Overall, it was a cool experience and the food was delicious! I dropped my rating due to slow service (including waiting for a table), and steep prices. I'm aware that Hi Spot is located in Seattle, so everything is a bit more expensive, but most of the entrees didn't seem like it came with $20 worth of food (almost every entree was $18.50 - $21). However, the restaurant is retrofitted inside an old house, and I absolutely love house-restaurants! It's a very cool vibe inside, and there's even a covered outdoor patio during warmer weather! TL;DR: awesome venue with delicious food, but slower service and steep prices.

Really good food! Everything we had was delicious and I was very impressed. Their patio is dog friendly (I called to confirm and there were 3 other dogs on the patio while we were there). The service was great even though they seemed a little short staffed and everything came out quickly. The ambiance was nice because the patio was covered and heated but we had enough space between us and other tables and dogs. Inside it actually looked a little more cramped as the tables are inside a remodeled house. Would def go again and bring our pup!

Came here as a group of 5 around 1 pm on Sunday and didn't have to wait (although we sat outside!). I ordered the chorizo scramble and it was good. Nothing to write home about but a nice spot/area to drop by and catch up with friends.

The staff here were all very kind and the interior is really charming. It has a cozy feeling. The food was good!! The French toast could've been a bit sweeter and my friend said the avocado toast was missing an ingredient that they couldn't put their finger on. Our hot drinks of a hot chai and London fog took 30 minutes to come out. Other than that, the food was delicious!!

Kind of disappointed with the service: after walking in, the server didn't bother to ask us if we would like to sit outdoors or indoors. It's a sunny day in Seattle (which is rare), so we had to request and insist to ask for a table at their patio. The tofu scramble wasn't what I expected, I make tofu scramble every morning so expected it to be more like a scramble similar to Cafe Flora with nutritional yeast and tumeric to make it more eggy/egg-like. Honestly, I would have preferred the midday menu and coming for a 2 pm late lunch, I'm kind of surprised that only the breakfast menu was offered so despite that the eggs and salad was okay, it wasn't amazing. And I would have chosen a better meal off their midday menu. They also forgot my Bloody Maria and seems like they expect us to order right away once we were seated? After asking whether we can have a few more minutes to take a look at the menu, they took probably 15 minutes to come back to take our order (longer than we expected since we were hungry). I'm not sure if we'll be back. Staff seemed overworked and perhaps we'll have a better experience if they're not understaffed?

What a cute little brunch spot this is! The service was fantastic, really nice, attentive and speedy. The food was good. I'd definitely come back.

Came here on a saturday around 11:30 and waited only 10 min for a seat for 3. Got seated outside and it's nice and covered with heaters (which weren't needed). The food was super yummy with good size portions. It is cool that the downstairs cafe is open to the public, however that seemed to slow down drinks to the customers dining. Also, someone in my party asked for a side and it never came. But other than that the food is great and the vibes are nice! Would definitely come back.

Came here on a Sunday at 11:30 to brunch with four people. It was lightly raining, so we opted to wait for an inside table (despite the nice covered porch with heaters, the light rain coming in sideways meant apparently the food still got wet). It did take a while to seat us, but it was pretty busy. The main dining area is on the "second" (kind of a half) floor so if you're not great with (a small number of) stairs, I wouldn't recommend this one. The time between ordering and getting the food felt a little long. Not sure if it was actually, or just because we were hungry? But the service was definitely a little slow. And someone at our table drained his water glass and didn't get a refill until the staff with the water pitcher passed us several times. We shared The Round-Up and Sammy Sue. The food was delicious! I really enjoyed the creaminess of the scrambled eggs + goat cheese; the fruit cups were great. The Sammy Sue had such a great soft sourdough, although a little messy because the fried egg was already cut. Potatoes were good too. They forgot my bread as part of the The Round-Up, and were quick to pop in new ones when I asked... and the new ones never showed up either. I noticed a pile of untaken bread in their oven, cooling and sitting there, for the entirety of our meal. No one really checked up on us until we were done with our food, so I didn't ask a third time, and by the time we were checked in on, I no longer wanted the bread (just the check and to pay). So... the service was a little scattered for sure. But the food I did get was great! I don't think this would be my first choice based on the experience, but I'd be happy to go again if someone else chose it!

The inside of this place is definitely an old house. It's a pretty cool vibe and due to the layout each room feels pretty intimate. If you're going on the weekend be ready for a wait. The food is excellent. Tastes extremely fresh and clean. The service was rock solid. I would definitely recommend. Cheers!

The food was great and so was the fresh fruit. It's adorable inside and the staff are really wonderful. Well lit nice space for breakfast.

Super cute and trendy coffee and breakfast spot. We went on a Saturday around 10 and it was packed so be prepared to wait. Food was good, came out fast. I had the best iced blackberry tea I've ever had. Really delicious!! There is only street parking but it's in a very cute area with lots of shops.

