This theatre is huge and has a lot to offer! I love that this theatre has a bar but the downside is you can't take the drinks into the theaters unless the movie is 21+. Another great thing about this theatre that I've never seen before is that right before the previews begin, a staff member greets the audience and describes the movie we are about to see. The seats were also very comfortable and it's reserved seating so you pick where you want to sit when you purchase your tickets. The bathrooms are the nicest and cleanest ones I've used at a theatre. Parking is in the parking structure attached to the theatre so don't forget to validate your parking ticket before heading back to the structure. read more

I went to an 1130 am showing of Mommy Dearest, I though this would be a lot of fun to watch an old movie in a theatre, which it was. We had a table at our seats, full menu with fun cocktails to boot. After getting to the theatre in the rain we were excited to sit and relax. About a quarter of the way into the film I shifted my weight and noticed that my legs were wet, I attributed this to the rain, but upon further investigation I found that my ENTIRE BODY touching the seat was soaked in MYSTERY LIQUID, which had the faint scent of urine. I moved seats quickly so as not to disturb the theatre and confirmed the seat was soaked through with some sort of liquid which had OOZED from the cushion through my jeans during the film. Upon telling our waitress we spoke to the manager who then offered her apologies and gave us two free tickets to come back and covered the two beverages we ordered during the film. She said that the seats were cleaned every night and we were the first film so it must have been the cleaning liquid which leaked. Regardless of what the liquid was I was soaked in I WAS DRENCHED FROM THE WAIST DOWN. Pretty horrific experience I would have to say. Pity that this happened because it would've been nice otherwise. read more

When your Tinder date suggests seeing a B horror film as an introduction to his neighborhood, a girl's gotta be suspicious. So I looked the theater up on Yelp, thinking there HAS to be something special about this place. And I must admit, Nitehawk is quite unique. If you can look past all the hipsters, the idea of table service in a small theater is a good one. All you need to do is scribble your menu orders on a small piece of paper with the pencil provided and stick it in the wire coil to let them know it's ready to get picked up. Our waitress zipped down our row a few times throughout the film and was not distracting at all. But you know what was? The little light under everyone's table. It was annoying because don't most people watch in pitch black? Disappointed by our meat and cheese plate, too. A few mediocre pieces for $16. (We should have gone with our first instinct and ordered quesadillas instead.) But I'd come back and give this place another chance. read more

Went for a work event on Thursday night and was blown away by the menu choices and high quality food. Chose the buffalo cauliflower which was delicious. Also had the octopus ceviche which was on par with a high end seafood restaurant. Servers were very attentive. read more

They will not refund your ticket just minutes after your purchase, even if they sold you the worst last available seat - knowing it's a bad seat without telling you. I'm sad to give this place such a horrible review but it's honest. I've been here 3 times total. The first two were great experiences inside the movie theatre, much is left to be desired for the bar downstairs. They have horrible bartenders who could care less about taking your order, let alone getting you your tab so you can make your movie in time. The manager doesn't seem to care, she walks around and doesn't say anything to the neglectful staff texting in cell phones and gossiping with one another. I suppose you could call it Brooklyn service, however I have never experienced what people call Brooklyn service until Nitehawk. My 3rd visit here was to see the Run Diaries, the theatre was mostly full, but we got great seats. We ordered drinks ( they now serve alcohol in the theatre) apps, dinner, and a shared dessert. We coursed the food out with lines separating our order, the waitress was also made aware we would like our food coursed out. Well....it didn't matter, a guy brought our apps and entrees all out together before we even got out drinks! By the time we got to our entrees, they were ice cold, then...two bites into our entrees, the server brought out our ice cream sundae! When I told him he literally just brought us our food, he shrugged and walked off. I usually don't say anything, but this was ridiculous, I took our sundae and brought it out to the lobby and had him take it back. Mind you, this all took place within 20 minutes of the movie starting! What bad service/timing. I understand they are new and their system needs serious tweaking, but don't come thirsty, even getting a soda takes forever. I was so excited about this place but the service ruined it for me. There is one great server there, she has wavy reddish hair, she seems to be the only person there who cares. She takes time with the customers and asks how they enjoyed the experience! She's very sweet! From one restaurant industry person to another, you need to step it up Nitehawk, such a great concept, yummy food, but horrible people. read more

Nitehawk is great, the best of the dine-in theaters, just avoid theater 3 and PLEASE NITEHAWK put some coat hooks on the walls. Bulky jackets and neighbor stuff can really make things cramped. What I wouldn't give to hang my jacket up. read more

My DREAM movie theater. It's the best place to see flicks in the finest manner imaginable: with (legal) beers and fancy popcorn. Get tickets early and often, because everything sells out. A few theaters are laughably small, but it makes for a homey feel. read more

With that being said, the food is awful. It's grossly overpriced ($7 dollars for a small bowl of cold caramel popcorn) and lacks in quality. The movie, service, great! Im leaving this review for the food. I can't believe this was served at the price I paid. I got the taters and the quesadilla and the dark and stormy float. The tots: just warm and not fresh. The cheese was the normal nacho cheese with a few chive on top. Overall I think they should fix this, could be better. The Quesadilla: OMG what did i eat? it was fresh I'll them that, but It tasted awful. I guess that was the risk with a pumpkin filling, but i cant believe anyone orders that and likes it. Also i could barely taste the cheese. Salsa verde, meh. Just disappointing. Lastly the float was ok. I would have loved to eat something good, but there was nothing that I'd be remiss to eat again sadly. Based on all my food selections, I'd be scared to try that menu again. I think they should definitely random sample some of their food, because It doesn't leave a great taste in your mouth. read more

