Came for my Chico de Mayo dinner. Seem busy, hard for first timer to figure out restaurant entering procedures. Sat at the counter. Service was steady. Saw Carne Guisada tacos on yelp. Came for that. It wasn't what I expected but delicious. The salsa and guacamole was amazing. I would come back. Not for Carne Guisada tacos. I'll try another dish.

This place served authentic Mexican food. The beans and rice were great. The plate I had had an enchilada taco rice beans, and a salad all for under $14. The wait staff was very attentive. Excellent choice if you're looking for good authentic Mexican food not far off the freeway either if you're traveling past Pittsburgh make the stop.

i came in with a friend for a good hamburger! i had lived around this area in Pittsburg about 10 years ago, and it definitely has developed in this area these past years, with much more restaurants and spots opening im glad they still have their great bean dip, and customer service was nice from the jump. i ordered a classic cheeseburger, and it was delish!

I am updating my review from 15 yrs ago. I have eaten here several times since my last review and I must say the food is back to being delicious again. The service however can be a lot better. Our waitress wasn't very attentive, but that can be an easy fix by management. I love how they expanded the restaurant even bigger and there are 2 different dining areas you can be seated at.

You truly don't know what you got till it's gone. Born and raised in Pittsburg and didn't appreciate the Mecca right down the street until I moved away. Now I'm a state away and somewhat glad or else I'd be eating here frequently. The best parts about the New Mecca: local eats, several options, have it your way, and the best bean dip! They had great service, checked on us frequently, let us customize our dishes, and were very patient with the family and two loud and wild toddlers. The tastes and vibes were great, no place like home with the good eats of the New Mecca.

I love the vibes in this restaurant. It definitely felt like walking to an establishment with lots of history. If only the walls could talk! We came here with a larger party around 9pm. We got seated quickly and were given lots of great suggestions on what items were most popular. SO and I got the flautas plate and one of the combo plates. Everyone loved the flour tortilla chips and the bean and cheese dip and salsa we enjoyed from the beginning of the meal. I'd love to come here again and try more things!

When my friend and I go out to lunch, he always insists on coming to this place. I don't know why. The service was fast and friendly but the food? Not good, not good at all. There's two sides to the restaurant - the booth side which has some nice wooden booths and the other side which is, minimalistic to put it nicely. No sign of it being a Mexican restaurant with a minute amount of Mexican decorations, no music and/or TV stations. The chips are bite-sized which is nice, the bean dip was solid as they put red sauce and cheese on top but the salsa was mediocre. He ordered a combo meal, which he liked. I ordered the compadre meal. The presentation was sloppy as the burritos (I didn't know they weren't wet or covered) weren't rolled with any sense of pride as they were loosely rolled then thrown on the plate. Inside there was shredded chicken (dry), pork or beef (dry) and chorizo with egg (very dry). The burritos were simply the filling and tortilla - no cheese, no sauce, no pico, no meat drippings, nothing - just dried fillings. I should've requested some sour cream, queso dip or more salsa to put on them but I didn't. The beans were okay and the rice was slightly better. The rice was the best part of my meal by default, because everything else was just shy of terrible. They have canned sodas. I had a MUG root beer. It's a 30 minute drive to get here and for the life of me, I don't understand the appeal. I'm sure my friend will insist we come here next time and if I can't convince him to go somewhere else, I'll try something else on the menu. Maybe then I'll find something that resembles good Mexican food. If it was just me, I would actively avoid this place.

And when we did order our desert we asked for the CARAMEL churros and she brings us it with Chocolate....when I asked for the caramel and not the chocolate she said "oh we don't have caramel, but it still says that on the menu" not even really an apology either to that. I did start out to give this a 4 start but due to the experience of feeling rushed, I'm giving it a 3 star. Food again was cooked so so well! Yea after careful consideration and not being the only one who noticed lol this place is kinda racist. It was VERY obvious how my mother in law and i were treated compared to the other customers. I must admit I was jealous of her tacos as they were still unbroken after removing them from the wrap they're served in because it seems every time I've ordered their crispy tacos the shell always breaks open and splits at the bottom. Very disappointing. The taco salad was very tasty with all of my favorites included. We enjoy eating here and my only real complaint is their carne asada soft taco that comes filled with whole pinto beans besides the meat. I don't understand this and to me it really doesn't add to the taco. I didn't know they served them like this or I would have requested no to the beans and I love whole and refried beans, but not in my tacos! Their restaurant is colorful with wonderfully painted or printed images of Mexican life. The staff always seem quite friendly and they are usually very busy. Plus they serve carveza! Their salsa bar doesn't do it for me though, whats supposed to be their mild, Pico de Gallo is too liquidity and as much as I use to enjoy spicy food my 68 y/o body just cannot tolerate it anymore, especially on the way out one day I hope to order their anaconda burrito to share with some friends

