And nobody and I mean Nobody is going to stop me! Yeah, that was me and my mindset when I was out at the Beverly Center back in August. Hey! It was lunch. I was hungry. & Nicolas Eatery was there to handle all my needs. And just like Napoleon Bonaparte would have done... I strolled in, I walked straight to the bar top, sat down, placed my napkin in my lap, ordered a burger, a side of fries and of course L.A's FINEST tap water. And just like that, instead of following trends... I was setting them! So what did I get you ask?? Le Beverly Burger of course!! This alongside their perfectly fried French fries which you know I dipped in Ketchup... Yes, I know, so American of me! =) Sadly, my only mistake I made on this day... I should have ordered my favorite French Beer, 1664 Kronenbourg.... Damn! But Lance, this Mall is so crazy, where the heck do I go?? Nicolas Eatery is located on Level 6, or "six" in French (Fun Fact: spelled the same, sounds totally different) and trust, my French is No Good! If you're able to snag a window seat, you will get a clear view of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign in the distance. Of course I went with the Burger, but trust, this place has more than just French Fries. -French Baguette with Butter -French Onion Soup -French Omelette But if want to drink like the French do... You know they've got a little vin (wine) or you can go with the classic French 75 cocktail. So, to this ai say: Be like the French. Eat like the French. Drink... Like the French and come start your own La Révolution! But instead of storming Bastille, storm Beverly Center and demand your freedom to order whatever the hell you choose from Nicolas Eatery! Nicholas Eatery is a small bistro located in the Beverly Center offering fantastic French fare at a fair price. The restaurant is billed as French-Vietnamese and previously offered pho and related fare but did not have these options on our visit. Our family came on a Saturday evening after an afternoon in the mall. I got the Ahi Tuna burger ($18), a substantial slab of Ahi Tuna steak on a bun with a wasabi mayo and paired with perfectly crispy, well salted frites ($5). We also got the French lobster roll ($26) a decent, but not groundbreaking, sandwich with a spicy sauce. One of our children got the tomato soup ($10) which was phenomenal - creamy and tomatoey - and paired well with grilled cheese. The cafe was clean and positioned with a great view; service was good too, with the waitress making suggestions and accommodating our children's special requests. Prices, as listed above, were excellent for the quality and quantity of food provided in an otherwise quite expensive area. More Parisien then Indochine, Nicholas deserves the unusually high rating it commands for the area. We had a subpar experience at Nicolas Eatery. The food itself was alright. Their ice coffee though, was amazing. Customer service was excellent, and we felt very well taken care of. They are located on the 1st floor of the Beverly Center. The menu has a lot of different options for everyone. I would skip out on the lobster roll; as it wasn't really all that great. We went shopping at Beverly Center Mall on Sunday and had lunch at Nicolas Eatery, since it's located inside the mall. The restaurant is on Level 6, near Bloomingdale's Court, and offers a great view of Hollywood and DTLA. We tried the Caesar Salad with added Salmon ($16 + $14), which was great! I loved the salmon--it wasn't salty at all and was very tasty. The Tuna Burger with added Fries ($17 + $5) was also great; the tuna was fresh, and the fries were delicious. The Thuy's Pho with Beef ($24) was okay for me, as the broth was a bit too salty for my taste. The Crème Brûlée ($12) was amazing! We absolutely loved it--it was so good and a must-try! Came in after the Apple Store. This place is in the 6th floor near Bloomingdale's. Great view from the window side . Clear eve can see all the way to downtown. Literally no one else here . For the price point, Iwas anticipating something kinda good. Well, I guess it was fine. Today I had the seafood pasta and there were so many things wrong with it. First, the portion was tiny! If a seafood pasta is going to cost $29, it needs to be w larger. There was an overcooked sliver of salmon laid on top of salty pesto noodles and three overcooked shrimp. The shrimp was so overbook the burnt skin was inedible. I hoped that dessert would make up for the meal, but all they had was a cookie and chocolate croissant, which was over microwaved so the chocolate was overcooked. The service was friendly. Their service, our waiter took care of us so well and answered all of our questions. The food was fantastic. Came in for some stuff to go since it had good reviews and I was visiting a family member at cedars sinai. Service was good even though I could tell the waiter was stretched thin. He seemed to be the only one serving and bartending but he hustled and I respect it. I ordered the lobster roll, tuna burger and salmon. For $100 the food was meh. I had the salmon, it was ok a little overcooked imo and the smallest portion of spinach that was so salty I needed water to wash it down. My friend said his tuna burger was just ok. My mom did love her lobster roll but she's also very easily impressed LOL. Had some of her fries and they were luke warm. Probably wouldn't eat here again but it's a cute spot to maybe hang and get some drinks. read more

