Saw roast beef on sale for $5.99/lb. Sound like a good deal. We ended up not getting the roast beef because they don't have a big one for a family of 5. It seems like they have small ones for 2 or 3 people. Guess its Nesters only serves small family. We ended up walking the entire Nesters. I have noticed that some of their items/goods on shelves were very very dusty. Not sure how long they have been sitting there. People are friendly at Nesters. But you have to engage them in order to get service. The isles were clean. I have to say Nester is a much pricier grocery store compared to Super store or my usual grocery shopping places. Meat quality can be counted on. Yes you are paying more for meat but its fresh. I mean if its not fresh, just return it hassle free. The store does seem very quiet. I think there were only 5 people excluding the people working there when we went. There are parking downstairs and side street parking. read more

This place is really cute. The pricing is close to that of buy low (a tad high) but their fruits and veggies are comparable in price to superstore so that's a plus (if you are trying to eat a healthier lunch and grabbing fruit instead). The issue I found is short of the deli area, unlike MOST grocery stores, this one seems to carry almost nothing you can eat. For lunch. In the non perishable aisle (none of their items are with pull tabs etc) Most grocery stores sell a lot of items like soups with the pull tabs. (Found it very hard to find any here for some reason) Their freezer section does carry some nice lunch stuff like Microwave DInners and pizza pockets, ice cream and bars, cakes, etc They do have some nice baked goods such as fresh bagels donuts crossiants and buns. And they have pre packed boxes of same and sometimes at a steep few bucks discount because it's close to expiry etc They do sell chicken and fries I have yet to try it but I heard that's pretty yummy. I really like their little chocolates by the checkout. The bulk bin ones. High quality chocolate for about 50 cents a piece. Not bad at all. Very well staffed. read more

Main Street deserves more quality grocery stores like Nesters. Nesters offers high quality food and produce. The majority of their fruits and vegetables are organic, and many are locally sourced. Consequently, the prices are significantly more than you'd likely pay at Superstore or Walmart. Expect to pay upwards of 30% more. That said, their produce is always crisp, clean and glistening from the regular mistings they receive. The Deli and Bakery section, although small, offers a decent selection. I like that they have different sausages. coldcuts and ready-to-eat meals. Choice is limited, but it's quality over quantity. Staff are friendly, but many are very young and inexperienced. As a result, efficiency and skill are under development. Unfortunately, Nesters is located in a popular part of town so parking is often limited. But, I've learned to park a block away in the neighborhood to avoid having to pay for the limited parking spots out front. If you appreciate quality over quantity, Nesters is a safe bet. read more

If their salted caramel cookies weren't amazing. I would totally give this market 1 star. Basically everything here is overpriced. You never see young people here because how good they afford groceries here. I honestly feel like I'm bleeding money when I walk inside. Even potato chips are double the price of somewhere like buy low foods, which is literally across the street. Literally almost every item is near double the price of competing supermarkets nearby. Their produce is ok, but I honestly think you're a dummy if you want to pay $5 for 2 apples because that is the price you see here. Every time I come here, they only have 1 cash register checking out customers because no one comes here. I don't know how this place stay in business. Do they social distance here? Go to East/West market closer to Kingsway: full stop. Nesters needs to train the staff better to acknowledge people when they cannot serve everyone at once. Not 1, not 2, but 3 frustrating service incidents in one short visit. I stopped in here twice during my stay in a nearby Airbnb. I was wowed by all the vegan options and by the high quality of the produce. Being an ignorant American, I can't really speak to the prices but they seemed fair for what I was buying. I love that they had THREE varieties of Daiya sliced "cheese" and two types of Yves "deli meats," along with Veganaise. I made some really tasty sandwiches during my stay. The clerks were friendly and helpful. I removed one star because I would have loved to see vegan options at the deli. read more

It's too bad I can only give you guys a one star rating when you clearly deserve more. The prices are average and the produce is sub par. If you can walk a little further to East West, I would recommend as service here is a hit and miss. Thanks to the worst cashier - downright rude and miserable who clearly has no business being in the customer service industry - yes, I'm talking about you, KIM, it's unfortunate that this company feels it's necessary to keep someone like that as part of their staff. I am a regular here at this store because of its convenience and each time I have any type of interaction with Kim, she is downright rude, even using the sh#t word in front of my kids. This is really uncalled for. I also found it extremely disgusting today when Kim starts to demean the other employees in front of a line up of customers just to prove her 'rank' in the company. I will be contacting the manager directly to address this as it is not acceptable and reflects very poorly on the store and it's management. read more

Nice to support the smaller franchises a bit when I'm driving thru here, to avoid the long lineups at Superstore & Save on Foods. Come here usually for its fresh produce, & organic section pretty tidy too. Today, bought some Be coconut juice on sale for $1.99. Their rotisserie chicken to go also pretty tasty too, for $13.99 you also get a few dinner rolls too; better than Safeway's. read more

