My happy place. Best falafel I've ever had and I've had quite a bit. I'm 1/4 Lebanese and this place makes me think fondly of cooking and eating with my Grandpa. When you walk in your mouth begins to water at the smell of the meat on the spit. The cashier remembers me everytime and is always full of energy, the food in served quickly and is always made to order. You must try their baked goods when you're there as they are also a bakery. Hidden hole in the wall, but one of the best places to eat. I'm obsessed with the spinach pie egg roll, I make sure to get one every time. read more

Nazareth has been a staple in our dine-in lineup. The sandwiches are varied and unique, the dinner/plate specials are always excellent and have big portions. I tried out the chicken gyro on this visit and instead of a pita, which I was accustomed to, it was put in a pita pocket! It's a different texture and flavor, but holds a lot more food. A favorite side is their "spinach pie," which looks like an eggroll. I'm not usually a fan of spanakopita, but this is a unique flavor worth trying out. Really delicious authentic middle eastern comfort food. I had the chicken shawarma platter...came loaded with meat on top of mouth watering pita slices. I chose humus and double falafel for the sides....for $12 I left with an extremely happy tummy, a shirt with hummus stains, and the taste of food like I had back home. I hate to leave bad reviews for places so I don't, but trying pretty much all the other middle eastern joints in the neighborhood this place takes the cake without a hesitation. I've been here countless times and I don't think I could ever get tired of their food. I always get the Alexander Kabob platter (did you know that dish is named after Alexander the Great because it was his favorite food?) and it's fantastic, the employees are always so polite and friendly every time I come in; the beverage selection is incredible and there is a meal for anyone, I've taken very picky eaters here and they had only good things to say. I always have to get a snickers cookie and it's fantastic! There is also a little store section that supplies lots of teas and chutneys, very cool! Wow. What a unique spot. Went around lunchtime on a Wednesday. Parking lot was full. Upon opening the grease-smudged glass door, you are immediately overwhelmed by a thick cloud of greasy smoke. I ordered a shawarma sandwich and my wife ordered a chicken gyro. We also ordered some baklava, all to-go. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and we quickly escaped to the fresh air outside. I ate my sandwich while driving home. The pita bread was great. The sandwich was loaded with meat. So much meat for $7.99! Lots of delicious tahini sauce as well. The meat had a lot of gristle in it, but I chewed my way through it. My wife had her gyro at home and said it was good. This would be a good spot to visit if you want a lot of meat for your dollar. I pity the people who work here though. All that smoke can't be good for your lungs. A-OK for that Mediterranean food craving. Ordered takeout; as much as I love a big portion, everything was literally all smushed together. Chicken kabobs, pita bread, salad, hummus and cucumber sauce all jam packed into 1 flimsy styrofoam takeout box. Even though it was messy and inconvenient to eat, the food was pretty good. The chicken and cucumber sauce were both tasty. Since the pita bread was shoved into the takeout box with everything else, the bread was soggy and dense. I did not care for the hummus. I thought the baklava was good: crispy with a nice flavor. If I ever should decide to come back, I would like to try a beef kebab with some rice and salad and I would prefer to dine in because I would not like the takeout experience to be like the first time. Huge portions of delicious food. I got the chicken gyro platter with rice, hummus, and baba ganoush. My husband had the shawarma platter with falafel, spinach pie, and Greek salad. Everything was amazing and super flavorful. My favorites were the shawarma meat and falafel, which were the best I've had in a while. They also give you this delicious hot sauce if you ask. We're big eaters but we left stuffed and with enough leftovers for 2 more meals. You can't find value like this anymore. Also the people working here were so kind and friendly. I have always loved the Nazareth Bread company. They have some of the freshest Middle Eastern food that you can get in Greensboro. I usually get the falafel, which is so moist and perfectly cooked and spiced each time, and the stuffed grape leaves, which remind me of my childhood and are so tasty, and a side of the rice, which is so tender and well seasoned. My wife tends to go for the lamb, which she always says is well worth the price. Very authentic food as well. The baklava is always fresh, and they even offer two different kinds, almond and pecan. We tend to get a lot of food when we come here, mostly so that there are leftovers for work lunch the next day, which tells you how good the food is. We don't eat in very often, but the atmosphere is very pleasant when we do eat in. Overall, definitely recommend. read more

