One look at this on yelp, and I had to have it while I was in town. Parking in this area is a little tricky. Some of the streets require you to have a permit in order to park, some are 1 hour zones, and some you cannot park at all. There are certain restrictions, so just read all the signs to make sure. The staff here is super friendly and welcoming. It just made the experience that much better. I hate when I find something I think is going to be great on yelp then it turns out to be the complete opposite. So many great choices, but so little room in our stomach after dinner. My friends and I decided we would get 2 and share. Its an unspoken rule that you cannot get the same because we like to have different options each bite. We went with the heaven on liege waffle (sweeter, soft, and chewy) and the bresilienne on Brussels waffle (very light, airy, and crispy). SOOOOO GOOODDD!!! ESPECIALLY THE BRISILIENNE!!! I'D DEFINITELY BE BACK IF I WERE TO EVER TRAVEL AROUND HERE!!! read more

Nice small cafe. Would recommend the Brésilienne for a not-too-sweet Belgian waffle with toppings. Price point is around 11-14$, not something to have everyday for the average consumer. More so of a every-now-and-then desert after a meal on Robson St. read more

Best waffles in town! We tried their new flavor called chocolate fudge it's sooooooooooo delicious!!!! Craving for more! First time my hubby and I finished everything plus it's such a good combination with all 3 chocolates! This location was a bit smaller and their chairs outside were too rusty and old! OMG... YOU MUST COME HERE! I came here for Vancouver Marathon and lived in the hotel down the road. Mr. Smart and I walked by here like 1000 times and saw a lot of people waiting and lining up outside. I told him we must try here. And, we did! Staff was super friendly. He explained the differences of their waffles. I told him I was here for the marathon and he gave me 10% marathon discount. The waffles we had was so delicious even though I don't remember the names anymore. But, we are going back for sure! read more

I was none too impressed with the 'mini liege waffles' we sampled here. To start, I was a bit disappointed that they were not made to order and were just sitting on a rack in a display case next to the register. The worker even asked if we wanted them warmed up, but they were still pretty cold when we received them. I went for an *original* and *matcha white chocolate*. Each mini waffle was $2.15 CAD and you can also choose 7 for $14.29 CAD. A small amount of seating is inside, but we opted for the benches outside. Matcha waffle was very sweet with a hint of the white chocolate; nothing matcha about them. Original waffle was plain. Both waffles were pretty dry and just pretty sweet in general. Maybe we should have shared a whole waffle because I think those are made fresh. read more

Been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got a chance to! Popped in at 11pm on a Friday hoping to try the mini Liege waffles but they were all sold out except for one flavour. However, it wasn't all bad because my boyfriend and I ended up ordering the mocha Brussels waffle and it was DELICIOUS!! The waffle was dense but still so light and crispy. The espresso flavour in the whipped cream was so apparent, I wasn't expecting it to have such an espresso-like taste but I was pleasantly surprised that it did. The ice cream kind of helped balance the lovely light textures of the other items as it was more dense and heavy. Loved it, I want to come back and try more, especially the mini liege waffles. The place is really tiny so even though it was 11pm there weren't a lot of seats to choose from. I can see this being a really cute date spot though. read more

Let me start off my saying, I only had to wait 15min for a table on a Sunday morning so my experience started really positively. I'd previously be quoted wait times of 1.5+ hrs which always made me walk away. If you're reeeally craving waffles though, it might be worth that wait. The service is always very friendly and casual. The waffles were cooked to perfection. The liege was soft, chewy, and sweet. The brussels was light and crispy. My lemon ricotta had a bit too much ricotta but honestly, I'd rather have more than less. My bf's waffles were perfect- I was a little jealous of his because I think the Brussels waffle is ultimately the better choice for sweet waffles (to balance the flavours). I'd totally come back again but, as a local, I'd only come back on days where the wait time is likely lower. read more

