What a cute place and building. Having lived here for 26 years I cannot believe I have never been to the madison area. ADORABLE. Staff were very sweet and attentive. Everything was delicious. We had bolognese, halibut, mushroom bruschetta, calamari, french dip, and mushroom risotto. I didn't get a photo of the bruschetta. It. Was. Crazy. Good. The bread was so yummy. My oldest son got the french dip and he was hoping it was on the same type of bread and was a tiny disappointed it wasn't. Mushroom risotto had a lovely variety of mushrooms and was very light for a risotto. My kids had bolognese and loved it. They stated it was very flavorful and loved the wide noodles. My husband had the halbut and the fish was a good portion size with the sides complimented it well. We will definitely be returning. read more

Amazing friendliness and solid service. Lovely aperol spritz! Their Caesar salad is sort of a vinaigrette style so if you're craving girl dinner- this might not be it. Very clean and absolutely beautiful space! I loved the colors and the overall aesthetic of the décor. The gentleman at the front of the house was running everything on his own and did an amazing job managing the steady flow of customers. It was so nice to see regulars coming in--he knew them by name and they clearly knew him, which created such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food was very good! I ordered a soup and a sandwich, which isn't something I usually go for, but I really enjoyed it. I would love to come back and try their dinner menu, especially if it includes more protein options. Sometimes you're just craving an absolutely quintessential lunch and Nicks was so good! We had the Cobb and turkey club. Both were exactly what we were craving and hit the spot, although wish we had a little more dressing from the get go. The battered? A true gem for lunch or dinner in Madison Park. Once you walk in you feel like you are walking into someone's house for a meal. They treat you like family and you feel comfortable. The place was nice, bright, and inviting. For drinks, we ordered a glass of Rose and a Spicy Margarita. Both drinks were delicious and my glass of Rose had a generous pour. For food, we ordered Mushroom Bruschetta, Apple & Radicchio Salad, and the French Dip. The staff was so nice and they split the salad and French dip sandwich and fries into two for us. I loved the depth on the mushroom flavors and on the grilled sourdough. I have recently been obsessed with Radicchio and this salad definitely satisfied my Radichhio craving. Accompanied with blue cheese and crispy bacon made the salad light and refreshing. This french dip sandwich was on Seattle Times best hot sandwiches and I understand why. The ratio of thinly sliced beef, caramelized onions, and provolone was perfection. Each bite dipped into the au jus along with the hand cut fries make for the perfect sandwich combo. We've been here before and it was great so it was really disappointing to have a bad meal and even worse service. We were seated in the back room which would have been okay except we were ignored from then on. Had to get the manager to take a minute to order drinks. Our waitress took her sweet time getting with us to order an appetizer. Another long wait to order entrees and she never bothered to see if we were fine, wanted more beverages or anything else! The waitress we had last time brought us our food and remembered us. My date had the rib eye that he didn't want to finish it was so poor. My risotto made me ill later in the evening. Our waitress never bothered to come back and ask if we wanted dessert. We had to ask for the check. We wanted to speak to the manager about it but he was too busy. We're not ones to stiff a server for bad food but she was a lousy waitress so she got a $5. That's $4.50 more than I would have left. read more

