When I was planning my trip to Vancouver I came across this place and was so excited to go here. However, I was very disappointed when I did. They were out of pretty much everything. They only had two types of mini waffles left - churro and lemon - and their coffee bar was turned off. I showed up ready to buy the whole store but all I ended up getting was 2 mini waffles - one churro and one lemon. I will say the mini waffles I had were very good. The churro had caramel in the middle and cinnamon sugar on the outside. The lemon had lemon cream in the middle and powdered sugar on the outside. A lovely tiny crepe shop with super mini patio located near The Stanley Park. Before we start our 10 km bike tour park we wanted to fuel ourselves. We bump to this place. There were many types and sizes of waffles, with various toppings. We ended up trying the medium size, mixed berries with vanilla ice cream. The service was perfect and friendly. I stopped by to order a box of the mini liege waffles to go and the staff was super nice and helpful. It was early in the morning, so unfortunately their pecamocha waffles were not yet ready :( which was a bummer because it sounded so good. I ended ordering the original, vanilla custard, matcha, and passionfruit. I'm a huge fan of matcha so though it would blow my mind, and while it was delicious, the passionfruit flavor was way better. It was tart but still sweet and very tasty. The rest of the flavors were great too, but the passionfruit was definitely my favorite. We didn't eat all of them in the first day but they were fine when consuming the next day as well, so that was good to know. I love a good liege waffle so I was excited to come here and try theirs since the reviews were so awesome. I got a waffle with chocolate, strawberries, and vanilla marscapone whip. It was decent. I thought that waffle lacked a little bit of crispy ness and sugar crunch, but the toppings made up for it. There were plenty of strawberries, the chocolate was plentiful and the whip was delicious. The problem is the mini waffles. A liege had bursting sugar crystals inside and a crispy exterior and fluffy interior. The minis had no crunch no crisp no sugar. One of the most anticipated return stops this year on our visit to Vancouver was going back to Nero for breakfast. Last year, as you can read in my other review, this place blew us away. On this trip, we were able to introduce two other family members to the magic waffles Nero serves up. Four of us went late morning, so we missed a lot of the crowd on a Friday. We were able to quickly get a table inside the little dining area. Two of us got the savory waffles, and two got the sweet waffles. Each one of them was a masterpiece. One of the very best things that Nero does beyond the top notch quality is in presentation. Each waffle looks like it was created by an artist. This time, I got the Avocado Benedict. This was one of the best things I've ever had for a breakfast. The crispy waffle holds up a first layer of avocado. Then, the perfect poached eggs sit right on top of that. The eggs were poached perfectly medium-soft. Carefully poured on top was one of the best house made hollandaise sauces you will ever taste. Then, you get a light house green salad with some cut cherry tomatoes. As you cut into this thing, the blending of the ingredients with the crisp waffle is otherworldly. Two of our family members got the Heaven waffle. If you are looking for the sweet waffle variety, that's definitely the way to go. My wife also got a Smashed Avocado waffle, and the little bit I got to try of that one was spectacular. Very much different from the Avocado Benedict. My wife also got the latte and she said it was one of the best ever. We were going hiking, and on a whim we picked up two of the dark chocolate mini liège waffles. We ate them after a hard hike, and then immediately regretted not having bought a bunch of them. You absolutely have to pick some of those up for dessert or snacking later! We got 2 orders of the brussels benny with salmon. The poached eggs in those orders were over cooked, more like a soft boiled egg. For the smashed avocado order, it took a while for that one to come out. When it arrived, our "poached" egg was hard boiled! I wouldn't have mind it as much if it was soft boiled because what can you do, it just sat in the hot water for a little too long, but hard boiled? The waffle was also burnt, dry, and crunchy, not "light and crispy" at all. You can tell they forgot about this last order and left it cooking for too long. I've forgotten how good these waffles were! They have some seasonal flavours right now so I tried the Speculoos and Apple Pie liege waffles. These were the perfect sweet treats! If you love Lotus biscuits and cookie butter, you must try the Speculoos waffle! The flavour was on point! The only downside was that I thought the biscuit on top didn't taste quite right in terms of taste and texture. It looks like they may have made it themselves? The Apple Pie waffle was stuffed with cinnamon apples and tastes just like you'd expect! I've also had the vanilla custard waffle before as well and it was also divine! Nero has been a dessert spot I've been dying to hit for months. Finally found myself in Downtown feeling in the right mood for a tasty waffle and extra treats. Was very excited to try it out and was very happy with how things went. My friend and I decided to share the Banella Brûlée since we were still full from our dinner. I really wished afterwards I went for a full serving and just dealt with the stomach ache after. Loved the waffle a lot. The right mix of hot and crunchy with a soft inside. Also the right amount of sweetness in every bite. From a guy who had Eggo waffles for all of high school, it was so good to have a fresh waffle instead. The vanilla ice cream and Nutella whip cream were also very nice complements when combined. I did end up eating each aspect of the dish individually more however. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Nero Waffles. Every single time my Husband and I have come to this place it's been consistent and so, so good. My go to waffle is the "Parisienne" which has such unique and fun flavors that I never get bored of it. The toppings on the waffle are melted brie cheese, thinly sliced pears, blackberries, arugula and candied pecans. A wonderful Brunch Waffle. I choose the Liege style waffle and it is so light and crispy, not dense and I can finish the whole thing without feeling overly full. My husband's go to is "Heaven" It comes with fresh strawberries, freshly made whip cream and in house made berry coulis. So good and if you get the Parisienne ask for a side of the coulis for your waffle because it pairs really well with that one too! It won't disappoint. Check in and get a mini waffle! Got the strawberry waffle and the Oreo ice cream waffle. I would highly recommend the soft waffle unless you enjoy crispy (crumbles when you fork it lol). They put a healthy amount of strawberries which I appreciate! The Oreo was okay... A lot of whipped cream instead of ice cream. So if you're into that, go for it! It's a small place with limited seating but the service is quick and you can be in and out in 15min. Parking on the street is about $1.50 for half an hour. We got lucky and parked right in front! Every time we visit Vancouver, we end up making a visit to Nero! You can choose from 2 types of waffles - Brussels (light & crispy) or Liege (softer & more dense). We usually opt for the Brussels with fruit & vanilla ice cream. Beautiful presentation and tasty! There aren't THAT many options, especially if you are looking for something savory. However, there are enough options to hopefully find a combo that you like. This is a small place so it does get busy/crowded (and the space itself is a little awkward in how it is arranged.) We dropped in on a Thursday evening (around 8:00pm). Great as they're open late (midnight on Friday and Saturday). The staff were friendly and helpful. Order at the counter, they'll bring your order out to you. We sat outside on their patio; perfect that they have a mini heater to provide some warmth. There are sweet and savoury waffle options. There's also a few drinks available otherwise you can grab water from their self service counter. - Brēsilienne ($8.90) - vanilla ice cream, real whipped cream, hazelnut crumble and caramel sauce. You choose the type of waffle you want (brussels vs. liege). We went with the former as its larger and better for sharing. The waffle was fantastic! Light, crispy with a generous portion of ice cream and whipped cream. Heavenly. Trip #2 Dropped in on a Friday evening after dinner. - The Biscuit ($8.90) - vanilla ice cream, real whipped cream, Oreo cookie crumble and dark Belgian chocolate. A hole-in the wall spot with super tasty waffles. We got some savory and sweet options and the Benedict's were definitely a winner. Not to discount the sweet options - which kids really loved. We got some cappuccinos for the breakfast which didn't disappoint. Seating is limited with only about 4 tables inside and three small ones outside. The staff was very friendly and busy :) so get there early to grab a spot and try the amazing waffles. I won't lie - I like a clean spot and the entry way to their restaurant where the outdoor tables/chairs are can use a good scrub and power wash - it had a bit too much gunk and food staining which attracted bees. The outdoor seating is in the sidewalk so expect car noise and exhaust if trucks park to unload. Overall a great breakfast spot. read more

I came here after dinner from a Dine Out Vancouver event restaurant because I was still hungry. I'm not really a waffle person, but their freshly in-house made waffles were really yummy and not too sweet. I chose the Bresilienne with the Brussels waffle which has vanilla ice cream, real whip cream, roasted hazelnut crumble, and caramel, and it was so delicious. The most important aspect was that it wasn't too sweet and it was light, including the ice cream. I also tasted the Banella Brulee with vanilla ice cream, Nutella, whip cream, Nutella mousse and caramelised banana. It was good, and I was surprised that it wasn't that sweet. If you are in Vancouver, and a fan of waffles, Nero's is a must have. Their savory waffles are as good as the sweet ones and the staff is absolutely wonderful. My one and only complaint is that there is always an hour long wait for it and no way to get on line without physically being there. Luckily I live close enough that I can put my name on the list and leave home when I get the notification but I wish there was an easier way.
