the setup of this restaurant is so cute upon entering & the hostess sat us immediately. She brought us waters, chips & salsa. The salsas go from mild to spiciest, & the most spicy one was definitely my favorite. Their menu had a vast amount of different options to choose from & I chose the spicy shrimp tacos. I will say, I'm glad I only got 2 because they were pretty big & filling! I enjoyed my overall experience here & will be back to try more

We haven't been back here since pre-COVID and pre-Michelin bib gourmand status, so I was excited to eat here! We came around 12:30 on a Saturday and I was shocked to see tables still open, only to find a huge rush of people coming right after us. Lucky timing on our part!! We got a nice corner table outside. The inside is fine but it seemed so dark and loud, even for the middle of the day, so I am glad we got the last table outdoors. However I think it caused us to be a bit forgotten towards the end of our meal - almost an entire hour went by between receiving our meal to receiving our dessert, just because no one came by to check on us so we could place our dessert order, and just the dessert took quite a while to come out. The visit started with great service though, the girl was super helpful when we asked about a plain chicken quesadilla for our kids. She explained we could order one with the fried chicken inside and no sauce and that would be the least spicy option for them. It came out and it was huge! Such a good size portion. We really enjoyed the queso fundido. Highly recommend adding in meat - we picked carne asada. It comes with corn tortillas, so this is another good option if you're with someone who wants something more simple. The menu seems more slimmed down than before - no elote in sight this time! The octopus taco was my favorite hands down. The pork al pastor had a generous amount of meat, but not nearly enough salsa to balance it out. The pork belly taco was another solid choice, loved the refried beans on that one. The fried chicken taco was okay, but pretty dry, so I'd skip on that. The corn tortillas seemed a lot thicker and drier than I remember. Next time I'd upgrade to flour! I really loved the flight of salsas and chips they bring out when you sit down - each salsa was absolutely the highlight of the meal! Overall solid meal but the lack of service towards the end was a bit frustrating. Would come back again for that outdoor seating again on a less busy day!

Pretty delicious food. We got 6 different tacos and the queso dip. The queso was good, but was really just melted Oaxaca cheese without seasoning. It solidified quickly and became very rubbery. The house margaritas are the way to go, don't upgrade. Tacos were good. Pork belly is obviously good, but the winners were the pollo verde and the octopus which surprised us. The rest were just average. Service was good, and salsa sampler was nice. Though 3 of the 4 salsas had NO spice.

Loved the outside seating area. The pork belly, combination, and shrimp mazatlan were my favorites. My husband is a birria hound, and currently touts nixtaco for having the best flavor profile. The tortillas are super hearty. We drove from Reno to eat here, and it was 100% worth it.

Service was good, the restaurant was clean, they're quick, and provides great service. I got the carne asada, shredded beef , and birria taco. They were all good but not like out of this world good. I would have no problem coming back here. Their salsas are delicious, I love the chipotle one. They have a great pineapple Fresca. I love that they also make their own corn tortillas.

You might have come across this restaurant on Instagram like many of us have. We decided to go and see what all the rave was about, and ordered the short rib, al pastor, spicy shrimp and birria tacos. On the side, added the rice and beans. These tacos are larger than your typical street taco. They come generously filled (lots of meat and ingredients) with each taco. The meat was tender and marinated nicely. We really enjoyed the beans! The rice was flavorful too. The place very busy on a Sunday. A taco ranges from $5 on happy hour but normally around $7 to 9 dollars. It's a bit pricey for a taco but their tacos are unique and delicious.

Tacos were not good...tried 3 different types all pretty mid. Also very expensive for what it is, very greasy and poorly put together tacos.

Amazing variety of high quality chef driven tacos with handmade tortillas, creative combinations, and really bold flavors. Go for the smoked pork belly taco and a pint of your favorite beer.

Nixtaco has been on my "to go" list for so long and we finally got the chance to go and try this Michelin guide restaurant. We walked in for 2 and got seated at a table right before the lunch rush. A bunch of people came after with reservations, but if u only have 1-2 ppl, the bar is also available for walk-ins. They give a sampler of the 4 salsas and chips for free when u get seated and they were all very different from one another (and the chips are refilled). For 2, we ordered the pork belly, combination, roadkill, and octopus taco with a short rib burrito. Given the hype around the restaurant, I think we came in excited and with high expectations but everything unfortunately fell short. Pork belly - the best taco out of the 4. The honey glaze came through nicely to complement the fattiness. The refried beans and scallions were a great pairing as well and definitely were needed to complete the taco! Combination - salty. The chicharron was soggy already due to the amount of aioli on top. The tortilla was soggy too and the aioli spilled over. There were only 2 shrimps and both were overly salted so when we took a bite with everything combined, it was just way too salty. I drank a glass of water to just finish this taco. Roadkill - the flavor from being sautéed with chile tomato and onion is great but between the Roadkill vs the pork belly taco, we would prefer to have a second pork belly. Octopus - also salty. cook on the grilled octopus is tender and not chewy at all! The sauce was good but everything was once again too salty to eat. Had to drink another cup of water to finish. Short rib burrito - we would recommend paying the extra 2$ for rice. The meat was tender and flavorful from the braise, it came together well with the rice and avocado. Overall, everything had unique flavors that we haven't tasted elsewhere. The tortillas and the tenderness of the meats are for sure the star standouts. However, $8 for a taco is pricey, some meats warrant higher prices, but the house tacos should be cheaper. For us to return, they need a lighter hand on the salt.

