Love this place! The pizza is delicious and the people who work there are super friendly! We eat here weekly, and I 100% recommend!

Unrealized potential. As a former New Yorker (lived in Bensonhurst and Bay Ridge), married to a born and raised Bronx girl, my love for the pie knows few bounds. I had high expectations about Niki's from the reviews on here up until I walked through their door. I ordered a large garlic pie by phone. That's it. While waiting I sat at a filthy table left with a lone bowl and saw food on the floor and tables clearly not clean. I've been in some not so clean pizza joints in Brooklyn so I wasn't that worried, hoping the pie would redeem the issue. After the staff agreed I had ordered a pizza and (this took a few minutes to figure out) I waited an additional 15 minutes, having arrived 15 minutes after placing my order (when it was supposed to be ready). Again... "so what?" I think. "They got the style of ovens I'm familiar with from NYC, the pie has to be good." They finish up and box it, I sneak a peak and see the crust looks correct (it does) and so I go on my way home. At the house, I finally get my first real look. Their definition of "garlic pizza" is very different than what I was expecting. Instead of freshly sliced cloves, toasted to perfection I find canned, pre-minced garlic in random clumps across the top. Additionally, the cheese had half-slide into the box. I drive very slow and cautious (new dad), had the pie on a flat seat... no idea how this happened. Anyway, it's the taste... right? How'd it taste? Well, at first I could tell the sauce had the blend I was used to. The basil popped out a bit, just how I like it, but it didn't hold up to the watery cheese invading my taste buds. That great looking crust was fine, UNTIL I held my pizza up to fold it (like all of us New Yorkers do) and the bottom of the pie was black in spots with random crust bits were falling off. It's obvious that the ovens hadn't been cleaned. My wife was really excited at first, but quickly stated we'd never buy from Niki's again. It's a shame. The business is the outline of a great NYC pizza joint, but quality control just went out the door. I may try Niki's again myself (I believe in 2nd chances), but I hope to see some major improvements that honor the man's vision described on their website. read more

I was in Austin for a few days on business. As is my habit, I started looking for pizza places near my hotel. I've stayed here before about 6-8 years ago and remembered having some great NYC pizza from a place on the other side of the freeway. It appeared that the place moved or was no longer in business. So I decided to check-out Niki's. To my surprise, my faulty memory had been looking in the wrong shopping center. When I pulled up I recognized the place immediately. I had their 5-topping special with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, and black olives. That's pretty much a supreme. The toppings were all fresh and plentiful and cook was perfect and created foldable NYC slices. It was so good that I made a return trip before my departure. They make great pizza! read more

The first time I went it was amazing. The second time I went, not so much. My only complaint is the frozen/canned spinach....come on, ya gotta do fresh spinach if you are going to do a real veggie pizza. Maybe they just cater to the meat eaters. canned spinach=Yucko. Based on the reviews I really expected something amazing. The staff were nice enough, the dining room was clean enough. They have great specials and combos for the price. Unfortunately, the pizza was just average. Two thirds of our crust was burnt and I don't mean really dark, I mean burnt - I mean, the taste of ashes in your mouth burnt. The garlic was not fresh; it was from a jar and I could tell. If I am willing to mince my own garlic on an almost daily basis, I would expect a pizza place to do the same. Though the pizza was picked up and driven home, only about an 8 minute drive, it had an underlying taste of cardboard that I could not ignore. Oh well. Nothing there made me want to come back. I will stick to driving down south for Homeslice for this style of pizza. read more

This order was placed and delivered through EatOutIn. I was in the mood for some comfort food, and the menu for Niki's had some options that looked like what I was up for. I was very disappointed. First, the packaging was leaky and messy. Second, the garlic rolls that were supposed to be included with the entree were missing. Third, the sausage in the spaghetti with sausage was bland. Fourth, the meatballs seemed oddly watery. Fifth and most depressing, the cannoli shells were miserably stale. Niki's won't be getting any more business from me! read more

Amazing calzones to die for!!!! I've never had a better calzone anywhere. This really hit the spot for sure. My boyfriend had been a regular since high school but he hadn't had it in years after graduating and took me my very first time and it was delicious!!!! Perfect amount of cheese and meat in Calzone and also their marinara and ranch dipping sauce is beyond tasteful definitely coming back!!!! read more

I didn't feel like cooking (as usual) as was looking for something and saw this place delivered and had such great reviews so I gave it try. It did not disappoint. My food came within the expected time frame and was piping HOT!! I ordered eggplant parmigiano for myself, and lasagna for my niece then baked ziti (which I planned on having for lunch tomorrow). OK so the serving sizes are HUGE!!! I could've ordered just one. The portion sizes are enough to share which is surprising considering the price. I haven't tried their pizza but me and my niece will certainly try them next time we are craving pizza. read more

