    I love the mandolins.

I would say that there's nothing that this restaurant can make for breakfast that I can't do equally well at home - and that's a big reason why I often decide to not return to a restaurant - but what draws me are the times in the morning scheduled for live bluegrass music. Certainly, I could play the radio or put on a CD while we eat at home but that's not quite the same as live music. So, the Cooper Cafe offers properly prepared, yummy breakfast fare with live music and that combination makes this restaurant a unique draw.

Music for breakfast. You can't get much better than that

The food has always been fantastic. Always. The service is wonderful, the staff make you feel so welcome. They are great with kids, and my daughter loves it when they let her pull the chord for the train whistle. They have an electric train that has tracks mounted on the walls near the ceiling that runs around. Wednesday and Saturday mornings they have live folk and bluegrass music. How much better can it get!?

Cozy hometown diner! Patty melt is a favorite and so are any of the breakfasts. Makes you feel like you are at Moms and having home cooking.

600 is such a cute place for a lovely meal!…read more We have been multiple times but stopped in on a recent sunny afternoon for some lunch. 600 is so light and airy, we really love the atmosphere!! We had a really great waitress, I wish I would have gotten her name! She was doing the job of hostess and waitress to multiple tables, and doing it all very well! We ordered a chicken sandwich and a salad for our lunch entrees! Both were very good and presented very well! While the food is good and quality feels high - the price is also on the high side. For a sandwich and a salad, waters to drink, we spent over $50 for our lunch! Just something to be aware of! While we had time - the experience was not fast. Something to be aware of if needing a quick lunch. The restaurant was not overly busy but the wait was a little long to receive our order. I ordered a salmon salad - the menu nor the website specify if the salmon is wild caught or farmed. I would really love to know this information - the price would be much better reflected if it were indeed wild caught. :)

The service was on the slower side and could have used more attention to detail--coffee refills were missed, and we didn't have spoons to stir our coffee. That said, our server was kind and had a gentle, pleasant demeanor. The food overall was very good. Only one person in our group was disappointed--the chicken and waffles were described as dry, with the chicken coating lacking flavor. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, and the desserts were a standout; they were excellent and loved by all. One area that could use improvement is the upstairs bathroom. While it was well stocked with supplies, it needed cleaning. Clear signage for the upstairs restroom and perhaps a nice piece of artwork would also be welcome touches. Overall, a nice brunch experience with great desserts and room for a few improvements.

Great spot for a special occasion…read more We had the Kansas steak. It came on a platter that was so hot that the oil was bubbling. We got the fries without truffle bc I hate truffle oil. There was ketchup and a fabulous garlic aioli. Had a good margarita. And my friend had a great Alexander Valley Cab. We sat outside. We came late - everything closed earlier in this town so was very very very glad to find a place that was open after 9:00. The waiter was amazing - so nice and had a nice talk. Would definitely go back again.

Wow wow wow. What a delicious night…read more The service is wonderful - our server was pleasant and you could tell he was one of their A-Team members. Was able to answer our questions and explained the menu. The Tomahawk was truly a great deal. They are salt coated, so do expect it to be on the saltier side (in a good way). The Worcestershire sauce really helped cut through the salt and added a pleasant taste to the meat. Asparagus was cooked perfectly and just yummy all around. The lobster tail was big enough for my husband and I to split in half and came with the perfect butter to dip in. They have a vast wine menu and good drink menu to choose from. Our only (-) would be where we sat. It was a table for two back by the restrooms, behind the bar. We were basically in direct traffic of the servers the whole time. It was fun though being able to see the hustle and bustle of food being prepared and taken out. Other than that the ambiance of this restaurant was wonderful. Intimate lighting, good music. We definitely will be back!!!

Unfortunately, when we visited this most recent time, the market was not working so I ordered a flight with my dinner. It did eventually start up as we were getting ready to leave, and everything was super high so we didn't participate in the fun. I ordered the Honey Chicken sandwich with the cheese curds and it was honestly delicious. The chicken was good and a perfect blend of savory and sweet, the sandwich came with lettuce, freezer pickle and ranch. The cheese curds were surprisingly some of the best I've had and were perfect with a bit of ranch. I'd have the meal again and hopefully next time, the exchange is up and running! :)

I was really excited they had some gluten free drink options on the menu! I got a seltzer for my first drink (delicious) and a cider for my second. My sister was having fun watching the prices shifting and trying to decide what to get. I was starving, so I also got a sandwich on a gf bun. It was delicious. The chips were great too and our bartender suggested we get their french onion dip too. Also delicious. The service was great and friendly and the vibe overall was really enjoyable. Don't often head out to Kalamazoo, but would definitely stop by again if I was in the area!

We had to go around the block multiple times before we found a space behind the parking lot behind the restaurant. When we got into the restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night. There was a short waiting list that moved pretty quickly. The main reasons for going there was to try their James Beard award winning Trumpet burger. I also ordered an amber ale that was pretty good. It was good but coming from Chicago there are several burgers that I feel are better. Places like Au Chaval & Little Bad Wolf to name a few. My wife ordered a Mediterranean style pizza. Again coming from Chicago the pizza was very average. How can you compare this to Pequods or Lou Malnati? Hops draws a large crowd and really packs the people in. They have a good lively crowd w/a nice selection of food & beers. It was an enjoyable meal in a very crowd friendly. As someone with celiac disease, eating out can be stressful, but when I informed our server, he immediately reassured me that they take cross-contamination seriously and ensure a safe meal. While they do offer outdoor dining, we opted to sit inside, and the service and food were fantastic from start to finish. To drink, I started with the kiwi pineapple margarita--they offer multiple types of rims, and I went with sugar, which was delicious. The summer sangria also sounded amazing, but I stuck with the margarita since it was guaranteed gluten-free. For food, we shared the ricotta with gluten-free toast, and for my main, I had the Beyond Burger on a gluten-free bun with a side of chips that were confirmed to be safely gluten-free. Finding a place that is this accommodating, knowledgeable, and delicious is rare, and it made our trip so much better!
