The staff was super-helpful, and the burgers - while not quite meat patties - were very tasty. And the fries!!!

Finally tried this chain for the first time, and it was really good! I ordered a simple hamburger and fries, and my friends ordered the same and a chicken sandwich. We all were impressed with the taste being convincingly as if it were made of meat! They also had a good looking shake menu, but we already had dessert plans elsewhere...next time!

This place was amazing, esp. because I'm always on the prowl for items on the menu that have fried chik'n. The women who took my order was very sweet and graciously explained all the items on the menu. I was craving something spicy and went with the fire chik'n sandwich. Also tried their chili cheeze fries. Everything was amazing, esp. the spicy sauce on the sandwich. I see that Next Level has a chain of other restaurants that specialize in vegan meals, and I am super excited to try different varieties.

I love this place! A great plant based burger joint with so many options to choose from especially so many gluten free options. Their special sauce is amazing and yummy shakes! What more can I say, this vegan is beyond satisfied with NLB :). I eat here at least once every other week. It's a staple for sure and I love the amazing deals they tend to have too!

I normally like the burger here. Today was the first time I ordered a Cesar salad and was quite a disappointing experience. The salad was supposed to come with kale, but it came with mix green and some baby kale that was already old and yellowed... just really poor quality and lack of vibrant energy to compare with Veggie Grill's Cesar salad. I had their Caesar salad just a few days before, and I really loved it so I thought I'll come to next level burger to order the same thing. Certainly, the quality is very poor here to compare with veggie grill. The company is under the same management. Hopefully they will notice the quality control in this location and make it better.

Next Level Burger is a plant-based paradise! Was warmly welcomed by the staff and walked through the menu. It is a fun / bright welcoming vibe with plenty of indoor and outdoor space. The diverse menu, especially the variety of sandwiches, left me spoiled for choice. After going back and forth on the many different burger options, I landed on the Beyond Fire Burger. It was a flavor explosion, and the fact that it's made with organic ingredients was a bonus. The sweet potato fries were the perfect crunchy side, and the organic vanilla milkshake was a wonderful sweet treat. Can't wait for my next vegan adventure!!

    Happy Burger Week 2022!

I am fan of Next Level Burger. They manage to take all of the flavor of fast food and make it slightly better for the planet. (If not for our health... Actually, it's a little better for our health! They publish nutrition info and burgers range from 400 to 1200 calories. Their ingredients are organic and non-GMO too. I digress.) They're 100% plant-based, but you wouldn't be able to tell if you didn't already know. Unfortunately, doing fast food plant-based means the prices can't be the same as your typical burger chain. Burgers range from $8.85 and up. I'm so excited for the day plant-based materials cost less to manufacture! I stopped by this particular location during Burger Week 2022, and while their special wasn't my favorite, in general their burgers and shakes and fries have never been a miss for me. Staff was as friendly as ever, and the small L-shared interior provided a handful of seating options. There is a small parking lot at this location and it can fill up. Street parking also an option.

I love NLB. I've been a fan since their opening on Hawthorne many years ago and they have stayed consistent if not gotten better over the years. I always get their cheeseburger w/ pepper Jack cheese and honestly even as a meat eater, this burger is one of my favorites. This time we tried the buffalo chicken sandwich & their fish sandwich. Both were so damn good... a must is always their onion rings, fries and one of their shakes too. The place is always clean and staff always very kind. I don't live down the street anymore but I'm happy to see them opening more locations around Portland would make the trek for one of my favorite vegan burgers either way. Whether you eat meat or not, you'll love next level burger.

Their entry in Portland Mercury's 2022 Burger Week was excellent. Do know I'm partial to flatter type burgers rather than towering monstrosities that are difficult to eat. The coconut and soy milk combo shake was also quite good. Unfortunately, I can't get on board with their tots and fries.

Love me a good vegan burger so I'll give Next Level Burger a rating closer to 3.5 stars for the burger. We ordered online for pick up but they're also doing delivery during this time. If you pick up they do have some tables outside if you want to eat at the location. WHAT WE GOT + Double burger + Fries + Cookies & Cream Shake When reading the reviews i was torn between getting a single or double party but ended up getting a double since I was having a late dinner. Based on my visit I would recommend getting the single patty with all the fixins since the ratio between patties and buns were off for me. You'll definitely be full don't get me wrong but the bread ended up breaking apart when trying to bite in so bites weren't consistent. I'd still come back and try a burger again since the patty was dense and the veggies were fresh. I'd skip the fries next time since they were OK. Shake was alright as well but I could probably pass next time. I will say we ended up coming early to the restaurant to wait until our order was ready and didn't get a notification. We saw a bunch of bags lined up so we just went in and asked and our order was already ready so if you're picking up I would be sure to just go in since they don't update the app as frequently.

