    mini liege waffle (original)

Stepping inside Nero Waffle, you'll be intoxicated by the lovely sweet aroma of waffle batter. It just smells amazing. I'm relatively selective when it comes to waffles, taking Liege over Brussels any day, but I like how Nero Waffles offers both. I stopped by on a Thursday evening shortly before closing and was greeted by a friendly worker. I ordered one mini liege waffle, original flavor. Made fresh, it was warm and good with deliciously caramelized crispy edges. Since it was mini size, it was a perfect dessert. I'd be very interested in other flavors next time when I'm hungrier.

Really amazing! Had smashed avocado and then the Heaven and Banana brûlée. All were top notch. Waffle so light and flavorful

I'm so glad we visited this literal hole in the wall. These are maybe some of the best waffles I've had in my entire life. I don't have a single criticism for anything we ordered and I loved the little touches too, like frying the capers for better texture. The service was also top notch.

A restaurant just for waffles?? Count me in! We got there right at opening on a wednesday. They were short staffed with just 1 person working for the first 30 mins or so but he was so friendly and really was going above and beyond to help everyone! Love that they had both sweet and savory waffles and small liege waffles we ate as an appetizer-churro was my favorite! Small place with just a couple tables inside and a couple more outside. Such a fun place!

This place is so cute! I went here with a friend in the morning for breakfast & was pleasantly surprised by the experience. Coffee was super good (I had an iced latte) and we both had waffles, which were delicious. Sweet but not too sweet - I highly recommend the mascarpone which was so so good. Tiny spot, only a few tables in the back, with a small outdoor dining area when the weather suits it. I will absolutely be coming back here in the future! Staff were helpful when I asked about my peanut allergy - apparently they don't use peanuts in their food, but they do use other tree nuts (Nutella, etc) I felt very safe eating there!

Great service, quaint place and tasty waffles! Eggs Benedict with smashed avocado was terrific. Thank you

I have been to Seymour location before which is more bigger & trendy. It has way beautiful interior & spacious patio in L shape all around the place. In waffles theprovide the unique Brussels waffles which are soft n crunchy at the same time. We tried both sweet & savoury options of fruit waffle and avocado smash respectively. The taste was matchless. Very yummy and very filling. It's a self service small seating outlet so be prepared. Drinks are served fast so let them know when you want them else the drinks will be cold until the food comes . Staff is sweet so we enjoyed our time spent on the roadside patio.

First time trying Nero waffles. Absolutely enjoyed it. The waffle itself tasted fresh and not overly sweet which was really nice. The coffee was also really good too and I'm glad we were able to get non dairy options for the milk. The staff were wonderful This location unfortunately is really small with not a lot of seating area or space so do be prepared to have the waffle to go if they're really busy. The strawberries on the waffle tasted a little too sour as well but not a huge issue as it really complemented the waffle really well.

Was looking for something different while visiting Vancouver. The pictures from others had me intrigued. Small place. Seating is limited. 2 workers up front doing all the cooking & cleaning, etc. We got our coffees pretty quick. There was 2 others who had been seated before us. Kitchen only has enough space to knock out 1 order at a time. Well worth the wait. I'm not a big brie cheese liking person but the waffle I got was delicious. Brie and some greens. Odd looking but it sure was tastey.

Cute Little Breakfast Brunch place. Got the Tiramisu, it's perfect for people who love chocolate, the tiramisu cream was Soft and had a hint of Coffee Taste. Also got the Tiramisu Latte, very strong roast. The Serving sizes are Filling so they're good for sharing, if you have a smaller appetite, I'd recommend getting the smaller waffles

