I'm so glad to be close to this restaurant because I've always wanted my hubby to try it. Wr wanted dinner but didn't want to hang out in a restaurant and we wanted curb side service. Placing my order online was so super easy and picking your pick up time is great but what really stoked me was receiving an email that allowed me to click a link to let the restaurant know I was on my way. When I arrived I pulled into curbside parking and waiting for about 10 mins-out come all the deliciousness we ordered online. The chicken salad sandwich is to die for and the mac & cheese isn't to bad either. Oh and let's not forget the strawberry cake yummy . This is one of the strangest places I've ever been. I was overnighting in Jacksonville for 1 day before a cruise and my hotel was close to Newk's. I decided to check it out since I'd never heard of it before. The super friendly girl behind the register came out to help us with the menu when I told her we'd never been in before. I LOVE customer service like this! She even ran back to grab samples of a few of the soups on the menu for us to try. This place has an identity crisis. They have salads, sandwiches and soups so you think "oh, it's like a Panera Bread." But it's not. They also have pizzas. So weird. You don't expect a pizza place to have soup / sammies / salads or vice versa. This is a quick service eatery so you order from the extensive menu, pay, then sit down with your number. They'll deliver your order to your comfy booth when it's ready. I decided on a cobb salad (I had to leave out a few ingredients, this wasn't your traditional cobb and had some weird stuff in it) and I passed on the soup (every one was way too salty for my tastes). As a low carb eater, I squealed when I saw their freshly brewed iced tea choices - Unsweetened, Sweetened and SWEETENED WITH SPLENDA! Yes, ice tea brewed with Splenda! This alone sold me on Newk's. I've never seen that anywhere before and I loved it! I probably downed a couple of gallons of the stuff. There's a little round bar in the middle of the restaurant where the friendly cashier said we could help ourselves to whatever was on it. There were prepackaged crunchy breadstick crackers, some sprinkle cheese and a few other things that I can't remember. When our food came, I was very pleased with the portion size and the quality of the ingredients. Think Panera but larger portions. I was just a tourist passing through but I'll definitely return to Newk's if I'm ever back in the Jacksonville area. read more

When I first found out NEWKS would open up at the shopping center down the street from my house, I was TOO excited because I am in love with their pizza!!!! I enjoy their soups, salads, and sandwiches too but this review is the "Pizza Edition"! Their pizzas are SOOOOOOO FREAKIN GOOD! LOL! The flavor of this pizza is insane! I order it way too much! So much my pants are starting to fit a bit tighter. (Like... no lie) The Newks Q Pizza isn't on the menu anymore but they'll make it if you ask for it....it is amazing! Sausage and Pepperoni Pizza I mean, how can you go wrong with a classic! Once again, the flavor is insane. We've got cheese, sausage, pepperoni, and the best part, fresh basil and tomatoes! Another winner! BBQ Chicken Pizza Another winner in my book! I'm so excited to have finally tried this place! I'm trying to stay low carb and they have cauliflower dough pizza! House amazing is that! And it tastes delicious! Their vegetable soup is delicious too. I love their condiment bar. I used it to add fresh parmesan cheese, oregano, crushed red pepper and cholula to my soup. We both ordered the roast beef and Mac and cheese I up mine to the bigger potion ( do not remember what it was called) and we both had half a sandwich Mac in cheese in a cardboard container and two large drinks for $32.00 dollars. The sandwich was soft inside and the Mac in cheese was awful. I'm not a picky eater but it made me physically sick. Newk's Eatery is a small, cute place to go if you want a fresh salad or something light to eat. You walk in and order at the counter and the salad topping bar is located a little further down. Towards the back by the kitchen they have a display with foods you can just buy right away like ahi tuna, shrimp, and cuts of steak. I had never been here before and wasn't sure what to expect but was very disappointed when I ordered their "5 cheese pizza" with added bacon, mushrooms, sausage, and peppers. Not only did the pizza take too long, but it was so SMALL. Originally I sat there thinking "Ok understandable there's like 5 cheeses on there and we had extra toppings" but when it came out it was TINY. I went back to look on the menu and there was no indication of size and I don't recall the girl taking our order asking for it. So, the pizza is good here but it's a personal size and definitely not something to share. It is also thin crust. Another reason Newk's gets 3 stars from me is because the service was not great. The girl taking our order rang up the ahi tuna and was like "Ew gross" - this is the last thing I want to hear when I'm buying food at an establishment from the employee! She had no idea where it was listed on the register. She proceeded to take our order and couldn't even name two possible toppings for a pizza when we asked what the selections were. She seemed very unconcerned about taking our order and talked the whole way through about irrelevant things. I'm not sure if she was new or just wasn't having a good day or straight up just didn't care. Either way, I was kinda turned off. This was my first time at Newks. I was very impressed. It reminds me of a Panera Bread where you order sandwiches/salads/soups at the register and then it is brought to your table. They have lots more choices though! I was eyeing some tables with pizza that looked great. This location is minutes from the airport and was a perfect choice before boarding. I had the combo including simply salad with a white bean/kale soup. The soup was humongous and tasty. First time trying Newk's after landing from my flight and i was quite pleased with my meal. My husband ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and the ingredients were very high quality. The bread was amazing. I ordered their salad and it really put my $15 salad that i ordered the other night into perspective. Fresh ingredients and much greater proportion of food to dollar spent. They had a soft opening, to which they invited local pastors and their spouses, for a dinner on them. It was excellent! They had things for us to sample, the food was yummy, served quickly, and hot! I think this was a great business move on their part, plus it was so nice to have a free evening out. We went back a week later, and the service was slow, and they got some things wrong. They tried remedying it quickly, and brought free desserts. They were still very nice, the food was still good. I think they're just working out a few kinks, with only being up and running for a couple weeks. All in all, I would absolutely come here again, and I would recommend it to anyone. Newks is a solid deli style chain if you are in the Northside/Airport area. They had a wide variety of soup/salad/sandwiches to choose from on their menu. The restaurant itself is very modern, bright inside and super clean. Drinks are served in enormous to go cups, a plus since we were heading out on a road trip after lunch. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. The food was just average. I ordered soup and salad and chose a half Caesar and cup of Chili. The chili was very thin with just a few beans and chunks of meat and a few shreds of cheese on top. The Caesar salad was drenched in dressing, if you order one ask them to go light on the dressing. Hubs liked his turkey sandwich but it was nothing to write home about. Kiddo 1 really did not enjoy her grilled cheese, it was served on a sub roll, which she stated, "everyone knows that grilled cheese should come on sliced bread." She said it. The wait staff is always kind and helpful. I would say that the menu is a little large to view quickly while you are waiting in line. On my last visit I downloaded the app. The app will allow you to order ahead of time for take out only... I wish I could order on the app for dine in, this would be helpful. Wow. This place is fantastic and healthy. A refreshing restaurant among an ocean of fast food and unhealthy options. The best thing, in my opinion, is how full of flavor the food is.
