Ziltch atmosphere since a remodel... Decades ago it was like a pizzeria with hanging Chianti bottles, grapevines, stained glass, cozy lighting... And now it's been decorated like a ugly WiscDell's hotel-restaurant-breakfast-room with badly framed poster art, tray ceilings with indirect fluorescent lights and a REALLY small --and awful-- mural of a fake "Tuscan Italian" landscape (it's not even good trompe l'oeil)... Now onto the food... It makes most overweight local and tourist families VERY HAPPY, because they will settle (and actually want), high fat/carb portions of cheap white flour dough, pre-made-dry-boxed-pasta-noodles, tomato sauce laced with corn syrup from tin cans, inexpensive pork sausage /chicken filets / frozen cod... and of course, salt, deep fryer grease, sugary cola/pops, watery rice'n'corn grit domestic tap beers, etc. When ordering a pie (traditional thin crust pizza with a weird beer-batter aftertaste), the toppings are drowning in a layer of cheese that is like a glacier. This is so salty/fatty and over-served on the crust that if it goes home as leftovers then those remaining slices (cut into squares which is called "pub" or "tavern" style), that you could literally pave your driveway with 1/4 inch thick cheese brick that awaits you the next morning in your fridge. The point is that "subtlety" and "craft" are sacrificed for "gluttony" and "gobs-of-gooey-cheese". You see folks, a Great pie should NEVER eliminate all other toppings textures and flavors for the sake of sheer curb-weight of the delivery boy's pizza box. They used to deliver regularly, but COVID has limited it to weekends primarily now. As for the rest of the menu, it ain't Italian but Midwestern, so expect a gout and coronary platter in every dish. Instead try Sweet Aroma Ristorante in Delavan or Mama Cimino's Pizza in Lake Geveva which both have better atmosphere and food that's made with love and craftsmanship! Avoid unless you like overpaying for very AVERAGE faire. read more

First timers and we were impressed with the cozy, Christmas-y ambiance. We were seated right next to the Christmas tree. It looks like most people come here for the pizza. We weren't hungry for pizza so we all got individual meals. The kids got burgers and fries, which were large portions. The salmon was good, but very small. I was still hungry when I was done and I typically get full very easily! The lasagna that was on special that day was like lasagna soup. My husband couldn't find the noodles. He ended up sending it back and getting a burger. The place was hopping and busy before Thanksgiving so our waitress brought us our food and we didn't hear from her again until we flagged her down to replace the lasagna and then get the check. I had to flag down the bus boy for water, coffee, and kids drink refills. A bit disappointed overall. read more

Honestly I wanted so badly to like this place. It smells so good when you first walk in. However, my husband and I gave it two shots and we just can't got back again. The first time we went for pizza because we heard the pizza was "so amazing." I'm from Milwaukee originally so maybe I just have high expectations for restaurants in general but come on people--all of these Chicago suburbians giving the pizza 5 stars, are you serious??? There are probably 15 pizza places at least in Chicago area that are better. Are you sure you just didn't drink too much during the hour wait for a table that it just tasted amazing at the time? The toppings and variety are good, I will give them that, but the crust is cardboard!!! Totally tasteless. Great pizza for someone on a low carb diet--pull all the toppings off and just eat the toppings and cheese because it's the only good part of the pizza. The best pizza in Walworth County that I've had so far has been from Barley's Hops and Malt in Troy Center (sit down or pick up) and Genoa in East Troy (also in Delavan)--delivery only though. Please try one of those places--I promise it's WAY better. The second time we went, I ordered a bloody mary- AWFUL. OMG. It was basically tomato juice with lemon and lime squirted into it. I had to ask the bartender for the celery salt, black pepper and Tabasco and basically make it myself- how embarrassing for him. My husband said his drink was fine- but how hard is it to mix rum with coke. For dinner, I ordered the Southwest Chicken Sandwich and my husband ordered the Heater Burger. We waited 40 minutes for our food and the best the server could do was apologize over and over again. Once we finally got our food, we were immediately disappointed. Both were served on COLD buns. Really?? The burger itself was decent, but the cold bun made it suck. The chicken sandwich was bland and I could have made it myself at home--nothing special at all about it. Onion rings and fries