TERRIBLE service today at Nicky Rotten's. It sure lived up to its name. First, the hostess at the front was straight GARBAGE. My husband and I approached the hostess booth, and her facial expression was one that conveyed a sense of annoyance that we were even there. I'm so sorry that I'm here to eat at your restaurant and that you must greet me and show us where to sit. Well, she didn't even greet us. We GREETED her. Isn't that what she gets paid for? AND we had to literally say we need a table for two... This fool then says that we can sit on the patio if we can find seats. Isn't it also your job to know where open seating is? This girl was a straight idiot. I'm not sure how Nicky Rottens trains their employees, but either she needs a refresher, or they need someone else training their employees. So, we were seated literally right next to the hostess stand, where we had a full hour's worth of time observing her interactions with other diners. She was terrible to everyone. THEN, I had the nerve to order a salad, which customarily comes with dressing. This bro of a busboy brings us our food, and doesn't bring any salad dressing. So I asked him if he could bring me the dressing that should have been brought out in the first place. In a carelessly lazy tone, he says "Yeah, I'll get you some." Never does he come back. So, we ask our waitress. 15min go by, and still NO dressing. I can't exactly eat a dry salad. My husband goes into the restaurant to ask a third person because I'm fuming at this point. And the waitress isn't even trying to get my dressing, she's helping other people. Once she sees my husband, she rushes to grab the dressing. They lost their tip right there. I spoke with Steve, the manager, but he was of no real help...offering a dessert on the house for our trouble. We won't be back. Your ROTTEN service conveyed to us that you aren't really concerned about keeping our business. I have never personally eaten at Nikki Rottens, but my husband went today with some friends. I asked him to bring me home a Caesar salad and the macaroni & cheese. I was really disappointed with the macaroni, I posted a photo of it. It tasted just like box Kraft macaroni. I gave 2 stars because the salad was decent. Pretty sure they're known for their burgers. Well... my first time visiting or eating at Rottens and I must say it was a good experience. I had a Bacon/Avocado Burger, by buddy had the Pizza Burger and my other buddy had the "Stinky" Blue Cheese Burger. The helpings were generous to say the least and the food was great. I've added a pic of my burger to their Yelp page regarding this post, good stuff. They have a full bar and plenty of TV's if you're into sports and football. Conveniently located just outside the Ferry Landing, literally walking distance. Coronado is already a nice place to be but if you're into a sports bar type of atmosphere with great food, I'd put Rottens on your list of stops. read more

4pm on a Fri aft. - restaurant 25% full. Hostess and waitress were in "don't really care or want to be bothered" mode. Took 10 mins for a waitress to show up after taking our seats. Took 45 mins. for burgers to show up after placing our orders. Pros: french fries were plentiful and good. Parking meter gives you an hour for a quarter. Cons: ordered water and iced tea with extra ice and lemon to start. The ice tea showed up lacking ice and yet tasting watered down, no extra lemon and the waitress asked if we wanted water. Hamburger and fries were $12. For $12, I expect the burger to outrageously rock. It didn't. It was thick and cooked properly, but that's really all I can say for it. Sauce was ho-hum. I just wasn't a fan of the kaiser or egg roll bun either. If you're reading these reviews to see if you think you might like to try this place's burgers, for comparative purposes - I like burgers at Burger Lounge, Boll Weevil & In & Out, all which cut across a spectrum of styles and types. A friend and I were recently in San Diego. San Diego is one of my favorite spots. The beach. The beautiful women. The laid back and casual attitude. (Even when you're the only Raider fans in the bar when Oakland is playing the Chargers!!!) I digress. When there, we decide to hit Coronado. We stumbled into Nicky Rottens. What a find! Great place to watch football or any game at that. The atmosphere here is down to earth with a mixture of young and old. The patio is great to bring your fur baby. The burgers are awesome and pretty feeling. Bloody Marys are good but need a little more liquor kick if you know what i mean. I perfer this Nicky Rottens over the other San Diego locations. This place is nothing above average.. Came here to watch a game, and due to its proximity and decent reviews, it seemed to be a good choice. The atmosphere is nice, way more upscale than your average sports bar... But then we realized that comes with the price. Pretty much everything on their menu is $11.95... Chicken fingers and fries, every burger, every sandwich, and salads are pricier than that! Honestly, I didn't get a burger, but the other 5 I was with did, they all devoured theirs... But no one was blown away. Fries come with the burger and for an extra charge you can get tots, sweet potato, or garlic fries and such... I tried some garlic fries, and they crushed my excitement:(. Our server was nice, but again nothing above average! Great place for watching sports on TVs wall to wall in a swanky sports bar atmosphere, but you're also paying for it in the food. We had a party of 8. When we were going to be seated by the restroom, we asked for another table and were told it was for another party. So we asked for the bar tops and were told they weren't opening that section. So we were seated at the first table we were told we couldn't have. Anyway, service was pretty bad. It was slow and our orders weren't right. Kids burger was a slider - pretty tiny. My daughter also asked for ranch - twice - and didn't get that. It was something we couldn't identify. One burger was supposed to have tomato and didn't; another without and came with. Taco shells were deep fried we think because you couldn't even chew them. And when we asked for more of the sauce that came on the tacos, the chefs told our waitress they didn't know whether it was tartar sauce or ranch. What?? Then who made it?? We used to love this place for great burgers but hadn't been here in a year or more. We came for Father's Day when my husband wanted a good burger and we were on Coronado. Won't be back and recommend finding a different restaurant if you're looking for somewhere good to eat. Service was lacking and food was so-so. Two of the burgers we ordered were undercooked, we didn't get the correct order and our server took forever on top of not being very friendly. My sister ate hers even though it wasn't correct and by the time my burger that was fixed came out, everyone else was done eating and my husband was leaving to take the kids home. We're very patient about that sort of thing typically especially if service explains it. In this case the sever was taking so long I took out my card to be ready to pay and when we got it back we realized we'd also been over charged for things we never got. Not worth hassling with the $5 overcharge but especially after the order being wrong it was disappointing. In addition they need to educate their hostesses about service dogs. I was rather insulted when we walked in at 10:45am and we were given a very limited choice of seats because "we might get busy, and we need to save the bigger tables for larger parties.". I heard the young hostess give the same spiel to other guests who came in shortly after we did. An hour later, as we were walking out, the tables we were refused had been given to parties of 1 or 2 people. We were a party of 2 as well and had been made to sit at a tiny square 4 top instead of the nicer, larger rectangular 4 top tables that provided a better view of the football game. As for the food, my hot pastrami sandwich was good, whereas my husband's buffalo wings were over cooked, and the chili cheese fries, advertised on the menu as "hand cut" were clearly Stealth fries topped with a cheese sauce instead of melted cheese. Nick's is a great place to watch the game. What game? Any game! They have at least 20 flat screen TV's and they're perfectly located so that where ever you sit, you can watch at least 7 of them. My wife and I went on a Sunday and watched the afternoon games. We order the lettuce wraps and got bored with them about half way thru. We didn't sample the whole menu but the lackluster lettuce wraps may have just been enough to keep us away for awhile. The beer and wine was as good as any place on Orange and the service was average. We prefer Firehouse or CB. The one thing NIcky ranks the highest on is their assortment of televisons. I went to Nicky Rottens in Coronado on a Monday night with some friends for dinner. Nice atmosphere, good burgers and beer. Slow service and not much parking available. They have a bunch of TVs, it would be a great place to watch the game, except some of their tables have cowhide benches which are very scratchy and not comfortable. Overall, Nicky Rottens is just an average place- nothing special. We had a good dinner but next time we'll be trying somewhere else. read more