However, when I paid for my bill of $33.14 by C/C. I left a cash tip of $8 dollars for Nathan. When I received my bank statement the amount was $40.43 ? I don't understand why there is a $7.29 discrepancy. So, I tried to call the restaurant phone number (424) 644-0614 and it was out of service :( I went on line to the website to the contact link and none responded after doing this twice. Phenomenal French Onion soup. I tried both white wines by the glass and they were both beautiful examples of French wine, the only Chardonnay I can drink! Service was warm and attentive and the had Portlandia playing on the tv at the bar, so I was a happy camper and left satisfied and ready to shop and stroll. read more

I would give Nicolas Eatery a five star review even though the overall menu and food do not constitute a really high level culinary grade. The environment, the vibe, the service, and total experience certainly make up for it. The food is actually quite good also. I was in the area for a wedding and needed to find a restaurant close by for a Saturday lunch with two other ladies who were also from out of town. Yelp was really helpful for finding good places in unfamiliar areas. We had a lot to catch up and ended up staying for a long time (about two and a half hours) in the restaurant. It has a lot of natural sunlight, and feels very cozy, comfortable, and welcoming. They also have a rooftop patio if outdoor dining is preferred. Two of us ordered their lobster roll which came with French fries, and it was really good. I especially enjoyed the lightly toasted warm brioche. There was a generous amount of lobster which was fresh and tasty. The fried chicken sandwich that my friend had also looked delicious. Service was very attentive and warm. Water was constantly being filled and we were not rushed even though we stayed for a long time (the restaurant got busier as we sat but no one was waiting for a table). Today was the first time I have eaten at Nicola's Eatery and I really enjoyed everything about it. I was able to seat myself and was promptly greeted by a cheerful lady who brought Water and a Menu with her. I love the ambiance and had a seat next to the window which has a sweeping view of the Los Angeles skyline. On the other side you can get your people-watching in by gazing out towards the mall. I ordered the Salmon and it was grilled to perfection with spices. It was topped with a mild mustard sauce and included really good Broccolini and Mashed Potatoes. I ordered a Croissant with Butter for my Side of Bread. The entire meal was fantastic and the service was attentive without being intrusive. I recommend that everyone go to Nicolas Eatery. It's worth the trip even if you don't have any shopping to do. read more

Everything came out piping hot, the chicken was juicy and flavorful and the fries were PERFECT. My husband had a doctor's appointment in the area and had to grab a quick bite. This place was recommended. Wish we did not have to rush through lunch. As always being small eaters we shared The Beverly Burger. I also had a cappuccino. The burger was huge and you have to open your mouth pretty wide . We've never had a burger with Pastrami before. The lobster roll has been discontinued, but they have an amazing crispy chicken sandwich that I ordered, with fries. It was magnificent. It is a huge sandwich and came with so many fries. The pickles are so crisp and fresh. They clearly make them in-house. Such a nice addition to the sandwich. The service was far superior, too. The seating is cozy yet comfortable, with an inviting ambience full of pleasant energy and a welcoming atmosphere. Floral arrangements filled with tulips and roses adorn the bar, kitchen, and tables, adding to the already lovely decor. The service we received by Sebastian was fantastic, and his recommendations did not disappoint. We started with an exquisite potato/leek soup and enjoyed it alongside the refreshing goat cheese salad. Came here yesterday for the first time and got great service and the food was pretty great too. Luckily I came doing happy which partially consisently of being able to get a American traditionally styled burger for $10. I got two and they were either best burgers I've ever had or tie for the best one I've ever had. I also ordered a side of fries and the Hollywood sandwhich, I've ate a few fries and they tasted pretty good and will be finishing them along with the Hollywood today. Ordered the roasted chicken as recommend by the waitress. I'd give it a 4/5. Some parts of the chicken (inside) tasted dry. The mashed potatoes were creamy and buttery. Overall, not bad but not amazing either. Overpriced but we are in WeHo, but nice thing is Cedars employees get a discount, so thankful for that and it made it reasonable. Presentation was beautiful. Better than decent dining experience at this French-Vietnamese inspired restaurant at a price that doesn't break