My boyfriend was looking for a new wallet so we went in to Neiman Marcus. The rating is basically for the service because he did get what he wanted. First off let me tell you that if you didn't already know, your payment options at Neiman Marcus are cash, check AMEX or Neiman card... that's right folks... forget about Visa or Mastercard. They aren't accepted here. We discovered this as we were about to pay so we asked the girl to hold the wallet for us which she did. When we came back later with cash she said "Oh I didn't think you would come back.. I thought maybe it was toooo expensive" Seriously lady... keep those thoughts to yourself. Then my bf asked her a few questions about the cologne that were on the counter. She didn't know squat about them. I just think that if you are going to work there in that environment you should be a little better at interacting with people and also have a good knowledge base of your products. I've only shopped here a couple times, because I can get better deals at Nordstrom's and Macy's, but I had to return a gift and I had a gift card I wanted to spend. Employees are friendly at best, but not helpful. I waited over 20 minutes just to make my return, and after she finished the transaction, she just handed me back my receipt without any money back. How am I supposed to receive my refund? She said, "Oh, you want your refund now?" So she had to call corporate office to void the transaction and give me a gift card now instead of having it sent by mail. Why would I want to wait 6-8 weeks when I can get it now? I headed downstairs and found a shirt I liked. I went to pay for it and used the gift card I just got. The employee asked for my address and email just to make the purchase. She didn't explain why, she just said that she needed it. On the bottom of the receipt I noticed it said "Cash change" of about 9 dollars that she did not give me. She said I would need to go upstairs to get the change. I went upstairs where I just made my return and they sent me back downstairs because change/gift cards are handled at each register. Nothing is more frustrating than being judged by your appearance. I don't care what you're shopping for, but I don't think it's always necessary to dress up to go out to the mall. I came here two days ago wearing a casual dress and high heeled booties while my mother dressed more casually in comfortable shopping clothes. I don't typically come to Neiman Marcus, but for Christmas, my boyfriend gave me a cashmere scarf that I wanted to either return for another item or exchange for a different style. Upon arrival, I walked around the second floor looking for someone to help me with the item. I approached a younger saleswomen who was checking out another customer so I walked to the other side of the store to wait at another register. This time, an older saleswomen scanned me and then continued to completely ignore my presence as she stifled through some receipts on the counter. Irritated, I walked again to the other side of the store and approached another register. This time, their sales people were mingling among themselves, completely missing my presence at the register. I went to the third floor and finally talked to someone and was referred back downstairs to a certain area of the store. After waiting another 10 minutes at an EMPTY register, someone finally came over and told me to go back to customer service on the third floor. At customer service, there was one person, despite the long line, helping some lady return her "$900 vest that she bought back in 2013". (Seriously?!) Exasperated and extremely tired, I continued to wait another 20 minutes before finally being able to explain my situation. The customer lady told me they would have to send my item in, get it verified, and then mail me a gift card in 7-10 days. Uh, no thank you. At this point, I had been in the store for almost an HOUR due to extremely poor customer service. I chose to keep the sentimental item instead of giving my present back to such a terrible store. I know people who normally shop here are expected to dress in an $1,000+ outfit, but a college student who got a nice present for Christmas deserves the same customer rights. I am never returning as I prefer Nordstrom over Neiman Marcus any day. read more