Good, foldable pepperoni. Not quite but close enough for rock and roll to a standard NYC style. Niki's is run by nice folks. Not all smarmy nice folks. It's a pizza joint and they slave over hot ovens all day. If I did that I'd just smile and nod a lot and that's what you get here at Niki's. That and seriously competitive pricing. The 16" cheese goes for like $10 and it's much better than the national chains for sure. Niki's has been rolling out the greasy wheels you want when you're glassy eyed since the early '80's when I was a skinny, starving UT student glomming onto any budget priced tasty carbs I could back when they owned the food court in the lower part of Dobie Mall at the corner of 21st and The Drag. Like Talking Heads said, same as it ever was. Niki's is the real deal when you don't wanna drop $20 on a large pepperoni from East Side Pies and you don't wanna drive into the gaping maw of Austin's increasingly brutal traffic gridlocking the central sections of Megacity One. I judge this Niki's pie to be drokkin' good. read more

This is nothing like New York pizza. Cleverly they say "New York Style" and if by style they mean "we once ate pizza in New York" then sure. Crust: Flavorless. Doughy. No crunch and no chew. Sauce: I added salt, hot pepper and grated cheese to try and give this circle of air some flavor. All which I provided myself. What pizza place doesn't send crush red pepper and cheese? This place. If you want pizza that resembles New York and actually tastes good - Slap Box in Round Rock is the closest I've had here in the Austin area. This place is a "never again" for me. Much like Gattis. Just bad pizza places. Even Nikki's pepperoni has no flavor, that's almost impossible to find but here it is in all its glory. read more

NY style! Ordered tonight because my 6 y/o son is obsessed with pizza & even though I'm from here, I'm always disappointed unless I order from a fancy pizza place downtown. This totally reminds me of the pizza when I lived on the east coast and the staff were so friendly! Very nice on the phone and in person! Why would anyone in Pf or N Austin order from a national chain that sucks around here (check all reviews), even if they had coupons? This place charges a fair price, has specials, and most importantly, real cheese and great crust! We got a half mushroom & cheese to split, I sprinkled garlic powder on the mushroom at the restaurant before heading out, yum! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Ordered takeout on Mother's Day for my wife and myself. It was excellent. My wife ordered the chicken fettuccine alfredo, I ordered the baked ziti with meatball, and we shared the Greek salad before the entrees. All three were equally outstanding! I went to this restaurant last night and it was amazing! I ordered mozzarella sticks, Caesar salad and a cheese pizza. Simple stuff I know but it was for me and my 11 year old son. The guys making the pizza where friendly and made conversation as we ate but for me it was the food... I would have to say it's my favorite pizza in Austin. I order those same 3 things and Niki's pizza does it the best!!!! I've also had many pasta options and lots of different pizzas all my favorite. read more

Yum! I love this place. I will drive 20 minutes just to have their wonderful sausage pizza. This location is run by Uncle Niki's nephew, and the customer service is wonderful. I am always cheerfully greeted, recognized and respected. It feels great. I think I have met the entire family -- including cute babies. All are wonderful people and so hard-working. ..... My family and I had lunch here today. Being that the ol' honey bun is from NY, he wanted to try out the pies here and see how they compare. What can I tell you? According to my husband they didn't stand a chance. With that being said, they were still really good. The service is nice and the slices were served super fast. I had a cheese and a pepperoni. I'd go back and eat here again. I am only knocking off a star because their restrooms were atrocious. There was dried urine all over the seat and dried hand soap which had been poured down the side of the sink. The fact that it was dry and caked lead me to believe that the restrooms were not cleaned on a frequent basis. I'll just have to go before I eat here! read more

Oh my GOSH! Best pizza I've had in a long long time. I can't believe I've never been there! The prices are very reasonable. I placed an order for pick up and it was hot and ready when we got there. It smelled so good that my daughter and I had to eat a slice right there in our car in the parking lot. So so good. The crust was the perfect thickness and had an audible crunch. The sauce to crust to topping ratio was spot on. We got the chicken fajita pizza topped with chunks of (tasty surprise) fried chicken, bell pepper, onion and yummy gooey cheese. Sorry there's no picture, we kind of ate the whole dang pizza as soon as we got home. But we will be back, and soon, and you should all go too. Like now!!!!!!! read more

