Cashier overcharged me TWICE and was grumpy and frustrated. Went back in to remedy first overcharge I saw, and he appeared to be confused as to how to do that. Finally, he figured it out. Went back in a second time after spotting another overcharge, and he said, "WHAT, NOW?!" as though I had been the one at fault the first time. He was incapable of printing the return slip for me, and said, TWICE, "Are you sure you need it?!" Requested manager who printed return receipt. We go here at least once a week. It's the cutest sweetest place which includes a sushi restaurant in the back! Their deli selection has unusual picks like beet salad, as well as staples like spaghetti and meatballs. There's also a gift shop that is represented throughout the market. Was recommended to come here by Charlie who used to work here but now works at Trader Joe's in Boulder. I couldn't find my *then favorite* TJ's white meat chicken salad anywhere in Colorado. Charlie told us he used to always enjoy the Blackened Chicken Salad for lunch. Unfortunately we didn't have time to make it up there, until... A couple of days later on our way out of town, we happened to stop in Niwot at a lovely coffee shop. I remembered that our TJs friend recommended the market and so we stopped in. I purchased 4 containers without thinking about it, and now wish I had bought more. They lasted the next few days of our road trip and brought me so much joy. I love a good chicken salad, and nothing has compared to the Blackened Chicken Salad here. Fresh, so flavorful, great amount of big chunks of chicken.... I'm still dreaming about it and DEFINITELY will be stopping here every time i'm in town to pick some up! Until then, I'll be making chicken salad at home as the flavors I tasted from Niwot Market completely ruined the Trader Joe's chicken salad that I loved so much. (LOL! Probably a good thing...) The rest of the market was lovely and well stocked. They had a great variety of fresh produce and packaged goods, everything you could need in a local market. It was a friendly atmosphere and the man who checked me out at the register was great at his job. We shared a conversation about a waffle cook off happening in the town. I went to the Market one morning and I bought a delicious breakfast sandwich & coffee and sat outside on their lovey outdoor patio. I've been shopping here regularly for a few years now, both the market and deli. It's a great local business which I go out of my way to support, but I'm not sure I will anymore after my last experience. I came in on the weekend for a sandwich after the lunch rush. It wasn't busy, nobody in front of me in line. The guy who took my order, who I'm guessing managed the deli, seemed kind of annoyed and definitely not friendly. I didn't take it personally - the deli folks are usually really busy, even if that wasn't the case today. So I put my order in and waited. Over the next 20 minutes about 4-5 other people put in orders. Things went slow, the only order coming out was for someone who ordered before I came in. However, after 20-25 minutes several more orders came out, all of them for people who came in after me, some long after me. It was hard to get anyone's attention, but finally the guy I ordered from walked by. As politely as I could, I said, "Excuse me, I've been waiting about 30 minutes, can you let me know if something happened to my order?" He flatly replied "You guys all came in at the same time, we're really busy", which isn't true. He walked back to where people were making sandwiches and shouted "We'll get to your order soon" or something like that. There wasn't much point in waiting around any longer, so I left. At best, the guy who took my order was having a bad day and couldn't be bothered. Just a simple, "sorry, let me see what happened to your order" would have helped. All I can say now is it will be a long time, if ever, before I support this business again. read more

Came into this adorable little market when a friend tipped me off on the sushi place inside having incredible ramen on Sundays. Sushi place sadly wasn't open on the Sunday we came in, but we had a great time browsing the market and getting our shopping for the week done. Lots of speciality items and local brands. Reasonableish prices, maybe a bit to the higher side.. but nothing crazy. Seriously such a hidden gem. Niwot Market is one of those "Only Game in Town" Small-Town Markets that tries to present itself as a "gourmet" market... and fails. A couple of shelves of expensive, pre-wrapped chocolates and a few pre-made salads does not a Gourmet Market make. I think they get a ton of business from the Sachi Sushi "Looky-Loos"... Plus Sachi doesn't have cold drinks, so we buy our drinks from the market when we're eating there. Easy way for Niwot Market to make a quick profit. Add to that literally *Every* item in the store is ridiculously overpriced, and you've got a cliché that keeps on going because it's conveniently located. But... $5 for a bottle of Apple Juice that I can get for $2.59 at ANY other Supermarket. $1.59 for a bottle of Snapple that every Gas Station has for $99-$1.25 $3 for bags of chips that should be $1.99 "Gourmet" Chocolate Bars for $6... You get the idea. We walk through the Market to get to Sachi Sushi, and wander it just to kill time while waiting for our sushi, but the prices here are absurd. I can't imagine the people of Niwot do their food shopping here. It's probably just a "it's close and I only need one thing so it's worth the inflated price" kinda place. read more