I was glad to check this place out for a screening of Trainspotting 2. It is a dinner/drinks/cafe movie theater that is as good as I've been to (but I havent been to many). The staff was very nice and helpful. Prices are reasonable, and you can have a coffee/beer/wine/cocktail, and peruse a good-sized menu of dinner and small plate options. I had a fried clam sandwich, a dish I always order and am always disappointed with, but Nitehawk's version is spicy and tasty. The coffee I ordered (served in what appeared to be a beer mug) was the best cup of I've had in a theater. I'm going to start checking their listings. read more

Good surrogate for Alamo Drafthouse - a little different (smaller and not quite as well designed but it has a cool community feel that I dig). The menu is decent good as are the pre-show selections. Film programing varies a bit - we recently caught a midnight show presented on 35MM and a solid presentation (the new movies are crisp digital). The food is pretty good, not unreasonable (tickets at $11 are nothing to complain about either!) - service can be a tad spotty (we didn't get our popcorn until I asked an hour in - at that point I was told the kictchen was closed until I explained we ordered it before the start of the movie - they delivered us a bowl that was cold, not really good service but hey). It is way better than AMC's Dine In experiences, but not nearly as addicting as the Austin Alamo locations. read more

Terrific movie curation, smooth service, solid food and drink, comfortable seats, intimate setting, polite and friendly clientele, the service and eating does not detract as you might expect it to, . . . this place does it all well. Easiest and most fun way to do dinner and a movie. Before your movie starts they show shorts and/or other entertainment designed to match the film you are about to see while you begin your meal or enjoy your drink. read more

I've been wanting to come here for a while and when they were featuring 'Django' my husband bought tickets. We were kind of excited, since we rarely go to the movies and he had a Sunday off. We arrived a hour early, had a drink at the bar and strolled upstairs to wait about 20 minutes to get in the theater. We step in and see a fair amount of seats with a table wedge between every two. Looking over the menu we decided on the portebello croquettes, calamari, fish tacos and a hot cider with bourbon. Lights go out and there are a few trailers like the teenage mutant ninja turtles and such then Django comes on. After a while you see the servers serving the drinks and lighter items like popcorn and beef jerky, after about half an hour our food comes. Everything was awesome. The croquettes were fragrant and creamy, the calamari was crispy and the tacos were delicious. There was so much more I wanted to try on the menu but I'll just wait until there's another theater-worthy movie to catch. read more

What an awesome experience!! We came to see "Whiplash" ..I still am in awe of the fact that we were able to be served cocktails in the movie theater without having to sneak it in a coffee mug! We only had popcorn and jerky because we were eating after the movie, but the food that other people were ordering around us smelled amazing! My cocktail (The Firewalker) was absolutely delicious. Make sure you order your tickets online ahead of time and pick them up at the kiosk. And still arrive about 30 minutes early so that you can get a decent seat and get settled before the movie starts. I love that you write down your order and put it in the little coils at the top of your table. SO fun! Between cocktails, snacks, and the tickets it was a bit pricey, but not much more than you would pay if you went to a regular movie theater and got $12 sodas as opposed to cocktails--I prefer the cocktails....We will definitely return! read more

All of the employees were so nice! Food was great, the whole experience was great. I ordered fish tacos and my date had the hamburger, we both enjoyed it. I will definitely be going back. I love Nitehawk so much, sometimes I won't even go and see a film until it's on there. From my friends' obsession with their tater tots, to being able to drink a bloody Mary and watch Bill Murray over brunch, to classic midnight horror movies and themed cocktails (very glad that The Driver, featuring Gosling's Rum and Gosling's Ginger Ale, is still on the menu), what's not to love? I am at Nitehawk probably once or twice a week, and whether alone or with friends it's just a great place to see a movie (or whatever else they may be showing - from Spoons Toons and Booze on a weekend morning or Simpsons Club on Monday nights in the bar). It really feels like a bunch of movie-lovers hanging out and having a wine together. Once we even stayed behind with the waiters to discuss what the hell had just happened in the movie ("Martha Marcy May Marlene" for the curious). They even create their own themed trailers for each special season or feature. My ONLY complaint is that it's kind of hard to keep track of everything going on there! read more

Word of mouth is going to get out, and this trendy, inventive new place is going to draw New Yorkers from all over the city. So my advice is, go now. Go tonight. Book online and get there early to grab your big, comfy seats in one of the three beautiful new theaters, order Saul's delicious fish tacos, tapas or kielbasa from your waiter (yes, waiter) before the film, step out for a sweet tequila drink at the bar (no alcohol in the theater just yet, but they're working on it), and then sit back in luxury and enjoy a cinema experience unlike any cinema experience you've had since.. well, ever. Congratulations to the staff and management of this brilliant new addition to the neighborhood. read more