Nick's did not disappoint this foodie!  We had reservations in the evening, but showed up early since we were able to sneak away from work a little early.  The place was just opening as we arrived and completely empty.  It gave us time to take in the beautiful bar and art work around the restaurant.  I enjoyed the casual feel of the place: open and airy, classy but not stuffy, clean and crisp. Our waitress greeted us and got our first round of drinks and let us know to enjoy the quiet time together while we could as they were expecting a full house (it was a Tuesday night mind you).  And indeed it began to fill up fast after 6PM.  And even when completely full and bustling, we were able to carry on a conversation with ease. We planned on doing all the courses, so we settled into our little spot and started sipping our delightful cocktails as we caught up on life.  Our waitress remained attentive just at the right times and it was clear she was very on top of it even while taking care of multiple tables! Our choices for the evening; my friend had the Spicy Margarita : just the right amount of spice and clearly made with all fresh ingredients.  The perfect bite of lime to compliment the smooth Tequila.  It was light and refreshing for sure.  But I'm a bourbon gal, so I opted for the Black Manhattan.  I loved the simplicity of this cocktail and the bourbon was perfect for a crisp fall evening.  Both cocktails were strong, so slow sipping is recommended.  For our second cocktails that evening she opted for the House Old Fashioned and I ordered an off menu a Vieux Carré.  Both were well made, but I really wish they had served mine a large rock as well instead of normal ice. For dinner we opted to share everything of course so we could both get the full experience.  Course one: Mushroom Bruschetta.  Oh lord was this so good.  The earthy mushrooms with the perfect thick cut sourdough and the slight bit of greens was a delight for our taste buds and had me very hopeful for things to come.  Second: The soup that night was a cauliflower and gruyere.  It was smooth, creamy, warm, and oh so savory.   We also paired it with the fig and poached pear salad.  They were both delicious and even my friend who said "I'm not sure I'll like that soup" loved it!  Third course:  We opted for the King Salmon and Duck Breast.  The salmon was very light with a wonderful earthy umami sauce with a hint of spiciness and texture added with the crispy rice.  The duck was rich and flavor forward and everything on the plate melded together perfectly!  We were both pretty full and happily buzzing at this time, but we decided to push through and get the final course while sipping some coffee and tea.  I had the spiced pumpkin cheesecake and she had the chocolate cake.  Both of them were decadent and sealed the deal for us that Nick's was indeed a spot to put on the list to come back to.   So get your reservation in and get an Uber so you can enjoy the evening and not have to skimp on their great cocktails ;) read more

Went with friends + our 2 year old toddler. Perfect time with great kid friendly service (crayons and a toy car upon arrival!), great food (I always love the fried chicken sandwich - the bolognese is great too!), and a relatively spacious environment for the being in the middle of the neighborhood. The kind of place that has it all! Warm, friendly staff. Welcoming and fun vibe. Excellent cocktails. Superb service (Natasha was the best). And ... the food... wow!!!!! So good from start to finish. I recommend everything we ordered. We ordered one round of ceviche, scarfed it down and immediately ordered a second round. The Brussels are another must, prepared very light and crisp yet tasty. Least favorite would have been the eggplant and zucchini but even that was good! To top it off the owner, Nick, frequently pops by to make sure you're having a good time, he may even add an extra splash of rosé to your glass or surprise you with some frozé. I cannot speak highly enough of Nick's On Madison. As someone with celiac, dining out can be a anxiety inducing experience as you never know if the restaurant will be able to accommodate you or take you seriously. At Nick's I felt taken care of on a level I've never experienced before. My friend who set up our reservation told the restaurant ahead of time about my needs, and not only were they prepared with a list of gluten free options, the chef had additionally gone out of their way to add something to the menu for me so that I would have one more thing to choose from out of the shortened list. This blew me away. I'm so used to having 1 or 2 things to maybe choose from, but to have something added was so very special. Based on this alone Nick's is amazing. Thankfully the whole night was fantastic. The apps, drinks and food hit every high note, to the point that I even forgot to take pictures of the food. I am looking forward to going back and trying more dishes. Nick's is a clear winner. read more

Service was friendly. Cute little place in Madison Park area. Nice that they have a parking lot, even though it's sort of small, I managed to find a place at night since most of the other shops in the complex were closed. The drinks were good, especially the #SelfCare one with gin, kombucha, and pepper. I do wish their cocktail menu was larger but of course you can probably pretty much order whatever you want since it's a full bar, but I'm a sucker for interesting cocktails. The charcuterie board was pretty basic, would only be good for a wine/happy hour. Brussel sprouts were crisp and fresh, not greasy or fried like most places, so it was a nice change up. Nice that they took reservations on open table. I would come back to try more food. read more

