It'It's a cute place, and the parking is adequate. The food is average, and the steak fries I ordered were under-seasoned. However, my son ordered waffles and said they were delicious, and the batter was nice and fluffy. The service seemed a bit slow, probably because only one server was trying to manage everything. Maybe this is more of a place to order your food and eat at home. My son had to get up a few times to ask for more syrup or anything else we needed. Man, I wish I got to come here when it was open for dine in because the space looks great buuuut it looks like they're planning to reopen for dine in this year!! Can't wait. As for the takeout experience, everything was seamless. I wanted a quick breakfast on an early Saturday morning. I called ahead and placed my order over the phone. It was ready in the next 20 minutes, enough time for me to drive over and pick it up. When we arrived there were just a few people waiting outside but no one in line. We told them we were here to pick up our order. Everything was already prepared. We just waited for the mocha we ordered to be made fresh. Quick service, some nice chit chat while we waited, and then we were good to go. As for the food, we ordered the chorizo burrito and the Audrey benedict. Chorizo burrito also came with tots for $15.75. It was filled with a lot of different potatoes too. It was good, but maybe not $15.75 good. Needed a sauce to add some extra flavor. The Audrey Benedict was ok as well. Next time I'll def have to go for something on their favorites menu. I remember looking at the silogs before I ordered and changed my mind last minute. There are no big signs for the restaurant, just a small walk up window to place your order since they're still doing take out only. I would have hoped to sit down with some cafe vibes, but Crab Cove is just a short walk down the street and was a beautiful setting to match my brunch. The matcha latte wasn't overly sweet which I liked. Maybe a little too much frothy foam for my liking but it disappeared quick because it was so good. The caprese panini took maybe 10 for them to make and they brought it out to me once done. Great crunch on the outside while the inside was soft with the balsamic vinegar. Mozzarella and tomato were cut the Percy thickness so eat bite was a great balance. Came with a little side salad and dressing, but I actually ended up putting the spring mix on to the sandwich itself! Ordered door dash today and it took a long time to get here. We ordered a nutella waffle, avocado toast, and loco moco. Avocado toast 3/10- bread not toasted, not enough avocado for the price, and they mix some seaweed or something gross in it. it was inedible, and since i'm began it was the only thing i could have. loco moco 6/10- it was just alright, nothing wowed us when we opened the box. mediocre. nutella waffle- 5/10- nutella was clumpy, waffle was super soft. basic and not really worth the price either. read more

I've been going to Neptune's periodically since I moved to the East Bay. Their breakfast does not disappoint. They have some pretty unique types of breakfast items on the menu, such as the Filipino Silogs and and Loco Moco. Food is always fresh and mostly organic. I wish the place had dine in options but I can understand their need to protect their employees and customers. It's a small price to pay to keep the place open when I need them to be. I especially like that most of the dishes come with a side salad as well. Can't go wrong at Neptune's. read more

While working from home during the pandemic I decided I wanted to see which independent coffee shop had the best latte. Luckily for me, the closest to my house, Neptunes, was my clear favorite. The Snowbird beans they use produce a wonderfully balanced shot, never bitter. They only have one size but the price is on point. I cannot review any of their food, but it was packed before Covid. They had hoped to re-open the dining room last year but are having a difficult time finding staff. I miss Foster Freeze, but I'm glad my favorite coffee drink spot is on my route to walk the dogs. read more

So glad they are open again. I had a lovely lunch with a dear friend this afternoon. The nautical themed restaurant has a comfortable laid back atmosphere that is perfect for catching up. The service is kind and professional and more importantly the food is spot on. Food was decent-good, small menu, kinda pricey, but the food took super long just for the two dishes despite there being only 2 other tables at the time and like 3 people working the kitchen. I originally thought that this place was just a coffee shop. Since I moved to alameda during the pandemic, I only know of this place as a take out/coffee shop. I didn't know they had bomb food a well! Service: Always great service here. The staff is polite, friendly, and efficient. Can't ask for anything else! Food: Not only is their coffee amazing and their barista are really good at adjusting sweetness levels to your liking. But their food is incredible. My favorite is the breakfast burrito with the tater tots. The tots are so crispy, but don't feel too greasy. The burrito has the perfect ratio of egg, potatoes, meat, and sauce. It's like the party in my mouth. I wish they had a little spicier sauce, but otherwise it's an absolute must try! Overall: I would definitely recommend this place. read more