    Had the strawberry seasonal shake.

Ask the Community - Next Level Veggie Grill

Are the gluten-free burger and hot dog buns also vegan?

    We are 100% plant-based!

Do they have regular burgers for people who are not vegan or gluten free?

They do not! But my non vegan fiancé and friends really love it.

Where can I find the ingredients of your plant-based "burgers" and sauces?

Thanks for reaching out. We generally don't give a full list of ingredients unless there is a specific allergy involved and we can always do our best to accommodate that.

We ate on the patio, which is beautiful, and my 3 year old niece had the time of her life in the bamboo 'forest' looking for pandas and koalas. We had two of the most charming women as servers, but I wrote down their names on the merchant-copy of the receipt, so I can't tell you who they were. As stated in the other reviews, this is a foodie's ideal. I you are going to order the hamburger, which is good, order something green for the table with it. If you want medium-rare, order rare. They change the menu alot, so I hope this is still be on it when you go. For dessert, "The Floating Island". Start with cream anglaise, then add green strawberries and rhubarb around the edges (totally counter intuitive for me, but worked perfectly!) and in the middle is a rectangle of meringue (the best I have ever had in my life) and a spoonful of lime granite to top it off. Spectacular! Go for it and Go !!!

We came here because I heard they have a great seafood menu and my kids recently started enjoying oysters and other shellfish that used to be "gross". We got here about 15 minutes to opening on a Friday night and there was already a line. We were fortunate to still get a spot outside which worked out because it wasn't too hot and the outdoor space is much more spread out than inside. We ordered a dozen oysters to start. Love their various droppers with infused mignottes and hot sauces. Really made it fun to try out different combos. We also got the cold smoked mussels, the hamachi crudo, grilled oysters, lobster roll, rockfish, and the little gem salad. In order of least favorite to favorite, the little gem salad was good but just not that memorable or spetqcular the way the other dishes were. Next, the grilled oysters were flavorful with the garlic and lime but I wished there was a little more kimchi flavor and overall more sauce given the size of the oysters (they were huge!). The lobster roll was good and I appreciated the different take on a lobster roll but my favorite lobster rolls that really accentuate the lobster flavor and this masked it a little. The hamachi crudo was a surprise. It's a dish you see a lot and I was a little worried about how the pineapple might overtake the rest of the flavors but that didn't happen. The balance between sweet, savory, sour, and crunch from the peanuts was perfect and every bite was really enjoyable. Finally, my favorite was the cold smoked mussels. You never know how fish sauce and tom kha might overwhelm everything but again, their chef understands flavor balance really well. You could taste all the flavors, the smokiness, the slight bitter and sour umami flavors and slight sweetness to round it out. It was outstanding and highly recommend. They also have great cocktails that go well with their dishes. Really enjoyed the experience here and will definitely come back.

In addition to creative, well-prepared cocktails, the food here is equally spectacular. My wife and I shared their Wagyu tartar and a soft shell crab sando. You'll see these two dishes at virtually every single table if you look around the restaurant during your visit and there's good reason for it: these two dishes are perfectly executed. Every piece of the tartare is evenly cut the be the same size, and there wasn't a single piece that was stringy or chewy. The dish itself was well-seasoned, and the freshly fried kettle chips provided the crunchy texture the dish needed. The soft shell crab sando is served between two toasted slices of rich, decadent, buttered milk bread. The crab has a wonderfully crispy outer shell and atop of the crab is a mountain of crunchy, tangy slaw. They must have done a bunch of R&D and experimentation playing with the ratio of the ingredients because every bite was balanced. If there's one dish you have to order during your visit, make it the crab sando. The two cocktails I tried out were the "loch stock" -- mezcal, smoky scotch, ancho reyes, lapsang souchong sweet vermouth, and mole bitters, and the "up country road" -- bourbon, coconut-inflused sweet vermouth, macadamia nut campari. I cannot articulate how incredible these two drinks tasted. The flavor profile of the drinks are punchy and exactly as described. I am certain there's something on the menu for everyone's palette. I would highly advise you to stay hydrated throughout your visit so you're able to make it to two, or even three round of drinks. The drinks are that good.