Stopped in for a much needed Taco craving, came on Sunday after 6:30 and was able to get 2 seats at the bar but reservations were around 1/2 hour. Amazing variety of salsas to try with their fresh chips! Got several tacos and enjoyed it with great company and of course some drinks to wash down with. Also enjoy this cozy spot and will continue to dine!

I saw Nixtaco on Triple D the other day and was surprised to learn it was on the way to another place i frequent so i stopped in. They have shaded patio dining which is nice and service was prompt. Chips and salsa were complimentary with 4 sauces to choose from and that was a step up from most mexican restaurants. I ordered three street tacos; shrimp, short rib and carnitas. All were fabulous. The carnitas was smoked and you can see the smoker on the patio. All served on blue corn tortillas. The protein was not skimpy even though they were street tacos. My only gripe was the cost. My three tacos and a coke was $30 plus tip. For lunch that is a bit steep. Tacos were 8 bucks each and since they are street taco size three is not an over abundance for a normal lunch. Also they have side orders of rice and beans but they too were oddly expensive. $7.50 for rice or beans. If you want both its $15. That's a little crazy. Normally places offer a platter option that comes with rice and beans but i did not see that on the menu. And i didn't see anyone eating them either so most people seem to skip that expensive side dish. Net net the food was great but the value is lacking. $8 each street tacos and a $5 coke you can't refill and it was just too expensive to make it a go-to spot for me. I will return when i want to treat myself.

Octopus, spicy shrimp, chicken mole, birria, Chicharrón, bork belly and barbacoa tacos!

Decided to have a date here with the hubby after seeing this place mentioned in a YouTube video. The mole was my absolute favorite! I would come back for that alone. Very good food! Need to try everything else next time!

Nixtaco is a modern spin on tacos with quality ingredients and bold flavors. Every time I'm in the area, I make sure to stop by. Their handmade corn tortillas are fluffy and thick enough to hold all the toppings, but pliable and light. Octopus 5/5* The best out of all the tacos we tried over the years. The octopus was super tender and perfectly paired with the peanut chipotle sauce. They don't skimp on the octopus and you get nice meaty chunks as well as the charred tentacles. The serrano infused butter added richness, but also has some serious kick to it! This taco was just perfection in both textures and flavors. Pork Belly 5/5* Wow! That glazed pork belly slab is good enough to be its own dish. It was fork tender, juicy, with an even ratio of meat to fat. The refried beans tasted slightly sweet from the glaze, almost like a mole sauce. The flavors were so well balanced.. sweet and savory. Nixtaco Combination 4/5* The taco was loaded with a mound of plump shrimp and chicharrón. The sprouts added a nice refreshing taste to all that savoriness. Although tasty, it's really messy and saucy. I also thought the sesame seed oil was too much and made the taco really greasy. Pollo en Mole 3/5* Just what the name says. Compared to the others, it needed something extra, veggies or something to balance out the rich mole sauce and soft chicken texture. Spicy Shrimp 2/5* Wasn't very spicy and too plain. 4 shrimps with grilled cheese was underwhelming. You could barely taste the caramelized onion. Although pricey, the octopus and pork belly tacos are worth every penny. They combination of textures and flavors are on point and will leave you satisfied. Not to mention the complimentary chips with four different type of salsas. Every salsa was delicious in its own, my favorite being the chunky salsa verde.

    Is there taco Tuesday special?

    not a chance...lol

Does they have another phone number? I keep trying to call their phone number and it sends me to a voicemail that is full.

A friend told me they had a taco sampler platter here a few years back but I don't see it on the menu. Is this still a thing? If it is, anyone know what you get, price, etc? Thanks

I've been there several times and not seen a sampler. But, try a few different tacos every time you go and you'll find your favorites!

I didn't want to write this review but I had a concern about something about the menu. I ordered the tequenos de pollo as an appetizer and the menu didn't say anything about it having cheese in which was perfect. I got the order and it in fact had cheese. I'm lactose intolerant and really sensitive to dairy so I asked about the cheese being in it. He confirmed it was in there, so I asked if they can just take it back- the waiter said no. I then asked if they can just take it off the bill because I couldn't eat it. He said no to that too. My husband doesn't eat meat and my son is lactose intolerant so it was going to be food wasted and money down the drain. I was pretty shocked because I've never been to a restaurant where they can't reasonable accommodate the guest. I then ordered my entree and the chicken was very dry and overcooked. I was not satisfied but I knew they wouldn't let me swap it for something else. Unfortunately I'm not going to rush to come back. The waiter was friendly enough but not accommodating. I get nervous when it comes to food allergies because now I know that some restaurants aren't disclosing food allergens which is actually not allowed. There are folks out here with life threatening allergies, so these places need to be careful. I'm glad I'm not one of those people but it's still disappointing.