the bank. The Tuna Burger ($17.00) came with a generously portioned tuna steak cooked medium rare, artichoke heart, tomato, greens, olive tapenade served in a bun. Thuy's Pho ($20.00) was prepared with rice noodles, Thai basil, chili, lime, cilantro with optional beef. Both entrees were prepared with fresh, good quality ingredients. You know how you wander into a charming restaurant and get to enjoy unhurried service and the company of your guests at the same time? Well, this was not one of those places for me. I called ahead around 5pm on a Sunday night and the host assured me that they were not busy and it would be no trouble to accommodate my party of 3. It seemed to be smooth sailing when we arrived not too long thereafter as it was very quiet in the dining room with one other table of two occupied. But as soon as we were seated, it seemed as if I was being hurried to order. I hadn't even really looked at the menu, washed my hands, thought about wine, etc. After all, I was expecting a little more of a relaxed pace with this being a French restaurant. After delaying with a glass of wine (2016 Couteline-Merville Bourdeaux @ $20 per glass and delicious!), we finally decided on some starters: French onion soup ($14), Escargot de Bourgogne ($18), cheese and charcuterie ($28) and the country bread and house made butter ($10). All classic French fare and done well. The starters were dropped to the table at the same time with some urgency it seemed. Perhaps this is why our attentive, if not friendly, server seemed to be rushing me which was a common theme in our evening. Even as we were into our starters, we were asked a number of times if we were ready to order our entrees. Finally, I gave in and put our orders in. Once we were done with our starters, our table was cleared, crumbs evacuated and then our mains were dropped at the same time. Geez. I felt like our check was coming at any moment with the obligatory, "This is here for you whenever you're ready, no rush!" Steak frites ($38) and Moule frites ($28) again standard French fare and done well. No complaints about the food at all. We ordered well but can't quite understand what we did wrong if anything to be hurried along. We were dressed as "beachy" as everyone else and ordered about as much if not more food and drink as everyone else. (The aforementioned party that was next to us nursed waters, split a starter once another 2 people arrived, took a photo and held their table of 2 which became 4 for way longer than we were there!) Dessert sounded too good to pass up and ended with crème brûlée ($12), chocolate torte ($12) and the berry cobbler ($12). All of them were great and all devoured like everything else we ordered from the menu. Again, the food here is the star. I am still scratching my head about what it is I walked into here that made what I assumed was going to be a relaxed dinner seemed like a rushed production from start to finish. The assortment was varied enough for everyone, and paired well with the crisp white wine. I've been wanting to try this place since it opened. I'm just sorry I waited so long! I brought my friend, the illustrious Dr. Willa Olsen, for a pau hana, aloha Friday dinner. What a great way to end the work week. First and foremost let me say that the service was fantastic. Everyone was super kind and extremely helpful. Second, let's talk food. I am beyond taken by this little place in the middle of Malibu. The two appetizers we ordered were delicious. Definitely order bread with your escargot so you can sop up every last bit of that olive oil, butter, garlic and parsley goo. Also, the bread is a fantastic vehicle to shuttle the mashed up avocado, caramelized onion, pine nuts, olive and shrimp appetizer into your pie hole as well. For dinner we ordered the steak frite (the fries were nice and crispy, just the way I like them) and Washington State Arctic char. So good. So so good. We stopped here for lunch after visiting the Getty Villa. It's very conveniently located nearby, in a small shopping center. Nicolas Eatery definitely punches above its weight - the menu items are deceptively simple, but so well executed. All of us were impressed with the wine selection, the food and the service. This was my first visit for a late lunch with my cousin although I've admittedly done some drive-bys admiring the exterior aesthetic. Lol. Located adjacent to a (or 2?) shopping malls with ample parking, you can't miss it on PCH due to the wood and glass exterior. Although it is not listed on their website or on menus in the restaurant, they do have espresso-based coffee so I promptly ordered a latte and Deviled Eggs appetizer while I waited. The latte was cute with its leafy design and the eggs were uniquely delicious, the capers were a tasty touch. For lunch, I ordered the French Boursin Omelet (which came with fingerling potatoes) and my cousin ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich (which came with fries) and a lemonade. We agreed, all were tasty and satisfying and we were both full at the end. French cuisine, elevated with a California influence, light and pleasing to the palate is how I would describe the food overall.