Nero Belgian Waffle Bar is a small dessert bar off Robson St. They are known for making some amazing Belgian Waffles. I would move to Vancouver if it guaranteed I could eat one for breakfast every day. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - It's small. I mean, it's Sausalito Hamburger small. There are maybe 6 total small tables inside and a few outside. The smell of the sweet batter baking is so intoxicating it will force you to be patient as you line up to order. Like most awesome things to eat, IT'S WORTH THE WAIT. Just be wary there may be a line out the door and a wait of 30 minutes. But I'll give them a pass since you line up right next to the open kitchen so you can watch them do their magic. 1 Star. Service - What I loved about Nero is you can't grab a seat until you order. And they won't take your order until there are seats. The staff does a great job of policing the tables to make sure no one is holding tables. This means you're guaranteed a seat when you order. Sure, there's a wait, but once it's your turn you know you can sit and indulge yourself. 1 Star. Food - BEST WAFFLES EVER. I know that's over used, but for me it was an almost tantric experience. I've never been to Belgium to have a real Belgium waffle, but if it's anything like what Nero makes I'm making a pit stop if I ever hit Europe. The espresso waffle has bits of ground coffee mixed into their whipped cream. The bananas for the Nutella waffle are expertly cut. Everything is fresh, made to order, and the batter is not too sweet with a hint of vanilla. Every waffle we ordered was devoured. It's that good. Our only problem is we never found time to make it back during this trip as we ran out of time. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. In fact, I would drive up from Seattle to Vancouver for a day trip just to experience Nero again. Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes. 1 Billion Stars. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Food - I'll award up to two stars for the food, since this is the main reason we dine out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the food. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. A cozy little shop that serves two types of waffles: Brussels (fluffy and crispy) and Liege (soft and sweet). We ordered the plain liege with nutella and another waffle with ice cream and ice cream. The waffles did arrive light and crispy topped with my favorite nutella topping. We would definitely come back to try the liege waffle next time. read more

Bradley Cooper's doppelgänger works here which is the main reason why you should come visit this place. Oh, and they also serve ah-may-zing waffles. I'm not a fan of waffles but this establishment so happened to be located in the same building as our hotel so why not give it a try. Small menu with limited menu selection. I tried the "Fruity" on a brussel waffle and it was delectable! The fruits and waffle itself were very fresh. The waffle outside had a slight crunch and the inside was light, fluffy and airy. It was perfect. The Fruity waffle comes with an assortment of fruits topped with whipped cream. I also asked for a side of nutella which made this dessert 10x better. They also offer espresso drinks which would definitely pair well with your waffle. You have the option of ordering your waffle either Brussel (light and crispy) or Liege (soft and sweet). I would probably recommend ordering your waffle Brussel style so the toppings won't make your waffle soggy. This is a cute and cozy little shop that is worth trying if you're in the area. Limited seating is available both indoor and outdoor on the covered patio. read more

Just as good as ever for an after dinner treat. Had the fruity on Brussels and the amount of fruit is absolutely mind-blowing for the price, just wish there's a bit more whipped cream. Of course the premade waffles in their glass display aren't as good but at $2.30 each are still worth every penny imho. My sweet tooth is once again very satisfied. read more

rating: 4.5/5 the waffles here are so good!! would totally come back in the future to try out their full-sized waffles. - notes - both cash and card are accepted! their mini liege waffles change flavors every once in a while, so i'd recommend getting something if it stands out to you, since it might not be there next time you stop by! - atmosphere - the inside of this shop is pretty small. right when you go through the entrance you'll see the area to order to your left, and if you keep walking down you'll find a few tables to eat at. definitely has a soothing/relaxing ambiance that's great for a casual meal/snack. - overall experience - came by a little before 8:00 pm on a sunday evening and the shop seemed pretty empty. i asked the worker if he had any recommendations for the mini liege waffles, and he said that the vanilla custard is one of the most popular. i ordered and paid right away, and the whole process was really quick. kind of wished that i asked for the waffles to be heated up, but i'm not sure if they would've allowed it. - recommendations - highly recommend that you must try their churro and vanilla mini liege waffles! 8/21/22 each mini liege waffle is $2.70, which is definitely worth it in my opinion! -churro mini liege waffle: i'm a huge fan of churro-flavored anything and this was seriously amazing! the waffle itself was still slightly crunchy on the outside, but so incredibly soft and chewy on the inside. the outside of the waffle was covered in cinnamon and sugar, which added some extra sweetness. there was also some churro cream inside the waffle, which i really wasn't expecting! it was a pleasant surprise, and the churro flavor really stood out in this waffle. We tried two of their mini liege waffles ($2.84 each after tax). The Vanilla Custard one was filled with custard cream and sprinkled with powdered sugar. The Speculoos one was sweeter, dipped (on one side, not fully covered) in cookie butter glaze and sprinkled with cookie crumbs. The texture of the waffles are not as soft as regular ones as they have a chew to them. A good pick-me-up! read more