Nero Waffles has 1500+ reviews on Google along with 4.5/5 stars; we really wanted to see what the hype was about! As soon as you walk into this tiny, tight store, you can see the staff making their waffles through the glass. Next to it are the mini liege waffles. After deciding for minutes, we finally chose the Dark Chocolate Pistachio and Chocorazz for waffle tasting. We also ordered the avocado Benedict to share. The waffles themselves were not quite special for us; both of them didn't stand out as much as people say they are, especially the Dark Chocolate Pistachio, just a classic chocolate waffle.  However, what really got us to leave a 4 star rating was avocado Benedict! Very well-made poached eggs that burst their yolks when you gently cut through it, along with their housemade hollandaise sauce. I rarely get to try Benedicts, and I could say that this one is definitely my favorite out of all. We didn't expect the avocado to mix this well with everything; the whole dish suddenly became creamy, cheesy-like, and filled with flavors.  We'd come back to Nero Waffles for their savory lunches without a doubt; high-quality food made with care is what we always look for!

We got 1 of each liege flavor

YUMMY!!! We just had dumplings, but we really wanted to try. Then we got in and couldn't decide what to get. So we got one of each Spring Flavor of the liege waffles. - original- vanilla custard- white chocolate raspberry- churro- coffee caramel- pistachio- dark chocolate coconut!! If you take them home, toast them up a bit and enjoy with tea or coffee!!

Wonderful place, great ambiance but super tight and small. Warning - don't believe their website, neither place accepts reservations. We went as family of 5. There are maybe 4-5 tables at this location and we sat at the only one I think that can sit 5. So forget coming here if you have more than 4. I had the French toast waffle. The waffle itself - its among the best for sure I've had in Vancouver. Light and crispy. Wonderful to bite into. I could eat this all day, trust me. I don't think this is the Liege. The bananas were caramelized and it was wonderful. It's not big but big enough. If you want a bigger looking waffle get one of the sweet ones as they come with ice cream. My kids loved them. And heh isn't part of eating a waffle how it looks? :) Would definitely come back. Their pack of 7 to go mini waffles are great too btw. Two of the flavours are filled.

Service was good, friendly. The restaurant is the same as I recall, clean enough. A little cramped and the seating isnt too comfortable. Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

Service - 9/10. Everyone we interacted was very kind and helpful. We especially enjoyed our time with the bartender who was attentive to our needs. Smoked salmon bagel -- 9/10. This was really good and fulfilling. The smoked salmon tasted fresh. Avocado toast -- 9/10. Solid avocado toast which paired nicely with the salad and poached egg. I ordered some bacon on the side for some additional protein Berry french toast -- 4/10. I found this to be dry and lacking in flavor. I wouldn't recommend this. Wings -- 6.5/10. The wings were just ok to me. I personally prefer when my wings are already separated. Flavor was good for the first bite, but got tiring after French onion soup -- 5/10. This was my first time trying french onion soup, so I could honestly just not like the dish, but I thought it tasted awful. At the end we just had chunks of cheese Chocolate cake -- 8/10. Super rich and decadent. A great dessert option if you're looking for something to end the meal!

But first, the food - I ordered scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage and paid an extra $1 for truffled lemon potatoes. The verdict? 4 out of 5. I'd ordered the eggs "very soft" and they verged on medium-firm. They still tasted good. I'll gladly pay extra for the truffled potatoes next time. My husband ordered the salmon avocado benny. While he loved the tomato soup he chose on the side, he was less enamoured by the benny itself. I had a taste and was underwhelmed by a forkful of overripe avocado and slightly fishy-tasting salmon. We finished with an order of beignets which despite being freshly-fried, were bland; although the accompanying strawberry sauce was deliciously tangy-sweet. Onto the service. This place spins like a top, and I mean that in a good way. Although we came at a peak time, all front of the house staff we encountered -- from the hostess to our bubbly server, to the smooth manager -- struck a perfect balance of being in flow, working flawlessly together, and maintaining light conversation with us. Exemplary. 5 stars out of 5.

We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. There might be another one that says if you eat rotten food maybe get a different job and see rule one. Overall, we liked the place and would go back. We would just avoid the salads and fresh fruit and stick to the food they cook.
