First time trying Habit after a few friends were raving about when they had it in California. We decided to go try it out for lunch. I just read the reviews and saw that they are char grilled burgers, so it takes a while. Which honestly was my biggest gripe, it took forever for us to get our food. While waiting on food the manager turned off the music, locked the doors & said to the 4 tables inside that "our lobby is now closed, if you're waiting on food you can stay but no one can eat inside". This was my first trip (but not for my husband or kiddo) and I liked it. Burgers aren't my favorite food but I had a deal with a free charburger with purchase of a drink. The burger was well seasoned and the bun was good too. We ordered at the kiosk and that would be my only complaint. The toppings were either "no change" or "no" which as someone who hadn't used the kiosk before meant I overlooked adding mustard to my burger. No big deal, they gave me a few packets and I added it myself. I just know better for next time. My daughter got the grilled cheese sandwich and I was impressed. We both tried it and it was great! I stopped in this relatively new location for Habit Burger (opened last year) because I've eaten at two locations, both of which closed in the last year or two - one in Burlington and one in Clemmons. The sandwiches here are grilled to order over charcoal, so the time will be in the 10 to 15 minute range, depending on the amount of traffic. Due to the cooking method, this is not a smash burger, and there really is a minimal amount of smokiness. This is a small beef patty burger, 3 ounces, and it is dressed with caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo on a toasted bun. This burger costs $7.86, meaning the cost per ounce of beef is $2.66, the same as the Little Cheeseburger at Five Guys (3.3 ounce patty)! This is an expensive burger - by comparison the burger at Nick's is 5.3 ounces and sells for $6.30, $1.19 per ounce, and it is much better burger! I tried the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and while it is a decent size and flavor, at $9.99 it is more overpriced than the burger. The sandwich at KFC is larger, better tasting and sells for $4.99, $5 less! These food here is ok, but they are very overpriced. I can't see a return here. I live on Battleground so I remember when this spot was Chick-Fil-A not too long ago and I'm really trying to figure out why Habit Burger thought this was a good move considering their food at least to me is SO much worse. I decided to try their food the other day when I was on my way to a friends house because I needed something quick to eat. When I tell you the food is not good, I REALLY tried my best to like it. The bread really didn't even taste or look done. I ordered the most basic burger there is because I don't like a lot of toppings so I just got the Charburger with lettuce and tomatoes, no mayo. I ate my burger without the bottom half, as it was almost white.. It definitely looks totally different from the pictures (which we always expect but this was a little too different). The fries were okay but I really didn't even finish them, they were somewhat salty as well, but I'm not taking any stars away for that because I just don't like much salt. When I ordered my food I literally told the drive thru person what I wanted after he asked and he sat there in silence for like a minute after I completed my order and then said okay, what do you want? I was like umm...okay and just repeated it. They did get my order right so that was good and I got a strawberry limeade and I will say that was really good! The burger patty itself was good too but the bread just made it almost inedible at least to me and also the burger looked very much just thrown together and I wouldn't be surprised if they used some cheap kraft sliced cheese really as well..because it kind of tasted like it. I'm glad I tried it but it'll be a hard pass on going back unless I just decide one day to give them another try, honestly I would rather have McDonald's down the street and that's saying a lot. Was so excited to try this place as it's from my home state, California! When you walk in the smell of char is heavenly. They have self serve ordering which I do not care to use. Ordered our lunch at register the service was kind, helpful and quick. My Santa Barbara Char was so good. Only thing I'll change for next time is to cook the sourdough bread a bit more. Hobby's burger was good. We like the options at the pepper bar and drink station. Love strawberry lemonade. We will be back to try more options. The teriyaki char is next on our list. I felt like home here. It's not the greatest burger but if they are consistently good then this will become a favorite. read more

I've been here a couple times and it's growing to be one of my favorite burger fast food restaurants. It's been pretty consistent each time I've been there. The burgers are good better than most fast food places I've been to and the fries and onion rings are always very crispy. They just installed some self service machines to make ordering more efficient. The wait times tend to be a little long, even when there are barely any customers. It's not terrible but something you should be prepared for ahead of time. Only other thing I'd call out is that everything is a la carte, so it tends to be a little more expensive than similar fast food restaurants. read more