This is great pizza and service! I used to eat at Niki's in the Dobie Mall all of the time since I work at the venerable UT. Now, I hardly ever go there because I'm in my 30's and can't eat pizza for lunch since I don't want to become a fat-ass office worker. Last year I was happy to find them opening a second location up north near where I do most of my shopping - Techridge center. I guess maybe they live north too and figured, why not? There are a million pizza places to choose from around here but this place rules them all. It's NY / NJ style thin crust. They're put pretty much whatever you want on it and in fact, that is one of the main reasons I dig this place. The owner is right there to help you and he really makes you feel at home. Restaurants come and go but more often than not, it's personal service that keeps people coming back. The guy is the real deal and just super cool. On a side note and in contrast to this, I tried "House Pizza" a few weeks ago and it was GOOD. The food was good. The service left much to be desired so I say forget that place. You want examples? Maybe I'll review them later. $9.99 16" THREE TOPPING thin crust. Killer deal - super service - let's keep them rolling for years to come. This place will never get the attention it deserves because it's way too far up north for most of the reviewer type demographic (I'll explain later if you want). And it's got NO style, class, or people watching options but it is superb pizza and friendly service. Their boxes even read "God Bless America" which I encourage. Why 4 stars instead of 5 if I loved this place so much? I wish they had fresher tomatoes. It seems like every tomato I've had there (sliced upon pizza or in a salad) is that orange color that will never ripen. I know it's difficult to buy really great tomatoes and expect them to survive more than one day. Anyway, this place still rules pizza. read more

After a few tries here, this pizza is consistently pretty good. It is a bit greasy, but what you would expect from a large pizza by the slice restaurant. They have some great lunch specials (which I think may continue on past the stated 3 PM deadline). About $6 for two slices of PIzza (VERY LARGE) and a drink. One slice is really enough to fill an average person up in my estimation. Selection varies according to I Don't Know What. Pepperoni tends to be a safe bet as opposed to the other more adventurous pizza toppings. It is very small seating (with usually no one eating in) with soccer always on a TV in the back corner. Drink mixes are not so-hot. I would lean towards the bottled drinks or water. Tried a salad once to try and be slightly healthy before a greasy pizza - salad was very lackluster. Some lettuce and tomato with dressing; as basic and unsatisfying as you can get. read more

I'm not judging it on being real NY pizza, because I'm not from New York and the one time I visited was on a class trip and we didn't eat pizza- so I have no idea what NY pizza taste like. As others have mentioned. The deals here are pretty sweet. 2 huge slices plus a drink for around $5.95 including tax. I would highly recommend sticking to the basic pizzas. Cheese, Pepperoni, Mushrooms since they're pretty basic. Don't go anything too extreme. Wouldn't recommend their pasta dishes either because they use a lot of cans vegetables. Ew. Oh forgot to mention the thin crusts are delicious! Not dough-ey and very crunchy. Just how I love it. read more

'Never judge a book (or in this case, eatery) by it's cover' Some of the best meals I've had in town were from small, unassuming joints in the middle of strip malls, and Niki's fits that to a 'T.' I've been to NY/NJ, and Niki's Pizza would fit in there just fine. The calzones are ridicularge, and the pizza itself usually fresh and tasty. While certain days they're better than others, the average quality is quite high. To be frank, this place completely wrecked everything else for me in town. (Yaghi's, Austin Pizza, Gatti's, The Chains.) Don't get me wrong, I'd still do heinous things for a Round Table Pizza from California, but until then.. I'll still drive all the way from Hutto if I'm really craving. PS. Niki really is the man. read more

Please update your hours if you're not open until noon on Sundays. Last Sunday I called and before I could even speak my order the guy was like, "We're not open until noon... but how many pizzas do you want? Oh, just one? Ok, I can do that for you." Okay??? This Sunday I call and he tells me again they're not open until noon. I tell him last weekend you made me a pizza before noon, "Oh well, I already have a couple of pizzas in the oven..." So, what? Yay! I'm a fan - my sentiments exactly. My favorite pizza in Austin is a tie between Homeslice and Backspace, but way up here in North Austin, the pickings are slim when it comes to delish pizza. A few weeks ago, my husband and I found ourselves starving after a shopping spree at Target and I remembered I saw this place pop up a few times on my Yelp feed, so we headed over to order a pie. We ended up with the family deal - XLarge pizza, cheesy bread, salad and soda for a decent price (around $15 I think?). Verdict? Pizza - Super good! We got a pepperoni/mushroom combo and it was super tasty. Again, not as good as Homeslice, but a fair substitute. Cheesy bread - It's cheese and bread. How can you not love it? Salad - No bueno. We got a Cesar salad, but it was basically just lettuce and dressing. It didn't even include croutons - weird. Overall - If you have a pizza craving and live nearby, this is definitely the place to try! Piping hot, tasty sauce and generous toppings make an awesome pie. We've ordered the same pizza a few more time and have been satisfied every time. read more
