We have been regulars at Nikki's for a while now.on Friday's. We visit because of a bartender named Hellema. We also have developed a relationship with April. Our problem has become extra charges. You are charged $3.00 for an extra plate, a $.25 charge for using a credit card. Yes maybe a small amount but a $3.00 charge for a plate, a $.25 charge for using a credit card? Normally your costs would cover these costs, Nikkis charges for food and drink are rather high. We have decided not to eat at Nikki's anymore and will only pay cash because of the extra charges. read more

This is the first restaurant I have been to were they wouldn't accommodate people who has had stomach surgery ( I have a special card from SWEDISH) I they would only allow me to get one egg one bacon or sausage. On the kids menu there was a French toast meal on the kids menu and the manager would not let me get it so I had to get a waffle for 12 bucks and all I could eat was a little. Good breakfast place but that's really it. Service is not great. Old fashioned plating and the food is more expensive then other places. Lastly, the owner seems checked out and doesn't really care about the customers. If you want to eat here, go for breakfast but nothing else. Update: I am sad to post this as I have been going here for years. I used to like this place for breakfast but the owner just doesn't seem to care anymore. Dinner here was always bad but now the Breakfast, which is why most people come here, is now not worth it. Prices continue to raise even though the food quality hasn't improved to match. If you want to save money try tossing the kale and oranges. Also, the coffee doily can get tossed too. This is 2019, your decor is more modern but you plates are from 1970. Regarding the price, for tens bucks LESS I can go to a curtain bakery in Kent and get high quality food and service. My son who is under six now has to pay full price for the buffet? REALLY. I see waste everywhere and yet that stays and the price goes up. First time here, wow very good! Portion control is not in their dictionary. Ordered beef stroganoff, it was enough for a family of 4! Delicious and full of tender beef, whole mushrooms and a rich sauce and topped with sour cream. Came with an enormous fresh salad and rolls and butter. Couldn't even put a dent in it so I have dinner for my hubby and I for tomorrow too. He had the baked cod, two generous filets, big oven baked potato with all the toppings and a salad. Service was fast and friendly! Will definitely be back, everything out of the kitchen looked amazing. Prime rib is a definite must try Friday or Saturday night. I like this place. It's a great alternative to the chain diners and all the food I've had there has been of a decent standard. Don't get me wrong, Nikki's isn't trying to be a gourmet place, it's comfort food in a relaxed environment, but they do it well. I've been there most often for breakfast / brunch, and they serve large portions of the usual fare you'd expect. They do a decent job of creating a homemade feel to the food, it certainly feels like someone in the kitchen cares about what they put on the plates. I wouldn't give them any stars if that was an option we drove 30 minutes and paid $100 and they messed up on half of our order and I call no apology the owner hangs up on me I called then she tells me that I can come and get my food I live 30 minutes away and spent $100 and all she keeps doing is hanging up. I really wanted to enjoy this meal and support a local, independent business. However that did not happen. I read the reviews online before we went and they were 2 to 12 months old. There were mixed comments, but some locals said it was good. With the pandemic stopping business, I wanted to go and try. Well, it was just ok. Service was excellent and friendly. Portions are HUGE yet my husband's plate was 3/4 mashed potato and 1/4 Chicken Fried Steak. Gravy was too much and chewy. I had an Almond Chicken with Coconut Prawns. Also Clam Chowder. The sauces and soup had too much salt and way too much flour. I shared my concerns but only told the waiter. No management came by. We love Nikki's...it's the best restaurant by far. When we lived in Covington, my family and I would go every Friday night. We moved to San Antonio a few years ago and can't find a restaurant that compares or even comes close to Nikki's. Well, I just paid $16 for a marginal club sandwich and a sour attitude. As a local diner, we thought this seemed like a nice place for lunch. We noticed the portions were large, and ordered a club sandwich and told the server we would just share it. Without any further ado, she brought two plates and had split the order. When the bill came, it had an extra $2 charge for splitting the order. We would have been just as happy to share one plate (we didn't ask her to give us two plates) and the waitress told us "it's on the menu" ... and there is a small reference at the bottom of the menu saying "split charge $2." Added to that, the use of any debit or credit card invokes an additional fee from the restaurant, which they say is posted "on their door" (obviously others have complained about this, too, which is why they feel they need to post it). We spoke with the owner, a rather sour woman who made no apologies for the extra prices, basically said they have to cover their costs because of their large portions, and essentially could have been a poster child for poor customer service. Essentially, the diner is more expensive than what you get in food quality or service. It's unfortunate that the friendly servers are hampered by an owner/manager who obviates the good work they are doing with ridiculous policies and an unfriendly, unwelcoming attitude towards her customers. Shame on you. Learn something about customer service, make life easier for your employees, be gracious to your customers, or find another