Nixon's is located right in the City Center in Englewood. It has plenty of seating and the staff was very friendly! The only complaint I have that it is pretty dark to sit at one of the tables towards the back in the store but if any of the window tables are open, you better snag one! Noise level was moderate, if you like quieter coffee shops, I do recommend bring a pair of headphones. Overall, the coffee was not my favorite but it was okay. I had one of their monthly special latte, Birthday Cake. It just didn't live up to my expectations. Another thing to note is that, the coffee is a bit more acidic and bitter tasting but that is definitely in the grounds they use. read more

This shop is conveniently near RTD's Englewood station, and I've had many good experiences there in the past. Unfortunately, when I went there on Sat, 12/7, that was not the case. I can't think of a word for the peculiar taste of the coffee. My mixed berry scone was dry (and I usually like drier baked goods), and it may have had two whole berries in it, I'm not sure. My experience shifted the second time I visited (which was the day after, since it was so good the day before, I came back right away) :-( I should've gotten the barista's name, it was a guy, he made the French Vanilla Latte (FVL) soooooo heavenly creamy and foamy, I was ready to "quit Starbucks". That's exactly the code phrase I used to convince my husband to let me have his FVL, or at least all of the foam layer (it was a good 2/5 of the cup but it's substantial milk froth, not your average cappuccino foam) since what I'd ordered for myself was the Cold Brew (it was OK, I liked that it wasn't too sweet). Naturally I came back the next day ordering the FVL again, having raved about the heavenly froth/foam from the day before, I got a different barista (a female this time) as well as a different product. Could it be because I changed to non-fat milk and asked for only half the syrup? The foam layer was only 1/5 of the cup. It felt similar to a regular Starbucks latte. I'm saddened. Hubby didn't order any drinks this time around but tried a Sausage & Green Chile Panini. I thought it was a pretty interesting creation. 3.5 stars for inconsistency. I'm sorry too. read more

I got an iced Americano and it was beyond bitter. Definitely over pulled the shot or used really bad beans. Either way, this is a neighborhood gathering space that doesn't really know coffee. I actually really loved this little place. Coming early one morning after a holiday I loved the easy corner location and very calming environment. I bet this place can be super busy on the weekdays, but this time it was slow and just peaceful. I met an out of town friend and had to meet super early. Usually on the weekends you get coffee shops opening up later around 8-8:30, but this place was open at 7am and we were both coming from 40min of driving. I had a wonderful latte, my friend had a real brew tea (the kind out of the bag with a cute free leave brew). The place was cute and comfy. I don't know when I will be in the area again, but I will totally be back. I almost want to just go again for another friend date. With so may "mom and pop" coffee shops it's hard to separate and find a wow factor for each. I guess I just really liked the convenience of this half way point and was overly excited to find after driving 40 minutes that it totally did deserve the high star rating and far exceeded my expectations! Delicious, quick, cozy coffee cafe. Reasonable prices and nice big mugs of coffee served on saucers with your name on it. My sausage and cheese breakfast sandwich was hot and tasty. My cappuccino was elegantly presented in a nice big mug with a giant frothy foam! The vibe here is casual and inviting with plenty of people doing work on their laptops or just catching up with friends! A very nice alternative to the chain coffee shops. Feels super cozy. Came here to study. Spacious coffee shop, with awkward parking. If you park across the street at Walmart, you'll be fine. Otherwise, there is timed street parking, which should be long enough for customers making social visits here. Fortunately, I asked if they had a lavender syrup for my latte. Kaladi coffee is amazing and that's what they use! Cute coffee shop abiding by all of the regulations. No gluten free options for snacks that I saw, and you have to wear masks inside. Nitro coffee is great, and the iced matcha almond milk latte my sister got was refreshing, though a bit sweet for me. Great option in Englewood close to the highway. read more

I had plans to meet up with a friend that required lots of talking, note taking and internet browsing. We wanted to try something local and Solid Grounds just happened to be in the right place. When we arrived around 6pm it was fairly busy, not many tables open. We were able to pull two small tables together so we'd have room for both laptops plus notebooks. Worked great! We both ordered drinks - I had a chai with vanilla and she had jasmine tea. The chai was great - if you've ever had Starbucks chai and thought it was too strong/spicy try this place out! It was great! I am not a tea drinker but I thought their tea set up was awesome - you are given a small strainer that fits into your mug with the loose leaves of tea. A lid is put on the mug so your tea can steep {that is what tea does, right?!} then the lid becomes the coaster for your strainer! So cute! Plus you get three refills of hot water! Overall, this place was great. We didn't try any food but the coffee was good and we got a few hours of work in. It would have been nice to have more outlet access, but it beat out Panera's major lack of outlets and is half the size so I shouldn't complain! read more

They gave my tea to a woman who ordered after me and we I went up to the counter she was calling out the other customer tea which was grasshopper green and I ordered rose lemonade or something. I told her it wasn't what I ordered and she said what did you order. I told her and she said she just gave it out oh well I can make you another. We LOVE the baristas here as well as the neighborhood love. This coffee shop is a little hub for us Englewood neighbors and business folk. This is a great place to stop before going to the Civic Center or Englewood Library. They have local coffee cake/breads and pastries too as well as local whole bean coffee. I really dig Solid Grounds. Met a friend there for coffee and a chit-chat, and it was the perfect place. Comfy couch and chairs in the back for relaxing, along with lots of other tables perfect for doing work. The lighting is great, and just has a calm and laid back atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, and the prices are great. I had the special drink of the day: a Mexican Mocha. It was divine! Chocolatey, cinnamony goodness...and not too sweet. I also had a cranberry-orange scone, which was one of the best I've ever had! Crunchy-sugary-crust on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. Perfection! I will definitely go back, as it's a great spot to catch up with a friend, or get some work done using the free wifi. I enjoy trying out these little coffee shops, because while I like Starbucks, I like to see these little places flourish too. We've passed this area countless times, but since we had a little extra time, we decided to take a stroll in this general area. When we first entered the shop, we were greeted, but not warmly (IMHO); however, the same person who greeted us served us, and at this point we were treated warmly. I had an iced chai soy latte, which was as good as any I've had at other coffee shops. They have some outdoor seating and since the weather was nice (hadn't started heating up yet) we sat outside for a few minutes to enjoy our drinks and to plan out the rest of our stroll through this area. I recommend this place as a nice alternative to Starbucks. I feel like the prices are on average for a coffee shop. read more

Consistently great service and coffee to match and when I can make it down there I can count on that coffee to be great. I had the pleasure of paying a fine at the Englewood Courts recently and needed to grab a cup to go on my way out of town. This coffee shop is well located next to city center and lightrail station. In fact I'd say this area has the potential to be a def up and coming part of the greater city if it isn't already. The coffee shop itself is pretty typical and the coffee I got was good. I got a strange health type bakery product which I did not care for but then, win some loose some when you are experiemental. I already suggested it to a friend as a place to meet when down in the south broadway area but it didn't work out. I will be back. read more