This is a great local market focused on fresh, organic foods. It's not that big but it offers a good selection of yummy foods. I went on a Friday evening when they offer a glorious buffet for only twenty-one dollars a person. The night I went they served a wonderful smoked salmon, salad, a variety of grilled veggies, and marinated flank steak. It was all so yummy!!! I look forward to trying it again in the near future. Be sure and bring your own beverage. They only serve tea or lemonade. We took a bottle of Rose to coordinate with the salmon and steak. It is the perfect Friday night date place. There's a deli section, where the locals sit to read their newspapers, drink coffee, and chat about community events. It is an OK store for quick in and out emergency supplies. They are so so so so overpriced. I would give them five stars if the prices were more reasonable. Excellent baked goods, excellent meat dept (with a good selection of organic meats), local produce, fresh flowers, good deli, fresh roasted coffee, and the most awesome breakfast burritos imaginable...my Saturday morning treat. I came here for the Japanese food, but I am glad to discover a little local grocery gem. The market reminds me Vitamin Cottage, but has a more mom and pop shop feel to it. Don't get me wrong, they carry a lot of groceries not your typical corner store. When I say mom and pop shop, I mean the staff are friendly and helpful, like those shops in small town. You will experience a more intimate shopping experience. The shop carries a good variety of groceries, organic, healthy food and drinks. They have a sandwich station that makes really yummy and big portioned sandwiches. I recommend the reuben sandwich. I will definitely come back if I am in the area. read more

A great help for my wedding!!! Niwot Market is the greatest small intimate neighborhood grocery market! Fresh and organic, local produce and products. I go there frequently for Sunday ramen at Sachi Sushi. I never thought they would become my wedding vendors too, and I'm glad they did! Wedding cake - Kirsten (baker): Kirsten makes real buttercream cakes in a variety of flavors, including red velvet, ginger, almond, chocolate stout etc. Other topping flavors include chocolate ganache (my favorite), cream cheese frosting, and peanut butter cream. They are smooth and creamy, and most importantly, not too sweet! She met with us for a tasting and design session. She was willing to be flexible in the design so I could get my dream cake of a 3-tier wedding cake plus 60 cupcakes within my budget. She also had great ideas about the design. On the day of the wedding, she showed up to deliver the cake, got the display beautifully set up, never had any hassle. Afterward our guests were asking where we got such delicious cakes! Wedding bouquets - Diane (florist): Diane was easy to work with and reasonable in price (compared to Longmont Florist and others in Boulder). She was willing to custom design bouquets and corsages to bring down the price. She got in touch with me frequently before the wedding, and I never had to worry. My bouquet of peonies and roses was exactly how I imagined it to be. The corsages and boutonnieres were well-made, and they lasted all day throughout the wedding without problem. Very reasonably priced store. I love the local feel to it. The sandwiches are so so so good. They have whole roasted chicken that they roast and season themself. I would like to try too. Also they roast their own coffee have a roaster in the center of their store. Pretty cool. I'm only here for a week but if I lived in town I would be here all the time. read more

If there were a negative rating, that's what I'd give Niwot Market. Food is ridiculously overpriced and mediocre. Fruit and veg are OK at best. Service is terrible particularly from the owners (the older couple) + one young checkout girl never serve with a smile. Bakery is great though I must admit. Dear Owners: with drones on the near horizon to cater to every one of our whims, you only have your nice words/smiles going for you. With your current attitude, you are going to get extinct. Also, I love local but expect good prices, nice service and great quality. Dear Customers: Unless you are absolutely desperate, go to nearby Whole Foods or King Soopers. Special shoutout to King Sooper - really nice to see the challenged serving at your checkouts. I've come to really like this family-run business. I'm a big fan of neighborhood markets, and am happy to pay slightly more to support a local business when it has what I want. This place does, for the most part: fresh and seasonally local produce; all the staples; and a nice selection of treats, including house-made baked goods and pre-prepared sides dishes and meals. The deli makes great sandwiches and the breakfast can't be beat. I also really appreciate the events, like the Friday night summer suppers, which provides a fun gathering opportunity for the community. My biggest complaint is the energy there, or lack of. It's soooo quiet, and the vibe is sooo serious. I think everyone in the family works at the market, and I'm sure they're dead tired from being there every. single. day. (Where are all the energetic high-school kids needing jobs??!!) But I wish they'd put in a sound system and play some jazz or bluegrass or something to up the energy throughout the store. (The deli sometimes has music going, but you can't hear it anywhere else.) The space is also huge, so that adds to the cavernous quietness. I used to live near Lucky Market in North Boulder, and I did almost all my shopping there, for the convenience, yes, but also because it had such a great vibe. There was always good music playing, and the staff, from register to supplements to the deli, were always so upbeat and friendly. But I'll still shop at Niwot Market; maybe I'll even get a smile out of one of the ladies at the register someday. read more