This location is clean and nestled along busy Battleground Ave in the Brassfield section. So be safe navigating there. There is a drive-thru option and for you to dine in. Next time, I'll try the drive-thru. The dining area is comparable to a Zaxby's or Noodles and Company. They have a drink area with a section to get your condiments or choice of yellow peppers, jalapeños and/or lime/lemons. Uh yes to the whole peppers! I chose to do the traditional order method of talking to someone, but you can order through a kiosk located near the registers. Once you order, they give you a buzzer to let you know your food is ready. It didn't take long to get my food. I sat in a booth. At first, I wasn't impressed by the appearance of my burger, but that first bite made me forget. Was it the best fast food burger I've ever had? Probably not...Was it good? Yes. The fries were good. I tried their Strawberry lemonade, which was really good. I couldn't try the passion fruit drink, because it was all gone and no one replaced it while I was there...or if they did replace it that is an indicator that it must be really good. read more

They just opened up in the old Chick-fil-a building. The whole process for the drive thru was about 15, I think because they cook the hamburger patties fresh. The building was nice and beautiful! Next time I will try to go inside. There was a lot of items I would like to try on this menu because it isn't the standard menu with just burgers and fries. No chance of a habit forming here. Decided to give them another try for lunch today, bad decision. The burger itself is pretty good but the rest is not worth the $14+ I paid for it. The guy who took my order at the drive thru repeated my order back to me totally wrong. I corrected him but evidently he didn't pay attention or correct it their system. Ordered the tempura green beans but received the undercooked, under seasoned fries instead. The burger was almost the way I requested it but had no bacon which I'm sure I paid extra for. The tea was straight sweet when I ordered half unsweetened. So basically not one item was received as ordered. Service was good/fast. Food was acceptable. It was hot and fresh. The bacon was good and not soggy. They are on the right track with the grilled onion but needed more than a teaspoonful. I don't normally leave reviews but I'm so irked after my experience last night. We went in around 6:30 and decided to order at the kiosk because there were two people in line but otherwise the store was practically empty. We ordered a kids meal and 2 charburger meals (1with cheese, 1 without). Apparently I didn't choose a drink for one of the meals so when they handed us cups and I only got the kids meal cup and 1 regular meal cup I was a little confused and when I mentioned there were 2 regular meals that had been ordered I was told that only 1 of those drinks was on the ticket. I chose not to pursue that issue because the attitude I was getting from the girl at the register was completely unhelpful. I was willing to take that on the chin since I guess forgetting to tick Pepsi on the POS forfeits your drink. It still pissed me off. Fast forward like 10 minutes we get our bag of food and go out to the car. Before leaving I checked the burgers and both had cheese. I take the food back in and explain the situation. 1 was supposed to have cheese, 1 was not. I had the receipt. The receipt backed me up yet I was told by the woman on the grill that she hadn't gotten a ticket for a burger with just lettuce and tomato. Yes, yes you did. She proceeded to make snide remarks about the situation while getting the burger fixed but I finally got the correct order. We go home and break into the food. Two bites into the kids grilled cheese and a loooooooong hair gets pulled out of it. So that sandwich gets trashed. We were at 3 stars until the hair. That knocks them down to 2 stars. I'm amazed by the attitude that we encountered there but looking at other reviews it's a problem that seems to be ongoing and not being addressed in the slightest. read more

I revisited this burger joint to give them another try. My first experience was not the best. I was in the area. Craving a burger and thought I would try them again. I had a very pleasant experience. I went to the counter to order and a gentleman immediately came up to take my order and was helpful offering suggestions as I was undecided. I say this because like so many places they offer kiosk for people to order and pay but I still like the human touch and interaction. I do not want to be forced to use a kiosk. Overall, I really enjoy eating here but I do think there is room for improvement. I like the grilled cheese - it's buttery and delicious but sometimes it's inconsistent because the cheese isn't always melted all the way. The first time I went, they offered to grill the bread in Parmesan cheese which was great but now on the kiosks you don't have that option. Service was great when it first opened but now the employees don't usually greet you when you come in. They have plenty of space to sit down which is nice but the tables could also be cleaned more often. One of my favorite things about the Habit is how you can get half fries and half onion rings because I can never decide. I wanted to love this place, I had watched and waited as it opened with excitement. I was very underwhelmed today - to me it just seemed like a newer "cooler" version of Wendy's. Both the burger and fries reminded me of Wendy's when I had gone years ago. It does look like it has a very nice patio that includes fans and even heaters for when it gets cooler out. It also wasn't exactly fast food... there wasn't a big line (we went around 1:15 ish) and it took a solid 15 mins to get our food ordered and received. Tried The Habit on their first day and it was a great experience. Restaurant was well staffed, friendly and service was prompt. Their differentiators are the flame broiling if their food and high quality ingredients. I had the original burger with cheese and a side of onion rings. Burger did have an excellent flavors and the use of grilled onions added to the flavor. The burgers are thin and next time I likely will get a double as the flavor was lost a a bit with all of the toppings. The onion rings were crispy and well breaded...not too much breading which allowed for the onion flavor to come through. There was a condiment bar with peppers and, in Addison to Coke products, they have two in store made fruit limeades. I finally got a chance to try this place out and it's delicious ! We have a ton of local burger places in Greensboro but this burger is definitely competition! I got the #1 regular char burger with cheese and half fries and half onion rings. The burgers are made to order here and very fresh! The kitchen is kinda open so you can actually see the staff cooking food made to order. My burger was juicy and had a nice char flavor, the grilled onions are absolutely delicious! Fries were seasoned with salt and the onion rings had REAL onion inside. I also got a side of the boom boom sauce which had a good little kick to it. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. The only downside here is the price. Other than that it's great! I will be back again for sure! read more

