Finally had dinner here for the first time and tried to mull over a good reason to bring friends and just "chill" here. I can't find one, the portions are small and too expensive to justify coming here. That being said, I can't deny that what I ordered was very very delicious (oyster tacos and prawns). The oyster tacos looks like a tempura sushi roll, but has a skewer thru it. The prawn was very saucy and loved the charcoal smell to it. Be careful rolling the prawn into more sauce, it can get a bit salty after awhile. Had a few drinks, which I didn't taste much alcohol at all, but did enjoy the smell of oranges! Heard the hype and wanted to check it out? Give it a go, but I can't think of any other reason to randomly waltz in. read more

Amazing anniversary dinner at this "hot spot" restaurant located in the seaport area of Boston,what was once the home of Anthony's pier 4 is this seafood eccentric gem with Asian influenced small plates. The food gets ordered all at once and comes out a few plates at a time, actually very quickly, a little too fast for us,hoping we could spread it out a bit and savor our evening a little longer. That being said there wasn't a bad bite all evening. The Spoon tuna chips and dip was clean and fresh with just the right balance of umami. Grilled hamachi collar was fire. dandan noodles with Szechuan peppercorns and ground pork were spicy for sure but the kind you just want to keep taking another bite. Blistered shishito peppers, awesome. Don't miss out on the Japanese fried chicken, crunchy nuggets of deliciousness. Mushrooms ala plancha were a bit underwhelming but tasty enough. Delicious cocktails and friendly service, including an after dinner drink of plum sake on the house was a nice touch. Price point was good for the quality of the food. Highly recommended, would suggest taking a Lyft or uber if possible, busy area with limited and expensive parking. I have to add, while reading past reviews, I must have seen two or three that yap the food was too salty, nooo! Delicious! Compliments to the chef because everything was so well done and i don't get impressed easily! The tuna chips were amazing, love the rice cracker chips and how they paired with the minced tuna, the scallops were cooked perfectly! Gordon ramsay would be proud! I enjoyed the creamy seafood foam and veggies accompanied with it. The calamari is not your typical dish. Its fried shrimp on top of a bed of cabbage slaw and the dressing reminded me of vietnamese fish sauce but i think it was more of a thai style salad with mint leaves but none the less it was fresh and crispy! We also got the tuna poke and it was delicious! Nothing bad to say, the fish was fresh and ingredients just combined so well. The blue crab fried rice impressed me! You can see that they dont skimp out on the crab and has chili garlic and some sort of lime cilantro fish sauce on the side for more added flavor! Nice touch with the egg on top. The bone marrow was a tiny bit salty but flavorful. My favorite dish hands down is the peking duck, the buns were soft and the duck was perfectly cooked, crispy and juicy and the fat was rendered down well, they did not leave any crumbs with carving the duck because not only did they give us slices of breasts but the remaining duck scraps were topped on a bed of jasmine rice which had a slight hint of ginger, butter lettuce was great especially for those who do not want to eat it with the buns! And unlike your traditional chinese peking duck combo, they added mint leaves and pickled radish as optional topping and it just paired so wonderfully. I would say this was the best duck ive ever had and would definitely come back as ive enjoyed all the dishes here. Service was great! We had a truly enjoyable dinner experience here at Nautilus! Our server Val was welcoming, friendly, and guided us through their tapas menu to ensure we were getting the tastiest meals with a good balance between hot and cold, veg and protein, and excellent flavor profiles. The dishes are large enough to share for two people, we ordered six plates in total and there was more than enough food to take home leftovers. While we opted out of dessert, we did see their tres leches cake served that looked spongey and delectable. Would definitely recommend making a reservation as it was packed in on a Monday night. Came here on a Friday night, it was pretty packed even though we had come towards the end of the night. The restaurant gives off a fresh and modern vibe with a somewhat open kitchen and loud music. (good for people who like to scream while they eat and chat). Let's get started on the food. Crab fried rice 10/5: Let me tell you... this was the best fried rice I've ever had... even for $38, id buy this sucker again. It was that good. Each bite packed a mouth full of umami... it was a disco effing party in there. With every spoonful, there was a nice chunk of crab meat that made the dish worth it. BUT... here's the real banger to the dish, the chili sauce! I wanted to lick that s**t off the plate because it was so good. Take a spoonful then add some of that beautifully lightly sour and spicy sauce on top - your mouth will thank you later! Oyster tacos 5/5: These were perfectly cooked, you could see how much thought they had put into the concept of the dish. The oysters were fried lightly but it was still crispy AF, which I like. The sauce (honestly don't remember what was on it) but it was a nice add-on to the dish. Peking duck 7/5: Got damn, this was pretty damn expensive but it was well worth it. I've never had such good peking duck before. The duck was juicy, succulent, moist, and tender. EVERYTHING you want in duck. Perfectly cooked in its own fat that gives the flavor an extra UNF. The baos were soft, fluffy, and cloud-like... honestly what's not to like? Pair it with the duck, the lettuce, and the sauces? Don't mind if I do! Absolute banger of a mini peking duck bao sandwich! Is it worth the hype? Yes. Is it worth $120? Yes probably. Overall, the service was incredible - servers checked up on us frequently and everything was bought out at the right time. Overall experience is okay, but appreciate the chef's effort to be creative with Asian fusion. Ambience is cute and small. I really wanted to like this restaurant since my friend recommended to come here for dinner. I believe it's overpriced for the quality of food and on top of it asking for a voluntary 4% kitchen fee, seems a bit much. This is coming from an upscale restaurant located in Seaport and has a couple of different locations? I understand times can be hard, but I also don't think it's appropriate to put the cost on customers rather than owner. TLDR: Good if you're a Seaport-vibe crowd, expensive and rigid with their rules. Note - I've never eaten in the Nantucket location but have heard the vibe is very different. The food is fine - reminds me of Myers and Chang, asian fusion with lots of seafood options. Good if you're vegetarian or pescatarian. It's pretty expensive, with the wines at a minimum of 16$ per glass. They are pretty rigid - if you make a reservation and can't cancel within 24 hours, they will charge you 50$ per person for the reservation. Unfortunately, the restaurant is only open in the evenings and there isn't a direct email to contact if you are looking to talk to someone about this. I completely understand fees but this isn't a prix fixe and it is a popular restaurant with little issue of walk ins. They also will tell you to order all at once and will come out when kitchen is ready (totally fine since it's not a coursed spot). We ordered 5 dishes between 2 people, and still felt like we could do another dish as we were still hungry so ordered another one at the end - the server told us she had to check with the kitchen if that was still doable as we did not order everything at one go. Those gripes aside, the spot is fun, lively, can get very loud. The clientele when we were there ranged from girls wearing Alo yoga pants to couples dressed up to the nines - so...Seaport Boston :). read more

