    Zucchini Bread and fruit tart

Well apparently 11 years ago me went to Ninos for restaurant week with my sister too! I believe Nino's has had some ownership changes since then but I can attest these owners and staff are so eager to please! The owner came up to our table when we first sat down for lunch and talked us through the restaurant week menu - I'm so glad because we took her suggestions and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Our selections: 1. Carabaccia - an Italian French onion soup. Amazing. My favorite is the very thought out way that the toast was on top rather than soggy in the soup. Genius. 2. Croque Milano - good but I think the pesto overpowered the sandwich. Reallllly enjoyable the next day. Dipping sauce for the gnocchi was 10/10 but wanted a little more pop of flavor from the gnocchi itself. 3. Fruit tart and zucchini bread - fruit tart was perfect because I love a fruit tart and when it's well executed it's amazing. This zucchini bread though was elite. Definitely toasted in a little butter before serving. So. Good. I'll definitely be back and I love that they are open for lunch now!

Everything was amazing! It's a small place so pretty intimate and the literal only drawback of the night was that it can get a little noisy when every table is filled. Everything else was phenomenal. Drew, our waiter was soo nice and very informative. The service was top notch. So many people coming to the table for waters, clear plates etc. they apologized for a delay we didn't even realize had happened. Now the food was amazing! Homemade everything. We got the burrata caprese, Ninos Caesar salad, Cap ribeye special with pesto rigatoni and the pescatore pasta. Can't say enough about how good everything was! The Dressing on the salad was out of this world. You can really tell it's all made from scratch. The fish, shrimp, mussels and scallops were cooked perfectly. The steak was delicious and the homemade pasta was incredible. We got the chocolate decadence cake for dessert and it has a little hint of chile that really warms your throat at the end and was surprisingly nice. So glad we tried it finally! Best Italian in Baton Rouge by far.

Our first trip to Nino's certainly will not be our last! You can't go wrong with seasonal, farm to table ingredients and top notch service. We felt welcomed from the second we arrived and were impressed by the attention to detail and quality of the food throughout our entire meal. The food and service were impeccable and we can't wait to visit again!

Our server Drew was phenomenal and very knowledgable! The food was fantastic and the cocktails were quick to come out, definitely coming back!

Why haven't we eaten here before? The service is the best, Paige was so friendly and nice to chit chat with us. Anything on the menu is so fresh. We had the burrata and it was amazing. I had the cap steak special and my husband had the fish and seafood pasta. My spicy gouda pasta was the best I've ever eaten. Make reservations and go!!

My husband had the blue crab gnocchi which he devoured. We fly into town for family often and are excited to make this a regular stop for us. We had our 5 year old with us who fell asleep on the way to the restaurant. They were very considerate and placed us in a booth so she could sleep. The bartender even gave us her child's blanket to keep her warm while we enjoyed our meal and drinks. What a wonderful and relaxing end to our day. Thank you so much!

We came to Rufino's for dinner on Saturday night, and luckily there was no wait. We weren't aware…read moreof the dress code, so my partner was politely asked to take his hat off while dining at the table. The ambiance was nice and quiet, with dim lighting for a more intimate vibe. For appetizers, we ordered the crabmeat cheesecake and calamari. Both were good, but the crabmeat cheesecake was AMAZING! I think the sauce for the calamari could use some improvements as it tasted a little too light for pairing. They offered complimentary bread service, and the olive oil/ balsamic mixture had tons of freshly grated cheese which tasted amazing compared to other places. For drinks, we both got bloody mary's, but mine was so stiff that it tasted like a double compared to my partner's.. They also didn't do the spiced rim and were out of pickled green beans. The drink experience was quite disappointing overall, so my partner finished it for me, and he agreed mine tasted like straight up alcohol. We decided on the 16 oz. ribeye and Rufino's bolognese for our mains, and upon arrival, I was EXTREMELY disappointed to see that they served the bolognese with rigatoni instead of tagliatelle. The pasta was also served warm, not hot like the roasted potatoes which was weird. Looking back at the menu, I regretfully did not read the entire description because it's bolognese and I expected the traditional pasta to be used in it. The pasta sauce was still delicious as well as the steak, but the roasted potatoes tasted so strongly of peanuts so I wasn't a fan at all. We noticed that they offered complimentary cotton candy for dessert, but we decided to splurge on the crème brûlée and it was so yummy! Overall, I would come back, but I would not get the calamari or the bolognese again. The service was friendly while still keeping things professional, but it definitely slowed down a lot once we received our entrees.

Recently we had the flu in our house so we DoorDash some soup from carrabbas. The chicken soup is my favorite and it was especially good when I was under the weather. Wish they would add an option to get a side of salad dressing on the order tho without having to order a whole salad. We love to dip our bread in the house dressing!!

The salads are always fresh, the bread is always warm, and the entrees are normally good. I will add that the shrimp scampi is also good but a tad spicy, which is surprising. The Chicken Piccata is disappointing, although it tasted a tad better than it looked. Which I'm thankful for. The Alfredo is probably one of the better dishes, and the 3 chicken meal is usually a good option. The location itself is clean and orderly. But again, the Service I have found to be a bit slow, and Servers aren't always friendly. So, I'll leave it to you to judge if it's worth trying. Food- good, Service- Hit or Miss.

Soft lighting and subdued music gave it an intimate feel. We decided to do an assortment of appetizers and desserts so we could try more things. We opted for 4 appetizers, the famous bread, a cup of a soup and two desserts with cappuccinos to complete our meal. You do have to pay for bread here, but trust me, you're going to want to. We got some red sauce to go with it, but we both personally preferred the bread without it. Next we got a cup of lobster bisque. The flavor was good , and there was a surprising heat to it, which honestly made me want to keep eating it. For appetizers, we ordered the seared ahi tuna, the eggplant stacks, the toasted ravioli and the beef manicotti. However, they were out of the manicotti so Joel suggested the seafood stuffed mushrooms, and I'm glad he did! I'm not a big mushroom fan, but I gladly ate these and would order them again. My complaint is that there are only three ... and I was sharing them. For dessert, we got the crème brûlée and the Italian brownie cake. The crème brûlée was perfection and the brownie cake was deliciously rich and satisfying. There are so many dishes that we want to try that we can't wait to go back!
