Tried this out on a Friday night and had the best experience! We were running late to our reservation and were instantly moved to a later time at our request, no trouble. The ambience was very cute- I loved the murals on the wall, rumored to be remnants of the previous restaurant in the space. We ordered two pasta dishes, which were both good- the strongest part of both in my opinion was the house made pasta. My friend said she typically doesn't like whole wheat pasta, but these were delicious. I would have liked more cheese on the Campanelle. The highlight of the night was the incredible service, with a close second being the unique cherry-misu, with layers of cherry cream, buckwheat sponge, and roasted cherries. Especially appreciated that it was caffeine-free at that late hour. As for the service, our second pasta was as delayed, so the house comped it as well as our two desserts, the other being the delightful rhubarb sorbet. They even gave us the cutest raspberry candle to celebrate my friend's birthday! I loved how unique and wholesome the desserts were- I could see Cafe Lolo becoming known for them. Dessert tasting menu? Will return to try the brunch, especially the buckwheat blintzes. No AI was used to write this review :)

This is a cute new spot in the same building as French Guys. It's very charming with lovely decor and unique glasses and plates. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was incredibly unique but all very good. The tea was so well-made that I might not chance ordering an ice tea anywhere else for fear of disappointment. Their menu is small but mighty and can actually accommodate quite a few dietary restrictions. Also, one of the most important features for us in a brunch, they have a patio that allows dogs! They were also thrilled to see our corgi with us. Would definitely come back for dinner to try the pastas.

    Asparagus and seared spring onions

Absolutely INCREDIBLE. I had been eyeing Cafe Lolo ever since they first opened their doors in the beautiful historic building on Roy, and I finally got a chance to poke my head inside for a friend's birthday dinner. It was everything I had hoped for and more, with the most comforting and cozy ambiance (enhanced by the historical building and murals), warm and friendly staff, and delicious food. We had the honor of being served by Leah, one of the three co-founders, and it was such a treat. She (and everyone else on the team) was super friendly and excited to answer all our questions about the menu and what goes into running such a phenomenal eatery. And the food was genuinely jaw-dropping. Every item highlighted fresh, local, seasonal produce in a really fun and unique way. We started with the asparagus and seared spring onions, which was super refreshing. It was served slightly cold, as if the asparagus had been blanched super quickly and then dunked in an ice bath, so it was the perfect first bite after a hot(ish...for Seattle) and sunny day outside. It was very lightly cooked so the asparagus still had a good crisp and crunch to it, and the spring onions offered a great punch of flavor. It was also topped with a bit of sunflower seed hummus (delicious and nutty), preserved lemon (a nice pop of acid and fruitiness, with just a slight hint of funk), and dukkah (great crunch and herby-ness), which all came together to create a really well-balanced dish across temperature, texture, and flavor. Our next dish was the baby bok choy and mushrooms, which was equally delicious. The bok choy was perfectly cooked, maintaining the right amount of crunch and vibrant green color, while still having a good, wilted leafy bit. The mushrooms were perfectly seared and had a wonderful umami flavor, and I loved how the fresh, crisp veggies contrasted against the warmly spiced, soft curried lentils on the bottom. The pickled ramps gave a nice pop of acidity, and the sunchoke chips another nice crunchy texture. We diverged a bit on our mains. She got the only meat-forward dish on the menu, the orecchiette with beef ragu, while I opted for the more veggie-centric fiorentini with green garlic and nettle pesto. It was one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had. First of all, fiorentini is just such a fun shape and it's perfect for picking up all the little bits of sauce and flavor. You could absolutely tell that it was freshly made and it was cooked to a perfect al dente. The pesto was deliciously herby and nutty, and it paired wonderfully with the leeks (which were cooked down to almost a paste and offered such a great pop of flavor) and potatoes. The pickled fiddlehead ferns were a fun surprise, but they provided such a wonderful hit of acidity and freshness against an otherwise pretty heavy pasta dish. Even though we were absolutely stuffed from our veggies and mains, we couldn't end the meal without taking a look at the dessert menu. We decided to get their cornmeal custard and wheat cake, and Cafe Lolo very kindly added on the rye and brownie ice cream to celebrate my friend's birthday. Every single dessert was incredible, with the perfect balance of textures and flavors -- none were overly sweet, and each had a mix of crunchy and soft textures. Each dish also highlighted a whole grain and vegetable, so it felt just _slightly_ healthier to sample the entire dessert menu. The ice cream was a hit, and the crunch from the candied hazelnut and slight bitterness from the coffee sauce took the scoop to the next level. The custard was smooth and creamy, and it contrasted beautifully against the sweet and sour poached rhubarb and crunchy oat cookie. The wheat cake had creaminess from the parsnip whip, saltiness from the caramel, and texture from the parsnip chips. The cake itself was quite dense, so I'd recommend this one if you want a more substantive dessert. All in all, outstanding! I can't wait to come back to try the next season's menu or check out their brunch / lunch!

I want to eat lunch here every day. Everyone is so nice. The oolong tea is fresh and made right and hardly anyone makes it right at restaurants. Sit outside on a nice day.

great addition to the Capitol Hill neighborhood! the building itself is a historical gem and adds so much to the overall ambiance. every single person we interacted with on the staff was so kind and willing to answer all of our questions. I love that everything they use is locally sourced, and the prices are incredibly reasonable for a farm-to-table dinner. we came for dinner and tried all three pastas - all were delicious. if I had to choose a favorite, it would be the pesto lumache. All of the dishes are very grain forward and have a great earthy feel to them. You really can taste how fresh everything is. Finished off with both desserts and all left happy and full!

Savory Soft Wheat Porridge w/ veggies & ferments - we added the egg OMG YUM

LOVE THIS PLACE. A little golden whole food magic happening at the New Cafe Lolo at 806 Roy Street in the Loveless Building. We did brunch today & the food was ultra comforting + beautifully thoughtful (and nicely priced). THE ROOM, food & crew - wow. Whole grains, ferments, savory sauces - with full coffee & some low abv cocktails. Cozy cafe by day - bustling golden room for dinner.... plus a great grab & go with pickles, pasta kits, sauces & wine. Cafe Lolo is the latest caretaker of the glorious 1930 Vladimir Shkurkin murals in the space. Truly a jewel box.

As a nice surprise, he even treated us to complimentary turon, which was such a thoughtful gesture and a perfect way to end the meal. It's little moments like that that make a restaurant stand out. Great food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere make Ludi's an easy recommendation for anyone visiting downtown Seattle. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

Ambiance is homey and comfy, with photos all over the walls and a lively atmosphere. The owner himself came to chat with us about the food. We saw him walking around and being present with plenty of customers and that added a very special touch. he even gave us a magnet souvenir to take home. We love the BLT salad, this time the shredded beat and carrot salad was excellent, and so was the butter lettuce salad w/ housemade Green Goddess dressing. The soups are insane, but this time we tried the smoked sablefish with an unreal horseradish cream and beets. For entrees, we ordered the pork w/ nectarines (out of this world), moussaka and halibut. We came in around 1:45pmish and it wasn't crowded. They had an amazing selection of pastries, though I didn't try any.
