    Combination Special

The pictures made the food look great, and the price was reasonable, but the food was very disappointing. I ordered the beef broccoli, sweet and sour pork, and BBQ pork fried rice. The beef didn't seem like real beef, and most of my lunch ended up in the trash. I usually love hole-in-the-wall Chinese spots, but unfortunately, I won't be returning.

A true family-run business. The food reminds me of the trays you'd see at family parties or the great combo deals we grew up with in the 90s and 2000s. The price and value you get here is something you rarely find anymore. The décor isn't fancy, but I actually like the laid-back vibe -- it feels like a neighborhood spot that gets the job done without all the extra fluff. I prefer that over places with overly attentive service or waiters checking in while you're mid-bite. Love supporting a place that focuses on good food and good value.

Some friends had a party and catered some food from New Jade China. We've had their food at their other location off of Berryessa and Capitol Ave. Typical Cantonese food. The food was tasty and good to see the quality was consistent! The chow fun noodles were soft and in good large pieces. Overall, 3.5 stars!

Finally had the chance to come back to the restaurant after a long time. Came here for lunch with my dad and we both ordered the #6 plate. The #6 plate consists of chicken Chow Mein, Broccoli Beef, Kung Pao Chicken, and an Egg Roll. The portions were big! This was enough for 2-3 meals. Everything tasted great and the meal was prepared quite quickly. They typically aren't too busy or crowded, but they are still a popular Chinese Restaurant. I will be going back soon.

My coworker introduced me to this chinese restaurant when we had our department team potlucks. Many of us pitch in and order several party trays each time. The Salt & Pepper Fish is a must! Today, I needed to stop by and inquire about catering a family event. This was my first time here in person. This little gem is a small kitchen with 5 tables, 4 seats each, if you decide to come eat here for lunch. The cashier at the time I visited was very sweet and brought out my take out to me when it was ready. While waiting, I was studying their menu. Prices have gone up, not by a percentage on the overall menu, but vary depending on items. For the taste and quantity, the prices are reasonable.

I wish I could eat here weekly. Food is great. Service is fast, portions are pre-pandemic. It's not inexpensive but it IS worth it.

New Jade is always good. Great portions too!! Please order ahead as the wait can exceed 20 - 30 minutes if there's a crowd.

Ask the Community - New Jade China

Are the workers supposed to be wearing mask when preparing food? I went today to pick up food I did not see the workers with one at all.

Yes. They ALL should still be wearing masks. I went there two weeks ago and they were wearing masks. Maybe they don't understand the new opening rules of California.

Getting them to-go or taking them home just isn't the same experience--they are best enjoyed hot right out of the kitchen. The Environment: The restaurant itself is very basic and could definitely use a deep clean, especially the floors. If you're looking for a romantic lunch, a date spot, or a sleek environment, you will be disappointed. Final Verdict: I definitely recommend this spot if you want a fast, delicious dumpling fix and don't care much about ambiance. Just lower your expectations for the decor, dine in, and enjoy the food!

If you're going to be paying $60-$70 for two people, you would at least expect your food not to be burnt and the staff not be rude! I have been looking forward to going to this place for two years, it was a birthday dinner and I was so disappointed by my experience. I understand that it's downtown San Jose and we came in the evening, so maybe that's just how closing staff is. First off when we were seated, I asked to be moved to a more comfortable's table because the chairs were really uncomfortable for me. The staff seemed irritated and said "I guess" which was the first red flag because it's nerve-racking enough to ask for a special request and to be met with an unprofessional answer like that was disheartening. Secondly, two orders of dumplings came out burnt, which was seriously disappointing. We could barely eat them. We didn't end up finishing them. I brought this up to staff. He told me they weren't burnt and that's just how they are. I know the difference between burnt and browned and these were definitely burnt hard on the bottom and inedible. He begrudgingly told me well "I'm sorry but you'd still would have to pay for another order". I don't think that's fair at all so I said "it's fine were ok" I don't wanna give this company any more of my money anyway if this is how they treat their customers. Lastly, once we were done with our food and paid the check, the man came back to our table and asked us if there was anything he could do for us and how if we enjoyed our meal this felt like a slap in the face after everything I've already asked of him that he refused and denied and being met with a disingenuous offer just felt petty. All in all, I wouldn't go here if you're looking for food that is not burnt Service that is helpful and hospitable. Andexperience that is anything above fast casual dining.

We walked in right at opening to a completely empty dining room. Instead of leaving, we browsed the menu and ordered XLB, pot stickers, jelly fish, and pea sprouts (my personal fav) so glad we didn't leave! The XLB are a nice size, with each precious dumpling cradled in its own foil wrapper for maximum soup retention. The potstickers were full of flavor, packed with protein, delicately wrapped, and had the crispiest, golden bottoms! Jelly fish was fresh and the pea sprouts were a hit! The poor owner answering the phones made sure (in all languages) to inform folks calling in that there were a different May Flower than the other place-felt terrible for her but also understood the importance of differentiating right up front. I can only imagine the number of misorders they have probably dealt with. By the time we were done, the dining room was filled with a mix of what seemed like regulars, locals, large groups of families, small groups of friends... this feels like we stumbled upon a tiny hole in the wall restaurant where everyone who has been before just knows the quality and taste they are going to be getting! Highly recommend you check this place out for a dine in or take out order!

This is one of the handful of American Chinese restaurants that stood the test of time. As is typical of these places, there was an old lady manning the counter and also acting as the server. And as is typical of these places, there was table at the end where they were prepping the fruits and veggies. It's truly remarkable how they are all similar in these ways! We got a couple of dishes and they came out at lightning speed. * Chowmein-3/5- delicious with lots of umami flavor but shockingly greasy. I mean I am used to oily noodles but this one exceeded some limits. *crispy salt and pepper eggplant-3/5- I had a stellar version of this dish at another restaurant in Sunnyvale and was stoked when I saw this on the menu here. Unfortunately it was a poor representation of the dish I loved there. The batter was too much and the dish felt heavy. The hot oil or sauce they had felt old and extremely vinegary as well, I would recommend avoiding it.
