This is a tale of generally high expectations (4.6 stars!) and rather low experience. First time taking out and ordered spring roll, larb, pad see euw and panang curry. Sad to say every dish was off. Spring roll tasted of old oil; larb was strangely sweet but lacking any depth of flavor; the pad see euw was similarly bland and a bit oily; the curry was watery and only had chicken and 2 types of lazily chopped bell pepper--shockingly lacking in character and form. Now, I realize the restaurant's geography, and I live nearby. I get it : West Side Thai is never going to be as good as Valley Thai, which rarely gets close to Thai Town. However, we deserve better than this, especially for the price. Ayara remains the top dog in these parts and one to aspire to. Take notes, Nawa. Hope you improve. read more

I've had food delivered from this place multiple times and would usually order yellow chicken curry. I actually think that they make one of the best yellow curry in town. Now if you're a vegetarian, you will love how abundant the potatoes, carrots, and onions is in the entree. However, if you order it with chicken like I did, you would think that they gave you scraps of thinly sliced chicken that you'll be lucky to have at least 8 pieces. The dish is $21 and I ordered 2 and a passed ew that's $22. So imagine paying almost $80 for the food, delivery, and tip and finding out that you have to scrape the bottom of the container to make sure you get all chicken out because if you blink, you won't see the chicken. This happened multiple times in addition to the food rate not always being consistent. Such a disappointment. It's a waste of money to order from this restaurant. read more

My family and I tried this place for the first time and were so glad we did! After our stop at El Porto Beach, we were craving Thai food but weren't quite up to driving 35+ minutes to our usual Thai place in Beverly Hills. After a quick search on Yelp, we found Nawa and made our way over. We ordered the pad see ew, Tom kha soup, wings and pad Thai and the food came out pretty quick! My family loved their orders. Everything was tasty and just the right portions. I was able to half a pad see ew dish with my 10 year old and we were completely satisfied. The interior is really cute and cozy with a modern tropical feel. Parking was easy on a Saturday night as there is a parking structure across the street. Parking is hard to find during dinner hours; even the small parking lot was full and we had to circle several times to find street parking. This place is cute, but small. Beets are obligatory with Thai food so we ordered some Singhas. We shared some shrimp curry, some chicken pad Thai, and some beef basil. All were very tasty, but honesty, we ordered the curry spicy and it came back pretty mild. I know that if we had ordered the same in Thai Town, we would have gotten it Spicy. We have a go to thai place but I'm glad we gave Nawa a try. Their service, quality, and taste are all amazing. Best items from what we tried: Tom Yum soup, drunken noodles, crab fried rice, and crab rangoon. Panang curry were good but too sweet than needed. One thing I wouldn't order again is a fish cake. They did not even taste like fish at all. None of us liked it. It tasted like some sort of soy patty although it was a fish patty. We also did not like the wings. It was dry and mild. We had a 9 year old in our group who couldn't eat his food due to spice and they were so accommodating, they gave a new non spicy plate for the kid. Spice level here was slightly higher than other thai places we've been to. I usually order medium, but it was a little more spicy than normal medium. It was great experience and I can't wait to go back. It's in a great location with parking right across the street. Came here after watching the chargers game, looking for some good thai food close to the beach. Came upon this place, they have plenty of street parking (or they did when we were there), you just have to pay to park there. The inside is somewhat large, with multiple tables and chairs throughout. THey have several large screen tvs. One had the game on, another had a traveling and cooking channel on. Which is all good and stuff, until they show them butchering some small mammel and de-gutting it and making blood drinks and food out of the blood, it was extremely offputting. It was pretty disgusting. We ordered several things. Including their tom kha (spiciest level), pad thai, chicken satay and their crab fried rice. First off, the tom kha was amazing. It was really good. A little too spicy for me, but not for the one who ordered it extra spicy. But the depth of flavors was amazing. The coconut taste was prevalent throughout. And it tasted like it had been cooked for hours on end, just developing flavor upon flavor. The chicken satay though was not good at all. It was so overcooked that the chicken was almost like leather. It was dry and chewy. And just not good. Without the peanut sauce it tasted even worse. The crab fried rice was ok. Not much flavor there as well. Good amount of crab throughout, but it just was so so. Maybe needed some chili sauce or something on it or fish sauce. Overall it was an ok place. No views of the ocean right behind them. Interior was simple. Service was fast. Price was fair. For 4 dishes and the chicekn satay with tip, the 4 of us paid about $25 each. But it was just so so. If everything had as much depth of flavor as the tom kha though, it would be a definite 5 star review, but since it didnt, it gets a middle of the line review. read more

Walked in and were seated quite quickly. Not a big place but very inviting especially from the staff who met us with warm smiles and hello's and seated us immediately. Ordered appetizers of Chicken Satay and Cream Cheese Wontons (not pictured). Didn't think to take pictures but they were light and not heavy with oils with loads of flavor. Immediately came the Chicken Noodle and Yellow Curry so very quick in bringing these beautiful meals to us. My friend got the Chicken Noodle and raved at how tasty it was. I got the Yellow Curry mild. The sauce was so full of flavor and had been made to sit and just get better while it sat. Just a bit of bite and not overly curried or with coconut milk. They had Green and Red Curry as well so the choice of protein doesn't sit and marinate which would have made it even better along with the veggies in it but I understand. My tongue and sinuses loved it! The coconut ice cream was fresh made in house as well so was really refreshing and delicious after a bit of spicy meal. This was definitely not a one time visit! Parking can be a bit difficult across the street but be patient as the food and service are worth it. 10% discount if you pay in cash! I visited Nawa Thai in May 2024 and I loved the food. However today I order a delivery order via Uber eats. The pork drunken noodles order that I received, the flat rice noodles in it were all soggy, squashed and disintegrated to nothing and it had pork and veggies only. I assume it was because the dish was hot but the restaurant should have Atleast waited for the dish to a cool a little before packing it.