We ate dinner tonight and after ordering our food, we sat down in a booth in a section of the restaurant with our drinks for about 20 minutes or so and then the person who took or order told us that the section we were sitting in was closed and we needed to move. So we did. Then while eating our meal, 3 people came in of the same race that was working behind the counter sat in the same booth we were originally sitting in that we were told to move from because that section was closed and nothing was said to them about moving. So, I asked about the situation and the response that I was given was that they were just having drinks, which isn't a true statement because two of them had ice cream and the table would still have to be wiped down etc. So, I really think this could be a racial thing and if it had been the other way around, they would've raised a bigger stink about the situation than I am. Very impressed so far with this restaurant. I was able to grab a bite at their soft opening Tuesday July 11th and their opening today July 12th. Both times I used the drive thru which was speedy and had fantastic service. The standout item for me was the portobello charburger. It was delightfully packed full of flavor. The garlic aioli really brought it all together with the cooked onions, mushrooms, and juicy burger. Prices can be steep but the quality of food is worth it in my mind. They do have competition with burger places like Hopps, Porter House, and Five Guys. I believe they will come into their own as some of the best food in Greensboro if they can keep up their quality. Building is nicely remodeled. Bathroom could use some cleaning. Service when ordering was sub par. Told the cashier I wanted whip cream on my milk shake and she hit "no whip" on the register. When I mentioned it she said "I heard you the first time". Booths could all use a wipe down. Business is dead at 3 pm yet every one of the tables has bits and pieces on them and there is at least 6 people behind the counter. Food came out in decent time. Grand opening of Habit Burger so we took the whole family for dinner to try it out. While looking at the menu, one of the managers was on her break and came to the register to share with us about their menu and a special family meal deal they offer. It was perfect for our group. We order the Charburgers, fries and the chicken bites. All burgers were ordered "all the way" and were absolutely delicious. Great flavor, grilled to perfection without all the grease, sautéed onions, pickles, tomatoes, so good. The fries came piping hot and were plentiful. The chicken bites were really good. Light breading and very meaty. Not like your typical fast food chicken tender. All and all very impressed. Great food, great price, and fantastic service!! I am so glad that this restaurant opened here on Battleground! We used to frequent this chain in California when we lived there. This location, like all the others, does not disappoint. The food is good and fresh. The portions are good value for money. I was especially missing the grilled Ahi sandwich, which has always been my favorite item from their menu! The service was as expected. Not the fastest, but that is due to their always cooking to order. I am willing to wait a couple of minutes for better food. The ambiance is pretty uniform across the chain. Clean, modern and simple. When we were there the patio was not open. I do not know if this is a staffing issue or something else they are working on. The crunch when you first bite into is amazing almost In and Out burger. I started with Santa Barbara burger it's a double burger on sourdough bread with Avocado definitely a very tasty burger. Also got a regular char burger pretty decent. I like the simplicity and everything is fresh not greasy, also the sourdough bread is butter but not greasy or messy. Side selection was offered if you can change it, I assume that is more to do so? The cashier didn't explain any options or details ? For three of us total was 45.00 we didn't get anything but the three combos . I would definitely go again to try some of their other menu items. The drink selections were a wide variety. They have cool fountain coolers with juice type fruit drinks that was very good and nice option. Their Soda fountain had Power aid and Lemonade too with a berry Vitamin Water.
