicious food and wonderful service! We went for dinner within the first month of their opening with others (6 total). The valet was easy to spot in front and close to the entrance. We had a reservation and we're quickly sat. Our server was prompt, knowledge about the menu and just overall nice. The food included great ingredients and was delicious! Not pictured - the cheeseburger (very interesting - it was a square patty!) super delicious! We also got the deviled eggs. They were classic. I hear they are putting a more casual eatery on the second floor of that building, above the restraunt. And a bar on the roof! We will definitely be back! read more

The food was great, the service was good, but the staff made us feel like we were being rushed to eat, pay and get out. It started with us being asked to clear our our appetizer because or meal was coming (okay we understood). But then we were asked if we wanted dessert before we completed our meals (bothersome but we ordered desert). Then the tab was placed on the table - checked 3 times (even after we moved it to indicate we were not done). We waited to order more drinks, but the waiter kept looking for the the payment. So, we paid. Then as we were talking, sipping on our final drinks the staff slowly cleared or table. The final straw for me was as I was drinking my water - I put my glass down and it was quickly cleared off the table. Rudest event every!! If the tables have limit; it should be mentioned when making a reservation. It was not like we ordered 1 drink and 1 appetizer. We order drinks, appetizer, entrees and dessert. A beautiful restaurant in the East Quarter in a timeless historic building. The food was delicious and the service was good. Get the bang bang cauliflower but skip the cookies and milk (they're just cookies and Yoo-hoo). My friends enjoyed the fish special and I had fish and chips (fresh and flavorful). My only critique would be the concept of National Anthem and the decor being cliche, non diverse representations of Americana. National Anthem is clearly a "date-night" kind of place. Large bar, high energy vibe, big drinks; you get the picture. However, sitting outside in the pleasant Dallas Indian Summer is another matter entirely. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner, interrupted only by the occasional roar of an unmuffled car parading by. The menu features a variety of fresh seafood, small plates, and hearty entrees. We started with the meatballs, which were cleverly served in an escargot dish; kinda "Swedish-ish", with a brown gravy that was fabulous. We also got the salmon "ceviche or crudo"; lots of silky fish in a pineapple/lime salsa. It was screaming for some heat, but not the kind that comes from a jar; it really needed some diced habaneros in the mix. Still, it was delicious. We also got the BBQ shrimp; properly large shrimp, properly cooked, and more importantly, properly deveined. The sauce was another winner; we sopped up every bit with the hot bread wedge thoughtfully provided for that purpose. To lighten things up, we got the Ensalada Ensenada; think a sort of Mexican Caesar with bits of elite style grilled corn throughout. It was a great palate cleanser. The wine list is brief, but interesting. We chose glasses of Chardonnay and Gruner Veltliner (yay for including this fantastic grape on the list); the pours were big and reasonably priced. All in all, a good meal for a good price. Recommended for grazing in the Dallas area. read more

What a treat this place was. The dinner menu was very diverse with lots of different options from meatballs to enchiladas to pasta dishes. I decided to try the tuna on toast, which was absolutely enough to be shared or as an entree. I also tried the rigatoni, meatballs and the enchilada side dish. Everything was great, perfectly seasoned, flavorful and the portions were perfect. The waiter was very accommodating to our strict schedule, polite and super friendly. I'm a corporate trainer and today's challenging class required an after school cocktail and it was delivered at the new addition to the downtown dinner scene at The National Anthem on Commerce. A spicy Blue Daisy cocktail (oh my, how niiiice), and a delish fish and chips! Not too greasy, not too overwhelming, garlic truffle oil on the shoe string crispy fries and even a surpassingly good coleslaw (never been much of a fan of slaw before)! This is a fairly new restaurant that my girlfriend has been dying to visit. I wasn't sure what to expect but it turned out to be a great overall experience. It's in the "new" East Quarter district. Space is limited so make sure you make a reservation. The ambiance definitely matched the name of the restaurant with a patriotic and Texas vibe. I was pleasantly surprised by the music. They were playing all the classic 90s hip-hop/R&B hits. The food was amazing. We ordered the pork chops, steak frites, pork belly, and the Reuben. The highlights for me were the pork chops, which uniquely incorporated a pancake base. I also thoroughly enjoyed the pork belly appetizer which just melts in your mouth. The drinks were good but nothing spectacular. I would honestly give them 5 stars if they added more unique cocktails. I really enjoyed this restaurant and think you should visit for food/drinks if you're in the downtown area. read more

