Buying this split unit was one of the worst financial decisions I have ever made. I have had it for 3 years and it has been broken/ not working 90% of the time. Last summer it was the motherboard had to be replaced on a unit I had barely used. The two technicians who came by looked as if they had just graduated from high school. They did a few tests and told me what they thought could be the problem. We will assign it to someone else and they will call you! That was 6 days ago and I haven't received any calls. I called Nexgen yesterday and they had no record of my visit. Save yourself the headache and frustration don't buy anything from them!! This is in regards to the whole home water filtration services offered by Costco and contracted through NexGen. I was connected with one of their sales representatives after reviewing the flyer. They install both salt based and salt free systems from EcoWater. My home can only support a salt free system due to the current plumbing- prior to this meeting I had performed my own research and have received multiple quotes. The sales man showed me a power point presentation and then took a water sample. Based on our discussion I was offered a Salt Free system. I was told ,and based on his presentation, that this system descales and also has a carbon filter all in one. This was listed specifically in their powerpoint presentation that was shown to me and my family member. As part of the installation several promotions were included such as 15 year supply of soap products and a discount with future NexGen services. Additionally they were going to replace our pressure regulator and also the control valve as part of the installation- although this involved a back and forth telephone conversation with his manager who was not going to originally cover this. One other issue before signing was that the salesman had no clue about the required maintenance of these units, as all other companies require maintenance every 1-2 years. Before signing he took pictures of the space and sent it to his management who said installation was possible. We signed the contract and I connected with Costco management to also put a deposit down so I could get my cash back promotion through them. For some reason I was enticed with the 15 years of soap products and the cash back, my mistake. However, this is when the trouble started. That evening I review the contract and I review information of the unit that is being installed. Given my background I go to the EcoWater website and review the product information. I see that the unit being installed only descales the pipes but offers no other filtration features- no carbon filtration is possible with that unit, which was listed as being a feature of that product in their advertising. I call the next day and explain the error to the salesman. He reviews the paperwork with his manager and they realize their error. They offer to then throw in a unit that actually does the carbon filtration. So now I am getting two of these towers. Now comes the next issue. The day of installation the contracted plumber reviews the site and says that the unit cannot be installed due to a potential code violation, although this had been cleared by his management to install. Additionally, they only bring one unit instead of the promised two units. They then offer the more top of the line unit- something that would exceed 12K that I am now getting at a discount. The installation has been at standstill as we were told that they would reach out to the inspection office of my city to see if the installation was up to code and could proceed. I am now no longer interested in having this system installed by this company because their sales force are extremely aggressive and seem to not know what they are doing. For those of you who had an EcoWater saltless system installed by NexGen through Costco I would review what product was actually installed as you were probably sold the wrong product. I am going to table this home installation for a while as I generally do not trust any of these whole home water filtration companies. Sorry to leave this long negative review but this needs to be public knowledge of the business practices of this company. It may not be reflective of all the work that they do and offer but this needs to be public knowledge. Thank you. read more

Today, one of Nexgen plumbers came to my house to repair a pinhole on a 3/4 inch copper pipe. It requires removal of the T section, rebuilding and soldering or using a compression tool as the work area was easily accessible and exposed already. I was shocked when the plumber told me it was going to cost about $950. I have performed construction, electrical and plumbing work in my past, and I am very familiar with how much work is involved, but because of my injury I had to get a plumber. The price quoted by NexGen is outrageous, excessive, and beyond belief. I am canceling my service membership and I will never use Nexgen for any work. I contacted two additional plumbing companies and their prices ranged from $300-$350 for the exact same work. NexGen is such a ripoff. read more

NexGen came to inspect low water flow into laundry washer. Appointment set for 2pm, two guys came at 3pm. Worked on hoses to washer. I had to leave for appointment and when I came back, they had left, but I saw one left a shoe cover by the front door. I cleaned up the many drops of water and grime left in front of the dryer-washer units. I had given them old towels as they requested before I left. Told them to throw it away, they left towels in the front and back of the washer-dryer units. At about 11:00PM, my wife discovered a large water puddle under the washer and soaking everything to the right of washer. We saw the leak was from water dripping from one of the water hose connected to washer, obviously improperly re-connected. Absolutely a mess! Dried up the area best we could and placed a bucket under the leaking hose as water continued to drip from hose. Second time I had to clean up NexGen's created mess. read more

They left a 4' x 1' foot hole in my exterior kitchen wall and have yet to come and repair it. Supposedly I have to wait for some kind of inspection but it's been a month and no one will get back to me. I should start at the beginning through because this is just one in a list of issues as to why I do not recommend this company. I noticed a gas leak in my house one morning and called them to come look at it. They claimed that all my gas pipes needed to be re-piped because they were old after going under my house to inspect them. They also claimed that I had a couple of sewage leaks in my water pipes and roots in the main line that went out from the kitchen. So they ended up repiping most of my kitchen and bathroom lines, even ones that I know didn't need them. How do I know that they did this? Because they replaced pipes that had already been replaced several years ago. I didn't know that this is what they were doing because I wasn't following them under the house or looking over their shoulders every minute they were here, I trusted that they were going to do what they needed to do. But, I had qualified for their financing and the price they quoted me was very high and they made it seem like these were urgently needed so I bit the bullet and signed on the dotted line. The project manager, Kevin, was very friendly and personable and as I was signing the paperwork for the special financing, he specifically told me that I did not need to set up autopay if I didn't want to after quoting me a certain price. The work hadn't even been completed yet when i start getting numerous emails from the finance company to set up autopay or my price and interest rate would go up from what was originally quoted to me. Two of the workers nearly came to blows during an argument outside by the entrance to the crawlspace. One was accusing the other of not pulling their weight and doing their fair share of the work and the other said: "you wanna go take a walk?" It was very unprofessional. Once the work had been done, large interior sections in my house now had the dry wall removed to the exposed piping and I asked if they were going to patch them and they said that they didn't do patching which would have been nice to know from the get-go. But the gaping hole in my south wall which opens into my the cabinet below my kitchen sink is by far the biggest issue because I was told my Kevin, after calling and complaining, that they shouldn't have done that in the first place and that he would get it fixed for me. But, as I said, it's been a month now and nothing has been done due to some inspection that I've yet to receive any update on. I should have at least been informed that they this is what they were planning to do before they did it so that I could have made the decision whether or not to have a massive hole put in the side of my house. They did a lot of things they didn't need to do without telling me and that's just not how a good contractor operates. Also, since it's been very cold in my house thanks to that massive hole, I decided to try and run my gas fireplace only to find that the gas valve is now incredibly loose in the floor and I do not think it's connected to anything anymore but am too nervous to try and turn it on. It just rocks and spins in the floor. That line was replaced 4 years ago and it seems like they just took it out and never replaced it. They shouldn't have even needed to touch that. They also said that they would service my electric water heater but it doesn't seem like they did that at all. This company will say whatever they need to and overcharge you just to get your money. It's like taking your car to an auto garage for an oil change and having the mechanics tell you that your brake pads are shot and you need a new transmission, it's the same basic thing. They price gouge you for unnecessary work and rely on your ignorance to get away with doing it and making a greater profit. My advice is to find a smaller company that won't gouge you, prevaricate or take advantage of you. NexGen definitely follows the what is called the "churn & burn" business model which basically means that they will get away with what they can and, sure, they'll lose some customers that way but there's always plenty more where they came from so who cares, right? read more
