Italian sandwich and fries
Alaina F.

This place was awesome. Small place Ive overlooked before and decided to try today- and not disappointed; cozy with cool decorations! The owner was the nicest guy ever, so happy and friendly. The sandwich was bomb, fresh , and the bread was toasted but soft. Fries were perfectly crispy, salty and delicious. Went with my co worker and we will be back for sure!

The Chicken Sandwich from Nick's Grill
Will B.

My co-worker suggested Nick's Grill due to the reviews he's read about this restaurant. I was willing to try something new and we were not disappointed. Nick is the owner operator and a one man show. He's very personable and gave us recommendations regarding the best items to order. We both got the chicken sandwich, and in my minds eye, I pictured a McChicken of some sort. Oh boy was I happy to be oh so wrong. This sandwich is beyond my wildest expectations and amazingly delicious. Bring an appetite cause you will need it. The roll was nice and toasted, which adds to the depth of flavor. The Chicken was fresh and tasted like good quality chicken, well seasoned. The cheese is ample and the way it's melted will blow your mind. The sauce is sweet and balanced the sandwich nicely. The aesthetic of this establishment is very eclectic in a cool way, I felt like I'd entered a neighborhood joint from the east coast. A greasy spoon in the best sense of the word. Show Nick's Grill some love. I'm looking forward to trying other menu items soon.

We always love this place for comfort food when the weather got little chilly. You can order in store or online. Parking is complimentary. The ambiance was family friendly. The owner was friendly and efficient. After you place an order in the store, he would call you when it's ready. Give this place a try if you are in the neighborhood. It hit the spot.

Greasy chicken sandwich

I guess I should have read the description better when it didn't just say "melted cheese" but instead said "tons of melted cheese" on the chicken sandwich, but what I was served was inedible. Just... grease soaked. Quite literally the greasiest thing I've ever been served. Bread fully soaked in grease, greasy chicken sliding out of a greasy cheese wrapper, sitting in a puddle of grease in the paper serving container, grease everywhere. And two little slices of tomato. Also, it tasted terrible. I had one bite and wanted no more. My partner got a burrito. It wasn't assembled properly so it didn't hold together; it was like they put all the toppings from edge to edge, and THEN rolled it. It was falling out all over the place. It was also incredibly bland. Like a step down from Taco del Mar. But at least I could eat it, as it wouldn't have made me sick the way the chicken sandwich would have. I'm all for supporting small businesses, and was super stoked to try this place due to all the good reviews, but sadly this was just not good.

Italian with tots

Wow we have been sleeping on Nick's and we seriously regret it! My husband and I went for a late lunch on a Friday. Super quick and friendly service. I have been searching for a good Italian sub in the PNW, and I finally found it! Their house made dressing really puts it over the top! Served with a ton of tots - perfectly crispy and golden. Highly recommend checking Nick's out. Between the awesome decor, friendly staff, and delicious food. You can't go wrong!

First off, love the retro decor! A mix of 80's and 90's memorabilia. There are about three chairs they each seats 4. And I noticed som barstools to the left of the register. They have a menu that consists of burritos, sandwiches, a customizable burger and various sides. This was my first time here and the cool dude manning the register and grill was super nice! The food is made to order, the veggies are fresh, the burger patty was nice and juicy, and the tots are perfectly cooked. I'd totally come back for that burger but I'd like to try their burritos next time! I'll definitely be back!

Regular Steak Burrito

Went here for the first time for lunch with a buddy. Great spot! The day we were there they were very busy. It still only took 15 minutes to get our food. We sat at the bar and watched the magic happen on the grill. The smells of grilling food were amazing! I had the regular spicy Steak Burrito. It was delicious and exactly the right size for lunch. Great deep flavors and a little bit crispy tortilla. It all comes together for great flavors. Will definitely be going back!

French Fries, Tater Tots

We ordered two steak burritos, one grande & one regular. You can see the difference in the picture. The burritos had too much beans in my opinion. The fries & tater tots were good though.

We got the grande chicken burrito which was delicious and pretty grande. Hard for one person to finish, though not enough for two. While we liked it, it can be a bit hard to handle. We also got the steak sandwich, which I liked even better and a side of fries. The fries weren't my favorite, I prefer when they are cut thicker and more crunchy. I noticed that they cut a little hole in the take out box to let the steam out to avoid making the sandwich bread and fries saggy which is always appreciated.

This is supposed to be a burrito. Ordered to go, pretty sloppy when I opened it up to eat it. Disappointed.

I got the combo - Hawaiian chicken + karaage requesting extra salad instead of rice, as well as a half order of loco moco. It's nice that there is half order as a lot of Hawaiian restaurants tend to be full orders so it is incredibly hard to try a variety of options if you're solo or in a small group. The Hawaiian chicken and karaage both are juicy and delicious. It's great that the combo is the same price as the standard individual options so I got to try more variety without paying extra. I looked at the reviews and opted to remove the rice and get extra salad which was a good move - their chop chop salad is very delicious with a nice balance of dressing, cheese, and ham. I still had some rice from the loco moco, which was sufficient for me. The loco moco is good - I wished the patty was a bit less tough but the gravy and egg make up for it. Overall, great value and great food. I'd be a regular if I didn't live so far from Kirkland (1 hr drive for food can be challenging in busy schedules)

I noticed that most of the ladies who take the order, push for addons/fixin's, while the males listen to the order quietly. For example, my usual order is double baconmaster no lettuce no tomatoes. When I order with a male, he listens, takes the order and I pay, no drama. When a lady takes the order, she usually interrupts me at the "double baconmaster " and asks if I want onions pickles and whatever. So I have to say no, and say "no lettuce no tomatoes". She then asks again to confirm about onions and pickles etc. NOOOOOO I don't want anything more, just listen to what I want!!! Today in particular, this new lady that I never interacted with, did the same thing and made it very difficult and unpleasant. I wish the servers stopped being pushy and learned to just listen. It's probably ok to ask for extras at the end, but let the customer finish the order please. I'll keep my review 5* for now, but it bothers me so much that I might knock it down if this doesn't change, it ruins my experience. Edit 4/25/2026: okay, exactly the day after this review, I went back. A young male server takes the order, today I ordered my usual, but I did not say no lettuce no tomatoes (want the full experience today). He takes the order, smiles and asks "no no lettuce and tomatoes today?". I mean, this is service, he made me feel good and the whole interaction was pleasant and respectful. He didn't ask for anything else. Awesome service.

