I was looking for a new mechanic and was referred to New Ride Inc by someone in my personal network. I took my car in for an oil change and some other routine maintenance and we came up with a good maintenance plan. I knew the minute I walked into the shop that I had found a good mechanic, this is a good old school shop that is unfortunately a dying breed in the world today. Jimmy told me exactly what my car would need and when, and we came up with a good service plan for my Volvo for what I could wait for and what should be done sooner than later, with estimated prices so I could budget for future service and replacement wear items (brakes and what not). They did an outstanding job on repairing some rust in the door panels and matched the paint so you can't tell it was painted. I highly recommend Jimmy and his crew for auto repair. They have already saved my butt twice in a pinch. They also have extremely quick turn around time for oil changes. In one instance, my driver's side mirror was knocked off. They identified that I didn't need a completely new mirror and managed to fix my mirror very quickly in a practical way for a good price. In another instance, I found that one of my tires had a leak (probably from hitting a pothole). The tire was completely flat, but luckily I parked near New Ride. They were able to get me going in less than 24 hours for a great price. This crew is small, but they are very efficient and practical. read more

I had spent nearly two weeks talking to the owner about a car I really wanted to purchase, and had everything set up, he told me the down payment amount, which I told him I would be able to bring when I come in to see the car, and then he tells me I have to wait to get financed after he gets me financed already. When I told him I couldn't put off getting a car any longer, and that I needed one by the next day (mind you, I spent two weeks setting this up with jimmy, the owner.) he tells me to shop elsewhere. We were looking for a good solid used car and a friend of ours recommended New Ride in Evanston, Il. We went to look at what they had, and even checked on line. We met the owner and he recommended a vehicle once he heard what our needs were. We test drove a Chevy Tahoe and the owner Jimmy gave us the history of the car and gave us time to go thru the car. Drove out over 45 min to check out 1 of his used cars, found it very clean & in great condition but Jimmy wasn't there so couldn't get it until the next day. I have bought cars from more than a dozen Chicago area dealerships. THese guys are small, but good. They sold me a 9 year old Toyota that needed a little work, so as part of the purchase negotiation, we agreed to have them put in new shocks and struts and absorb the cost of parts with no labor charge in the purchase. Unfortunately, one of the struts had a defect that showed up a few weeks later. They fixed it the day my mechanic noticed. Then, a few weeks later, a couple other things need attention on this "AS IS" purchase. Even though it wasn't under warranty or any other form of obligation, Jimmy and his team took care of me. They even gave me a loaner each time I was there, although one of the loaners didn't have A/C on a hot day. Still, they did everything they could to accommodate my schedule. They did a great job and ate the cost of the work. They care about doing the right thing. You see lots of repeat customers there including cops and business people who could probably afford high end dealerships. But, they obviously see the value in this kind of customer service. The selection is smaller, but, they seem to be picky about the cars they bring in, so you know they have checked them out thoroughly.
