I'm updating my review to reflect my experience last night. Emily, our waitress, opened the door for us upon arrival and she was very sweet the whole night. My friend and I split the wedge, which was very large. The picture I posted is a half portion they had separated for us to share. The only thing I would recommend is, the Bleu cheese dressing was lacking flavor and adding Bleu cheese crumbles would add so much more flavor. I ordered the seafood risotto. It had salmon, Mahi Mahi, shrimp, mussels and spinach. It had really good flavors and was large enough for me to take some home for my daughters to try. One of my friends ordered the Primavera pasta. She chose that because she wanted something vegetable heavy and it sure did have a variety. It has spinach, artichoke, bell peppers onions and zucchini. She's not huge on spice, but said the spicy marinara wasn't overpowering. My other friend ordered the pork schnitzel. She thought it was very good and I was able to snag a bite to try and I also enjoyed it. I would consider ordering it myself next time. We were too full for dessert, but the options sounded really good and I might have to go try them next time. Also, still no liquor license, so we stuck to water and soda. I'm glad I gave them a second chance. This one was much better than the first. read more

Finally had the chance to check out New Town Cafe Service 10/10 Food 10/10 We started off with the Bbq Habanero wings. Delicious! If you can handle heat, give them a try! For dinner we ordered the Chicken Pesto Pasta & Caprese Sandwich. Both dishes were plentiful. The pasta had lots of chicken. The only small critique would be the fries. They are thin frozen type fries. Other than that the sandwich was tasty. We ended our meal with a crème brûlée. The interior is also a bit different. The floor and wall colors are a bit odd/ they don't really match the tables theme. And there is a part of the kitchen that could be seen from the dining room that is also unappealing. An easy fix would be a large curtain for this area. But those small details don't take away from the friendly service and great food. Definitely recommend and will be back to try other items on the menu. read more

We've heard a lot of wonderful things about New Town Cafe and decided to try it for ourselves. We went with another couple for dinner. Unfortunately the restaurant is not in the best location as it is on the corner of a busy intersection without an easy access. Upon approaching the entrance we were greeted by a very friendly employee who introduced himself and asked each of us our names. We were seated promptly and our server came to our table to take our drink orders. They don't have a liquor license yet, but that was not an issue for us. Just something to keep in mind if you were expecting to order a beer or wine with your meal. Our food was delicious! We each ordered something different and we all loved our selections. The service was quick and efficient which was just what we wanted. As far as the ambiance of the restaurant goes, it could use a little sprucing up. We had heard that the owners don't have the money yet to make the decor their own style. This restaurant space has housed several different restaurants and doesn't appear to have been updated since then. However, while it helps, decor is not everything. We personally would rather dine at a restaurant with amazing food and dated decor than at a restaurant with gorgeous decor but without delicious food. Wow!!! This new restaurant was amazing!! Definitely a great new gem in town. Customer service was on point and our waitress Jamie was very attentive to us. We came for brunch and since it is a new restaurant there was hardly any one. The restaurant was super clean and you can see the kitchen staff from where we we're sitting. The owner/chef was also super nice and came out to talk to us. We received our food very quick and everything was just amazing!! I will be recommending friends and family. Wife, son, and I decided to try this for the first time today. I knew going in that the entrees were more expensive than places we usually frequent, but I have heard great things about the restaurant so we visited. It was a GREAT experience. We were greeted at the door by our waitress, Emily. She gave us outstanding service the whole time, even opening the door for us when we left! We started with the calamari appetizer. For entrees, my son had the Spicy American Club Sandwich, my wife got the Blackened Salmon, and I tried the Jambalaya Risotto. The calamari appetizer was large, cooked perfectly, and had two great dipping sauces. Son said his Club was tasty, and it was so filling that he took some home. My wife and I both thought our entrees were extremely flavorful and we both left nothing on our plates! We didn't order any alcohol and our total bill amounted to around $35 per person (remember we had an appetizer too). The menu has a vast assortment of unique dishes (see my menu pictures). We will more than likely come back to try some different plates than we ordered tonight. We didn't have enough room for dessert, but we hear those too are off the hook. The music playing was a little loud, but featured some awesome songs. Overall, a place that I highly recommend based on our experience. read more