Let me tell you about one of the best dining experiences I had in seaport. Let me start with service, the waiter that was taking care of us must of had 5 other tables but was super detailed oriented. The picture below was their Peking duck. So freaking delicious, it was juicy and succulent with lots of flavor in the rice. The spices were just right! The view of seaport was nice and the interior of the Resturaunt was modern. Definitely a good place to grab a quick drink or a full meal. read more

We have been wanting to come here for a long time but never could get a reservation in time. For this time around we did book a month in advance for our party of 6. The wait was worth it. The ambiance was nice but definitely crowded. It wasn't hard to hear each other when talking as the space is pretty spread out. The service was prompt and the food came out very quickly. We did order the duck, which you have to order in advance before ordering anything else as it does take awhile for the kitchen to prepare the duck. Otherwise, everything came out as they were ready. It is tapas/family style with intention of sharing everything. The portions were relatively small and they did recommend having about four to six dishes per person. We ordered for a party of six about 8 dishes and one of them being the duck. Of the food that we ordered, the knockout ones were scallops, calamari salad, and the street corn. The scallops were cooked to perfection with a nice sear and a nice side of sauce. The calamari salad had the perfect seasoning with a great umami flavor. Overall, a great place to get food and drinks especially if you want to impress out of towners. Recommend you at least try this restaurant once! read more

