Fries - perfectly soft on inside, crispy outside
Frances B.

This unassuming strip mall place has good gyros and is cuter inside than the outside appears. It's order at the counter and then the old style hard booths. But Tiffany lamps dot the ceiling , making it feel like an old school Chicago joint. I placed my order easily online and when I arrived, they were just packing it up. The manager (owner?) immediately greeted me when I entered and asked for my name for the order. He was quite friendly in an efficient sort of way. Within a minute, he was double checking the order against what had been packed, reading it off to me. Everything was well packed so the gyros pita was on a plate, covered with tinfoil, so it was still warm when I got home. The fries were in a paper bag so they didn't get soggy. And the baklava was in a separate plastic clamshell. The fries were perfect - crispy outside and fluffy inside. Not very salty which worked well with the flavorful gyros so I didn't need to add any salt. The pita was warm and soft. The gyros are the best I've had at this kind of fast food place. A touch greasier than sit down places like Pistaria, but not as greasy as I'd expected. Nicely browned and perfectly seasoned. The onions were crunchy and fresh. Tomatoes - well, I'm picky about tomatoes and tend to only like them in August when they're in season. These were fresh but mealy. It's that time of year and hard to fault Nicks for that. Baklava was a huge piece for the price and shockingly moist. It didn't taste exactly as I expected. A little softer than the flaky perfection I've had elsewhere. Probably not made fresh that day although somehow still quite moist. Lots of honey flavor but I wonder if some other sugar might have been mixed with the honey ? Or maybe just not as fresh. If you have a hankering for baklava, this would work. But otherwise I'd skip it and stick to the fries and gyros.

The place to be!

I highly recommend this place for their exemplary service and food! Jimmy and Chris and Luis are top notch staff! They know how to communicate and treat customers with the utmost respect and always helpful! Two thumbs up!

Clean but older building with a tight parking lot. Extremely friendly people, greeting everyone as they enter and saying goodbye as they leave. Typical menu with burgers, dogs, gyros, Italian Beef, etc. They have an indoor smoker, I'd love to try their ribs someday. Good prices. My gyro was good, piled high and falling off the pita. They even gave me an extra sauce. Five stars, helped in part by their friendliness.

Italian Beef Sandwich / Gyros sandwich

Probably the best Italian beef I've had. You can tell just by looking at the beef that it's soft, tender, freshly sliced. The same goes for the gyro it's not overcooked. It's also not swimming in that tzatziki sauce. You can just taste the honesty of the meats. Plus the old I'm assuming Greek guys running the show all came out of central casting.

So delicious!! Exactly what you want for gyros, but they also have plenty of other options of genuine Chicago style foods. The staff were all friendly and it wasn't a long wait. It's definitely vintage diner style and there was plenty of seating. I'd recommend this place to anyone going there!

Lunch!!!!

Hands down Nick's has the best gyros I have ever had...this includes some memories of hitting Greektown back in the late 80's early 90's. The portions are spot on, the platter with an extra pita is enough for 2 people to share or...not! I don't work in the area much anymore but anytime I need to go back I stop in for lunch at Nick's. Do your tastebuds a flavor and swing on by and get a gyro sammich.

A ChiTown Flavor snappin at Nick's Drive-In! I have to say, my taste buds went on a trip to Flavor Town at Nick's Drive-In in Niles, IL! This hidden gem truly serves up some scrumptious Chicago-style grub that'll leave you craving for more! We indulged ourselves in their mouth-watering menu: 2 gyro sandwiches , a classic chili dog , a warm and crispy pizza puff , and some golden, crispy fries . Talk about a feast for the senses! We barely had time to marvel at the retro vibe of this drive-in, when, BOOM , in just about two minutes, our order was ready! That's what I call efficiency! The staff? Oh, they were the cherry on top ! Super friendly and nice, making us feel right at home! And, oh, the pizza puff! I haven't had one in years - they're practically extinct in Rhode Island! So biting into that warm, cheesy goodness really took me on a nostalgia trip! In conclusion, if you're craving a delicious, Chicago-style bite and friendly service, Nick's Drive-In is THE place to go! P.S. Dear Nick's Drive-In, any chance of opening a branch in Rhode Island?

We arrived early for our reservation and were taken right in. We ordered two appetizers, the bacon & potato croquettes and the corn bread in the iron skillet. They were both very good. I had the Prime Rib, it was flavorful and brought out exactly how I wanted it--rare. My daughter had the rotisserie chicken and was very pleased with her meal. My wife had the Pike Place Salmon with the smashed cucumbers. She would order it again. The skillet cookie we ordered to share for dessert was very undercooked. It was just a smidgeon over raw dough. While it had the ice cream, it didn't have the caramel the menu advertised. A few more minutes in the oven would have solved the raw dough issue The server was obviously new and had some missteps. He was late to greet the table in a half full restaurant. The drinks had a late arrival-after the appetizers had arrived and never came back to check on the table. It also took an inordinate amount of time to find him to get the check then having him return with the receipt. The restaurant was very clean and tidy, extra points given for having immaculate restrooms. Some suggestions: Perhaps another potato option(s) besides mashed or fries. A loaded baked potato would have been perfect with my Prime Rib. Have another soup(s) offered on the menu besides the soup du jour.

Also, no birthday candles on hand?! Put kids hot hot food directly in front of them bc the table was full of menus. Why not help clear the table and make some room? Had to ask for extra plates multiple times for our massive, to share desert. The kicker. Charged us for kids meals when they are free before 6. When we asked they removed from bill. But this is the second time this has happened here. I am beginning to think the policy is to charge unless the patron brings it up. Sad because the atmosphere here is lovely.

I also got to try their seasonal blood orange margarita, which was also delicious! We had the flautas appetizer and for my entree, I ordered the chorizo taco and the pork belly taco. I didn't even make it to the pork belly taco because I was full off the flauta and chorizo taco lol. The hot sauces that they bring to your table in the squirt bottles were bomb dot com!! Spicy enough for some "flava" but not burn your bottle hole spicy. Overall, I highly recommend this establishment for the vibes (I requested they play Bad Bunny and they obliged- zero questions asked and no pushback) and the food! If you're ever having group get together or small party, this place would be great! They also have brunch on the weekends which I will bring some moms back for, for some "Momosa" Dates!
