Newks is delicious and convenient. You can get delivery or curbside pickup. I usually get the Newks Q sandwich and soup or a pizza. The tomato basil soup is amazing. I have also used them for catering. They have many individual box options of sandwiches and salads for catering (and delivery was free). Food was great. Highly recommend. read more

Staying at the hotel next door, so typically pizza orders are wrong and no one cares because its take-out. Not here!!! Ordered 6 pizzas , two were wrong, our mistake! Brought my office staff here today. Our first time for all five of us. We all loved it! Very reasonable price. Seemed to be a long line, but we moved up very quickly. Our food came out quick too. Tried this place for the first time this afternoon, and our reactions are mixed. First: cleanliness issues. Clearly this place is popular for the after church crowd, as the place was very full at 1:30 pm. But many, many tables needed clearing, and it seemed the staff was apathetic at best about the unattractive tableau that greeted most diners--food on the floor, napkins, tables piled high with dirty dishes. The walls in our booth were also stained and dirty, keeping us well away from them. Service: When my husband's pizza arrived, it was a far cry from what the menu promised: (He ordered the Q pizza.) Though it contained the chicken and bacon, there was nary a tomato nor jalapeno to be seen, ditto for the promised barbeque sauce. He took it (and the receipt)to the counter and the staff gave him blank looks before grudgingly going to fetch some tomato; the other ingredients, they said, were 'out". Okay, you should tell the cashier who took the order that they might want to warn patrons who are expecting the ingredients on the menu, nez pas? He also had to go fetch cutlery, as they evidently determined that people who eat pizza need neither utensils nor napkins. I ordered the shrimp and avocado salad, which at first blush was a fine dish: the promised dozen grilled shrimp, on a bed of arugula with a lemony vinaigrette--however, the portion was HUGE. I am going to wager that they put a full pound of arugula in the salad, and after a few moments it became such a one note experience that it was impossible to finish--yes, there were tomatoes and onions, but the avocado was a few bits at most--not what one expects from a salad with avocado in the title. Value: Clearly they go for maximum portions here--so if you can scarf down a pound of greens, your money is well spent. I observed the other tables with their equally huge salads and sammie plates and if you're a big eater, this is the place for you; however, given the cleanliness and service issues, when I want to spend $22 on a casual lunch, I'll go elsewhere. read more

They are on time, organized and go above and beyond for catering. I was impressed. Unlike similar restaurants, they set up everything and make sure you have more than enough. I ordered six sandwich trays with assorted sandwiches. They brought six condiments for the sandwiches. We had the Newk salad and Greek salad. It was excellent! Easy eat in or togo with kiddos. Also can order through Amazon prime so that's a plus for delivery. I like the newks salad. Easily two meals for me and the kids pizza is a little too big for my two year old so I get a slice. read more

First time here, really enjoyed the young lady taking the time to explain the menu and make recommendations. I ordered the pick two with a turkry sandwich and macaroni and cheese. The bread was very soft and was very well prepared, very fresh. The macaroni was piping-hot very cheesy and extremely tasty. The inside of the restaurant is very clean, very organized. For lunch, it doesn't get any better than Newk's. From the friendly busser to the wide array of healthy and hearty menu options, I will take the ridiculous parking and almost too crowded to find a seat, place. I usually spend a little under $10 but it's always worth it. Only problem with Newk's is that there aren't more of them in Austin! read more

I stood in line for a couple of minutes, put in my order and my food was delivered to our table rather quickly. Eating outdoors on a beautiful spring afternoon. Gorgeous weather. Good food. Listening to the sounds of....birds? No. Pleasant music? Ummm. No Again. The sound of my companion's voice? No no no. All I got to listen to was an employee who unfortunately had the same break time as our ill fated meal. On his cell phone. Quite a distance from our table. Ranting. Cursing his plight in a most loud and profane manner. On and on and on it went...punctuated by wait....what? The musical sounds of snorting and harking and spitting and even got to see some basic bare hand nose wiping. Dressed like he might have been a cook. This went on for the entire time we sat there. Went here with the kiddos last Thursday and we really loved it. I have been dying to go for a while but I'm never down that way. We shared the spicy shrimp pizza (big enough for all 3 of us), a cup of soup, and a kiddo mac and cheese. For the price and the quality, we felt it was a great deal. Loved it and will definitely be back. My favorite parts about this cute place were the condiment island and the fact they had a sink outside of the restrooms so you could wash your hands without having to go into the restroom. Yum salads from a chain. I have to say though... the older gentleman at the cash register is a jerk. Today is "College Football Day" at work and a few of my colleagues went in dressed as football players and he told them "you look like idiots". Awesome. He also once got pissed at me for modifying an order and aggressively hit on another colleague. Another day he randomly brought up prison. These were all separate events! Multiple offenses, rude man! He may be part of Newks worker release program, but I highly recommend they move him out of a customer-facing role. When my husband and I first went to Newk's we were hoping we would find another restaurant that we could eat for two for $20. Our first time there I had a salad and the margherita pizza and a glass of wine. Everything was super fresh and came out super fast. We were hooked on Newk's. We went back three days in a row. My favorite sandwich is the pesto chicken and love the half sandwich and salad combo. The people who work at Newk's are super friendly as well! I hope Newk's does well in the Arboretum. read more

