I had heard about this spot and visited for the first time recently. I bought a surprise bag from Too Good To Go, containing buffet leftovers. They have parking on both sides of their business: one by the store and the other by the restaurant. There were a few people inside shopping and I picked up my food. I decided to look around the store for a bit, they have a good variety of Indian spices, snacks, cookies and other dry goods. I also bought some veggie samosas for $1.50 each, a good deal. They also had a display case of desserts and pastries. The food I received included rice, chicken tandoori, some curry, and fried bread. The chicken was spicy and tasted good, but some of the rice was undercooked and the curry wasn't great. The samosas were pretty simple but good, and I love the mint chutney and tamarind sauce that come with it. This is a neat place to peruse and pick up some items to cook Indian food. Maybe their lunch buffet is better fresh but I don't think the bag met the anticipated value. read more

This place has both the restaurant and grocery store. My review is on both. First thing on the food, this is more like a quick order style of food but they do have dine in option with lot of tables. The place is kept ok clean, and restroom is maintained ok as well. The parking lot is shared with other stores. Ordered Chicken Biryani and it was prepared quick and tasted okay for a late evening dinner. I see at least 3 other tables were occupied and some of them were regulars and seem to enjoy the food. The Lady does a good job in getting the orders in and handing food out. The Grocery store is definitely a good one and you will feel little congested in the aisle spacing but got all the items you would expect in an Indian store. read more

Price Gouging Terrible pricing. Cashier said $24 for 20lb rice but charged us $26.99. Be aware of no pricing on rice. Don't waste your time asking for the price when they can manipulate the price and charge more plus they ask for a tip when you use a card to pay. read more

Ambiance score zero. I've been in nicer dining facilities in Afghanistan. Service..he was there and got our naan which was slightly overcooked. The food wasn't mediocre, it was better than that. But not by much. But the parking was easy. One side note. 3 Americans eating and the server turns on utube tv and goes to the Indiana gangsta rap channel then leaves the room. This is a little hole in the wall grocery store that sells products, clothing, decor, hot foods and sweets. Mostly to go no sitting area. I was there about 20 min chatting with another patron and their door was constantly opening and closing with people picking up hot food. I tried one of their meals I told him to surprise me. I would recommend trying them. I would love a personal shopper here who can explain their items and how to cook with them. Lots of fascinating items. read more

First, this review is ONLY for their cooked food not the store nor staff. I go to this store for my own Indian grocery needs but I don't like the food (and I'm Punjabi). A friend ordered food from here as a nice gesture. However, it was very salty and the masala / spices were too overpowering. Again, store is great, people are great, but I would not eat here (or at least eat what was delivered to me) again. read more

This was probably my most underwhelming experience dining out in Phoenix. I went with the Indian buffet. I appreciated the water having lemon slices, cucumber slices, and mint in a water dispenser. On the buffet was both veg and non-veg items. I went with the Samosa, veggie spring roll, rice pilaf, Chana Masala, Gobi Manchuarian aka Indo Chinese cauliflower, and a daal. Also on offer were Papadam, various chutney, and a salad. Some room for improvements and henceforth the two stars was they had real plates yet had plastic forks and plastic spoons. Adding real silverware would be a much needed improvement. They didn't have glasses because they had styrofoam cups. A much needed improvement would be to have real glasses or real cups. When dining out besides eating low on the food chain aka I follow a plant based diet and have been vegan 25 years I feel eschewing plastic silverware and styrofoam cups is essential to leave a light footprint on Mamma Earth. Had I known that they had plastic cups and styrofoam cups I would have gone elsewhere. I think adding at least one more veg dish to the buffet would have been nice such as aloo aka potatoes or baingan aka eggplant dish. Lastly there was a hiccup. Fresh naan apparently came with the buffet and didn't find that out until I checked out. Would have been nice to get an order of plain fresh naan to begin the meal. All in all I am giving two stars for what I felt could have been better and noted my suggested room for improvements to the restaurant on how to bring its game up several notches higher! read more

I decided to stop at the New India Bazaar. I have driven by on several occasions and wanted to review another local restaurant & grocery store specializing in products from India they have an ample selection of dry goods, spices, Himalayan desserts, and frozen foods. They also serve a lunchtime buffet and dinner entree with seating in the back. I like cardamom and ginger in my coffee. I've bought green cardamom pods from many sources. New India Bazaar has the freshest, largest, highest quality cardamom I've found. My family likes cardamom and ginger in their coffee. They do not know why it tastes so good. The service here is Family Human all the way. The sweet selection is vast. First off the place is no frills for the market, but selection wise it's top tier for at home cooking . The spices are exceptionally priced and they have one heck of a variety in general. Attached to it there's an authentic Indian restaurant/buffet style. It looks delicious and fresh, I have eaten there before but it was owned by a different proprietor.. it definitely had the best tandoori chicken I've ever had ( and I'm a nut case for India cuisine) once I try it again with the new owner I'll update my review. In the market itself they have many many flavors of Indian sweets , excellent prices and phenomenal quality. Their vegetable samosas are 100% delicious and even come with 2 different dipping sauces.. I came here for jumbo samosas and left with desserts too. The store is quaint and the grocery has just enough of what you need. I didn't try the restaurant but maybe next time. I got four random desserts that looked good and loved two and the others were harder and sweeter than I thought they'd be. I'd definitely recommend them for desserts and jumbo samosas. Go here for their samosas and kachori. It is just $1 each and tastes so good. It is an Indian store with a restaurant at the back as well. We usually go here for snack items including sweets. Never tried food in their restaurant but prices are so damn reasonably here for everything. I would highly recommend this place. Don't expect a very welcoming greeting from the uncle at the counter but they are nice people. The store is small and very congested, however, they have so many things to be considered. read more

