Yellow curry with chicken (I add bamboo)

Been coming here since their open, well over 11 years, back when it was half the size and they had to upgrade their tables after a few months being open. This place is our #1 go to Thai place. Whenever we need a rice meal or have a craving for spice, it's New Thai Cafe to the rescue. Even during the pandemic they opened for take out which has since grown their business exponentially. They are clean, friendly, and have great decor. (Due to rising costs and tariffs, they've added a 4% credit card charge to offset today instead of raising prices too much)

Tom Kha soup, 10 Fried Wontons

Highly recommend. Came here because I was craving Tom Kha soup and I was not disappointed. Staff was so friendly. Service was quick. Food was excellent!! This will be a regular place to visit for Thai food.

I'm not sure why they call it "New Thai," it seems like this place has been here awhile. All kidding aside, I had a great lunch experience. At first I was a little hesitant when I noticed that my dining partner and I were the only folks there at lunchtime, but my hesitation swiftly left when I took my first bite of Pad See Ew. It was delicious-and there was so much of it that I was able to take half of it home to enjoy as leftovers later.

Everything I've eaten here is amazing! My top three dishes here. Yellow Curry with medium spice, Pho Combination and massaman curry. Dessert you must try the donuts they're great! Service was great there was one waitress in the whole restaurant. She was able balance 6 tables at once. Highly recommend!

    Mango Sticky Rice

Found this place back in May and I've already been 5 times since. it's officially my go to comfort meal spot! The flavors are incredible. The Panang curry is my favorite, but honestly, I haven't tried a single thing I didn't like. Plus the prices are super reasonable. I go for the lunch special. Highly recommend

We swung by here for a quick dinner the other night as the place had about 10 tables full with one waitress. God bless her as she was attentive to us while she was zipping around. We started off with the Spring Rolls with Shrimp that was good and fresh. Then I had my main course of Pad See Ew Beef with a medium spice. While it was good and the Beef was not dry (sometimes it is in this dish, sometimes it's not) I didn't care for the Egg Noodles which were a bit on the thinner side. I like a thicker noodle for this dish as I've had it 100's of times and this was the 1at time I had a thinner noodle. It's a strip mall on the smaller side and parking can be scarce. Next time I'd like to try their curry as it did look good.

I will start with the food since that is the important part. In short everything was amazing and delicious. The coconut soup was extremely good and the curry was really creamy. But if you put some rice and a little of both soups you have something out of this world. The ambiance was good, you can feel that this is a mom and pop kind of place and I love it. The service was done by Vien and she was really nice. This place definitely checked all the boxes and I will be going back again.

After a long day I really didn't want to cook dinner and I really wanted Pad Thai. This place was closest to my route home so I hit it up. It was so nice to be greeted by a friendly face when I walked in! The lady working the front desk had the best smile and was warm and made me feel so welcome. I couldn't find any way to order online and their phone number didn't work but it only took 8 minutes for me to get my food at 6:30 on a Wednesday night which isn't bad at all! The pad Thai was pretty good too. And I really should have made it two meals! Super filling! Lots of food for your money!

The inside is beautiful--dim lighting with glowing blue lights hanging overhead, tropical greenery, and a really cool, almost magical vibe. It honestly felt like stepping into another world. I ordered the yellow curry with chicken, and it was incredible--rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced. The chicken was tender and soaked up all that flavor. For dessert, I had the coconut ice cream with sticky rice, and it was the perfect sweet finish--simple, warm, and so satisfying. Between the atmosphere and the food, this place is such a hidden gem. I'll definitely be coming back! Truly a hidden gem!! I can't wait to come back!!

The noodles were flavorful, the sauce was perfectly balanced, and there were plenty of vegetables. The tofu was cooked really well, which is not always the case with delivery. Overall, a homerun. The mango sticky rice was the highlight. Slightly warm sticky rice with coconut and perfectly sweet ripe mango. Just delicious. Next time I'm in SLC I will definitely order from here again.

They have a really great lunch special and we both got that. I got the orange chicken, with cream cheese wontons, and the salad to start. Their orange chicken is great with a strong but balanced flavor. Their cream cheese wontons are my all time favorite. So light and crispy with the perfect mixture inside. I had never tried Thai dressing and really enjoyed it on the salad!! My husband got the red curry, with an egg roll, and the tom kha soup. I tried his soup and omg it was DELICIOUS!! Perfect tangy lime flavor. The egg roll was great, and he loved his red curry. The special also comes with white rice and, and it was cooked very well. We didn't realize that, and when we saw the hours, tried to tell the staff that we'd come back later, but she was so welcoming and encouraged us to stay. So we did. I usually order the same dish at Thai restaurants- Pad See Ew- but I opted to order off the lunch menu, assuming that it would be easier on the staff that way. I figure it's good for me to branch out and try different things now and then anyway. My order of Pad Gra Prow was just ok. It didn't have a lot of meat in it, and far more onions than anything else. The flavor was pretty good, but I wanted more chicken and found myself digging through the veggies looking for more. The service was fantastic, I never felt like a burden, even though I'm sure coming in late in the afternoon isn't ideal. The food came out quickly and was very reasonably priced. Next time I visit, I'm going to try the Pad See Ew though.

We ordered Laarb, Pumpkin Curry, Tom Ka, Satay, Chicken Wings, Pad Thai, and the papaya salad platter. My only note to the staff is to perhaps include a photo of the papaya salad platter. We thought it would just be a larger portion of the salad, but it had a smattering of different things. All great! Just not what we expected. Maybe that's standard for Thai fare and we just didn't know it? Service: the issues spoken of with being rushed were completely absent for this trip. We actually accidentally overstayed our welcome past closing! I didn't expect them to close at 8:15 on Saturday, but that is a-okay with me. They were so kind as to give me a free Mango Sticky Rice for my birthday! This will have to become a tradition.

The food... well, I would describe it as Thai food for white people. It tasted ok, but I've had more authentic Thai in airports. Everything here seems to be a strip mall, so... this place is in a strip mall. I really don't need to be a jerk about it. This place is in business to make money, and what I think is going on is they are preparing food for the folks that live around here. If they made Thai food like I'm used to in New York City, people here might hate it. I don't know. Not everyone likes fish sauce I guess. Anyhow, I can tell by the other reviews that people here love this place, and I think that's fantastic. They shouldn't change a thing just because some NYC asshole randomly showed up.

They had fresh veggies, lettuce, carrots, etc. and the peanut sauce is sweet. For me the peanut sauce could use a little umph. I would say maybe using sweet chili sauce or the sweet vinegar they use when they marinate the cucumber salad in. It also is missing the most important ingredient- basil. This would make those rolls taste even better. The Pho was good when you add all the trimmings. However, it lacks depth after you've had the first few sips. Pho flavor should last through to the last spoonful. This happens when the soup is rushed and not stewed. Pad Graw Praw has all the flavors, especially the basil. It has good balance and lasting flavors. In fact, I had this for lunch the next day! The mango and sticky rice was not as good as I remember it. It was still good, but the sauce needed to be sweeter for me. Definitely order this when you come here. I'll try them again but will order a curry dish and a Tom Tum soup.
