Up early for the sunrise and a bit of morning shelling before turning up here for breakfast. Very friendly reception by the girl at the counter. She was very helpful as we placed our orders and paid. Covid precautions in place as we chose a table. Loved the artwork for sale on the walls and had intended to look at a couple more closely but it had become a bit busier and the ones I wanted to look at were right where the line of people coming in was and wanted to observe the 6 ft. rule. I had the crab benedict which was just meh. Lots of filler and no real crab chunks which I expected as I had specifically asked before ordering and was told it wasn't heavy on fillers. The hollandaise was really tasteless. Hubs enjoyed his egg and pancake combo breakfast though. My latte was good! Not really interested in returning to try again but who knows what will happen in another visit. We love breakfast out and sadly, there aren't really a lot of early choices here. read more

I absolutely love Native Cafe! I eat here sometimes for breakfast and sometimes for lunch. A wonderful brunch spot! The wait staff is always very kind and helpful. They do often have a wait, because it's so good! But with the gorgeous beach as your waiting room, it's so worth it! If you are visiting Pensacola beach, I highly recommend trying this place out! One thing that I can't get enough of, is the black bean soup for lunch. It's sooo good and satisfying! The salads are great too. They offer great drinks too. From the outside you would never guess this place to be more than a strip mall dive. Inside is a different story. Clean, brightly covered with some very good paintings from local artists hanging on the walls. A very unique menu from they version of different egg Benedict's to different breakfast burritos, biscuit and gravy. I got the fried eggs and bacon sandwiched between two "Native Caked"( pancakes). Post Covid they are only serving meal kits. So if your order Huevos Rancheros you have to assemble it yourself. No omelets available.. However they have booth crammed next to each other in the dining room. They offer eat in dining but you can't get a mug of coffee. I was told they can't use mugs because of Covid!? So everything is in Styrofoam containers and cups. Food was also cold, and not the quality we normally expect. I'm a full time beach resident and won't be back until they go back to their normal service. This may bring in some tourist but go to Dog House or wait until brunch and go somewhere else on our amazing beach. Definitely will not be back. read more

Stopped in for lunch--not crowded this Monday of Spring Break week. The crowds, as we've seen from time to time, really pack this place for breakfast. Flame sautéed Florida Fish Tacos made with mahi-mahi, topped with chopped tomato, bell pepper, cabbage and accompanied by a side of spicy, smoky chipotle mayo. Def a Florida variation. Three 8-inch flour tortillas (obviously bigger than traditional 6-inch corn tortillas you get at many other restaurants, especially West Coast) but a smallish portion of grilled, chunks of mahi-mahi. The mahi was heartily seasoned which masked the flavor of the fish. Overall the "bite" was tasty, piquant, slightly tart, mildly acidic.The menu advertised that it was supposed to come with "pico." However (see photo I posted), there was no pico de gallo anywhere to be found. The dish was served with a small side container of a cream-based tartar sauce as well as a chipotle mayo. A little of the accompanying Chipotle Mayo went a long way. Meaning, if you like spice, then go ahead and slather it on. At one point, as she placed the dish on our table, our (attentive and polite) waitress commented that there was new cook...seems he also included a piece of lettuce on one of the tacos. Am I being picky? "Just the facts, ma'am; just the facts" (as Dragnet's Joe Friday used to say). My Crab Pattie was just that....not a "Crab Cake," but rather a lightly browned, crispy coated, mushy-mealy (interior) patty. The crab flavor was quite evident and the patty was well cooked; it simply had the texture of a fish cake, rather than that of traditional crab cake. Served on a large bun with tomato, a few raw onion rings and lettuce, the patty was helped along with a very nice pink (tomato) mustard sauce. This sauce had nice character and likely would go well with several other dishes. Rounding out my plate was a side of well-made broccoli salad. Hight points: prompt, attentive service, very good value for the price. Low note: not quite what we expected in amount of fish or the texture of the crabby patty. Know this. There is always a line. The place is small but it moves fast. Local art and a locals only feel make you feel you've discovered a hidden treasure . . . and you have. Breakfast is top notch and the lunch is pretty darn good too. I've had everything from omelettes to breakfast burritos to plate sized pancakes to the famous fish tacos. I've yet to have a bad meal here. The service is always friendly and prompt. We make a least one stop at Native every beach trip. It is uniquely Pensacola Beach. read more