career where you don't have to work with the public or manage people. My husband and I ate here the day after Christmas for lunch. I ate there when it was 272 and never had been back. We were seated immediately and the restaurant was probably 2/3 full. A good sign to start! My husband had a beer, nice...but $4.85? We split a reuben and he ordered a dinner salad to go with his side. His salad arrived quickly and the dressing was good, but the salad was average...lettuce, tomatoes, purchased croutons and sunflower seeds. The reuben was great, though. Lots of pastrami and a good ratio of cheese, dressing and sauerkraut on marbled rye bread. The fries were large steak fries, with a good amount of seasoning on them. A little note...the ketchup bottle we received had never been opened. I like that...usually I think restaurants just refill old ones, I'm never sure how old they are...just a little quirk of mine:) Lunch for two for about $20 works for me. Enjoyed a very nice breakfast at Nikki's today and I look forward to returning. We were greeted and seated immediately. The environment is clean and modern but not fussy. Our server recommended a breakfast special, cinnamon and almond french toast with eggs and bacon or sausage, for $5.50. Menu options for breakfast averaged around $9. The special was too good of a value to pass up. Service was very friendly, and our coffee cups were never even half empty before being refilled. Very pleasant and attentive. Our specials arrived with five pieces of bacon each, eggs nicely cooked, and four half slices of french toast. It was a great value for a very tasty breakfast. We took a peek at the dinner menu to find burgers around $10, pasta and salads around $12, other entrees around $15, and steaks and prime rib around $20. A little pricey for an everyday casual menu, but reasonable enough to bring the family for dinner. If they have dinner specials with the same value as our breakfast today, that would be nice. I'm very happy to have a reasonable dining option in Covington after the debacle of the 272. read more

Been here enough times and finally had enough tonight to write a review.... Food is average at best and they nickel and dime you any which way they can... 11.95 for 6 mozzarella sticks? Come on now... Any normal person wouldn't buy that... The kicker tonight is that they tried to pass off a frozen hamburger patty as a sirloin burger... I've had the sirloin burger before and it tasted actually pretty good.. This was piss poor. It does need to be said that breakfast is probably all that is good here.. That being said the sneeze guards for the buffet are normally coated in dust and at times haven't been cleaned in awhile... This was probably our last trip here which is sad because awhile ago it actually was a decent restaurant... P.S. Let me start by saying that Nikki's is substantially better than 272 grill. That being said I think there are a few things that could make this place much better. We were seated right away. Service was friendly albeit a little spacey (she kept forgetting things and coming back to the table). The salads were brought out and they were iceberg lettuce with way too much dressing on it. I ordered the Cajun chicken tortellini and my husband had the almond chicken. The tortellini was WAY too much food. I could've eaten it for 3 meals. It was also saturated with sauce. The flavor of the meal was really good though and the chicken was tasty. My husband liked his meal. The best part of the meal was the vanilla bean cheesecake!! One of the best I've had. I was here on Saturday night with the fam for one of my husband's friend's birthday dinner. The staff was really accomodating to a large group. We were given our own section and ended up using 4 separate tables. We did run into a few problems because of the size of the group. First - our table was only given a children's menu even though it was a check of 3 "adults" and 1 child. Anytime the waitress came into the area while everyone was deciding what to eat and drink she hurried off before we could ask for a few more so we ended up using a couple of our friend's menus from the next table over. The next - we were never offered refills on our waters or sodas. That wouldn't be such a huge deal if one of the kids didn't just want water. I will say they were on top of our bar orders and kept those coming! Also, when the check came no one ever picked it up. Thankfully we paid in cash and didn't need change but had we not we would have been there forever! The good: -The salads - my husband and step-daughter really liked their Caesars (even though they came with tomato, that's a little strange) and I enjoyed my side salad. Their Thousand Island was really good! -The butter that came with the bread - it wasn't freezing cold! Easy to spread. Nice. - Our waitress was very sweet and answered any questions we had nicely and quickly. -Our food came out quickly once we ordered it. -$80 check for 3 "adults" and 1 child (one of the adults is 13) - I had 2 drinks and my husband had 2 or 3 beers. Can't beat that. The bad: -Hubby and I both ordered steaks. His medium rare and mine medium. His came out rare and mine medium rare. Gross!! -Food came out cold (weird since it came out pretty fast, too) -My "Oscar" topping for my steak smelled reaaaaaaalllly fishy. It made me really suspicious so I didn't eat much of it. -The mashed potatoes definitely came from a mix - It's so easy to make real mashed potatoes!!! -No one was offered refills on sodas and water came way late in the meal. I get that liquor has a larger profit margin but we had kids with us. I would be willing to try breakfast here. I imagine they would be pretty good. But dinner? Went in for breakfast since there's not much in Covington. Huge mistake. Service was actually quite good. The food, particularly the value for what they charge...terrible. Why does a cup of