I'd like to give it 5 stars. The food was 5 stars. The cleanliness was maybe 2. Went there for dinner. I had the Italian sub. I was really fantastic. Our group also had a couple chicken sandwiches that I understand were really good and a spicy chicken pizza. Evidently the pizza wasn't as good & it was a little over cooked. Again, the Italian is great. Just get it if that fits your taste. The floor was really dirty. We went to sit down and the noticed how dirty the floor was. I thought let's just sit somewhere else. Every booth we looked at was dirty. I'm far from a clean freak. But, it really needed a good sweeping. Not sure I've ever been in a restaurant with that dirty a floor. The rest was not that dirty. Just the floor. Maybe it was just a bad day (Sunday evening). There were not that busy. Plenty of people could have picked up a broom. read more

Very good express cafe. Some of the sandwiches are hit or miss. I wasn't super amazed with the grilled chicken sandwich but with their topping bar, was able to make it delicious. Their steak sandwich and shrimp po-boy are DELICIOUS and extremely filling. They've got some good quality sides as well: the pasta salad and side caesars are very delicious. I believe their caesar dressing is home made and its very tasty. (All sandwiches come with a choice of sides which is nice that fries or chips aren't forced upon you) At lunch it can get a little crazy with seating, but I've never had trouble finding a table after one or two loops around the restaurant. They've pretty quick about getting you your food. All the staff is extremely polite and helpful. read more

Here is a downright good place to eat! The menu has some good choices of soups, salads, sandwiches, and pizzas, all served with little delay. The staff are pleasant and responsive. Almost everything I've tried has been delicious. However, the pizzas have sparse ingredients; if you like cheese on your pizza, you'll have to ask for extra cheese. The prices are fair, especially given alternatives in the area. The wines I've tried are mediocre. I'm always happy to take family groups there because I know we'll have a positive experience. Lunch is their most active meal and lines can form rapidly, so arrive early. read more

Newk's appears to be a worthy contender in the fast casual sweepstakes. They are doing a nice job of plenty sophistication with prompt service. It's refreshing to eat in an atmosphere where both appearance of the restaurant and taste of the food count for something. $13.69, though a steep price for lunch does net you some delicious taste experiences. The 1/2 sandwich/soup combo goes a long way. I selected the lobster bisque which was smooth, creamy and with just enough punch to make my taste buds nostalgic for the northeast region of the country where I might be offered a dish like this without dripping into my shorts because of the Texas humidity. On the sandwich front Newk's chicken salad sandwich was a treat. The toasted roll served up the crunch that only truly fresh bread can provide. Toss grapes, pecans, Hellman's mayo, and provolone cheese into the mix and you've got yourself a lunchtime repast not lacking for pleasing flavors to address the wants of each zone of your taste buds. Coke fountain drinks come in 32 oz. plastic containers. Herein lies my only real quibble. This is problem similar to the one I had when eating at McAlister's Deli which like Newk's, caters to the fast-casual market. Sometimes that much food/drink is overkill. Thankfully, as my own family would readily agree, I could stand to pack on a few pounds but still, I feel like I'm being exploited by food porn. This is not to say that the Sprite I drank was any less refreshing than the many others I've had before. My only point is an enjoyable dining experience isn't one where you're literally invited to bite off more than you can chew. A rotating selection of cakes is offered for dessert. I tried a slice of their caramel cake. Nice and moist. The caramel frosting on top had the stiff consistency of Smucker's ice cream topping. Big whoop to that however. It was irresistibly soft on the palate. The atmosphere is lined with decorative artwork and table settings that suggest the tonier merchandise at Skandinavia Contemporary Interiors. No shortage of tumult both at the lunch line and in the prep area. Plenty of room to stretch out. I agree with others who praise the "Roundtable" full of add-on options like pickles, bread sticks, and salad dressings. Anyone can provide those items as part of a meal but to provide them with eye-catching zing is a gift Newk's doesn't hesitate to show off to impressive effect. If fast and casual must be joined together in unholy mealtime matrimony Newk's is a nice way to kick off the honeymoon. read more
