Went here with a friend. I got pho with beef and tendon. My friend got pho with meatballs. The food was great! I wouldn't say there was anything special about the pho, but it was very good. It was also cheap (great for poor college students). The bowls also came with A LOT of meat and tendon. It was great. The workers were very sweet and friendly. I saw them even being a remote over for lady just in case she wanted to watch some TV. For the people complaining about the service, I think it's good to remember this is a mom and pop Vietnamese restaurant, not an American restaurant. Different culture means what is expected for a waiter/waitress to do might be different. As long as they are friendly, they are good in my book. read more

Very good pho in long beach! Not too salty and very flavorful. This was the first time I ever finished my whole bowl of pho. It's most likely because the bowls are smaller than other pho places I've been, but i think it's just the bowl size. There seems to be the same amount of noodles and broth as other places. Can't believe I finished it.... I got the regular size pho tai (rare beef) and the beef was inside the bowl and not on the side like someone else had mentioned. not sure why the rating is so high or why its been suggested by the news, but this places pho is simply not good. the broth is extremely cloudy, and almost certainly reused, causing of the excess sweetness and muddy flavor. the limes,basil and culantro were fresh, but the noodles broke up into small pieces and the raw meat was packaged in a small plastic bag directly beneath the cooked meat in my to go order. Writing a review on behalf of my brother and sister in law they went to eat there yesterday with my dad (that had shrimp) and their 2 kids, they ate beef with noodles and got sooooooo SICK! They have food poisoning my brother needs to go to the hospital, they both threw up all night and all day today. We got here around 6:45pm and they were closing at 7:30pm. There was one person eating and the place was empty. I did see several people getting food to go. The Pho was good, nothing to write home about. We also tried to order the shrimp spring rolls which were not available but later on after we got our pho the lady came back and told us that they were available now. The spring roll was really good, glad we were able to try them. I would recommend this place for a good bowl of Pho. read more

Just recently moved to Long Beach, CA and of course one of our first stops is a pho restaurant! We found New Pho on Yelp, it is easy to get to and there is a parking lot which is nice. We ordered the fresh spring rolls - which they are very generous with their portions, there were about 4 rolls cut in half (8 pieces) with really great peanut sauce. It was the perfect appetizer. Next, I got the rare beef pho soup. The toppings/sides that came with it were so fresh which also complements the pho perfectly. The size of the bowl was huge, with a good amount of noodles and meat. The sauces on the table were a great addition as well, I like my pho super spicy & they have a great chili sauce to put in the soup! All in all, great place to go for breakfast/lunch/dinner, generous portions for a great price! Very flavorful meal, and great staff who are very attentive. Ordered over the phone (they don't have online ordering) and it was ready in 5 minutes. I got the P4 (flank and steak) with rice noodles (gluten-free!). The broth was a bit on the salty side as others have said, and the only bad part about ordering to-go is that the noodles are on the side and kind of turn into a giant noodle ball before you get them into the broth but it was fine. The meat was portioned well, especially or the price ($7.00ish) and the toppings were super fresh and also generously portioned. I will absolutely return here. The guy who helped me (perhaps the owner) was very friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. Adjust the broth ever so slightly and this would be 5 stars for me. read more

I found this place during my never-ending search for Long Beach pho. The biggest hurdle has been finding good places that are open late, since pho is a lunch thing and most places seem to close in the afternoon or evening. Luckily for me, this place is open to a reasonable hour (8 PM) every day except when they're closed on Tuesdays. Anyway, ordered some pho and spring rolls to go. The man behind the counter was soooooooo nice and kind, he definitely bumped up the rating by a star. He even brought me some water while I waited! A small gesture, but appreciated and it shows extra effort on his part. The pho itself was delicious. The broth had good flavor and there was plenty of meat! Not the most meat, I've still seen a place or two with more, but this was definitely on the happy end of the spectrum. The spring rolls seemed extra long. Maybe bigger rice paper or something, but I'm definitely not complaining. The peanut sauce that came with the spring rolls was different. It was more chunky, more separated than I usually see, which I think can be explained by a homemade peanut sauce instead of the homogenized stuff that comes from a bucket in so many other restaurants. The portion size was good, the food was freakin' delicious, and the quality of the ingredients tasted high. As of today, this place holds the #1 spot on my personal Long Beach pho list and I'm definitely coming back. Often. The broth wasn't greasy and had a stronger star anise flavor than I typically like, but still good for the price! There are plenty of pho places on Anaheim St. but I usually come here when I have a pho craving in the LBC. New Pho is a Cambodian/Vietnamese eatery that sells a variety of noodle dishes - including pho of course! Other dishes include mi (egg noodles), stir fried rice noodles, vermicelli, and rice plates. Today, I got the seafood banh canh (which is supposed to be a Vietnamese udon-esque type of noodle dish), but here, it's more of a hu tieu (for all of you non-Vietnamese food connoisseurs - that's a thick flat rice noodle). Although I was a little disappointed that what I ordered wasn't actually banh canh, it was still nonetheless tasty. The broth was very flavorful and tasty. It wasn't full of MSG or fat either. Yay! But the seafood toppings left much to be desired - it was imitation crab, 2 small shrimp, some very thin slices of fish cake, and some sort of shrimp ball (those frozen seafood balls at the Asian supermarkets). However, for about $6, you can't really complain. The noodles were tasty and cooked well. The size of the bowl was also decent. I've also had the pho here before. It is pretty decent, albeit a little on the small side, but it had the various cuts of beef and the broth likewise to the banh canh was very flavorful. My friends have had the chicken pho, vermicelli, and rice plates - all of which they enjoyed. The food here is pretty good. It doesn't compare to the Vietnamese cuisine of Westminster/Garden Grove, but it gets the job done. It's cheap and comes in decent sizes. The restaurant is also run by a very friendly family as well, so that's always a plus. They also take credit card. Yay! FYI, the neighborhood and parking lot are both a little sketchy, so be aware of that. read more