were clearly frozen from a bag thrown into the fryer. Disappointing meal after waiting an hour for a table and then 40 minutes for our food. That is what I don't understand. Why are there so many people who go to this place?? Of course, none of the restaurants in Lake Geneva are that good with the exception of Medusa and Oakfire. GET OUT OF LAKE GENEVA AND GO TO A PLACE WITH GOOD FOOD PEOPLE!! I promise it's out there and not that far away!! Where to start, decided to stop here to catch the game on a Sunday. Per YELP, business was opening in 15 minutes. So I arrived early, stood outside with some others, the door to the bar was locked. Guess what, the other door was open all ready and others were going in. After the door was unlocked and we were allowed in, all the seats at the bar where already taken. Walked in the door with a party of 6 and another party of 4. The waitress immediately complained out loud to the hostess that she just had a large group and didn't want us. Talk about feeling unwelcome. The whole time the waitress gave us such attitude. They literally removed appetizers while we were in the middle of eating them. A trainee brought us a drink that was requested and then our waitress came and removed because it was the wrong size. I said it's ok I'll pay for it, she ignored me and still removed it. We were in the Lake Geneva area and ordered food from this place. The food was good, however, the alfredo sauce in the pasta alfredo that all the kids ate was bad. They all got food poisoning from it. I called the place to alert them to what had happened. Talked to Joni but they didn't seem to care much. I'll definitely be filing a report with the local health department, although incidents like this rarely get addressed unless they receive multiple complaints. Stopped in with some friends based on a lot of hype on this place. We had chicken wing appetizers, and we all tried different dinners: pastas, a burger, and some pizza. The only thing worth mentioning was the pizza. Service was HORRIBLE. I've never, EVER been literally forced out of a restaurant. We were buying drinks, desert, etc... each time they brought something they brought a bill! They kept taking plates and offering to-go boxes while we were still freaking eating! Seriously? Decent food, so-so service. Our experience here didn't start of too well, but was salvaged by the meal. First, I arrived with my family (a group of 8). The hostess told us it would be a 15 minute wait- this ended up being an hour-and-a-half. Not only was there timing off, the hostess was incredibly rude when we asked how much longer it would be. When we were finally sat our waitress was very friendly and apologetic and got our drinks and appetizer order right away. Unfortunately, when the appetizer sampler arrived it was completely frozen! This platter was just your run-of-the-mill frozen mushrooms, chicken tenders and onion rings- I guess they forgot to keep it in the deep fryer the extra two minutes. They did rectify the situation and brought us out a fresh dish quickly and comped it from our bill. I ordered the Italian Beef, which was listed as one of their specialties. It was pretty darn good! The beef is freshly cut and prepared there, which was noticeable in the tenderness. Everybody else ordered something different-from pizza, to pasta to a burger-and were happy with the end result. Came here twice in one weekend while on vacation. I'm from Chicago, and I'm mad picky about bar food. This place is without a doubt the BEST bar food I've ever had. Shrimp wings--best shrimp I've ever had and I'm from Cali Wings--delicious and they have a 10 for $5 and 20 for $10 on Sunday's Ribs--the half rack of ribs is definitely a full rack...fall off the bone and $12!!!!! What?!!!! Chicken tenders--the best I've ever had and I've had a lot. Pizza--had he garbage pizza and it was HUGE and delicious. I couldn't recommend this place more. And the best part. If I'm ever in Lake Geneva again I'm coming back here. Go a little outside of the over crowded downtown area and enjoy some great sandwiches, pizza, salads and pastas. We sat at the huge U shaped bar and it was packed. We were lucky to find open seats during a busy Saturday night. Excellent bartenders with some personality. They took our food orders and our drinks were never empty and like I said before they were very crowded. We all had thin pizza which is as good as any top pizza joint in Chicago. The only downside for me was if I had known there was gonna be that much cheese on there I would have asked for it to be cooked well done. Wisconsin = lots of cheese duh! Incredible value!! Twenty chicken wings was twelve bucks. Most sandwiches are under eight bucks and fully loaded sixteen inch pizzas is under twenty dollars. For me, on this visit alone, it was 'as good as it get's' so five stars it is. read more