Their portions are huge and I love the Filipino twist they put on their brunch items. I was curious as to why such a place only had 3.5 stars. Appears that most of the 1-2 star reviews are due to the fact that they are open for takeout only. Ambiance is still a major factor don't get me wrong. But a little aggressive to take off so many stars for being takeout only. Sounds like some people just want to be served and feel important enough to have someone else attending to their needs. I don't understand why everyone is saying the owner/owners have not notified that they are only doing take out. It's on the website and it's on their instagram account. I am rating this establishment 4 stars with an emphasis on the quality of the food and coffee (as how most Yelp reviews should be). This area is really cute and nice, but the food can definitely be a lot better. Majority of our food was on the burnt side, which caused us to waste a lot of the food. Potatoes, Brussel sprout and fried chicken was on the charcoal taste side, which is very unpleasant. The fried chicken has no taste at all! The presentation of the food was gorgeous and well placed; the food looked a lot better than it tasted. Our total came out to be around $71 without tip yet... This place is nothing special, there are a lot more options in alameda that won't burn your food and more affordable. I will not be coming back to this location unfortunately. read more

Now I do miss the good ol Foster freeze but I do like this place. Fun spot for Sunday brunch in alameda which I think was needed. There were many good options on the menu so I was a little undecided at first. I ordered the chicken fat loco moco. Unfortunately it lacked flavor so I added soy sauce on the side. Friend ordered the chilaquiles- those were good and came with half an avocado. My boring friend ordered the açaí bowl. She said she enjoyed it. I had no urge to try that one. The downside: my iced chai latte was missing the chai, I felt like I was drinking watered down milk. My friend also did not like her matcha latte. I think they need to pay more attention to the coffee as $5 for a chai latte (not dirty) should taste properly. I will come back as this place was fun and I'd like to try more on the menu. We came here to celebrate my roomates 1 year anniversary living in the Bay. I have been here before and sat on the patio but this time we sat inside. Even though the place was busy and there was a wait, we were seated quickly. We were a table of 5 and somehow managed to order all 3 types of benedicts: biscuit, Aubrey, and steak and all were great! My roomie raved about the blood orange mimosas too. Good food and good drinks, it doesn't get better than that! We will definitely be back to enjoy brunch again. read more

The perfect picnic with Neptunes.... Neptune's sits right next to Crab Cove, a lovely beachside park area on the south coast of Alameda. I highly recommend finding a friend, grabbing some food at Neptune's, and then walking along the water next door at Crab Cove until you find the perfect spot along the beach to sit and eat. Neptune's is well known for their brunch. For the healthy crowd, I'd recommend the Acai Bowl at $10. It has blueberries, strawberries, banana, granola, coconut flakes, and honey. For the rest of us, I'd recommend the Carne Asada Fries at $16. It has carne asada, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, and cheese. You'll walk away full. The lumpia here is delicious. They have two types: longanisa and turon banana. Both are fantastic. read more

I love shrimp and grits ever since I had them in New Orleans. I'm always passing by Neptune's on walks so when my coworker suggested we brunch there, I was all in. Met two of my coworkers on Saturday at 10:30 am and we waited about 10 or so minutes to be seated. We were able to sit in their covered outdoor patio area which was nice given it was a warm and sunny day. Our server took our drink order immediately as we continued to peruse the menu for what we were going to have. I ordered a rose black tea which given it was a pretty steep $4.50, I was hoping it would live up to it's price. My coworkers both ordered lattes. We finally ordered and I went with the shrimp and grits (I know...surprise, surprise). Water and our drink order cake out momentarily. The rose black tea was pretty sweet which I wasn't expecting but it had a very nice aroma. I made sure to get at least 3 cups out of it but I'm sure it could've easily produced more. The lattes came and my coworkers said they enjoyed them. Our food came a little while later. Can I just say that I thought my food was very nicely plated? A platter of grits with 4 very nicely cooked shrimp and a runny egg with edible flowers on top. Yes you instagrammers out there, this was photo worthy! The meal was enjoyable due to my coworkers company, the warmth and the food. Although a little pricey for Alameda, I will be back again.