The store logo, "where the locals shop" left me as a visiting senior feeling shunned today. Around 12:45 pm there was only one cashier open (!) and several food aisles away a long line of customers were waiting. The protocol appeared to be that the cashier signaled to the customer at the head of the far- off line-up and that person could go forward. When I finally made it to the head of the line, I had the urge to step mid-way toward the cashier while the previous transaction finished. But the cashier apparently did not notice me and instead beckoned the next person remaining in the lineup to the till. This woman deliberately insulted me in pushing past, with a few items in her hands. When I tried to explain that I had been in the lineup she nastily said that she had not seen me there. (Of course I'd been facing forward until minutes before.) And she declared angrily that she was in a hurry... obviously no time for my explanation or a gracious action to let me proceed. Having been overlooked by the cashier, I returned to the lineup where each young woman there felt obliged to tell me that was the line-up. I answered that I had been there before, but it had no effect on these entitled young locals. Just as I got to the head of the line again, another cashier opened up, thankfully straight ahead. Would this have happened at the Nesters downtown? I doubt it, on all counts. I found that these Main Street locals were a self-centered bunch and the store was inconsiderate to its customers at a busy time. As for shopping there as a senior, forget it! read more

This is the closest grocer to me but I avoid it as much as I can unless absolutely necessary. They have a cake case that looks like its from the sixties, their in house breads have all sorts of ingredients you can't pronounce and their meat and seafood cases look like they are for display only. I only shop here for random organic produce when they are on sale and a certain tortilla chip from Winnipeg you could only get here and at meinhardts but they stopped carrying that too. There is always some errors when you are checking out and the cashiers are so used to it that they don't even question it when you point them out. The only plus is that they are always so slow, you never have to wait in line. read more

A nice grocery store on Main street....more up scale then the Buy Low...same cost range as IGA but WAY better selection and service...a good alternative to shop at if you live in the 'hood... I went the other day and had and picked up some lunch..pretty good selection at the deli..fresh food...not too spendy...and it's nice and clean and bright...not sketchy like most Main Street grocery stores... The service was good except for the annoying girl at the check out that wanted to take a survey about the store and service....here's my advice..don't bother me with annoying surveys when I just want to pay and eat my lunch... read more

I am leaving another update on Nesters Market because my recent visit to Nesters was rather disappointing. First of all, Beena is an absolute doll. She's the sweetest lady, me and her always talk about travel plans, her children, etc. But some of the other employees there won't even smile or say hello to me. And the manager, Adam comes storming out of his office, gazing at my bags like I stole something with a serious look on his face. It doesn't matter how much money I spend at his store, he never fails to look at me like I'm a thief..so, I don't shop at Nesters Market much anymore. read more

Oops. No apostrophe supposed to be in Nesters. Very Clean, spacious store. Brightly lit, with tables outside to enjoy a bite or bevy. I like this place, although it is most definitely expensive. They have plenty of prepared foods available and seem to know their regulars. This store is a highlight in this neighbourhood. read more

For what you pay, there isn't much variety except over priced stuff that thinks that it is an IGA rather than a gourmet grocery store. It seems to be severely confused between the two. I was craving apples and this was the closet place since Organic Acres down a few blocks closed early for the holidays. The lady at the til was unfriendly, didn't smile. I love nesties! The workers are all amazing! I actually am loving those new cheese bun sandwiches they are making for lunch please keep that going there so much better then the sandwiches. I love the ladies in the deli they are all super friendly and hardworking. The cashiers are all ahhmazing as well. And I love the point system and the contests they have from time to time! Hey I won a bread maker once and I was pretty happy about it. The ginger beer and Shanghai noodles aren't bad either but I love my soup and sandwich for lunch @4.99 u can't beat that. read more

This is a convenient option for me, however I have had a few unpleasant interactions with one of the cashiers who seems to go out of her way to be rather rude to me even though I'm always a happy polite person.. She seems to have a chip on her shoulder. Anyway, customer service is always a big thing for me, so this definitely gives me reason to rate lower. read more

It's good to have a convenient market like this in the hood if you're stuck in a snowstorm or feeling too lazy to visit separate places for produce/meats/dairy, etc. etc. along Main St. It is great for your 'one stop shopping place' . Service is great - my favorite cashier is Beena. She's efficient and very friendly. The produce sucks here compared to Nine Ten or East West. It's not very fresh and quite expensive. I've also had bad experiences with the meat and fish here. Had to come back here five separate occassions to return the chicken/beef and fish because I came home, opened the wrapper and a big whiff of "$%$WQ#$" which reminded me of a bad date I once had, came and hit me in the face. Whoa. I even confronted the butcher and asked him to smell the chicken I brought back. He actually took a whiff and looked me in the eye and said it was fine. I guess he's used to 'bad dates' in the past and didn't mind the smell. read more

I have been coming to this Nesters Market for the last 5 years, and have enjoyed their customer experience. Especially in the Deli Balbir the manager with the greatest smile has always attended to my needs, she always makes a point to have a conversation with me and not make me feel as if I am just another customer. Not only do I go there every other day for lunches, but also for groceries. Shannon the cashier is alway such a pleasant person as well. The amount of care and attention this Nesters gives just makes my experience that much better and I will continue to shop here as well. read more

The problem is solved however, if your looking at the specials on the flyer, DO NOT shop on a weekend, and starts a new week on Sundays.... Which was the standard flyer time for a whole week, customer service ok, not much unlike the old IGA. Which was better. read more