Dined at Nautilus for the first time last night 12/2/23. The food was amazing. The flavors over the top. Very good service, despite it being a busy night/holiday parties etc.. The menu is extensive and there are many options to choose from, even for vegetarians and vegans. The drink menu and wine list did not disappoint. Nice ambiance. Lovely decor. For some reason I thought this would be more of a seafood place, but it's a variety of different foods. The noodle dish was good. This is the best restaurant in New England. Don't walk - run - to Nautilus. I've been lucky enough to dine here twice, since they opened, and both times were mind blowingly good. The peking duck is life altering. The breast is extraordinarily juicy, while the skin is uber crunchy. The rice packs flavor and the confit duck is cooked expertly, as well. The accompanying sauces should be sold as 'holy trinity'; they're so tasty that I would happily drench my cell phone in them and eat it. Another stellar item, which is making my mouth water right this second, was the blue crab fried rice. Another perfectly balanced dish: salty, fatty, umami, acidic - all with a creamy type texture and luscious crab. I also loved the fried oyster "tacos"; the Asian play with the nori wrap instead of a tortilla was/is genius, and the oyster was still the star - nicely salted and perfectly fried. The atmosphere here is electric; I am sure the kids call it "a vibe". Its dimly lit, exquisitely decorated, and the 90's beats are bumping. Service was a delight, both when we dined at a table and at the bar. And speaking of the bar, their drinks are off the charts, especially the TB12 and the Kermit. They offer natural wines to boot. I wanted to try some food that was a little bit different, so Asian fusion seemed like the right thing to do. Nautilus Pier 4 was only a 15 minute walk from my hotel room, so I gave it a go. I walked in, but they were full, so they sat me outside. It was a little chilly, but not bad, plus not having to wait, was great with me. The service throughout the night was really good. The server was very friendly. I ordered the greens, prawns and fried rice. I absolutely loved the greens. They had a great flavor. I downed them quickly. The prawns were good, but not great. They were nice sized though. I probably wouldn't get them again. The fried rice was disappointing as you had to add the sauces that were provided to get it flavor, but the sauces weren't great. The fried rice was full of crab which was nice, but just was kind of blah. For the price, I would have expected it to be a GOAT type meal, but it didn't live up to that. So I would go again. Then get the greens and try some of the other foods. They have a bunch of options, so there would be plenty to try. read more

Perhaps the best octopus dish I've ever had. Cocktails were very good, strong with a great menu. We sat outside, which is a nice patio on the pier. OMG! Everything was amazing. Started at the bar waiting for our friends. Drinks and appetizers were good. Bumped into Robert Kraft, owner of the Patriots. Had a great meal with my friends and business partners. Everything was awesome. Day Scallops were great (my favorite), pork buns were awesome, Japanese street corn (my gfs favorite), oysters escabeche was an awesome experience, squash blossoms we ordered them again, and the blue crab rice. This is a swanky and fun restaurant in the Seaport. If you're in the area, it's worth a drink or a meal with friends, but probably not a second visit. The food is pretty good, with an eclectic selection of seafood, noodles, and dumplings. Cocktails are creative, but fall short in execution. Everything is just... fine. It's the sort of restaurant I'd call "faux upscale." You pay a huge premium (and I mean it--it's very, very expensive) to be in the area and for the beautiful interior, but it's all flash and little substance. The food pales in comparison to a restaurant like Myers and Chang, whose menu would satisfy the same craving. But if you're in the Seaport, Pier 4 is beautiful, the restaurant buzzes with music and conversation, and everything is really pretty good on the whole. read more

We had dinner for 4. Service was good but a little inconsistent. Some of our dishes that were brought out were explained to us (what is the dish) some were not. Some dishes were outstanding like the radish cakes oyster tacos. Some were waaay too salty. Including the Wagyu beef, mushrooms BBQ ribs. It was disappointing losing so much flavor to salt. The place is well designed and has nice decor. At this price point the food should be better / more balanced. 2.5-3 stars for the food. Mainly due to the unbearable salt content on more than half of the dishes. 3 for service and 4 for decor. I got a $64 glass of wine and the sommelier just came and dropped off the wine at the table. She might as well have said "here is your f-ing wine" read more

Amazing sauce very good -shiso hand rolls: 7/10 lacked sauce -beef tataki: 10/10. Location is nice since it's by the water and we were seated outside. The interior of the restaurant is pretty and the bar area is lovely. The bathrooms are unisex which is disgusting since I walked in after a male patron and the toilet and the floor around the toilet area were full of urin! Service is slow and hectic, maybe because short of staff which is understandable. Had a few drinks and didn't like any of the mixes so I stick with wine. The food menu I am not so sure about, the scallops were perfectly cooked but too salty. The blue crab fried rice were soggy, beet salad was sour, the spoon tuna chips & dips were mushy and not chunky. Nautilus is an absolute must when in the city of Boston or on Nantucket. I've been to both locations numerous times and the consistency and attention to detail remains at a very high standard. I've had both large tables of 8-10 and just a table for my wife and I. The tapas style menu is perfect for either large or small groups and everything ( yes literally EVERYTHING) is amazing. My personal favs are the bao buns, the day boat scallops, Japanese fried chicken and the Dan Dan noodles. For cocktails you can not go wrong, but my all time fav is the Teach Me How To Dougie. The vibe is eccentric and lively. Decor is nautilus/sea captain ish' which is obv very fitting. I'm very much looking forward to visiting the Nantucket location in August!