There's good & bad. The Good: The staff at the makeup counters are super friendly. They really want you to have fun & pick something that you love. They make it a personal experience & make an effort to get to know you. However, this is not the case for every SA. I have met some that only care about the sale & will NOT leave you alone. That irritates me & causes me to shop elsewhere. A few months ago i came here with my sister to buy her shoes for her wedding. She has wide feet which made it nearly impossible to find shoes at NM(jimmy choo, louboutin, etc). While she ended up finding shoes at the jimmy choo boutique, the SA's were awesome in NM at suggesting shoes & really trying to help find the perfect pair. The bad: -Definitely Understaffed -Some of the staff tries too hard to sell & it comes off coldly One occasion i came to this location to buy a YSL handbag. I was completely ignored by the SA because there was a woman(a plastic surgery nightmare) with her sugar daddy looking at Gucci sunglasses. I was expecting better service and was pretty disappointed. My bf called the store the day before to find out if a dress we saw online was available. It was and the girl he spoke to put it on hold for me. When he got off the phone, he told me she sounded like a real go-getter and went above and beyond to find the dress. That was not the case when I met her the next day. I had jotted down some other dresses I wanted to try on. I wrote down the brand, the name of the dress, the item number, and SKU number if it was available. She made no effort to look them up in the system. She finally led me to another area of dresses and I found one of the dresses on my list myself! I did get the dress my bf called about, but I probably would've found it on my own anyway. I visited the Chanel boutique on July 8 Sunday afternoon. The sale associate was rude and condescending. I have been a Long time Chanel costumer and cannot believe how unprofessional she was. She basically refused to help in any way and any inquiry she immediately stated "we don't have" without checking. She had poor attitude and should be fired. I went to the Chanel boutique in Nordstrom right across and received way better treatment. This review is for the Shoe Salon. It's hit or miss when it comes to SAs in the Shoe Salon. There's good ones that are really nice and then you have the ones that stare you down thinking you don't own a NM card or AMEX. Believe it or not, I did the "Pretty Woman" move and bought hella shoes from a guy that approached me first. I can see that snotty SA lady just counting the $'s I was spending. Neiman Marcus in Fashion Valley has hit an all time customer service low. Besides the fact that this store always stinks like wet diaper butt, their employees now smell the same. After coming in to make a return with my cousin with what seemed like it would be no big deal, she was bashed by their David Yurman specialist. He continued to laugh in her face and belittle her the whole time. We had no idea how to react since we didn't know if he was actually being serious, but he totally was. We finally spoke to a lady that was above him and she accepted the return. Obviously she knows how to conduct good business. You NEVER should turn down a customer. That's not even the worst part. A former coworker of mine named Susan in the jewelry department was there to help my cousin first and was being nice. So she thought. Later to find that Susan decides to post every customer experience on her Facebook page while she's on the store floor, along with many other employees that do the same. I mean when you walk in seeing EVERY employees head down, using their phone, that's when the red flag should go up. Lastly after getting a merchandise credit, we decided to shop in Cosmetics. We stood there for five minutes staring at two employees who would not shut up about one of their 50th birthday parties. Maybe that's a conversation for lunch time? All in all, Neiman Marcus, has gone down the drain. I will never put another dollar into that crumby store. Just be ready to possibly experience the same thing. read more

I stopped in while on vacation in San Diego and out of Chanel lipgloss; and by "out of" I mean I forgot to bring it with me. So, I decided to skip over to Neimans because I've purchased Chanel cosmetics and my purchases "are on file" and I am a cardholder with Neimans. So although the store is very fashionable, upscale, and I passed three women with tiny dogs in their handbags, I figured my card would at least serve as a passport if anyone questioned me in my Gap jeans and Lululemon jacket. Jessica working the Chanel counter that evening was very nice to me once I made it very clear I needed lip gloss, I wanted to try new eyeshadow, and if she swiped my card and referenced my account, she could see that I have and I was willing to to spend some serious cash. Had I not said that, I probably wouldn't have received the same amount and quality of service, but that was somewhat to be expected in a place called "Fashion Valley." We tried a couple colors and I decided on a eyeshadow quad, eyeliner, and my go-to lipgloss. I was definitely bummed they were out of my lipgloss, but I was very happy with my other purchases. The service at the cosmetics counter was phenomenal. I browsed throughout the store and I found the staff to be friendly. I don't think the store was nearly as big as the Copley and Natick Neimans in the Boston area, but I was very pleased with my purchases and service. read more

Seldom can most people come into a Neiman Marcus and say that they ended up saving a ton of money... We were looking for a watch for my wife, and initially stopped by Tourneau. As is usually standard for most nice watch purchases, we asked for a discounted price. The sales person there said that the brand we were looking for didn't authorize it... Fortunately we had stopped by Neiman Marcus where the sales person said the line of watches would be ending there, and that they should be able to bring the price down for the exact same watch... True to her word, our salesperson brought the price down when we came back... and we asked for even more of a cut which she did without any hesitation! The only weird thing here is that they don't currently take Visa/Mastercard or Discover... Amex, cash or check... We ended up having to purchase a gift card with our Mastercard in the customer service area, and then paid with that for the watch... A little bit weird, but I guess it's been like that for years... except in Vegas, Hawaii, and one other spot. The customer service person did say this should be stopping in the next month or so... though I'm not sure I want them to make spending money here easy to do... :) read more

