I got the chicken and pork banh mi. This was probably my favorite out of all the things I got. I really like the meat, its so flavorful. For the banh mi I think it deserves 4 stars. I also got the fries with bulgogi beef and the chicken wings. I wanted to try the sliders so I got that as well. The fries were really good by itself. The chicken wings were ok. However I really enjoyed the jalepeno sauce they had. I couldn't give this place 4 stars in totality bc the sliders was too sweet. Very sweet. It wasn't my cup of tea. I ordered two of the Bulgogi Steaks with Garlic Noodles along with a fried egg. I'd give the food a solid 9/10 only because the portions could've been larger but that's not a serious issue because it was filling for what it was worth. Before I get there let me say that I've been to this location a few times and service is always good. Restaurant is clean and the they're open late! Now, this is possibly the last time I go to any NK. Yea man, $18 for garlic noodles? That's insane. I go to Vietnamese restaurant all the time. I drive a truck for a living so I'm all over the place. I know what food should cost and why. And uhh, noodles are cheap, veggies are cheap, pork is cheap. So why am I paying $18 for garlic noodles with pork? Idk I've had the same dish at different spots for waaaay less I'll give you your well earned 4 stars. But I'm done here. The Banh mi is over priced too. So is everything else. Quality of ingredients might be there. But again, $18? Nah. It's been great, but I'll just go to other places. Keep up the good work. I will miss you. Others will support, I can't no more. I got a pork banh mi to go between clients and was so happy to find this spot. I also got a Thai tea. It was ready when I arrived. The sandwich and thai tea went perfectly together and I was energized for the remainder of the day. It was the perfect lunch and I'm happy I found this where I did. Finally something different for the area. It was a quiet and chill environment and it was well received for me. 11:30 lunch on a Sunday. I think it was right when it opened. Layout of of the restaurant is unique, might be they converted another restaurant. Ordered the chicken banh mi, garlic fries, and garlic noodles with pork. The Chicken in the Banh mi was really tasty. I'm not quite sure what the marinade was but super flavorful and went really well with the fresh veggies in the sandwich. I think it may have been one of my favorite Banh Mis I have ever had. Garlic Noodles with Pork. Garlic noodles with super buttery and lots of garlic. Noodles were a little over cooked and mushy but the flavors were great. Garlic Fries. For 5 bucks they give you like 2 large McDonald's size fries. This should be shared with multiple people. Great flavors with parsley and garlic but the garlic doesn't really stick to the fries. This was our first stop in LA after a friend recommended it to us. We weren't staying in LA and it was on our way from the airport to San Bernardino. We got the Bulgogi Short Rib Steak Sandwich (Banh Mi), Garlic Noodles with Grilled Pork, Popcorn Chicken, Egg Rolls, and Golden Bao. We really loved our meal. My favorites were the two small things - the Golden Bao and the Egg Rolls. The Golden Bao were slightly sweet from being fried and it was perfect. The egg rolls were not what you would usually find at your takeout Chinese restaurant and I think they're the best I've had. I also enjoyed the Garlic Noodles and Popcorn Chicken. The grilled pork was my favorite meat we tried. The popcorn chicken was very moist and we loved the sauce. I was a little disappointed by the banh mi. It was good, but it didn't live up to my favorite banh mi sandwiches. The bread wasn't crispy enough and the pickled veggies had a little too much liquid. There are so many delicious options at Nguyen's Kitchen, it's difficult to pick what to get. My wife and I were pleasantly overwhelmed with all the choices. Though we braved our analysis paralysis and ordered bulgogi short rib steak sandwich, garlic noodles with grilled pork, egg rolls, popcorn chicken and golden baos. The food was excellent. I was blown away by the egg rolls and golden baos. Most other reviewers believe the bulgogi is best but I disagree. I think the best protein we had was the grilled pork. This location is open late, which is great because not to many places in the LA area are open past 9pm.. So if you are looking for some late night good food Nguyen's Kitchen has a wide variety of items to