I couldn't decide between the savoury or sweet waffles... so I got both. Parisienne Waffle - Brie Cheese, walnuts and honey drizzled all over. Wonderful and creamy combination of savoury / sweet. Heaven - Strawberries and cream. 'Heavenly' dessert, but I would have liked a heavier type of cream or to add ice cream. You can also choose between 2 types of waffles. (Summed it up nicely by Wendy Y. below) "Brussels: crispy, airy, light Liege: chewier, doughier, heavier than its counterpart" Note - There's no washroom here! Located on Robson Street, Nero is a tiny waffle bar that serves delicious waffles. So delish it should be a crime. Had the Brésilienne Belgium waffle with caramel sauce, whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream (peep the pic). It probably adds up to 12341 calories but who cares? I'm starting my diet tomorrow. Small place but no lineups on a Monday evening. People are super friendly. Overall a great little place to snack after a stroll along Robson. Tip: sit outside on a cool summer night. 4.8/5. Super yummy! Super nice staff! Limited options but they were fantastic. We got the fruit and mascarpone cheese added bananas and it was delish!!! Also the daily special Benny with ham and poached eggs it was fantastical well. Would totally go back. The only down side is the small seating area. But in nicer weather there are seats outside. Setting: The setting is a smaller place, generally really busy. But if you get a seat inside its really nice and cozy. Service: The staff were nice, and service was quick. Food: Ice cream is so delicious, I get the light and crispy waffles so I am not overly stuffed. read more

He has offered for my In-Law and I to come back to have a second experience on Nero. I will provide further update upon my next experience there! I had high hopes, but ended up unsatisfied. The waffles here are really good. You can choose between the Brussels and Liege style waffle. Both you can't go wrong with. The place is small so its hard to get a seat and they only make a certain amount of batter for the day. I guess it's so that they don't have any left over or waste anything. Even though they close at 12am ( Friday & Saturday), they usually run out around 1045-11pm. Other days, they close at 11pm so again, about an hr before they close, they may run out. I went last Saturday with some friends around 1030 and they already ran out of the Liege waffles so we got the other one. It was crispy and soft. I ordered the Mocha ( espresso infused whipped cream, ice cream and dark chocolate ) which was soo good and an americano The americano was ok, very weak and not a lot of flavor although I wasn't expecting much about the drinks since this is a waffle place. Soon after we got our orders, they were sold out of waffles so we were lucky. This was about 1050 that they wrote on their outside board that they were sold out. So if you plan on going here, arrive at least an hr and half before they close, expect a line up and no seating. read more

Super cool music playing over the speakers. The metal bicycle on the wall is something I would steal if I could get away with it. As for the food. The waffle is crepe-like in that it is not sweet and a little eggy. The crispyness is awesome. We almost came back a second night in a row, but we had already reached our caloric intake for the evening. What did I learn today? Not many tables, so best on a dry evening. read more

This place is tiny but cute. We could smell the sweet and cozy scent of waffles in the air as we walked along the sidewalk. We tried the mini waffles paired with a cup of cappuccino on a chilly November afternoon. This definitely hit the spot for us. That was THE best waffle I have ever tasted! I've never been to Belgium, but have had so-called Belgian waffles all over the U.S. We tried both the light and fluffy one and the more chewy sweet waffle. Both were so delicious! We had the smoked salmon, the French something with carmalized bananas, and one with strawberries and whipped cream. The milk hot chocolate was tasty. The latte was perfect! This place is a must for your trip to Vancouver! If you are used to big American breakfasts, you might need to order 2 different waffles to fill you up. My party of three came in to get some desserts after dinner. We were seated at a booth inside and ended up each getting a mini liege waffle and all sharing the Heaven. Great presentation right off the bat, especially with the powdered sugar of its logo. My matcha mini wasn't as great as I hoped it could be. It was on the harder chew-intensive side, perhaps due to how it was on display for a while. The Heaven was the highlight of our desserts. The Brussels waffle was extremely light and made the toppings shine even more. Here are what I got! - Brussel Benny First time tried their savoury waffle. Eggs were cooked perfectly and love the running yolks! the hollandaise is light and delicious!! Perfect for brunch! This menu only available till 3pm! - Banella Brulle One of my favourites, I choose the light and crispy (personal tips: always choose this when you order the sweet menu). History