Came here again looking for sweets late one night, did not disappoint. Still haven't given the restaurant a try but it's on my to do list. Indian food just intimidates me and I haven't worked up the courage to try it. Our all time favorite jalebi is still as good as I remember. I imagine it tastes identical to the tea cups on the original Willie Wonka movie; delicately crisp and crunchy on the outside but as soon as you bite, gooey sweet syrup floats everywhere. They have a brown sugar one and a regular sugar flavor. The brown sugar one has a stronger flavor, very similar to raw honey. We walked away with a half pound of each. We also tried barfi, they have so many flavors. If you have tried Mexican jamoncillo candy, it's basically the same thing but less sweet. It's made from condensed milk and sugar like jamoncillo is. The store clerk was very friendly and courteous, we took our sweet time looking at all their grocery items and candy and not once did he make us feel rushed or unwelcome. I was so happy that they have indigo dye, it's half the price of what I get it for from amazon, that in it of itself is enough to make the drive here worthwhile. Can't wait to go back for more jalebi. Maybe next time we will try the food as well. read more

Tiny shop in a strip mall close to downtown Phoenix They have a few groceries, Indian spices and other Knick knacks the deli sells fresh samosas, kachori and an impressive variety of Indian sweets like jalebi, milk cake, fancy variations of gulab jamun, kaju roll etc which one cannot find anywhere else in the valley. They also operate a small restaurant next door where you can buy curries by the oz starting from $4.99 (which is unbeatable price wise) I have tried a lot of the items some of them are good while others are just okay The chicken tikka Masala was very mediocre. One thing I will say is order ahead they are very slow and I have had to wait on numerous occasions even after placing my order well in advance Customer service is not great and I feel the store could be cleaner They sell Indian pizzas which are quite delicious Cheers! read more

The young woman checking me out looking me in my eyes and shorted me on my change, giving herself/the business a two dollar tip. There were old and empty food containers on the counter, which was off putting. To top it off there was hair (something like an eyelash) in my main entree so I tossed it and my naan was undercooked. The prepared food side of the place has delicious basic fare. Lots of vegan options. Some things are far too spicy for me, so if spicy is your thing, you'll be very happy. Samosas are $1and they have an inexpensive buffet. The thing that pushed my review to 5 stars is the grocery side. The aisles are filled with spices, preserves, seeds, nuts, pickled things,dried beans, dried fruit, grain, snacks and household goods. they have health goods like oils, otc remedies, skincare, balms and henna. They have frozen veggies and fruit too. I like the frozen breads. The last and most interesting area of the store is the sweets counter. They have different kinds of milk based fudge in so many flavors. They have sweets made of cheese or beans, or grains, or carrots soaked in cardemom syrup or sweet rosewater. My favorite Kaju is made of cashew flour and simple syrup. read more

For the market side alone, it has most anything you could want to prepare your own Indian food, except for meats and vegetables. Some really interesting items and fun to browse. They did not disappoint by having paneer, fenugreek, curry leaves and multiple chutneys. I do not know about the restaurant side. Service seems to be an issue. The younger man was reasonably helpful, although not overly enthusiastic, and an old man was helpful but quite distant. Maybe not warm and fuzzy, but it worked. This place is pathetic. They reuse old leftover food to cook food just to save some money and don't bother about customers getting sick because of that. I was eating homemade fresh food from last couple of days but one friend got samosas from this place. Samosas taste wo so pathetic and clearly looked like potato filling inside was not fresh and few days old. Me and my wife were so hungry that we still ate that samosa. I didn't get a good feeling after eating that and next morning only we both got sore throat / body ache / fever / tummy upset. Thank god our kids refused to eat those samosas and they are healthy. I am 200% positive it happened because of samosas from this store. Mmmmm curry. I stopped in to this place by accident. Honestly, I was looking for another restaurant and found it was no longer in business. Driving up the 7th Street Corridor in Phoenix, I found New India Bazaar. When I get the urge for curry I have another go to Indian food place but it always left me with heartburn. Not New India Bazaar. Don't let the outside deter you from trying this place. The strip bar next door is de classe but the food here is worth it. I was excited to see that they had a lunch buffet with several options. Butter chicken, tandori, curry, masala, curried black lentils and curry chickpeas, fragrant white rice and Nann all you can eat for the low price of $10. I'm adventurous and like to try all the various options so i pile some rice in the middle of my plate and add the various options on the side. Chicken in all the options was moist and flavorful except the tandori. I found the tandori chicken dry. The nann was delicious and warm. Nann is constantly being made fresh. There was a second buffet with dessert options that I did no try. I have been back once and still find the food tastey without the heartburn. If you're into fine dinning and frills and thrills keep driving. This place is all about the food. The service is okay. They ask you if you're dinning in or to go, take your money and get you on your way. read more

Worst Indian food ever.. if I could give negative star I would.. I was traveling from Chicago with my whole family and llittle kids and we were all starving and could eat anything but this food. The mango lassi and raita had stale yogurt and the Rasmalai was stale taste to it. The chicken curry was another disappointment. Overall we slept hungry after spending 87.50 USD for 3 adults.. thankfullly I tasted the food myself before giving to my toddlers , this food could make them sick. read more