However, as I opened my order upon returning home, I discovered: 1) one item was missing, although it was listed on the receipt attached to the bag. 2) where I had ordered 2 enchiladas plates and 1 chicken fajita plate, I received 1 enchiladas and 2 chicken. When I called the restaurant, the woman answering the phone understood my concerns and explained that the person taking my order was new. ??? I responded, "Ok, mistakes happen, can I get the charge for missing item credited back to my credit card?" Long story shorter, she couldn't do that and I would have to drive 25 minutes back to the store to receive my original order (with a free dessert as apologies). For some unexplained reason she would not be able to credit my card. I was confused, she was confused and she stated she would call me back (presumably after speaking to a superior). NEVER called back. Willing to presume there are reasons why I wasn't called back like, no phone number, or lost my phone number? At the end of the day, customer must assume responsibilities for checking the contents of there takeaway order, no matter how well you tip the restaurant. Again, food is really good...

It was packed with flavorful, juicy meat and had the ideal ratio of beans, rice, and cheese -- every bite was balanced and satisfying. No skimpy filling here. It was loaded with tender, well-seasoned meat, and the bread was soft, fresh, and toasted perfectly. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside -- exactly how a torta should be. Every component worked together so well. And the piña agua fresca? Super fresh and refreshing -- the perfect complement to everything we ordered. Thank God for another meal, because this place definitely did not serve one made with care…read more The experience started off confusing before we even got the food. We pulled up around 12:50, and the sign on the door said closed, while the lighted sign said open. Mixed signals right away. We literally had to call just to find out if anyone was even there. I ordered a super burrito wet, half green and half red sauce. I was told what it came with, but when I got the food, key ingredients were missing. No real sour cream, no proper pico de gallo, and barely anything that made it feel like an actual super burrito. I also ordered another super burrito and asked for ranchero meat, because that is clearly something they sell there. If you sell ranchero tacos, then obviously ranchero meat exists in your kitchen and should be an option in a burrito too. Instead, the burrito came in a box looking like they already knew it wasn't put together right. When I got home and opened it, I was honestly disappointed. The photos speak for themselves. This was not a super burrito. It was a sloppy tortilla overloaded with rice and meat, with almost nothing else inside to balance it out. No beans, barely any vegetables, no real pico, and no care in the way it was made. It looked like somebody just stuffed whatever was easiest in there and called it done. And before anyone tries to say I didn't ask for certain things, you can literally see tiny pieces of tomato in there, which shows some kind of veggie mix was supposed to be part of it. But overall, it was still mostly just rice and meat. That is not what people expect when they order a super burrito. The wet burrito was just as bad presentation-wise. It should have been smothered properly, with that melty, flavorful, put-together look. Instead, it looked rushed, sloppy, and halfway done. Even the cheese on top looked like it was thrown on without any effort. This whole meal felt like it was made with no pride. Confusing service, missing ingredients, weak execution, and burritos that looked more like a struggle meal than something worth paying for. Grateful to have food, always. But I would not come back for this. Here's a shorter, sharper Yelp version too: Pulled up around 12:50 and the sign said closed, but the open light was on. We had to call just to see if anyone was there. That should've been the first warning. Ordered a wet super burrito, half green and half red, and another super burrito with ranchero meat. What I got was a sloppy mess. The photos speak for themselves. These were not super burritos -- they were mostly rice and meat stuffed into a tortilla with missing ingredients and no care. No real pico de gallo, no beans, barely any balance, and the wet burrito looked rushed and poorly finished. The cheese on top looked thrown on, not melted and smothered the way it should be. One burrito even came in a box looking like it had already fallen apart. If you sell ranchero tacos, then ranchero should clearly be available as burrito meat too. No excuse there. The places was alone for it to be lunch hour . Not a lot of people Overall, this food looked and tasted like it was made with no pride. Grateful for the meal, but definitely not worth the money.