Finally made it here on a Friday night with 8:15pm reservations. Our table wasn't quite ready for us when we arrived, so we were given frozes while we waited (only about 5 minutes of waiting, no big deal). For drinks, I ordered the La Bandera and my friends ordered a strawberry margarita and a froze, all very good and $12 each! We split the burrata appetizer ($15) and it was incredible, although only 2 pieces of bread (we were able to split it up between the three of us though!). I ordered the risotto which was phenomenal, and my friends ordered the burger and the fried chicken sandwich which they said were really good. We all had leftovers and spent under $50 each with tip! I am so impressed with the service and the quality of the drinks and food here. I will absolutely be coming back, and will be saving room for dessert next time! read more

HEADLINE: Crafted dining experience for the rest of us. Nick's is excellent. As a self-proclaimed cocktail connoisseur (had to look up how to spell it) I am always heartened when I see a Black Manhattan on the menu at restaurant. It's a sure fire way to tell they are staying up to date on the culinary zeitgeist. But this place goes beyond what's hot and still does the classics right. The bees knees and espresso martini were also perfect, and I can't wait to go back for the spicy marg. The food was also, to take heed from musical stylings of The Cars, just what I needed. The half charcuterie platter was perfect for two. Especially loved was the honey brie and the prosciutto which was tender without being chewy. The entrees that followed were wonderful, the bolognese was humble and rich, with delectable chunks of carrot and meat, and my companion told me the mussels were as good as any she'd ever had (I don't particularly enjoy shellfish so can't comment myself.) And, the cast iron brownie was a nice finale. My only complaint being that if you're going to give me that wealth in brownie, I am going to need at least four times as many scoops of vanilla ice cream to counter its richness! Love it. So in love with this cute little neighborhood spot! Came here for the first time for happy hour and dinner tonight, and can foresee many more HHs and evenings here. First of all... happy hour cocktails (old fashioneds and moscow mules) for $7 - how can you go wrong? We got one of each and both great. We were able to make them both less sweet which was much appreciated. The happy hour food was great as well. Loved the caesar and pork belly baos. Next time we will for sure try to fried chicken sandwich. For dinner we had the bolognese and burger. Both great. I am going to go on a limb and say the fries here were top 3 fries I've ever had. Perfectly balance of potato flavor, fried and salty. Awesome service from Josh and we saw the owner Nick come out and make rounds which was so awesome to see. Seattle- so many choices in dining, too many reviews celebrating mediocrity. Well Nicks on Madison does more then set the bar high- they blew the lid off of it. Sure the food was delectable, of course the place was charming, but it was the server who made our date-night a success. The light conversation included menu recommendations, what to do after dinner and (with great alacrity) an educated in-depth look at the cocktails! So if it's a birthday, anniversary or just a reward for getting through the week, walk- nay, run to Nicks on Madison and order yourself a much deserved libation (I suggest the Old Cuban). My partner and I come here at least once a month, if not more. It is a cozy neighborhood spot with delicious food. We come for the food and the staff. They are great. The food was not good. I ordered the black bean burger and it was dry and nearly not edible. Worse black bean burger I have ever had. The service was horrible. Our waitress was extremely rude. When it came time to cash out, two people from our group wanted to cash out so they could leave. The rest of the group was going to stay for dessert but the server refused to separate the bill for the 2 people. There were only 6 of us. Our company celebrated Nick's on Madison. It was perfect for our party of 11. The atmosphere was so warm and inviting. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. What a wonderful little gem this is. We were in the neighborhood to visit the Japanese garden and wanted lunch before we headed to the airport. So glad we found this place. We were greeted warmly when we entered. Decor is simple but our food was great. When I saw what the size of the hamburger delivered to the table next to us, I knew we had to share a sandwich. We ordered the french dip. It was more than enough for two. It typically comes with a side of fries but we ordered a salad instead. It arrived with two large bowls of au jus (we could have easily shared one of those also). It was so very, very good. The gentleman who greeted us as we came in (quite possibly the owner) was also our server. Perhaps he was the cook, also, :-). Any way, he was so friendly and made us feel very welcome.