choose from... We ordered the garlic noodles with shrimp, (i wish they came with more shrimp for the price) The noodles were very garlicky... I love garlic so I thought they were good but I did smell like garlic for about a week ... We got the chicken wings, they were ok... very small and not to much meat... We also got the beef sandwich with garlic fries... The sandwich could have had more meat in it... The garlic fries were good and a good portion... After wanting to try this place for so long finally did the other night and I have to say I'm disappointed. Now we already know there are tons of really good and cheap Vietnamese food so I already was hesitant on paying for overpriced Vietnamese/American/ fusion-ish food but I really wanted to like this place. $8 for a banh mi... I wouldn't have mind if the banh mi was delicious but it really fell short for me. I got both the bulgogi short rib steak $7.75 and the grilled pork $6.95 and both were very underwhelming. The flavors weren't there, they didn't use traditional Vietnamese butter (Mayo) not to mention the bread was soft and not crunchy at all. Bulgogi was tough and the beef was a bit chewy. 2 1/2 stars**** Egg rolls were pricey too and unfortunately over Fried. The inside wasn't too bad but it would've been nice to have a properly cooked egg roll especially for the price 2 egg rolls for $2.95. 2 1/2 stars**** Garlic noodles probably the best item I tried that night but definitely not the best garlic noodles I've had. Has a bit of sweetness to it. Good amount of garlic and a decent size. 4 stars**** NK chicken Wings were crispy and there were 6 wings that came in an order. Wings were on the small side but has a decent amount of flavor for being a dry rub. Food was ok, not a lot food for the price. My big concern is that fact there was no hand soap in the bathroom. For one I'm eating spicy food and can't wash it off my hands. Second it's very unsanitary to have absolutely no hand soap in the bath room. It's not like they ran out right before I came in, the soap dispenser was bone dry. When I asked about soap the worker just told me they didn't have any. Pretty sad, makes me wonder if the workers are washing their hands if they don't have any soap for the customers. read more

This restaurant has been on my bucket list for a long time...I've heard a lot about it and couldn't wait to try it after reading so many reviews and looking at all the delicious looking pictures of the food. Nguyen's Kitchen Asian Fusion is new in South Gate. It's located inside a stripe mall, there was plenty free parking. As we entered we immediately noticed the place was clean inside as well outside. It was easy to view the menu and order because of the rotating marquee style menu up high which made it easy to be seen. They were very welcoming as we walked in. We ordered the Garlic Fries, you could choose your own protein to add - either shrimp, chicken or steak. I must say this dish offered tons of flavor, we thought it was delicious! We also ordered the wings, which I found o.k. only because I didn't find them to be crispy enough for my liking. Also ordered the Cajun Popcorn Chicken, full of spicy flavor...it was delicious. We ordered one Garlic Noodles dish with jumbo prawns and one Garlic Noodles with chicken & jumbo prawns - they were both the bomb!!! Last but not least we ordered pork egg rolls which we found to be, o.k. They also serve rice bowls, salad bowls and sandwiches along with a nice selection of drinks. The lady who picked up my call was very nice, she made sure she got the order right and it was only 15 mins until our food is ready. I have tried garlic noodles at other Vietnamese restaurants before and I'd give this dish 4 out of 5 because it's not as garlic-y as I'd like it to be. If we compare this with Boston lobster or Newport seafood restaurant in San Gabriel, I think their garlic noodle need a little bit more of seasoning.. Their protein is good, my friend got the pork one and I tried it, and I would order that next time! This place is home of the yummy Banh Mi! Of course I could get a Banh Mi somewhere else but I chose Nguyen's since I heard about it. The service was quick and smooth and while there was given an awesome drink recommendation which was the cucumber limeade. It was amazing! The Banh Mi I ordered was pork of course, because that's the only way to have a Banh Mi lol. It was very good and I enjoyed the hot sauce served on the side. It added an extra kick to the sandwich.