Eugh, one star for hawkeyed woman blatantly following me to each end of the purse department, standing literally 5 feet from me wherever I went when there were other people walking around the department as well, who you failed to assist. Treating your customers like criminals is incredibly irritating (there were a couple things I wanted, but my mother taught me better than to give people like you credit for a sale). Also looked for a birthday present for my boyfriend and all the gentlemen in the Men's were extremely helpful, particularly one tall guy with glasses (I feel bad for forgetting his name) who helped me with some wallets. The cosmetic counter person doesn't seem to know much about the products and didn't do a good job applying it, let alone teaching me how to apply it. She also just tried one tone on me, and never checked it in the daylight how it blends. So today I am looking with natural light and thinking it's a bit off. Updated Review: Visited Thanksgiving week when the Designer Sale started. The Shoes in Women's that went on Sale was quite Dissapointing. Very few of the Women's Designer shoes Actually went on Sale and the ones that did were mostly Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Coo. Whereas across the Way at Nordstrom they had a MUCH Better selection of Designer Shoes Brands that went on Sale such as Alai, Guesseppe Zanotti, Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Alexander McQueen, etc. Also the Reduction in price was only about 25 to 30% on the Sale Shoes whereas Nordstroms price reduction was 40% and then went to 60% 2 weeks later. Nordstrom clearly wins on Shoes. Also this Neiman Marcus location sells Womens Designer Shoes that are from Old Collections/Past Seasons/Past YEARS at FULL PRICE. The Designer Women's Clothing Sale at this Neiman Marcus location can be Good for Gucci, The Row, and Victoria Beckham. Beautiful Trench and Swing Coats and Leather Jackets at 50%-65% off. This is a Strong Point of the store as the designer shoe sale is paltry. read more

I decided to check out Neiman Marcus for the first time ever because they sell Creed fragrances. I walked in and was greeted promptly and directed towards the Creed section. I noticed they had a Tom ford area too. I went in with the intention of checking out a couple fragrances that I've not had the opportunity to smell yet and take the card home to decide which one I liked best. Initially I felt a bit pressured (not too bad) to make up my mind and was offered a pre-sale on a fragrance that I've smelled for 5 seconds. There is no way I'd spend $400 on a fragrance I've smelled on a card for 5 seconds and not even tested on my skin. That's when a young lady stepped in and offered me samples to take home. She was super knowledgeable and you could tell she was genuinely interested in the products she sells. She turned my experience around and now I will definitely go there when I'm ready to make my next Creed purchase. As a pretty decent collector (about 40 bottles) it makes a big difference when a sales associate is knowledgeable and not pushy. I also noticed they have a Tom Ford section! read more

Bought some Louboutins and they were very painful so I brought them back and Linda Cantonwine helped me exchange them for some beautiful and very comfortable prada heels and new pair of chanel sandals. Both are great and she was extremely helpful. I did not have to hunt anyone down. She had greeted me and was very nice. The Louis Vuitton boutique is also amazing. I come to Neiman Marcus usually in search of a new Louis Vuitton hand bag. They also have a fierce clothing and jewelry collection. I love the Mackenzie Childs home ware too. The benefit of buying at Neiman Marcus is that you get points for the money you spend so you can end up getting $100 gift card or a bunch of other perks, free lunches or facials. Why would you just buy at the LV store when you miss out on those benefits?? They also have a super cute clothing section and some pretty fantastic sales. They do not accept visa or mastercard so you do have to get their NM credit card. The girls that work in the LV store are real nice and provide excellent service. read more

Love this place, started coming with the ex-wife and noticed how attentive the sales associates are to our needs , mostly hers I just sat and waited. I still continue to shop here after a brief hiatus and the excellent service has remained the same. I do enjoy the Fragrence department for the vast selection. Someone is always willing and able to help you out and if they don't carry or have what you are looking for then they suggests Nordstrom or Bloomingdales Overall great experience, even just to walk around to see what you want but really don't need. read more

There's only one helpful gentleman who works in that dept. Other woman don't even greet you and just stand with both their hands behind their backs. Sunglasses...meh, no variety. Haven't found a pair in a while. Got Handbags? Go straight for the louie and gucci section! Everyone in those 2 sections are always helpful and really help you find what you are looking for. Men: Not so much... they're always trying to swindle you into purchasing a watch for some reason, even if you are looking at shoes in the mens dept. Don't bother asking them to order something for you.. so they say their going to and its on its way until you follow up with them for months later and they tell you they couldn't find the item(s) and didn't bother contacting you. oops! Wow... haven't been in awhile but over the last 30 years, I have traditionally had lunch with the obligatory (famous) cheese biscuits. We were informed today, they were discontinued ! The broth seemed abandoned by its long-time traditional side. While we were recovering from that disappointment (the only reason I can even get my kids to go), I received my $26 crab Louie. The crab had a familiar texture. I have had food from cans before but not in an upscale lunch boutique and in a beach city known for seafood. When I asked if it was from a can, the server quickly answered it was fresh lump crab. He returned in a few minutes and with a straight face (a bit like a deer in headlights poor guy) repeated what the manager of chef said. (I am not making this up) "The crab was caught fresh, freshly canned then served". ??? So I guess if you crave freshly caught (at some time) seafood but stored temporarily in a can, this is your restaurant. I had a few bites but left it on the table. And in true Neiman Marcus fashion. They charged me anyway. Sigh.. I guess all good things end, we had a good run you and I NM. I won't be back but I will bust out that cheese biscuit recipe and have another go at it. read more