I really wanted to like this place. I had the risotto and it was really salty. A dish like risotto shouldn't have kraft like grated parm cheese on it, it should be freshly grated if the customer wants to add it. The service was a little slow by the guy waiting our table was super nice and welcoming. The inside can use a little help. I understand the restaurant business is hard but there are a few things that can be done to make it a better experience. I'd start by repainting the floors, maybe adding an accent wall with wallpaper instead of the fake greenery. On the tables, it would be better to have a small fake plant or flowers. The fresh flowers are a nice touch but it had the white stuff (from them being old) and it wasn't nice to see while I'm eating. It definitely has potential and I really hope other people give them a shot and they do really well and the owners consider making some updates to make it a nicer experience. read more

My first visit here since it was Los Gallos years ago. We were warmly greeted, seated, and given menus. Right before our server started to take our orders, he informed us that they were out of steaks, and were running seriously low on salmon. That was fine, but I wish we were told that when we received our menus, not right before we put in our orders. Needless to say, the staff there was extremely friendly and nice. Our server offered helpful suggestions on substitutions. I had the jambalaya sandwich. It was excellent. The fries however, were not. They were just above warm, not searing hot right out of the fryer. For an establishment that seems to present itself as slightly more upscale, I was expecting fresh fries. read more

I love to see new restaurants opening in Turlock and we decided to give this place a try. My experience was overall good. Pros: The customer service was on point. The "plant" theme was nice My chicken sandwich was actually really good Cons: I felt it was pricey My French fries arrived cold but I'm a fatty and a people pleaser so I ate them and didn't want to complain about them. My sister ordered Italian dressing on her salad and they put thousand island instead, my sister had to ask for a correction. They don't have a "real" sign and they graffitied "open" on their front door. Not the most professional but whatever works I guess. read more

The food here is so good, service was excellent. I ordered the salmon and my wife had shrimp enchiladas she really enjoyed. We took home leftovers as the portion was more than enough. For appetizers we had crab cakes, 3 each, nice size too. The food was hot from the kitchen, that was a plus for me! Came back a second time for lunch and ordered the Chicken Caprese Sandwich again!! I couldn't stop thinking about it! It was ust as delicious as last time!! My third visit was a group of 6 for dinner. The men had the chimichurri steak again and all reports were that it was amazing! Teen ordered sliders which she devoured. Note, they don't come with fries. Another ordered the chicken risotto (again). I switched it up and ordered the pork schnitzel that everyone raves about. Let me tell you, I was blown away!! The portion was very generous with 2 pieces of meat on top of a mound of mashed potatoes. Then there was a gravy/sauce that had non-mushy fresh mushrooms and bacon! It was so good! I saved half for the next days lunch and it was just as good! I was very happy with my choice! It was another birthday and we received a complimentary piece of Brown Butter Pecan Cake. Tried this place for the first time. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who opened the door as we walked in. The prices were higher than expected but the flavorful food made up for it. Our server was amazing and very sweet and prompt. The food arrived quickly. I ordered Chicken and french toast. Was hoping for nice flaky crispy chicken. It wasn't what I expected. Bland no flakey fried chicken more like Chinese chicken. No taste. It had a honey drizzle bit not much, the French toast was okay, no real flavor. They need for work on their chicken and waffles would be great but they didn't have them. It was rather plain meal. The chairs are super uncomfortable to sit in sorta metal with a thin peice of wood. The decoration, it's sorta frat boy meets mom's basement. They need to decide what experience they want the customers to have. As a mom and pop and not chain restaurant they need to figure out their niche and work it. I heard their lunch and dinner was good so I will give them another shot. I know they are new. So good. The vibe/aesthetic definitely does not match the quality of the food, I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was. The salmon is especially good but I loved all of the entrees I have tried. Dessert was great as well. Servers were friendly and accommodating to gluten allergy. I have a sensitive stomach and dietary restrictions, this is one of the few places I've been to that has not hurt my stomach. Best restaurant by far for the $ in the area and my new favorite place. We were very excited to try this place out. The food here is very hit and miss. The first time we came it was not it. I can't remember the name of the sandwich I got but it's the one with a cranberry Brie and I believe turkey. The meat was a piece of cold deli. We believe in giving places a second try, come once more with friends and tried almost everyone's dish, we came during the day, we had a larger group of 7-9 but they also didn't have anyone else in there. Half of our food was ok and the other half was very lacking. The hash brown is a freezer bought hash brown which you can taste the freezer burn, McDonald has better hash brown. Also two of my friends order pancakes with chicken and the pancakes were sour, so odd which unfortunately we had to send it back. I got the French toast, it was stale.
