We have been here twice now. Once shortly after they opened. The food and service has greatly improved. The garlic knots are lack luster but the bruschetta and caprese skewers are awesome. I was glad that I found this restaurant when I visited Bastrop. This place is a little hard to find. It's behind Wells Fargo. If you come for a Friday lunch, you might be stuck behind people that are getting in line to the bank. There are not many pizza places. I decided to go here after yelping some restaurants around. I saw this one has a good view to the Colorado River with the iron bridge that is kind of relaxing. Erin(?) was our host and waitress. She was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. After hearing that we had never been to the place, we were visiting Bastrop, she introduced what they had and suggested some good things from the menu. My husband and I ordered Comback dip and El Camino Real Pizza. They were all good. The dip was warm cream cheese, tomato, Italian sausage, and spicy cherry peppers served with tortilla chips. The pizza crust came out not too thick, warm and crunchy which was how I wanted. The only thing that bothered me was some flies bugging me while we were eating. It was not the restaurant's fault though since we were sitting outside, next to the park. Food and service were awesome. I'll definitely come back if I'm in Bastrop again. read more

I first posted a negative review but have removed it. The owner has been prompt and very accommodating in fixing everything. The problems we had were the waitresses fault not the restaurants. This restaurant has a wonderful setting overlooking the park and river. Great place to relax outside. The food and beer are good. We will be back. read more

My fiance and I adore this place. We've only been here once but we're big fans. This place was recommend to us by our wedding venue out in Smithville. So we checked it out! Their outdoor seating is lovely. It looks over the river and you can catch a glimpse of the bridge off to the side. All their waitresses we spoke with were very friendly. Their bar drinks are delicious too! They have veggie options for those with dietary restrictions, so for me, I really appreciated that. Their pizzas are AMAZING. I don't like the food here. I only go for the music and the view. Yesterday I ordered a chicken salad sandwich which was disappointing plus it took forever. It was painfully obvious that there was no manager on duty. I believe there is a new owner. Under previous owner the manager was always checking on customers and would pitch in when they were short staffed. read more

This place is amazing! We ordered the Comeback dip as an appetizer. It's this rich delicious concoction of heaven that's too good to be true. For dinner my husband got the Grease Bucket pizza and I got the gluten free Hot lil Honey. Both were fantastic. The gluten free dough/crust was the BEST I've ever had. Excellent service. Ever see the movie Neighbors? I remember being very excited to see it. But this restaurant was much like that movie and doomed to disappoint :/ I don't believe there was a plan on providing a quality experience to the patrons. The wings, undercooked. The ranch, no flavor. The time it took to receive our two sandwiches, 30mins. Joking aside and the above still true, the servers seemed overwhelmed with the 12 tables they had. Neighbor's was super good and I'm so glad we found it on our way out of Austin back to Houston. We got some siracha wings which were spicy and delicious. The kids got pizza rolls which they didn't like, but they are not a reliable source for food reviews. I got the Little Lady sandwich which had the most tender thick cut turkey I have ever had. It also had a generous amount of crispy bacon which is a fav. Along with a generous amount of baby spinach leaves, fresh. The sandwich also had basil aioli, pepper jack cheese and avocado. Overall one of the best turkey bacon sandwiches I have ever had, and that's an item I order often. The side salad was fresh, could use some crunch. The Texas bruschetta was a little heavy on the balsamic but was still really good. We will definitely return someday! read more

My family and I ate here on a Sunday evening while we were in the area on Spring Break. It wasn't very busy at that time. The wait staff were friendly and attentive. I had the house salad which was fresh and very good. The kids gobbled up the pepperoni rolls and we also had the Grease Bucket pizza which was delicious. It was cold and rainy when we were there, but the view is great and we'd love to come back when it is warmer and could sit outside and listen to the music. I'll never understand why this town is so infatuated with this place. Everyone is paying a premium price for long wait times, mediocre food, poor service and bottom shelf entertainment. There's really nothing these guys are doing well. I've given these guys a couple of chances but they just don't perform at a level worthy of my time & money. The one thing they do consistently is push drinks on everyone. I suppose, after 3-4 beers/drinks to numb your senses and waiting for an hour or more, everyone thinks the food is great and that the cover band butchering "Amarillo By Morning" yet again sounds "really good". But truth be told, Guadalajara crushes these guys on service and Bassano's makes a MUCH better pizza for the same money and The Roadhouse makes way better burgers & sandwiches for the same money. This place is basically a just honkytonk bar masquerading as a restaurant. read more

