General Tso's Chicken, Plain Fried Rice and Steamed Green Beans
    Deborah D.

This little diamond in the rough is gem to the city of Washington, DC if you have not tried it you are missing out. Their General Tao Chicken is chef's kiss to perfection. I had the steamed green beans and they were cooked just like I like them steam with a snap but not over cooked. Their plain fried rice was flavorful and robust with carrots and green onions and peas. It's a small but quaint place to dine for a special date. The best Chinese take out I've ever had. The service was friendly and quick. Definitely will be back to diamond. Check them out DC you are missing out not to try this place... I will be back on my next visit. Chinese Cuisine at its best!!!

New Dynasty is a great Chinese food spot on P St (Dupont). Since 1992, they've offered authentic and delicious food. I'm always looking for quick spots to grab food, and really enjoyed their veggie lo mein. The service was great, and the manager was very kind. A cute place to come on a date or with friends.

Such a great fast food Chinese spot. It's a small location super casual just a great location to get some Chinese food to go. They do have indoor seating if you'd like to eat there. Various menu options it was hard to choose what we wanted for dinner. Everything on the menu sounded delicious but we went with the more popular basic options since you can't go wrong with lomein and fried rice. We used our student discounts and received complimentary won ton soups, bring your student ID and they will give you the option of a free soup or soda. Complimentary white rice also came with our order. The workers were so nice here and there recommendations did not disappoint. Every dish here was full of flavor and of good quality. Tip: If you enjoy spicy ask for their chili oil sauce it has a great kick!

Ordered my food at 12:08pm, food was done at 12:11pm. First red flag but didn't notice it until I got to the corner and thought about it. I got back to work and started to eat and the food taste bland and old. Shrimp was very chewy and the sauce had no flavor even though I asked for it to be spicy. Even the fried rice was bland and clumpy. Maybe it was left over from yesterday. But will not be going back there.

New Dynasty is a hybrid Halal Chinese/pan-Asian restaurant in the heart of DC right off of DuPont circle. The restaurant is small and cozy, with classic Asian dishes and combos made up of shrimp, chicken, beef or vegetables with rice or lo mein noodles. They also have a variety of special dishes available to order! I tried the chicken lo mein and an order of general tso's chicken. The chicken lo mein was wonderful! The noodles were deliciously elastic, the chicken was tender, the vegetable mix was well-seasoned and everything was generally very good. The tso chicken sauce was nice too!

If you like Chinese takeout, Dupont Circle's new Dynasty does a good job. When my family of three did a staycation at a nearby hotel, we ordered pick up via Uber Eats and it was ready within 15 minutes of ordering on a Friday evening. To feed the three of us, we ordered wonton soup, Mongolian Beef, General Tsao's Chicken and Orange Chicken. The three main dishes came with steamed rice. Each was tasty, but the winner was the General Tsao's Chicken. The Mongolian Beef was good, but it was mainly onions with little beef. Service was friendly and prices decent for an expensive city like Washington, D.C.

Not a homerun. The menu was a bit limited, the seating was folding tables and chairs. The king pao chicken was fine, didn't expect it to be served in plastic takeout trays. It was basically non-chain Panda Express... fine... but not really more than fine.

Ordered takeout from this restaurant and it is pretty affordable. It was my first time trying true blue Americanized Chinese food and I was genuinely surprised to see a Chinese family whipping up such dishes. These are comfort food and although they differ vastly from the authentic Asian food I ate whilst growing up, it is still a good introduction to Chinese American food, and an apt choice for those looking for affordable, casual, and no frills dining in the area.

The menu well written to impress but leaves out the important stuff which waiter has to fill in but unable to completely do so. Anyway, the non-alcoholic menu was limited. The appetizers were fine. The soup was cold (surprise), the oysters small and the fluke was decent. The I ordered the duck which was too salty, the duck leg was mushy not to my liking. The breast was ok. The trout was 1/3 cooked, which surprised one of my guests and she left it alone. The grits was on point, the mash potato was okay as well as the rest of the sides. The pasta side was meh, the collard green p*ssed off my black guests cause it didn't taste anything like what they expected. Overall, the place is well-decorated, professional looking. But the cooking was meh, the recipe was too odd (or maybe advanced) for your regular foodie to appreciate. It was not my choice and I think the person who chose it regretted. For the price you could have gone to some Michelin place. Glad I was done.

