Just looked over old, old reviews. I said that? Well, that's just wrong. Especially for the great dinner Linda and I had today. So let's bury that years old review. Wife had lasagna. And it was hot and delicious. I had the Veal Calabrese. Which is veal breaded, and served atop greens with prosciutto on top of that, then provolone or mozzarella baked on. Finished with sauce, and I have always really liked the sauce at Nicolinni's. It's not acid, not sweet, has a great, rich, taste. Perfection on a plate. Never had this before, always getting parm or Marsala. That prosciutto really adds flavor. The bread was excellent, as it always is. Served with the garlic infused dipping oil. And the bowl of salad. That one size fits all dressing that I love the heck out of. This meal was fives across the board. Speaking of which, the service was outstanding as well. I've never noticed how great the servers here are. Today, I did. Great ####### job is all I can say about the service. I don't take things for granted these days. Well, try not to anyway. So here it is. Nicolinni's has great food, period. The service is ALWAYS great, period. People come from all over specifically for the salad and the bread. Just order your meal, and next time I'm just going to tell them to bring us the bread and salad. And pack the rest for the trip home. That bread and oil and salad are that good. And, if you remember Taxi's pizza, this place is the place for the single greatest potato and greens pizza on the planet. And it's not hyperbole if it's the truth. I live in New Castle. Love Nicolinni's Restaurante! I've dined here several times and never had a meal that was less than excellent. Decor hints at old world Italy. Service is always good. The food is outstanding. When you are seated and look at the extensive menu it will be difficult to make a selection as it is all SO good. The pasta dishes are delicious as are the steaks, chicken and seafood. You'll be given a basket of their fresh baked bread and a small plate of olive oil and herbs. Sprinkle a little cheese on that plate... it's tasty to dip your bread into. On this trip for lunch, I got the Whitefish Francaise. It was wonderful, and highly recommended. read more

Nice place where we met a couple for a Saturday dinner. Wait time was about fifteen minutes. They are currently not taking reservations. The interior was okay. Nothing great to look at but everything was clean. The bar area was closed but drinks were available. The ladies hot cosmos and enjoyed them. The guys got Stella's. The food was quite good. The table split a calamari app which had a tasty wine sauce and was perfectly cooked. The table was served a family style salad with cold plates (we liked that touch), very nice citrusy sweet dressing. Main courses. The gnome got a vodka sauce penne dish that she loved. I had the chicken Calabrese (braided chicken topped with prosciutto) with greens and pasta. Really good. Chicken was tender and greens spicy. My pasta choice was gnocchi with Alfredo sauce. Our experience was wonderful. The food was fantastic. They were busy on this Thursday night and we were taken care of quickly and efficiently. Since we did not have a reservation, we waited at the bar 30 minutes for our table. The bar area is very nice with some plush, cushioned chairs and a fireplace. The bartender was very friendly, got us our drinks and we enjoyed the atmosphere. We were staying the night at the Hampton Inn next door, so this was a very short walk to enjoy a great meal. I would highly recommend Nicollini's, but get a reservation if possible if you don't want to wait. In our case, it was not an issue. read more

This pizza is amazing! If I live in Ohio I'd get this pizza once a week. We tried 3 different pizzas the white pizza, Brier hill pizza, and the potato and greens pizza. All of them were amazing it was very hard to pick just one that I liked more. Now you'd think that potato and greens on a pizza is weird BUT let me tell you!!!!! To die for! And if you love a saucy pizza the brier hill is the one, and I love a good sauce pizza. The white pizza was good too in fact my brother and sister liked that one the best. We told our sever we were from Houston, Tx and we wanted good pizza because we don't have that down here and she told us you have to try those 3 pizzas and she made our night. Have been going here my entire life and will continue to do so. I have never once had a bad experience or bad, cold food. From the bread and oil to the salad served in the chilled metal bowl with that phenomenal dressing you just can't go wrong eating here. I recommend a few dishes. #1: Always my number 1 go to and what I always order when dining in is the Chicken Marsala. They make it different from other restaurants because they don't do a reduction with their sauce but rather they thicken and sweeten it making it amazing. I order extra sauce which is pricey at $5 for the sauce but it's worth it I feel. Try the potatoes as the side dish. #2: If you like seafood fry their Linguini and Clam sauce. It's amazing! #3: If you're looking for pizza, you HAVE TO get their Brier Hill with extra cheese. Best BH pizza i've ever had. They have a sweeter sauce and I personally like that with my Brier Hill pizza. It's definitely worth trying and reasonably priced. Bottom line, don't let the negative reviews here turn you away before trying for yourself. I assure you if you try their Chicken Marsala or Chicken/Fish Francaise you will not be disappointed. I had eggplant parm..it was cold. had it reheated and quite honestly it was so overcooked it was like mush. our friend ask if the salmon was wild caught..the answer was yes..she is a salmon expert, ordered it, looked at it when served and immediately knew it was NOT wild caught salmon..so for $27 you get the farm raised fish. The server kept giving the wrong beverage to the wrong person and I think we were charged for their beverage. the restaurant was freezing cold inside. Not a good atmosphere, not good service and certainly not good food. We won't go back. When they were on 224 they couldn't be beat. read more

I wish I could give this place 5 stars. Growing up this place was fantastic. The Veal Francaise is the best item on the menu in my opinion. However, I think over time this place has slacked a little bit. Service isn't bad, but the food does not taste as good as it used to. Sometimes its seems as if you don't get enough for what you pay for. I think that is okay at some high end restaurants but this does have the all around quality to do that. Every year, after Christmas, my friends from Pittsburgh and Cleveland meet up at Nicolinni's Restaurante in Youngstown. It's a tradition we've had for the last 7 years and one we will continue thanks to their great food and friendly service. To be honest, the decor and menus look outdated as is the exterior of the building and restrooms. If you can get past that, you'll have a great experience. They have delicious warm bread that they serve with a dipping sauce. The salad is served family style. It was a tomato and vinaigrette dressing that's garlicky and fantastic. I have two main dishes I go between. I choose either the cheese tortellini in a blush sauce with grilled chicken or chicken Marsala with a side of your choosing. Both are delicious. The staff doesn't rush you. This is a restaurant where kids can be loud and no one is bothered. Definitely try out Nicolinni's if you're in the area. read more

Gang, this place is tasty but boy howdy is it expensive. Everything we ordered was really good, and people went on and on about the salad and dressing but I was like 'baked ziti for $18?' Then I ordered it and it was freakin' delicious and chock full of Italian sausage and pepperoni and I ate every bit like a gross person who eats entire dishes even thought they could stand to skip a meal or two if you catch my drift.
