South Street Diner was one of the few places open that early, so I decided to give it a try. Parking was easy at that hour, and I thought it was kind of cool seeing a classic diner tucked in among all the large office buildings downtown. I was in the mood for pancakes and ended up ordering the diner special with eggs over medium, home fries, corned beef hash, bacon, and pancakes. Unfortunately, the food was mostly average to below average. The eggs were a little underdone, the home fries were slightly overcooked in spots, and the toast was pretty standard diner fare. The homemade salsa was actually a nice touch and added some flavor to the potatoes. The biggest disappointment was the corned beef hash. I was hoping for something homemade, but it reminded me of the canned version I grew up eating. The texture and flavor just weren't for me, and I ended up leaving most of it behind. The pancakes were okay but a little dense and doughy, nothing particularly memorable. On the positive side, the coffee was decent, the service was fine, and being open early is definitely a plus for travelers. Overall, I'd put this one close to 3 stars. It's convenient if you need breakfast before sunrise, but the food didn't quite live up to what I was hoping for.

Our new burger and fried chicken spot!…read more This place deserves every positive review it gets. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome, the service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. You can tell they take pride in what they do, and it shows in every part of the experience. If we could give it 7 stars, we would. Great food, great people, and great service. We'll definitely be back!

I don't have anything to compare the smashed burger to because this is my first time trying a restaurant quality smashed burger. I'm a little torn if I like smashed burgers or beefy burgers lol I must say though, their burgers are seasoned well. I'm sure it's just salt and pepper but it's enough! The edges had enough burnt edges. I did a double with Yeanie sauce. I'm going to give the burger a 8/10. I wish my burger had more onions. I also tried to loaded fries. It was a little overwhelming LOL there was alot going on including 2-3 different sauces including cheese. I'll give it a 7/10. A little more light on the sauce would be better but that's just my preference. I was told that the tenders were amazing. I ordered that for my son and he loved it. I agree, the tenders were pretty damn good. My wife tried the Nashville chicken sandwich . She rate it 7/10. The slaw inside the sandwich was amazing. The sauce itself was ok. She wish there was a little bit more of a kick to it. Overall, I would definitely come back to get their burgers. Just once in a while. Reasoning is, it's a bit expensive. You do pay for what you get and that is good quality dishes. But $13 for a burger that doesn't come with fries can be a little steep... Definitely come and give it a try!

Homestead Bakery is a gem, no doubt. The thing about their food is this: no matter what you order,…read moreit's going to be made well. You really can't go wrong on that front. Case in point--the turf bagel. I love it so much that sometimes it's hard for me to order anything else. Drinks are a mixed bag for me. Their matcha (hot or iced) is solid, but I always need to sweeten it. The limeade was too bitter for my taste, and the rickey-style drink didn't quite hit my sweetness preference either. Chai (both hot and iced) is nice, but definitely add vanilla. Next on my list to try? The grilled cheese. I've been coming here for years, and the space is not big, but when it gets packed -- good luck. There are barstools facing the window and smaller tables throughout, but navigating the space can be tricky, so I wouldn't call it fully accessible. Still, the atmosphere makes up for a lot--it's got that community café element that I personally love. Overall, Homestead is the kind of place you want to experience for yourself: come for the food (which will always deliver), try the drinks with your own preferences in mind, and soak in the sense of community.

I was TODAY years old when I learned that Forest Hills Diner has some amazingggggggggg food. I flew in this morning to check on my grandmother and decided to grab breakfast with one of my best friends before heading over. She had been raving about Forest Hills Diner, so of course, I had to go. It was early in the morning, so the foot traffic was slow. The restaurant was very clean, and as soon as we opened the door, the gentleman behind the counter was very welcoming, offering a warm greeting and a big smile. As I was at the counter exploring the menu, I was excited to see the variety of options offered. There literally was so much to choose from, and I wanted one of everything. LoL! However, I decided to get the Beef Smoked Sausage on an English Muffin with Home Fries, add Onions, Extra Onions, Well Well Well Done... The Beef Sausage was well done and juicy. The smokiness was super flavorful and let the natural beef flavor shine, yet it held its own lane as well. The sandwich also had a generous portion of meat and was well worth the price. The Home Fries were absolutely amazing. They were done the exact way I ordered them. They were very well seasoned and the crispiness of the edges paired with the softness of the middle, OhEmGeeeeeeeeeeee... I want more now. LoL!!! As I was eating, the foot traffic definitely picked up, and it was so heart-warming to see the guy behind the counter welcome people by name as they walked through the door. This is a representation of TRUE service. The kind of survive that you don't see anymore. Not to mention, the charm of a local spot where the people know your name. Ha Overall, my experience at Forest Hills Diner was superb. Not only was it an experience worth promoting, but it was also so amazing that I will ensure I come back whenever I am home and in the mood for breakfast. The go-to will be Forest Hills Diner. Food. Service. Ambiance. And Cleanliness, all above standard.

It's Saturday morning, sothere'ss about a 20-minute wait. Reasonable. I started off with a giant grilled blueberry muffin and medium coffee. Deliciousness. All I've got to say is that this is a solid choice with all of the basic amenities available. I hope y'all never change.