This restaurant used to be "Pho 54," but now it's under new ownership. I used to go to Pho 54, which I'd call 'fo fiddy fo.' New PHO restaurant is AMAZING and clean! I usually order the chicken, white meat, pho and everything is always fresh and delicious. Veggies are fresh, broth is tasty, vermicelli good, and the chicken is fresh and not skimpy. The restaurant is quaint inside and they usually have Asian programming on, which I love because I feel immersed in the culture. I typically prefer authentic ethnic cuisine vs. faux. So no faux pho here :) The owner is genuine, warm, and sweet. His name is "John." The customer service is pretty good, but be patient if you get a non-English speaking server. Consider yourself beamed to Vietnam, without paying air fare. Just order by the letters/numbers and you're fine. For example, instead of ordering chicken noodle soup, I request G1 :) The restaurant is in a Vietnamese/Cambodian neighborhood, which is located just south of Alamitos Avenue on Anaheim Street with it's own parking. A small bowl of Pho Ga Uc (chicken meat noodle soup) is $5.50 and you can get 3 spring rolls for $4.25. read more

Location-wise, it's probably the closest to me, so since my normal pho joint was closed this week, I decided to stop by New Pho. I've been once before, and wasn't wowed or super disappointed. They have a small parking lot next to the restaurant that leads to a side entrance. It's a pretty typical no frills Pho place. Nothing fancy, just simple tables and chairs. We were there for lunch on a Thursday. There was about 6 tables occupied. It's not a huge place, but not a bad size. Only two servers, and one of them seemed inexperienced so she looked a bit overwhelmed running around. I ordered a regular pho chin (well-done brisket), and my hubby wasn't hungry so he just ordered the fresh squeezed lemonade. My pho comes out, and it's not steaming hot, just warm. Plus the noodles were all clumped together. Once I separated the noodles, they just overtook the soup. I eat pho for the soup, and there just wasn't enough. The broth was alright, a bit bland, but not bad. The "fresh squeezed" lemonade was so not fresh. It tasted like watered down country time lemonade. So not worth getting. Overall, the food is just okay. If I'm really really craving pho, and Pho Hong Phat is closed, then I may stop by again. Oh, and it's cash only, but there's an ATM next door. read more

Unfortunately, I cannot validate giving more than 1 star. The only reason I am even giving 1 star is because the employees seem nice and they make sure you have water when your cup runs dry. But, since this is a restaurant, I must base this off of the food, which was borderline inedible. We got the vermicelli bowl with charbroiled pork and egg rolls and between two people, we barely made a dent in it. The pork was way too salty and the egg rolls were very bland and soggy. The vermicelli seems like it was soaked in water over night, and was almost mushy. When the shrimp spring rolls came out, we didn't touch a single one because it looked and felt like plastic. Very disappointing since the reviews on Yelp seemed decent enough (4 stars!). Unless you want to throw away money and leave with a dissatisfied stomach, I would steer clear. read more

The pho is good. Good broth that isn't so oily. The meat quality is good. They open early, too, and deliver which is all pluses. I'd def recommend the pho here. However, what they call beef meatballs was the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten, looked just like a cubed pieces of meat that tasted bland I literally couldn't eat another bite and gave the overpriced dish to my dog. $7 for a few pieces of nasty beef?
