I'm not sure what to say about this place. I'm always torn about it. Where do I begin? I love the location of it. It's a great NW coffee shop and is nestled just behind WalMart. As for the actual location though, I've never really been that sold on it. The service has never been outstanding and honestly, for a coffee shop, it's super-quiet. You don't really have that sense of community or coming together that I get when I walk into BREW or Cafe Los Muertos. Saying that, though, their pour over collection is the best. This is an nice, local coffee shop that meets or exceeds expectations. I wasn't overly impressed with the vibe when I first arrived, things seemed in disarray and frantic. However, I think that was caused the rush that I had apparently joined in with. After things settled down it became a much more peaceful place. The person I am assuming is the owner, or at least the manager, seems very knowledgeable and personable. This was my first time but I noticed a few people speaking to him on a first name basis, and he knew their name as well. I tried the cold brew coffee black. It was smooth and had a decent flavor. I also got a breakfast sandwich, a bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese. The sandwich was quite good. It had the right proportion of toppings to bagel such that I was able to eat it without it exploding, which is what usually happens with those kinds of sandwiches (at least to me). Everyone is right, the European latte is amazing!!!! No sugar needed. Kinda pricey at $5 per cup, but worth it just for the foam art. Lunch items all sounded very good as well. I had the BLT with avocado and chipotle mayo and it was perfect. My husband got the Tuscan sandwich that had prosciutto, mozzarella and tomato on it. Super fresh and delicious! New World is not one of the nicer decorated coffee shops in Raleigh.. However, don't let that steer you away from the great drinks, desserts, and food. I'm a beginner to drinking coffee and often have a hard time choosing my bean/roast or whatever, but the owner is always really knowledgable and is more than willing to help... Which makes me want to try more kinds of coffee! For the desserts try the almond butter cookies! Absolutely delicious! They have a crumbly, soft texture that's not too sweet -- goes perfect with a black coffee. And if you're not into coffee.. Don't worry! I was in town over the holidays from the west coast visiting family in Cary. With the demise of the Pheasant Creek Coffee so many years ago, good traditional espresso drinks are hard to find in Cary/Aptos. New World was worth the drive! Counter Culture beans made for excellent fresh roast beans, and the baristas here pulled decent shots and good microfoam. read more

It's a good place to go if you work/live nearby but the quality of the products are not great. The coffee is good, the place inside is just ok, not too comfy and not too rigid, I would say an identity crisis where they should call Queer Eye and get a makeover to give the place personality. I have forced myself to only go here a couple of times. I am afraid that I could become addicted and spend all my time and money here. These guys know their coffee. They love it. They even do foam art. I am not a coffee drinker, but had one of their mago smoothies and thought it was great. Not bad for a place that treats coffee like a religon. The food was good and you can tell they are trying very hard to seperate themselves from the rest of the coffee bar/starbucks industry by doing everything just a little bit better than everyone else. I had the BLT with avacado and chipotle mayo. It was a nice change of pace. Because they only give out the WiFi password to paying customers there aren't that many laptop hobos around. Instead you have several paying customers using the Wifi and hanging out enjoying themselves.. There are copious amounts of outlets for customers to use and plenty of seating including an al fresco section. The best espresso I've ever had. My wife and I have decided to try out the various espresso joints in Cary and Raleigh and to pick the top 3. I realize we may go on an off day and the espresso may not be as good but I figure if it's good that first time it'll be worth going again. This place had an excellent espresso, very smooth, not bitter and very strong. The milk was sweet and perfect. Service was excellent and friendly. Definitely will return. It's a bit far from my house so it would be nice to find a place closer but I would definitely make this a monthly trip at the least. read more

I have been coming to New World Coffee House for about 10 years now, and it's probably my favorite coffee house in the, well, world. As others have stated, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's a wonderful little place with all the perks I look for in a local coffee shop: (1) Friendly baristas who aren't too cool to look you in the eye and give you a smile (ahem, Third Place) (2) Comfy seats and cool decor, with changing artwork from local artists (3) Free wi-fi (4) Long hours Oh, and the coffee's good, too! I really wanted to love this place as I'm a huge advocate of independent coffee shops and it's close to my house. Unfortunately, the coffee is not very good (their espresso is particularly sour with an undeveloped flavor), the sandwiches are underwhelming, and everything is overpriced. Are they using such specialty, high-quality ingredients that their overheads are super high? Probably not, because that info would likely be advertised, where they tend to be a little shy when you ask them where some of their products come from. I would have no problem paying their prices if I felt like I was getting a quality product, but it's not and I don't, so this place gets a definite "meh". read more

Really good, healthy food. I got the black bean burger wrap...tasty! I did think the chickpea mango "salad" was lacking...basically open a can of chick peas and add 4 tiny mango slices. I moved here last May and hadn't had a lot of experience with many local coffee shops before moving to Raleigh (there just weren't very many where I used to live). This place is very different from those chain stores. The Good: The atmosphere is very relaxed. Mike (the owner) is very friendly, and can probably tell you more about coffee than your average barista. If you ask for a manual pour over (you should try it at least once), prepare to be amazed. He's got it down to a science and can make a cup of coffee that is so full of flavor that it really doesn't need cream or sugar at all. I've never met someone so passionate about coffee. Mike has even gone so far as to recommend I try out some other coffee places. I did. The coffee wasn't as good. It sounds weird, but trying other places was actually the best endorsement for HIS place. I'm not a coffee snob, but I honestly don't think I can find a better cup of coffee anywhere else in Raleigh. The Bad: Quality costs money, so if you're not willing to pay for quality then this place is probably not for you. He uses Counter Culture beans which I'm told are good but they're expensive. His prices are inline with some of the more upscale chain stores. While I don't necessarily see this as a bad thing for me, I realize other people don't want to pay more for better coffee. read more

This is a neat and cool coffee shop off of Pleasant Valley Rd. The shop is deceivingly big with ample seating and was very clean. I quickly stopped in to try their premium "Breaking Bad" cold brew, and wow it packed a punch. It definitely woke me up quickly. The cold brew was strong, full of great flavor.
