New Dynasty is a decent Americanized Chinese restaurant. If it's anywhere else, I would give this place a 2 stars. However, since there's very little competition for good Chinese food in DC, I'd give it a 3 stars. Indonesian Fried Rice ($8) - It's pretty good, probably the best thing I've had from this place. It's definitely not authentic but the beef's nicely flavored & I like the fried onion on top. Borneo Fried Rice ($8) - I really don't like this one. There's too much carrot in there & it's lacking in flavor. There're also bunch of lunch specials ranging from 6 - 8 bucks (including a spring roll), which's cheap for DC food. The portion's above average, which's a plus. I'm not a fan of their Orange Chicken. There's too much batter, flour & not enough meat. The sauce's just decent too. Overall - The place's quite small & cramped. The food's Americanized but acceptable for DC's Chinese food standard. I would only go here for their lunch specials because I wouldn't want to pay $10+ for these dishes. I'd recommend getting the Indonesian Fried Rice; best thing from there so far. read more

I had the pleasure of enjoying some takeout from New Dynasty this past weekend and boy, was I blown away! After recently moving to DC, my husband and I have been on the lookout for a good Chinese restaurant near us that delivers. New Dynasty will absolutely be our new go-to restaurant to satisfy our Chinese food cravings! We started with the hot and sour soup and I could have eaten a gallon of it. It was so flavorful and just the right amount of spicy. We also ordered the eggplant and beef, sesame chicken and chicken pad see ew, which were all simply delicious. My colleague always order from here so I finally decided to walk up the street from the office and try something out. I got the shrimp fried rice& a friend got the curry chicken. Both were really good. They have Mon-Fri lunch specials too. This is a nice quiet spot, and you can sit down and watch TV while you wait/eat. Pleasant staff too. Solely a review on the pickup experience, not the food. I went tonight to pick up and no one had a mask on. The man who brought my food outside was maskless, as was the man cooking the food- I could see through the window. They forgot my rice and when the man came back outside to give it to me, only THEN did he put a mask on in our third encounter. Too little, too late for me. Not wearing a mask in DC is punishable by a fine, and it needs to be required in a restaurant setting as well. A shame- it is the best chinese food around, but I'll move on until COVID is over. read more

We were staying nearby and had a fix for Chinese food so decided to give this place a try. Had the chicken corn soup which had a significant amount of corn flour as the soup was like glue. I will put in an asian point of view. I have not seen many good chinese restaurants in the area but this place is good for what you're looking for. I ordered their lo mein and was happily content that their beef was yummy and flavorful as any chinese restaurant should be. A mixture of different asian dishes, I personally would mainly steer towards cantonese/chinese dishes. Make sure to mention if you're a student, they give a free soda/soup! Opt for the soup. Tried the Indonesian fried rice, was pretty good, similar in taste to Chinese fried rice. I would mainly recommend the chicken corn soup and the Mongolian beef, both were delicious! Overall, thr food was good but the service was even better. The main owner of the shop was so friendly, taking the time to ask where we were from and talking to us throughout dinner. He brought out the food extremely fast, our order was ready within 2-3 minutes. The food was 4 stars, but the service and environment was so enjoyable that this place deserves a 5! On a whim, my husband and I tried this place out and we've ordered it already three times. We love Mongolian beef, and had to try it at this place. It was delicious! Quantity was good too, and for me, the added and most important bonus was that it is halal! All their items are halal, so for a devout Zabihah halal eater, I am grateful that there is a Chinese place that serves great food. Every time we ordered, you could tell the food was freshly made and hot. Nothing was good about the food we received from this place. Literally nothing. We ordered via uber eats and were so excited the food had come because we were famished from all of our travels. We got the string beans, orange chicken, fried rice, and veggie spring rolls. Total we spent over $30 for food that ended up in the trash. The string beans were doused in oil, the spring roll tasted like nothing, the fried rice was flavorless....it was just an insult to Chinese cuisine everywhere. Listen. I like the diverse menu, with good renditions of Thai and Indonesian as well as Chinese rice and noodle dishes. (No pork.) You can always put together a tasty and satisfying take-out vegetarian dinner here. As in most local dc Asian restaurants, everything's pretty toned down: I add my own chili, fish sauce, etc at home, but I think next time ask if they'd kick it up a bit, since they do a good job on the basics. read more

My search for excellent Chinese delivery in DC has ended! I've lived in DC for 20 years, walked past New Dynasty probably hundreds of times, never heard anything about it... and in the past month, two of my friends were like, "have you heard New Dynasty has gotten really good?" So... I saw the recent spate of good reviews on Yelp... just ordered in and I was really, really pleased. I don't want to oversell New Dynasty, but... I used to live by Chinatown in NYC, and the dishes I ordered tonight were of that caliber. Cashew chicken was rich in flavor and my friend who annoyed me by ordering the boring sounding vegetable medley dish ended up surprising me, because it was so good! I'm raving about this place simply because the food is so authentic. I lived abroad in China for a bit, and I immediately knew New Dynasty was going to be good when the familiar sounds and smells hit me as soon as I walked through the front door. You can tell a place is pretty legit when you see multiple families scattered throughout the restaurant, all speaking Chinese as they eat. Non-American Chinese cuisine generally has a larger variety of vegetarian options, and New Dynasty follows this trend. If you're looking for a simple, filling, and delicious dish, you can't go wrong with the eggplant. A lot of comments mention that the dumplings are pretty paltry: this is because the dumplings we receive from American-Chinese places are exorbitantly large and doughy. Traditionally, dumplings are supposed to be a lighter side that are shared by friends while other plates provide more "bulk" to the meal. If you order the dumplings, order something else to go along with them. Try the steamed vegetarian dumplings if you're looking for something tasty and light. Don't expect upscale ambiance: the food is served on paper plates with plastic utensils. The TV behind our table was showing footage of the pandas in the reservation in Sichuan. I get food here about 3-4 times a week since I work near by and the food quality is good. Even if I'm trying out a dish I haven't had before and it isn't my taste I can see how someone else would like it because the again the food quality is good. The really messed up the last time I was there but because its not usual I didn't get upset or say anything. So if they do mess up your order it's not a usual thing for them, I'm sure they'll probably fix it as the staff is nice and understanding. I love this place is really close to the salon I work at (thomas shelton hair deisgn) and u call in for an order and they have it ready in no time. It's good for delivery has well live on adams Morgan and they've delivered to my house food always good tasty just sometimes they just use a little too much garlic which I'm not a big fan of. It's a good place to eat in with kids I take my sister and she's only 5 they have a TV there and they had cartoons playing for her while we ate pretty nice.
