This place is great! And I've passed it a million times unnoticed. We received a gift certificate to Nick's Grill from some friends. They claimed it is their favorite place in Kirkland, so we decided to give it a try pronto. My husband and I shared a grande steak burrito with medium spice. It was delicious. It was piping hot, cheesy, the tortilla was a little crisp and the steak/sauce was just right. The grande was HUGE. I got a salad and it had an interesting pesto-y, minty dressing on it. And right when we were leaving, we saw they had a really yummy burger, made out of some amazing-sounding ingredients. Will try that the next time we stop in since we have some left over $ on our gift certificate. Reasonable prices. The guy that helped us, not sure if he is Nick, was super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed dining here tonight but I think the many 5 stars seem to be a bit high. Yelp helped me find this tiny hole in the wall place that I drove by everyday without considering trying it out. The service is very friendly but a bit slow since it is a small operation. The food is very good, flavorful, and big portions but I felt that the price was a bit high - after adding avocado and sour cream to a grande burrito you are looking at about 15 bucks (of course a grande is big enough for 2). I'll probably be back pretty soon to try the steak sandwich that I saw most of the other customers ordering. Overall I'm glad Yelp steered me toward this place but it is most certainly not the best restaurant in Kirkland like it is ranked currently. read more

This is a nostalgic, 50's diner inspired, hole-in-the-wall spot that does a simple menu, but does it well. It's easy to miss this place on the side of a 7-Eleven and at the tail end of an older strip mall. The owner himself is usually working, and is more than willing than to chop it up with you if you're sitting at the counter. The owner and the rest of the staff have great customer service. I've had the burritos and they're good, but what keeps me coming back is the chicken sandwich. It's hot, covered in melted cheese, messy, and delicious. They use good fresh chunks of chicken. I love the honey mustard sauce on it and the tapitio on the tables balances great with the sweetness of the sauce. I usually rock with the small green salad and potato salad for my sides. The potato salad tastes home made along with the dressing for the salad. The price of admission here is you will need to wash your hands after your meal, but it is worth it. read more

Consider this a 3-1/2 star review (Yelp, I so wish you did half stars!!!) Nick's was not what I expected at all when I walked in. A small counter a few stools and a place of complete funkiness. A faux 80's boom box playing funk, soul, and then Somewhere Over the Rainbow. A steady clientele of regulars ordering tasty sandwiches and burritos. I ordered a grande chicken burrito, full of juicy chicken meat, fantastic black beans, that weren't soak in their own liquid turning my meal into a gooey mess, and basamati rice. I asked for it, "make it hurt" spicy and it didn't disappoint. The huge portion of avocado added cooled the fire, and the outside of the thick tortilla was grilled to warm pillow inside, crunchy outside perfect. Yes - I'm a fan - but wait - three stars, what gives? Service - was great and the host was entertaining. My burrito with a bottle of Diet Coke and a reasonable tip $18.50. YIKES! Definitely better than the chain competition (Taco del Mar) and a great big portion - but still - YIKES! It's a fun place, .it's great food, it's fresh food, there is something unique about the burritos - and I seem to remember the avocado was a $2.75 add on. The burritos were cooking flat on the grill and looked incredible, but I opted for the chicken sandwich which initially attracted me. It was really unique and absolutely loaded with flavor from the Thousand Island / honey mustard sauce. By the second half of the sandwich my taste buds were protesting the strong flavors a bit. But hey, too many chicken sandwiches are boring to complain about excessive flavor :) I think the price was around $8, which was a tad surprising given the rather humble environment. But the food quality is high. What made this place really shine was the guy behind the counter. He was incredibly welcoming and just made me feel glad to be there. And he must have great taste because he had Goonies playing on the TV, which elevated my experience into something magical. The owner KiKi always trys to spend time in conversation with everyone who comes in even if just for a moment. Given the fun personality and energy, I would guess he's a vital part of the establishment! The place is very small. If you blinked while driving by, you will miss it. There are 3 tables that seat 4 and counter seating which appeared to seat about 6. My family of 6 couldn't comfortably eat there. I ordered the regular steak burrito ($9). The burrito was very tasty but I wish it had more steak. A lot more! I added sour cream and guacamole for an extra ($2.50). No surprise there. The tortilla was grilled so it had a surprising crisp to it. Although the cheese wasn't melted, the ingredients were very fresh. I ate the whole thing. Overall, it was ok. It was a little messy (not folded on the bottom so much), but had a great flavor and a nice little kick of spiciness to it. For those wanting more spice, there is Tapatio at each place setting. Jarritos in multiple flavors for sale, as well as other teas and sodas. Small place, and I was lucky to get a seat at the counter, but well worth the trip.