crappy Folgers coffee cost $2.99?! Why do they make their omelettes with 4 eggs, then barely fill them with anything? The ratio was all off. Why do they put a strange dollop of tomato sauce on top of a Denver omelette?! Gross. Why do they use the blandest frozen hash-Browns, then refuse to add a speck of salt to them on the grill? After hearing good things about the new Restaurant Nikki's that had opened up in the old 272 location in covington, I was excited to give it a try, the Covington area is really building up and Applebees is just not doing it for me. My girlfriend and I decided to stop in for lunch after doing some volunteer work with a Christmas toy drive, and boy am I glad we did ! We arrived around 2 since we had a busy morning, not your typical lunch hour, but the place was still pretty full of customers (good sign). We were seated quickly and our waitress was very prompt in giving us our menus and getting our drink orders started, always a plus ! Food I ordered the French Dip, personal favorite of mine and it was prepared exactly how I like it. The meat was sliced thin and was not fatty the Au Jus was hot and full of flavor. I appreciate it when a place serves things the way they are suppose to be prepared and don't try to hard to "put their own twist" on classic meals. My meal came with fries, I had the option for steak, waffle, sweet potato or onion rings ! I went with the waffle fries which were particularly good dipped in the BBQ sauce. My Girlfriend ordered the "half order" of a Chicken salad and she def got my monies worth, it looked a lot like a full size to me. The chicken was grilled nicely and all of the ingredients were fresh, she always asks for her dressing on the side, and they were not stingy giving her ample. Her salad also came with hot dinner rolls which was a nice touch. Overall- We will definitely be going back to Nikki's in the future to try out more of their menu. The food was very good and the prices were very reasonable for what you get. Our waitress was very pleasant and was able to tell us about all the different dishes, also we were informed that they plan to begin serving Breakfast there soon which is a big plus since I work shift work and look forward to a good place to eat breakfast when I get off. Im actually pretty sad how this place turned out. My sister and I were out shopping and were hungry so we decided to try this place out. The parking lot was PACKED! We were thinking this place must be amazing if it's this full. We sat in the bar and the waitress took our drink orders immediately. It took awhile for her to come back and get our order. I wasn't too upset about that, just a little annoyed. We decided to just order appetizers and got the chicken wings and hummus and pita chips. Literally, 45 minutes later she comes over and tells us that they are out of hummus and asked us what else we wanted. 45 minutes later and you're NOW just telling us?!?! She showed us the happy hour menu of the other appetizers we could get but made sure to point out that those were happy prices and we would have to pay the full amount. I told her we just wanted our wings and she said "okay I will tell them to fire them up" Are you eff'ing kidding me?!? It's been 45 minutes and they haven't even started them?! At that point I just asked for the check for our drinks and told her we didn't want the wings. She said she was sorry and kept asking if we wanted them boxed up. I told her no we just wanted to pay and go. Then another lady walks us over the chicken wings and said here they're done. I told her we had to go, we had waited long enough and she rolled her eyes and just walked off. We will not be back. I understand things happen, cooks get busy, whatever. The parking lot attendant was berating one of the worker at the restaurant next door, I watched from across the parking lot as he began his racial slurs toward a worker who had parked in their lot because the neighboring restaurant parking lot was overly full. He was saying that Indian immigrants are the problem with this country (coincidently the 16 year old female high school student he was referring to is not Indian) and other racist things, yelling at the top of his lungs to the manager of the neighboring restaurant. If the employees at this establishment are going to support that kind of treatment toward kids, I would definitely stay away. I think this restaurant is headed downhill fast if they're going to keep that guy employed. Would have been a pretty simple thing to let one of the employees stay until there was room to move her car rather than looking like a racist bigot in front of 70+ potential customers sitting in the neighboring restaurant (meanwhile the number of guests might have been 20 inside Nikki's) Save your money and eat elsewhere. read more

We have had lunch here several times and have been VERY happy. The food is good, fresh and there's lots of it. This morning however we decided to try there buffet, BIG mistake. The "food" was BAD. The French toast is microwaved, the gravy came from a can and the "cheese" on the omelettes tasted just like cheese wiz. The food was all at room temperature. This was the worst brunch I have ever had. I would have given a 5 star if I hadn't had made the decision to try their brunch. Never again. read more

Only thing bad I will say is Mother's Day brunch was sooo much better than the Father's Day brunch you offered even though it was still good. Came here for the first time and would NEVER go again. I asked for a medium well steak and brought me an extra well done TWICE. The third and LAST attempt they brought me an undercooked medium if you'd call it that with blood gushing out. I asked the host to MAKE SURE THE SERVER SAW IT and he took it to the kitchen without showing the server. Where they cleaned off my steak and had her bring it out TELLING me that's what it's supposed to look like.