I was really excited to dine here for my birthday after seeing it being restored and furnished the last few months. Firstly, the reservation process was very easy on Resy, street parking was easy to find and they also have valet. The layout feels a bit crowded given it's a relatively small space but the decor is very cute and the playlist was really great. The menu was all over the place it was very confusing to distinguish between actual entrees and the appetizers/small plates. Some entrees and drinks didn't have names yet or weren't available yet and I expect this will be rectified soon. Not a huge deal there. The food was the high point of the experience. My table ordered the pork belly, pork chops, steak frites, Ruben sandwich and the croc Madame sandwich (I think). For drinks we ordered the old fashioned, Espresso martini, Stark, and Every Rose has its Thorn. All of the food looked and tasted AMAZING; the pork belly and pork chops were the stars of the show. The drinks were good too. The servers were friendly and attentive and wished me a happy birthday which was nice. Overall I'm glad I checked this place out. I think it'd be a solid option for weekday lunch or possibly even brunch on the weekend. I'd recommend this place. read more

Walking in, the atmosphere of the restaurant was great! The decor, the lights, the big windows... pretty spot on! After being seated, our waiter Zach T. provided us with an amazing service, recommending some few items off the menu, announcing their specialty dishes, and giving us time to order! I had came here for dinner with a couple of friends and everyone thoroughly enjoyed our meal and expressed how good our meal was! Definitely will be coming back sometime in the future! Enjoyed our first experience at National Anthem. Getting a reservation was a breeze, as I was able to make one the same day at the last minute. Was a little concerned of this fact at first, but upon dining those concerns went away. Out of everything we had, the mussels were our favorite! The come in a creamy buttery spicy sauce that keeps you coming back with more bread for dipping! We liked the mussels so much that we came back a second time a few weeks after having dinner at another close-by restaurant, just for them! On our first visit, we also tried the fish and chips and steak frites. Unfortunately, the steak came out well done (yuck), instead of medium, but the server quickly resolved it and brought out a fresh plate with everything done correctly. Whatever sauce comes with the steak frites is enough reason to come. If I tried to describe it I would make it sound horrible but trust it's a great savory sauce. The stroganoff was pretty good. Valet greeted us and opened both doors. We entered the building to a smiling host. She tried to seat us next to a large group and accommodated our request to seat elsewhere. Our waiter was nice but was a bit robotic, aka lack of personality. He also handed our straws to us with his bare hands, YUCK. I had to ask a waitress walking by to give us another, she handed them with a napkin and saved the day. Everyone in the restaurant were smiling and nice. The food was good and I will be back. However, I want to go back and visit the upstairs steakhouse. It was beautiful up there. The host allowed me to walk around and view the space. While there the GM gave a tour of the wine room. The deviled eggs were my favorite and the chicken was seasoned and made to perfection. The only downfall was that they overbooked our party but luckily 3 people didn't show and we could be seated since there were less people. Please note they do not have a policy of all must be in attendance to be seated. Our issue was that the area they wanted to place us was already occupied and that couple decided to stay longer than expected. What a fun spot nestled in the corner of downtown! It was brighter and airier than we anticipated and the food lived up to the hype. Fun ties to the other restaurants in it's group (Town Hearth, Desert Racer, Neighborhood Services + others) but also stood alone well. We got fun cocktails, shared two apps and then split a steak, spinach and mac n cheese (they let you sub in for the frites). 10/10 would order again and will! The food was very good and the service was even better: I'd mentioned to my server Adam that I was staying at the hotel across the street, and after accidentally leaving my credit card at the restaurant...he brought it to the front desk! People don't go above and beyond much anymore in my experience, and I was very impressed and pleased that he took the time to return my card.