We came the first time Sunday, May 1, 2021. It was based on our daughter's recommendation. It was the last leg of our week long trip back home to see friends. We wished we could have sat outside, but y'all were busy and the timing was that the downstairs wasn't open yet. If you had though we would have missed the great server we had, EMILY M. She was such a delight. Busy, but we never felt rushed or shunned. Her recommendations were spot on and gave us background on how the pizza and salads were made. And then the dessert -- she sold us on the Cheesecake. I am not a big sweet eater, but my husband is. This was the best Cheesecake I've ever eaten (the berry one was on hand yesterday). Later we got to walk the property and at that time the live music was going and downstairs was open. We will be back now we tried it out and know the routine!! The hostesses were very personable and nice. I want to brag on EMILY M. I told her she needs to be y'alls marketing person or at least get a raise. She is a keeper. Hard working; pleasant; thorough; shows up at the right time; sees what needed and does it. A rare gem needing to stay polished. We can't wait to come back and ask for Emily M again. We stayed in the cottage that's right next to Neighbor's, so this place was perfect for drinks (and more drinks) and dinner. The next night we stopped in for some terrific peach cobbler. The owner, managers, and servers are amazing--really friendly and helpful. And the food and drinks were excellent. The beer comes from their brewery, which is next door. I am A Door Dash delivery driver. Just wanted to give some information on this place. I've noticed a pattern that they put a priority on customers that are there over to go orders. On several occasions, I've had to wait 40 minutes after arriving to get the order. That wouldn't seem bad until you factor in that the customer had ordered it an hour earlier. We ordered a sub, a pizza, two side salads, and two orders of wings. The sub was cold, but otherwise fine. The pizza had very few toppings and was incredibly dry. One salad was missing, the other had all wilted lettuce. The two orders of wings were overcooked, dry, and terrible. We paid $60. I love this place if I make a stop to Bastrop. The service is horrible though! The manager even acknowledged and almost joked about this to us, which doesn't make sense. If you are aware of the issue - fix it. I guess the issue is it's Bastrop. Not a ton of options for live music and dining on the river. Seriously though, I think this place is worth a stop if you're out this way. Go to the distillery next door and grab a drink first. Then come over here for a pizza and view. When it's the first weekend in October in Texas, and it's 100 degrees outside, this place is like an Oasis in the desert. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. So good in fact, that one of our disgusting friends thought it would be cool to eat a (presumably untouched) peperoni roll that the table beside us left when the finished their meal, and while we all looked on in horror, he described the taste as pure ecstasy. What a cute place! I drove from Austin to meet my parents here for lunch a couple days ago. They'd heard about the great location/view/food and wanted to check it out. There isn't much parking right around the restaurant but it's right downtown, so you can find a spot after a bit of circling. We sat outside because we wanted to experience the view that we came for. Mistake. View was great, fans were running, but it's July in Texas so it was still a pretty sweaty experience. But, can't fault Neighbors for that at all! The food was great! My parents both got sangria and I got a ginger julep. Great drinks!! We got an order of the black eyed hummus as an appetizer which I honestly wasn't planning on trying because I don't really like black beans, but it was delicious. Totally not what I was expecting, so so much better. I got a chicken pesto pizza, my mom got the tree hugger, and dad got the tree hugger calzone. We all thought our own dish was the best, but I totally maintain that the pesto won. This was a great experience, definitely worth the drive. View was great, food was great, service was great! Only thing I would change is the weather. Next time we'll come when it's a little cooler! read more

Our server (Face (yes that's his name)) was great and if you get him make sure you ask for him to perform some magic for you! We sat on the deck that overlooks the colorado and the views and atmosphere didn't disappoint. We went on a weekday and didn't get to experience the live music, but I imagine it would be pretty awesome. We both got a calzone and they were delicious. Also, large portions! We both only ate half of ours and felt like we had over ate. So we got two meals for the price of one. The only bummer for me was a limited whiskey selection. read more