I know nobody will believe this but I ordered a Burger from here through post mates and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had and it was in you been hot. I can't imagine how good it would have been if I had eaten it there. I was not drunk. I went on a Monday night, in the middle of happy hour. The restaurant itself wasn't too crowded when we got there, but we ended up taking two of the last seats at the bar. At first our service was good, but then the restaurant filled and it would take 20 minutes to get the bartenders attention anytime we needed anything. He seemed to be the only bartender working, and trying to serve the full bar plus handle all the drink tickets in the well seemed to overwhelm him. He was nice enough, but two separate people sat down in the empty seat next to me and left without ever being acknowledged. Food wise, it was delicious. I ordered the pulled pork sliders with the intent of having leftovers, but I devoured them. Between the beer and the food, I left with that feeling of regret mixed with pure satisfaction of having eaten (so much of) something so good. Nicky Rottens is basically a slightly more upscale sports bar with much better service - a place where a guy can feel comfortable watching the gazillion different sports on the many flat screens and a girl can appreciate the real table service and clean bathrooms. My boyfriend and I came here for a casual lunch after hanging out at the beach one weekend. There is a small outdoor seating area on the sidewalk, but they do not allow alcohol outdoors... which was a shame because it was such a gorgeous day! We shared a bruschetta burger with tater tots and it was more than enough food for the both of us - the burgers are seriously huge here! We saw most other tables leave with leftovers boxed up. Any of the burgers can be made vegetarian, but they only serve Boca burgers - not homemade patties. I was a little hesitant about this because I am not the biggest fan of Boca, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well our burger turned out. The rest of the ingredients were so fresh and tasty that the frozen mass-produced vegetarian patty didn't bother me at all. While tater tots are probably one of my favorite things in the world (I used to be famous for drunk cooking tater tots for all my friends in college!), I thought the side order with our burger was a little too greasy and perhaps not worth the extra $2. So definitely order a burger here (and perhaps share one with a loved one), but stick with the regular fries. read more

We went here for a late lunch on Sunday and it was a pretty good meal. I had the regular burger, with cheddar cheese and bacon. I skipped the lettuce because I don't like shredded lettuce on burgers, only a leaf of lettuce. My husband also had a burger. My burger was cooked to my liking (medium) and still very juicy. Why the 3 stars? Three reasons. First, I thought the fries were very marginal (including the garlic tater tots). Second, the bacon on my burger was unevenly cooked. Some pieces were perfectly crispy, while one piece was very slimy and under-cooked. It also was an extremely fatty piece of bacon. This is less noticeable if it is crispy, but not when it is under-cooked.The other reason is as a mom, I get annoyed when restaurants don't have a diaper changing station in the restroom - especially considering there were 4 diaper age children in the restaurant at the same time as us! read more