Established in 2012.

Belgian owners Eilnaz and Jan Dierckx moved from Belgium to Vancouver in 2011. Missing something from their home country they decided to open up Nero, a small family run waffle shop. Soon after opening line ups out the door started forming. In 2016 they opened up a 2nd location in downtown Vancouver.

Meet the Business Owner: Jan and Eilnaz D.

We moved from Belgium to Vancouver and opened a waffle shop called Nero 6 months after we landed. We had no idea what we were doing, but we were doing one thing right: our waffles. And that is what kept us going for all those years. Our focus on quality and authenticity. What started out as a mom and pop shop grew to a company now employing over 30 employees. We manned the waffle irons ourselves for the first years, but it became clear that we had to surround us with a great team of people. So even if now you don't see us slinging waffles anymore, please know that it is still the same people running the waffle shops behind the scenes. We put our heart and soul in Nero and we hope you can see, feel and taste that when you pay us a visit. We strive to give every customer that walks through the door a 5-star experience with both a great product and great service. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. If you have to park, then you may find street metered parking or use one of the nearby paid lots.

It was a nice mix of sweet, spicy, and savory between the roasted pineapple, charred tomato salsa, pickled jalapeños, and salsa verde. The bacon and potatoes were nice and crispy too! Not only will you find the best food here, but the views are unmatched too. If you get there early, you can enjoy your breakfast by the window or on the patio overlooking the marina. It was pretty quiet and peaceful and I would love to experience that again. Service here was also amazing! These beds and pillows were some of the best hotel beds/pillows I've ever slept on. We all slept so well! We also ordered room service for breakfast and everything was so good, with reasonable room service prices for the amount you get. Didn't use the gym, but it's recently renovated and beautiful. They provide iced water infused with electrolytes and there are even Pilates machines! There's also a heated rooftop outdoor pool that we didn't have time to take advantage of too. Not only is this hotel amazing, but it's in a prime location to everything - especially if you're a first time visitor to Vancouver. It's super easy to hop on the shuttle to the suspension bridge, or take a sea boat or hop on the subway to/from the airport. It's also walking distance to Gastown, Robson Street, Stanley Park and the Seawall. Highly recommend this hotel if you're in the city!

She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

Our server suggested that, because it was happy hour, a pitcher would be cheaper and save us money. I specifically asked how many ounces the pitcher was and was told 32 oz, which sounded reasonable since we planned to get 15 oz beers. When the pitcher arrived, it was clearly 64 oz. The server apologized for the mistake, and I let it go, thinking we didn't have to drink it all. However, when the bill arrived, the price didn't match the quote. We were charged $25, not the $20 we were originally told when the 64-oz pitcher showed up, with the explanation that the regular price was $35 and that we had "saved" money. In the end, we were served twice the beer we wanted and paid twice what we intended, based on information that kept changing. Whether this was incompetence or intentional, it left me feeling frustrated and uncomfortable. The food and atmosphere really were great -- but the experience was overshadowed by feeling manipulated. Enjoy the food and beer, but pay close attention to what the wait staff tells you and what ends up on the bill.

We tried the "most popular" honey dipped and don't let the honey name fool you (I don't love honey so was skeptical but my husband thought we needed to try the most popular) - it was like an upgraded, superior glazed donut. Fabulous flavor, dense but delicious- so so good! We also tried the strawberry lemonade and OMG best donut ever?! Like in my life?! Truly I've never had a better donut experience than this.
