The only issue I had was that I requested a late check-out and the person working the counter really gave me a hard time about it. I understand that late check-outs aren't guaranteed, but her attitude about it was really off. She kept insisting that I need to speak with her manager to approve it, but she never offered to get the manager. I just gave up and decided to speak with someone else the next day. When I came by the next day, the person working let us have the 2pm check-out and the manager did happen to walk by and said it was not an issue at all. And it turns out the girl from the night before did mark me as a 1pm check-out. Honestly, though, this was still an issue because housekeeping came at 1pm to clean the room... The room itself was a room. Clean and standard to Hampton Inn. The bathroom was good, with a nice shower stall and good water pressure but a low flow toilet. My room was in a separate part of the building with only like 6 rooms on the floor. This was nice when it came to hotel noise. However, the windows are very thin and the complaints about car drag racing all night are not incorrect. The location of this hotel was fantastic, an easy walk to many of the sights in the area. One day we decided to take the shuttle and that was fabulous. This hotel is worth staying at for the shuttle alone.

Let's start with the good: Free breakfast was nothing…read morespecial but sufficient. Hot breakfast included eggs and sausage. There were cereals and breads and fruit. Coffee, teas, juices. I like staying at these places because breakfast is usually not a big deal for me. The FREE SHUTTLE goes within 2 miles of the hotel. I stayed here two different times and I probably caught the shuttle 6 different times. Jenn is the absolute best shuttle driver, super knowledgeable about the entire town, and remembered me when I came back the second time. I don't like taking Ubers by myself so having the shuttle was the best - the shuttle picked me up from the Amtrak station before I even checked in! Then it took me to the mall while I waited for my room to be ready. Location: super convenient to eateries, and just across the river from Brown, RISD, Thayer St, and walkable to the waterfront. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. THE BAD: Both times I stayed, my room faced the street and at night people race cars on those streets! The street noise is REALLY LOUD.

It's located in a very walkable area near Roger Williams University, RISD, Brown, and Johnson & Wales. The people were friendly and helpful especially Dylan. It's a very old property. The "lift" requires muscle to get the gate open. It's only large enough for 2 people and only goes to the fourth floor. We were room 502 so we had to lug our bags up another flight of stairs. The room was spacious with a king bed on one side and sitting area with TV on the other. The TV was difficult to watch from bed. The air conditioner combo heater was very loud. In fact, when it came on, it sounded like someone was trying to break into the room. The bathroom was small. The shower was so small that I felt like I was in a coffin with the black tile and shower curtain. The pressure was good in the shower with a waterfall shower head. I had no room to raise my arms to wash my hair. The products provided in the bathroom- hand soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were all good. There's a pay parking lot next to the hotel.

The ambiance of the hotel gave me the feeling that this is the type of hotel for a night with a "side chick" or a "sneaky link". There is a speakeasy on site, the elevator is tiny and dark, and the hallways are dark with low red lighting. The staff is very helpful and friendly and I'm sure very discreet as well. The Dean is not for everyone. But I was charmed by its uniqueness and enjoyed my stay here. I would definitely go back with the right kind of company next time...

The website was easy to use to book the free tickets. The expo was open on Friday 6-9 pm and Saturday & Sunday 12-6 pm. I entered Hilton Providence Downtown Hotel on Saturday around 1:30pm and saw a sign that the Amazing Art Expo was on the 2nd floor. I headed upstairs and followed some more signs to the Amazing Art Expo. There was a table of prints selling for $15 each and free prints for sharing the event on Facebook or Instagram. The Amazing Art Expo had tables of Harry Potter, Studio Ghibli, Disney, Star Wars, Alice in Wonderland, and so much more prints. No photography was allowed in the room. The prints were selling 1 for $35 each, 2 for $30 each, 3 for $25 each, and 4+ for $25 each. David Sobolov, the Voice Actor for Emperor Kaido in "One Piece," Gorilla Grodd on The CW Network drama The Flash, and Sean Carlson, a freelance artist born and raised in New York, were both at the Amazing Art Expo. It was nice to walk around and see the different prints. There were a good amount of people.

Unacceptable Treatment & Lack of Accountability…read more I had a deeply disappointing and upsetting experience at Hotel Providence. I booked my reservation around midnight and traveled from Boston to Providence, RI. Upon arrival, the second front door was locked, and I waited approximately five minutes before the concierge came to open it. When I approached the front desk and politely asked if my reservation was visible, the concierge, Jordan, responded in a rude and hostile tone, saying, "Can you wait!!" He then stated that although he could see my reservation, I could not check in until 4:00 PM. I explained that I had nowhere else to go and kindly asked if he could check whether any accommodations could be made. He abruptly said no, claiming the hotel was fully booked. He then stated that I could pay $339.35 for the night and would be able to get a room immediately, which directly contradicted his earlier statement that no rooms were available. When I asked what the nightly rate included (amenities, etc.), he responded defensively and dismissively. Shortly after, he told me that if I didn't stop asking what he referred to as "condescending questions," he would call the police and have me removed. This threat was completely unwarranted and unprofessional. At no point was I rude, aggressive, or disruptive--I was simply asking reasonable questions about my reservation. Because of this interaction, I was left with no choice but to sleep in my car. I was not willing to pay nearly $400 on top of an existing reservation, nor was it safe for me to drive back to Boston at that hour. The following day around 3:30 PM, the concierge was kind and helpful, though my room was still not ready and I waited an additional 45 minutes. Later, a third concierge listened carefully to my experience and confirmed that the hotel was not fully booked and that accommodations should have been made the night before, directly contradicting what I had been told by Jordan. Despite management being aware of the situation, the manager, Brad Craig, never approached me, never acknowledged what happened, and never attempted to address or resolve the issue. I understand hotel policies, but nothing justifies threatening a guest with police for asking questions or leaving someone effectively stranded. This experience reflects a serious lack of professionalism, empathy, and leadership. I hope this feedback leads to proper staff training and accountability so no other guest is treated this way.

This hotel is lackluster at best and dated for the typical quality you'd expect from the Marriott brand, basically a Marriott disguised as a 3-star hotel. Other than the fancy lobby areas (which they upkeep to make you think it's high class) the room itself is musky, old and outdated. Vents were dusty, and I found a water bug in my room on arrival, but after a long day of flying and unpacking your bag, no one wants to move rooms. Parking is a steep charge $32 a night for not even covered parking which wraps around the building because several close spots are for preferred club members. Of course no complimentary breakfast is provided (expensive restaurant) but at least they had coffee in the morning. One nice thing was the shuttle service that will take you within a couple miles, and service/drinks at the bar was great. I would not say the location was amazing, as it is downtown but appears a bit away from a prime spot full of bars/restaurants.
