I was very reluctant to have tree trimmers on the property again because some years ago I was sued when a worker was injured and his company refused to take care of him, so as the homeowner, I was on the hook. In crazy California, that's how it goes. Glad I had good insurance and didn't want to lose it. I did my research and found Pineda's tree care. Ernesto called and texted, came by and gave a very good estimate and even said he'd include removing a roof-high weed tree that had grown up along the rear of the house that the insurance hadn't even mentioned. Ernesto and a team of about 5 guys showed up the next day and I was very happy they were all outfitted with the proper safety equipment, including headgear. Very professional. They worked quickly, and well coordinated - obviously these guys had been working together for a while. In just a few hours they had a 40-foot overgrown pepper tree and an overgrown Juniper and the weed tree done and pulverized and the area cleaned! Today we had 3 very large pine trees trimmed and our greatest concern is always the furry friends that call these trees home. Other tree companies may scoff, but Mike understands and his crew always look before they cut. We greatly appreciate this. We also wanted to save branches to use in landscape around our yard. We've seen this at various So Cal parks and arboretums and like the way it adds to the "woodsy" feeling to the flora. The guys not only were courteous about this, they also regularly checked to see if we wanted any of the saved branches trimmed. Some yes, but some long ones will get a special arrangement and the guys helped haul those to a separate staging area. They tried to patch it with electrical tape but, of course, that failed and they tried to convince me that the pipe was no longer leaking even though the water meter said otherwise. Finally, after I refused to pay them and after weeks of delay, they made an effective fix. I noticed during the pruning, that they had dropped a sizable branch on the patio roof and punched a hole in it. When I checked a couple of hours later, the branch had been removed. After I pointed this out, they bought a piece of roofing material, which unfortunately, did not match the existing roof. They then patched the hole and assured me that the patch would last for "years". After they finished the job, they left the piece of unused roofing in the backyard. Next, I also saw that a large branch was drooping down from about 15 feet to ground level, something that no other pruner had done. I also saw a large partially dead branch had fallen on the roof and entangled itself in power lines. When I called their office, I tried to persuade them to send someone out to correct the problems, but the lady answering the phone said it had been 1 1/2 years since the job was done. When I tried to convince her that they should stand behind their work, she hung up on me.