Great for lunch! Inside this little cafe that seats approx 50 guests is some great local artwork, delicious food and a staff that know how to have a good time. Our server Courtney was helpful, friendly and effervescent. I was really excited about my "angry native burger" with bacon added that when she saw my eagerness she said "I'm excited for you!" She also was great with recommendations and checking up on us as well as conversing and getting to know her tables. **There was a blonde girl with a ponytail finishing up side work when we came in and although it didn't affect our experience, she had a real attitude problem, especially in a small place where customer eyes are on everybody. read more

Getting our beach trip started off right! After the total disappointment yesterday in Kentucky, today's breakfast was a winner for sure. Located in a strip mall is this lil gem. It's not a hidden secret though as there was a wait but totally worth it. We ordered the classic eggs Benedict and sausage breakfast burrito. Both of us opted for hash browns. Side note: their hash browns are more like tiny home fries. They are amazing though. Whoever is back there seasoning those hash browns is doing an awesome job. I don't think the seasoning is a store bought one. It was salty and slightly spicy at the same time. I could've eaten two orders the sausage burrito wasn't anything spectacular. I mean it was good, but it was just your average, standard breakfast burrito but add that fresh hot sauce that is made in house to it and BAM....totally kicked it up a notch and we were off to flavor town. Now the real star here was the eggs benedict; perfectly poached eggs nestled on top of a crispy toasted English muffin. The Hollandaise sauce again was definitely made in house. Update: we have been multiple times now and I just can't break away from the eggs benedict. Every..single....time....they came out perfectly! We used to love coming here and it was our go to breakfast place on the beach for the last few years but after multiple hit or miss visits I just can't recommend Native Cafe to others in good confidence. It's not on a first come, first serve basis which can be frustrating. On a brighter note the coffee is delicious and strong and the food is good. The service is sometimes great! Kelly today was wonderful. It can be a good experience if you take a chance on it so that's why I'm rating 3 stars. I'm hopeful other experiences in the future will be more satisfactory than ours today. read more

It requires a poached eggs and a good amount of crab. Well nope! The crab cake was the size of a half dollar, the egg was over cooked and the hollandaise was "thick". They also have an issue with the "Shrimp and grits", "it's different!". They make a mean over easy egg though. Stick with ordering individually. The service is great. Glad we came across this place for brunch it was a quick drive from the pier or about a 20 min walk. Got there and for seated right away since it was just two of us. The seating there is really tight though. I had to get up to let one of the other tables out. But the food came out good and hot. I ordered the seafood omelet which had a good variety of seafood. It was fresh and great. My boyfriend got ala carte biscuits and gravy, bacon, and hasbrowns and he said it was all well cooked. One of the best things when you stick your fork in eggs benedict is that the egg runs right out. My egg was fully cooked. It was as close as you can get to fulled cooked poached egg. - now my friend who ordered the Arnold Benedict was cooked perfectly. It was probably just a little bit of bad luck for me. Wife took me there today. Sort of different (good) place. I got a regular cheese burger and fries. Burger was ok; better once I put some of their spicy mayo on it. Lettuce fresh, tomato ripe, onions must be a commodity- I would have like a whole slice. Fries were okay (I'm not a steak fries guy - they're too soft). I love this little place snack in the heart of Pensacola Beach. The shrimp chowder is rich and potato-y and the fish tacos were perfectly seasoned and dressed. We like everything here - even the t-shirts. The crab cakes are meh, but you can tell a lot of love and care goes into making them. Desserts looked delicious but alas, they were ready to close, so our check came first. This is a fun, funky place that feels local but has to be filled with tourists.