Technology & Yelp have once again pointed me in the right direction..... After a day at the water park, the kids wanted to eat somewhere off premises & the wife and I wanted to have a few beers. After a quick search with the Yelp app for iPhone, the decision was made to check this place out. Nice spot. It's the type of place that has charm...has a story....has flavor. By the looks of the building, they've added on to the building to accommodate their growth. I betcha that growth came from the pizza & the lasagna....WOW THEY WERE DELICIOUS. When a kid from Chicago can have a fantastic meal for two adults & two kids, a few beers & a jovial atmosphere for just a tad over $40, it's worth remembering. my lady and i were in town for the week from Chicago. I heard from a buddy to check this place out, so we did. It was just a wednesday night, but the place was pretty full. the waitress was SUPER nice and brought us our drinks/food quickly and with a smile. The pizza was intense. i got the meat pizza and it was LOADED with not only the 4 meats...BUT THE CHEESE!!!! If u dont like cheese, then as for minimal cheese cause their standard amount was a THICK layer!! Coming from Chicago, we have had our fair share of pizza, so we are tougher critics. This pizza was good, but nothing close to great.... We happened to be there on the night they had trivia too. it was a bunch of fun and keep the evening entertaining. Two people sitting there for two hours...eating appetizers, 2 pizzas and a bunch of beers and our bill was like $55!!!! Feel like we defintely got a lot of bang for our buck. While in town for an Irish dance competition, we chose Next Door Pub based on reviews. We weren't quite an enthralled as previous reviewers, but our dinner was pretty good overall. Our waitress did an excellent job until it got busy, and then she had too many tables to provide great service to everyone, which we pin on the owner/manager, not her. The meat lasagna was excellent. On the recommendation of our waitress, I got marinara sauce instead of meat sauce on top. Good call. The marinara has an excellent flavor, and large pieces of tomato that taste amazing with the cheesy lasagna. The kids enjoyed their pizza, and my husband said the burger was decent. We went so keen on the ambience. Just not our cup of tea. Everything looked cheap, from the tables and chairs to the items on the table. Kind of felt like I was eating at a kitchen at a kids' summer camp, from the noise to the décor to the lackadaisical service. So, not bad. Not great. OK. Went here for lunch on a Friday afternoon with a friend. It wasn't packed, yet service was fairly slow. There was nothing wrong with the food, it was fine, just nothing spectacular. I had the "heater" burger, I think, it had pepper jack cheese, jalapeños and red onions- I was expecting some "heat"- there was none. Went there again today with my wife and adult son - Got there 30 min wait - to be expected for lunch on a Sunday. Put our names on the wait list and popped into the bar section. Opened a tab with a beer and a soda, wife wasn't thirsty yet. Later ordered a mac cheese with bacon pizza for an appetizer - Incredible. For our meal the wife had a big plate of spaghetti and meat balls, side salad, my son had a huge sandwich - the barn yard brawler - with fries and I had a second beer with Guinness battered cod with a cup of cheddar soup. All of it was excellent and quite tasty. A real bargain at $56. Been here several times - the service is always fast and friendly and the food is always great. So the food is awesome and the service is even better. I'm having the Mushroom & Parmesan Ravioli tonight. It was great. My boyfriend ordered the Carolina Pork Sandwich. Also super awesome. The only downside? Everyone (local and tourist) knows about The Pub, so it is usually packed! We have come in for food on more than one occasion and couldn't find a place to sit in the bar. I opted for the bar which wasn't too busy given it was 3 in the afternoon on a Wednesday. Sat down and waited, and waited for the bartender or any of the 4 other employees standing around talking to take my order. Got up and grabbed a drink menu off a table in the restaurant. We've been here once before and liked it, but this time was really bad. We weren't checked on by the waitress for huge chunks of time. We had our three year old with us and the hourish wait was way too long for him to handle. I got a chicken parm sandwich. It was good, but I paid extra for broccoli, which amounted to a 1/2 a couple of cold mush. We had wings come out with our meal, which ended up coming later than our meals. Some of our food was colder and some was boiling hot. Tables around us were served before us despite coming after us.