It feels upscale without feeling stuffy, which I loved. The service was just as good as the space. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of the entire night. Now the food... We started with the Fehleq and it was delicious. Then came the Batata Hara, which was technically for my cousin because I do NOT like white potatoes but that harissa and toum had me reaching back over to their side of the table. The Brussels sprouts were another win, but the Za'atar pide was absolutely my favorite. I could have eaten the whole thing by myself and probably should have ordered another one. And because apparently we were not done eating, we moved on to the regular menu and ordered the tuna tartare. So good. Fresh, flavorful, and definitely not your basic tuna tartare. The drinks were great too. Everything felt well balanced, creative, and matched the food perfectly. By the end of the night, I was already looking at the menu trying to figure out what I am ordering when I come back. And yes, I am definitely coming back. Great food, great drinks, beautiful space, amazing service. Ala understood the assignment. Thank you Yelp DC and Ala for such a fun night!

The Batata Hara: fried potatoes with garlic were dangerously good. Overpowering with the garlic but in the absolute best way possible. The Karahab fried brussels sprouts and the Tawook chicken breast burger were both delicious and well executed. The only miss for me personally was the ribeye gyro but that's less about Ala and more about me finally confirming that gyros and I are just not meant to be. The food gets a solid 5 stars. The seating situation however deserves a conversation. Yelpers were directed to either the bar or outside with no other options offered. The weather cooperated and it wasn't a bad experience outdoors but when the hostess specifically stated that Yelpers sit at the bar or outside, that landed differently. The restaurant appeared beautiful from what I could see and assuming the inside was as lovely as it looked, that felt like a quiet form of segregation that the restaurant should probably revisit. Guests are guests regardless of how they found you. Our waiter was attentive and never forgot about us which is always appreciated. Overall a great experience with one note worth addressing. I'd return but hopefully at the main table next time.

I used to eat Moby Dick literally 4 to 6 times a week , occasionally seven days straight, so that my expenses were so high I asked my tax accountant if I could deduct anything because of Moby Dick. Today, with the food quality low and the prices at Moby Dick easily 50 60 70% higher than I remember them in 2019, I just don't see the dividend of going there anymore after today. And here in this picture attached is my angry and disappointed final moment as a customer at Moby Dick. I specifically asked for kebab kubide with kabob juicy and tomatoes Well done , with rice , so I can feed it to a toddler. I come home and the whole thing is burnt and dry. The girl apparently heard tomatoes well done, and just labeled The whole dish is going to be well done. OK innocent mistake. But It probably happens 30% of the time these days at Moby Dick no matter which branch I visit, where they make some kind of a mistake about the order. In this case, a store manager could only offer to refund me the cost of the kebab when I asked him to please "fix my problem", which was that I need some kind of a dinner for a toddler delivered to me today , because I can't step out again and purchase takeout that she will eat and I don't have time or energy to cook from scratch. I wanted him to fix the problem please by sending the replacement meal via a delivery service like Uber Eats. And he refused. And he didn't offer to pay for my cost of ordering Uber Eats with the delivery fee and the tip and such. Non-parents might think I'm overreacting, you have a right to feel that way. But if you're the parent of a 2 1/2 year-old who will only eat Moby Dick kebab and rice or beef Bolognese and absolutely nothing else, you understand my situation maybe... I knew that I was spending probably $2700 a year on Moby Dick, multiple by my 17 years in Washington , that's a whopping $46,000; less , actually , considering their food quality went down in 2020 and I don't go there as much now. Let's just call it 35,000? How much money do you have to spend at a kebab takeout kiosk to matter as a customer? Long story short, there are these epiphany moments as a customer where you have the last straw. I've felt it with Amazon, I certainly feel it with my home insurance companies and my healthcare companies, etc. There are these epiphany moments when you realize the Customer relationship is completely over. So, good bye Moby Dick. Thanks for the memories.
