    Full slab
    John T.

Went there for Mother's Day, made a reservation and got right in. They were busy but the staff was attentive and friendly. I offered the full slab of ribs and they were wonderful! So tender and the bbq sauce tasted great! I would definitely come back again.

Hamburger with coleslaw on a gluten-free bun

We decided to try out this location and we are happy that they have a pretty good gluten-free menu since I have celiac. The hostess was nice and it took a few minutes for us to be seated. The restaurant is clean and the server was nice as well. The bar is louder so we prefer to sit in the dining room, which is casual and quieter. My husband had a red sangria, which was good and a good price for happy hour which is Monday through Friday from 3 to 6. We both had burgers and I had the gluten-free bun and we both had coleslaw. Our burgers were cooked correctly and they were tasty and generous on the beef. Their pricing is good and we will definitely go back. The alcoholic beverage did take a while to get and my husband had to ask about it, I think they were behind on other people's orders. Our food came out in a decent amount of time.

Had a family meet up with all my nephews + my great-nephew, before Christmas.

Had a pre-Christmas gathering with my husband & kids, my nephews. It was early day like 1pm. The server was great to chat with, took this nice photo. Only thing is when they brought out plates. Some of us were handed our plates but the rest set on a tray & all the employees fled the scene. So I looked for a minute but then just pretended I worked there and handed off the other plates. My daughter loves Nick & Jake's because they give kids a little plate of grapes & crackers. Some of the meals we had, I had the quesadilla, husband had wings, one nephew had chicken parm, niece-in-law had an awesome fried chicken sandwich.

    Dinner Crispy Thai Shrimp

Large selection of American fare. The food came out hot and prices were really reasonable for large portions. The kids burger is pretty big. The sides are kinda small, especially the Asparagus but they are also priced at only $4 so order multiple if you're hungry. The Thai crispy shrimp are not Thai flavored they are just covered in a spicy mayo sauce which was still really good but not "Thai" flavored in any way.

Honestly, lackluster service and food. Server caught an attitude and the food was just meh.

There were no instructions once the order was placed (or during the process of checking out). When we arrived we parked in the TO-GO spot and waited 10 minutes, assuming we were just a little early (which we were). Finally went inside and our food had just been sitting there for "who knows" how long. We ordered fried mushrooms app, The Longhorn burger with fries, and Mushroom Swiss burger with chili. With tip, which I gave a bigger tip for curbside, it came to just about $50. We had a short drive home. The mushrooms were getting soggy from their likely longer-than-necessary wait in the box, but they were still good. The burgers were very tasty. My fries were extremely soggy and floppy; very undercooked (not just soggy from steaming in the box). The chili was a nightmare. It smelled like canned spaghetti sauce and was so salty it was barely edible. I don't know if it even had chili powder or other seasoning in it. Next day I put the left over fries in the oven and got them crisped up and they were actually pretty good. Despite their tasty burgers and good portion size, I doubt we'd be willing to return. The flimsy styrofoam containers for takeout didn't hold up well, even though all we did was carry the bag to the car and into the house.

By far and away my favorite southwest JoCo sports bar/food & drink spot. Sure, it's a bar & grille,…read morebut their kitchen churns out some really good food and specials are always creative and featured. You'll find it right across the street from 3&2 Baseball's west complex. If there is youth baseball in the nicer months, then you can bet that some of those sluggers will matriculate across the street in search of lunch or dinner with families in tow. And with good reason, because Callahan's offers something for just about every palate. I would suggest sampling their BBQ, of which the menu is not vast but what they do, they do really well. The K-7 Combo is one of my favorites, a brisket & sliced sausage sandwich with a house BBQ sauce (or even the K-10, which subs in pulled pork for the sausage). Really good entrée and pairs just right with some of their sides, like a house potato salad or smoked beans. The wing game is pretty strong here, featuring a sweet & spicy glaze called the Honey Badger. It's not too sweet and not too spicy and sits nicely atop their twice-done wings. A basket of wings (8) runs $13.50 and that's a fairly good meal without a side. The kids' menu has plenty of the usual suspects, but Callahan's also does thin crust pizza from scratch and knocks those out of the park. I'd suggest the Big 8, which is their version of a 'supreme', and that's enough for at least two people, or maybe one teenager. Local knowledge: if you just want a side, then I'd suggest their sweet potato fries. Cut in-house and super crispy, and a basket alone is a phenomenal choice. Service is always friendly and quick and check the specials on the board as you come in. There are TVs in almost every direction, because sportsball, and there is not a bad seat in the place. The patio faces west and is open in nicer weather, and the bar has plenty of seating if you just want a solo spot. Prices are totally on par with the area, and the food delivers a value that matches or outpaces the price. Easy access, friendly service, and great food!

Parking was ample outside and we came in right about dinner time. We were sat immediately and I soon had a nice red beer. The cheese burgers were the special, so I opted for one of those with fries + the "my girlfriend isn't hungry" add of a couple chicken strips and some extra fries. The burger was perfect, but I've gotta say...for being a place called *Burg* and Barrel, their chicken strips are the best. They're juicy, the breading is fantastic, and they're always just really high quality. We came in while they were starting the trivia night deal, which I couldn't care less about, but if that's something you're a fan of...it's a thing here. Overall it was just another fantastic meal at the best burger/brew chain in the KC area.

Box sizes and to-go orders don't really have a good presentation or fit with the amount of food you normally get while dining in at the restaurant. But Burg and Barrel has it down. Everything travels very well. And they are good at ensuring they have the right boxes for the right items. Venting in place to keep the fries (or tots) from steaming up and getting soggy. Boxes that are big enough for the full sandwich and a full order of fries. Snagged a beer while I waited and didn't even make it all the way through before the bartender showed up with our to-go order. Then speaking of Ambiance... we got to sit in my awesome living room and wolf down burgers and a steak salad while watching the movie of choice for the night.