Each time, something is less satisfying, such as changing the wedges of pickle fries to slices of pickle fries. We have reached the state that we will not return in the future. Location is still cool by the water. The restaurant is an outdoor eatery. For us locals, we don't stay during the wintertime. We get take-out only. Service isn't much of a thing, since we order online and pick up ourselves. The Food: Slip Burger, $12.95, Salmon burger upgrade, $2.50, Pickle Fries upgrade $4.95 - 1 Star Menu: Colby jack cheese, romaine lettuce, tomato, red onion, slip sauce. Toasted & buttered pub bun, served with house seasoned fried potato chips. This order costs $20.40. I have no problem with the cost if the food is good. I was delusional and thought salmon means salmon filet, which is what Tipsy Cow serves, not chopped salmon, ala Trident/Costco salmon patty. As soon as I saw that, I knew I wasn't eating this dinner. I hate salmon patty with a passion. The pickle fries are "ok" with a passing C. I still prefer the original wedge pickle fries that are obviously house made. I am not certain about these. (I made ramen for my dinner.) Aloha Burger, $14.95, Sweet Potato Fries upgrade, $4.95 - 2.5 Stars Menu: Grilled pineapple, white bbq sauce, pepper jack cheese, romaine, red onion, fresh 1/3 lb burger patty on buttered & grilled pub bun. Served with house chips. This order costs $19.90. There isn't anything right or wrong about this meal. It was ok. For some reason, my husband was still hungry after eating his burger plus 3/4 of his sweet potato fries and 3/4 of my pickle fries. He has a healthy appetite but not this much. I will not speculate rather the burger is or is not 1/3 lb. I will simply say he ended up eating my salmon burger, too. He said he doesn't want to order from them either because he wasn't full after his $20 meal (plus some of mine).

My Mom got the Eggs Benedict with fresh dill which she enjoyed even though there was a slight hiccup. The English muffin under the eggs was over toasted and was very difficult to cut with a knife. Shake Shack is your premium fast food chain that serves burgers (meat and plant-based), fries, and…read moreof course, milkshakes. I've visited other Shake Shacks before, but this was my first time visiting their Kirkland location. The Kirkland location is pretty big and has a good amount of indoor seating and outdoor patio seating. It's located across from QFC and the kiddie fountains, and so you can enjoy your burger while watching your kids (or dogs) play in the water in the summer. My family ordered: - VEGGIE SHACK ($9.99 for a single patty, $12.99 for a double patty) - Veggie burger packed with mushrooms, sweet potatoes, carrots, farro, and quinoa, and topped with American cheese, crispy onions, pickles and ShackSauce. This is not your typical Impossible burger or black bean burger, although it has more the texture of the latter. The patty exterior is crispy and the interior is soft and mushy, which complements the crunchy pickles well. It's a little on the sweeter side because of the sweet potato and carrots, but overall a satisfying veggie burger. If it weren't for the fries and shake, I'd probably get a double patty as one patty wasn't satiating enough for lunch. - 'SHROOM BURGER ($9.99) - Crisp-fried portobello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheeses, topped with lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce on a toasted potato bun. This was another unique vegetarian burger as I've never had a mushroom substituted for a patty before, much less, a fried mushroom stuffed with cheese. If you like mozzarella sticks, this is the burger for you! - CHEESEBURGER ($7.99 for a single patty, $10.99 for a double patty, $13.99 for a triple patty) - A made-to-order quarter pound per patty of 100% Angus beef with American cheese, and your choice of toppings on a toasted potato bun. We were a little disappointed by this burger as it doesn't come with topping by default and so it was a pretty plain burger. Apparently you have to ask for the toppings when ordering at the register (which we didn't know) or order via kiosk or online. - FRIES ($4) - enough talk about the burgers, these crinkle cut fries might have been the BEST FRIES we've ever had. They were burning hot right out of the fryer, super crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. They had just the right amount of salt and had a good body to them to, where even the longest strands didn't break. We loved these so much, that we ended up ordering an extra basket after we finished off the first. - VANILLA SHAKE ($6) - House-made vanilla frozen custard with real vanilla. I prefer my shakes on the thicker side, but this didn't quite meet the mark as it was more liquidy than I would've liked (perhaps because it's custard-based). While it supposedly contains real vanilla, there aren't any vanilla bean flecks and so it most likely just uses vanilla extract. It was cold and refreshing, but can't say I'd go out of my way for it. - COFFEE SHAKE ($6) - Dark roast coffee hand-spun with our house-made vanilla frozen custard. The coffee taste was kind of flat and tasted more like a Frappuccino. The lid also wasn't screwed on properly (or had extra liquid that got stuck underneath the lid) and so it spilled everywhere. Service was great and we got our food within 10 minutes after ordering. They bring the food to your table and you bus yourself. The outdoor tables were relatively clean. Overall: 4/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 4/5 for atmosphere