Wow. This place makes other Mediterranean restaurants feel bad about themselves. It's not glossy and it's not polished. And you wouldn't want it any other way. Instead, it is good, honest, homemade food which very obviously derives from family recipes, served in enormous quantities at reasonable (bordering on downright CHEAP) prices. With over 200 reviews I really don't know what new I can say. So I'll just reiterate. Yes the inside is rundown and not great looking. But it's obvious they put their time and effort into the kitchen. The lady taking our order was so sweet and kind and patient when we had questions, and described everything so well (like how the grape leaves were heavy in lemon flavor). The food is amazing!!! Everything I ate was soooo good I could have ate till I was stuffed and sick. I got the beef (because sadly they were out of shawarma). But it was so tender and flavorful! My husband got the trio, lamb, beef and chicken and it was all just as yummy. And I don't like lamb by itself. But I would have eaten a pound if I could have. Every side we got was better then the last... salad, pita bread, hummus, spinach pies, and grape leaves! Oh the grape leaves. I haven't had grape leaves that good since I was in Greece! (Although I wish they had a version with meat) And everything is so well priced! My husband got 3 large pieces of baklava for $4!!!! Everywhere else you pay that much or more for one piece! After several visits, ordering the chicken kabob platter, I was in the mood for a burger so opted for their mushroom burger. It was huge! Pretty sure there were two patties on that thing. It was hard to tell because the provolone had been melted and was oozing out of the bun. Grilled onions, garlic mayo, lettuce and tomato were all outstanding. This is a great burger my friends. I do not know where to begin with this review, seeing as the good food taste and prices are not up to scratch with the interior of the restaurant. That is 3.5/5 for the food, as the stodgy quality of the rice and the poor tasting humous let the score down. The prices are reasonable, and not hard on the pocket. So 5/5 for pricing. In terms of the interior, oh dear. I honestly do not know why they haven't thought of mopping the floor once in a while, cleaning the seats, or making the tables actually appear like food is meant to be put on them. This goes for the lack of cleanliness of their toilets also. This is why the review score is low. (1/5 for interior). I honestly hate sitting inside the restaurant, you have to avoid looking at anything else aside from your food. I hope that they can improve on these pointers. The minute you walk in you know you need to wipe your feet on the way out. The service was quick and prompt, and they had a large variety of menu items. The food wasn't that great, the lamb was over cooked, and chicken was bland --I'm assuming it was chicken. The prices were quite cheap, and there was a ton of seating. The recent article in Our State Magazine featuring this neat Middle Eastern restaurant reminded me that we had not visited in a while, so that was cured with a dinner take out order recently. The menu here is not especially broad, sticking primarily to the usual Middle Eastern choices, with a few burger choices thrown in for the unadventurous mother-in-law, or the petulant child with an attitude. We chose the Grilled Chicken Chop Platter, the Alexander Kabob Platter, and the Mixed Grill Platter, each with pita and THREE sides! We tried all the sides - FFs, Greek Salad, Hummus, Tabouli Salad, Cole Slaw, and Rice. All the meat dishes were excellent, perfectly char-grilled, and loaded with flavor. The Chicken Chop Platter is a favorite because they use thighs rather than breast, and the meat is tender, not at all dry or overcooked. I would suggest that you ask for the sauce on the side, and apply it yourself, especially if you get take out Of the sides, the Cole Slaw was very red, and very wet, and the taste was overpoweringly sweet - this is not a side I'd order again because of the taste, and because the liquid from it got on everything, not a good thing. The FFs were FFs. All the other sides were very nice, especially the Hummus - it is rich, tons of flavor, without too much garlic. The pita here is made in house, and is exceptional, as are all the bread items I've tried here.