UPDATE 2/22/26 I see that Vince U (Yelper right before us) deleted his comments about not receiving a rose and thought maybe it was Violet being possibly biased against gay couples. I understand why it was deleted but wanted to give context around my first paragraph above. We were very underwhelmed by the prix menu for Valentines dinner. I noticed Vince U did not take a picture of the lamb, which was about the size of a half-dollar coin, if anyone remembers what those are LOL. Yes the two bites of lamb was decent but nothing to write home about. Agreed, the Risotto was very delicious indeed, salmon was great, chocolate desert was very, very good, otherwise the rest was OK. But I wouldn't agree to understanding the assignment, for us. I had the wine flight and I love a good wine. These were all OK wines. I get it, you have to watch your costs and make a good profit, to which I totally agree. I wish we would have tried Violet our first time for the regular menu. I'm guessing we would have rated 4 or 5 stars more than likely. For a bill of $400+ (including a great tip because we love to support) we felt like we were almost ripped off. I get it, it's a special occasion and lots of work goes in to these things but walking out of there $400+ poorer really made us feel bad, from a value perspective. We never mind paying for value, but this was not it and did not hit the mark for us.

This is definitely a place you go if you want to have an experience, and we were happily surprised at how well that experience went. Some of the top items were pasta in wagyu beef broth, scallops kind of like ceviche, savory macrons, squab (some kind of small bird), and the desserts were great as well! They also give you a little coffee or tea to go as you walk home which is nice, and the cups are pretty cute. One thing to note, is we had the non-alchoholic drink pairing, and thought it would be more like cocktails without alcohol. I would suggest you look more at what it actually entails via the drink menu before you have it. It's a lot of fermented items, so if you don't like kambucha then I would suggest getting something else. Overall though, I definitely recommend this place, I will be going back as their menu changes with the seasons.

Most the reviews I read mentioned the pancakes are the best item to get, so my girlfriend and I couldn't resist. This location is tucked away in the North Capitol Hill neighborhood surrounded by trees and older apartments/ homes, and the interior is just as relaxing and quaint. It's dark lit, intimate with modern fixtures and flowers, and has one centerpiece which caught my attention before anything else: a restored tower espresso machine which appeared to be from the 1950's. I'd only seen an espresso machine like this at the Kent Bakke Espresso Museum in Ballard, so as a coffee nerd with an emphasis on espresso, it was lovely to see. It took us about 5 minutes to get seated at the bar which is outstanding time for a brunch spot in Cap Hill on a Sunday. We were able to order within 5 minutes of deciding what we wanted, which was the bacon egg sandwich with avocado spread, omelette with hearth roasted potatoes, an espresso, and the main event, the pancake. I can't express how much the pancake exceeded my expectations. It was wide and tall, extremely fluffy, had decadent bourbon whipped cream and cinnamon stewed strawberries which is something I've craved for a long time. The menu states to wait 20 minutes for the pancake to cook and they miraculously got it to us in 10. The other breakfast items were tasty but left something to be desired, so we ordered extra Romesco sauce and they gave us a tub of it which helped immensely because of how much flavor and complexity was packed in it. The espresso was very fittingly a traditional Italian style dark roast from Caffe Umbria Roasters which hits the spot when hungover. We were also lucky enough to have sat right next to the espresso machine and the bartender kindly let me take a video of him pulling a shot which still gives me joy to this day. Speaking of the bartender, he happened to be one of the chefs working at the bar due to them being down a waiter and a chef which really speaks to how kindly we were treated despite dealing with an extremely short staffed Sunday. Our waitress and the rest of the staff also made us feel welcome and not as an irritant when making requests which is hard to find in Seattle. Overall, my experience at Single Shot left an extremely positive impression on me. We were assisted quickly, never felt as a bother, and got exactly what we needed to recover and enjoy the rest of our day. We will be back for that pancake and will encourage our friends and family to visit!

Though I think their weekend brunch reservations usually book out fast so would recommend snagging a reservation in most cases. The space is intimate, but when we went there were only a few other people there making for a slow-paced peaceful dining experience on a gloomy Seattle day. The person with me has lots of food intolerances and our server went above and beyond to check with kitchen staff to double-check ingredients. I was truly appreciative of them being able to accommodate to them since their intolerances are pretty restrictive. I had the omelette which was delicious, I tend to lean on the savory side and enjoyed all the layers of this dish. A bit of heat from the sauce, the freshness of the greens, and richness of the omelette balanced each other nicely and really brought this dish to life. However, I was truly SURPRISED by the pancakes. I have never had pancakes like this and they were incredibly delicious. The portion was insane though I think you could easily share the pancake with 4-6 people. I almost wish it also came in a personal size. Overall, I definitely recommend coming here to try the pancake. It was truly one of a kind and made this meal very memorable!