It was more than enough food but we just couldn't stop eating because of how delicious it was! The sweet corn tamale was like a dessert, but paired with the tang and salt of the sour cream and cotija cheese it became a refreshing sweet and salty bite. It was a traditional corn dough and the texture was insanely soft, unlike most of the dry tamales I have had before. The pache tamale was truly the star. I had no idea what I was ordering, but I'm so glad that I managed to get this item in my order. The masa is made with potatoes instead of corn which gives it a smooth and melt in your mouth texture and a savory, addictive flavor. The pork inside is juicy and tender. Each bite is complete with the tangy pickled onions. The chuchitos were like the traditional Mexican tamales I am used to, with corn masa and stuffed with flavor and juicy chicken. The tamales are doused in a delectable red sauce and topped with cotija, sour cream, and more pickled onions. They were delightful. The garnachas were definitely the other star of this order. I had never had tostadas like them before, with flavorful and juicy chopped meat, salsa, and cotija. They are served with pickled veggies to add spice and tang, but what surprised me the most was the sautéed cabbage placed on top of each garnacha. The cabbage was so flavorful and soft, and despite all of the other sources of flavor it made itself known. The chile relleno plato was unlike what I am used to. Often, the chile rellenos my family eats are poblano peppers stuffed with oaxacan cheese, these were not that at all. In a way, this dish resembled more of a stuffed bell pepper, with a red pepper filled with chopped meat and veggies. I did get a piece of cartilage which made me a little wary when taking a bite but it was so delicious I couldn't help myself. The black beans it came with were flavorful and the dressing of the salad was amazing and reminiscent of a green goddess dressing. The service was amazing. The people were sweet and accommodating. I also really enjoyed the ambience even though I did order pick up. There are murals and bright colors lining all of the walls, giving the place a welcoming and fun vibe. Overall, with the amazing food, sweet faculty, and beautiful setting, it is impossible to go to this place and not feel an immediate lift in mood.

I took the reservation with the hopes we could get seated earlier. Their outside and inside dining rooms are about the same size. We arrived at 6pm hoping to get seated early and by 6:05pm the entire party was here and we were seated 10 minutes later at 6:15pm. We were seated a the first table out the side door against the wall. This worked great at I was able to put my package on the grown next to the wall, it was out of the way, but I could still see it so I didn't forget it. The fans were on over all the outside tables but ours. It was cool/warm enough to be comfortable in slacks and a T-shirt. No sweater was needed and I wasn't sweating either. The ice water was really nice. Soon as we were seated they laid us out menus. Shortly after chips, salsa, and bean dip were delivered. Then after a little bit the waters arrived. Our server asked for our drink orders while we looked at the menus. I ordered the Chile Relleno: Battered poblano chile stuffed with Jack cheese and red chile pork sitting atop black bean puree and serrano salsa. Topped with slaw and queso cotija. It was very tasty, but lacked cheese. I did not enjoy melty jack cheese oozing out of the pepper and that's the whole reason I ordered this dish. Tower Cafe in Sacramento makes it right. Their Chile oozes with melty jack cheese. The black bean purée must have melded into the Salas as I didn't see or taste it. It was topped with slaw that I enjoyed. It gave the dish a little crunchy. The red chili pork was very tender and I didn't notice any fat. I would not order this again My husband had the Salmon Machamantel Atlantic salmon, mole manchamantel, grilled broccolini, jicama slaw. I found the salmon to be very pleasant. It didn't taste fishy at all and I'm very sensitive to fish. The Mole sauce was non descriptive. The broccolini was cooked to perfection, not too cooked that it was limp and not undercooked so it's too firm. He would order it again. Cilantro Rice- All the meals came with the rice and it was very tasty. It was kind of odd that it was on a separate plate, but it made sense as there wan't room on our dinner plates. Presentation was lacking. We shared the Caesar Salad. It was very tasty, but awkward to eat as the pieces of lettuce were huge. They served us the entire leaf. Bathrooms- It was a small bathroom with only two stalls. If you need to wait it would be better to wait outside like I did. It was a bit awkward. The bathroom was well supplied and pretty clean. Flushing is an issue. The toilet doesn't have a lot of flushing power and it took my 3 flushes to get the seat covers to go down and not leave debris. Parking: We parked near Pet Food Express, which was close to the restaurant. It looked tight, but after we drove around we found lots of spots at the back of the lot. There is no close parking spots so if you have a hard time walking this can be an issue. Their downfall, the flies. There were so many flies swarming us that it was uncomfortable. I hope the other patrons were't dealing with the gigantic flies that were swarming our table and landing on our table and food. I searched other reviews and I'm not the only one who was swarmed by flies. Ambiance. It was ok, the music was loud and it was hard to hear each other as we chatted and caught up. I think there is more ambiance inside with the decor.

It's been so long since I've been to Lola's Lounge, that I didn't realize I'd been here before;…read morejust previously during their Elk Geove location. My girlfriend and I dined at Lola's Lounge off Broadway for the first time this past week. Once we arrived we were greated and aaked if we wanted to sit inside our outdoors, to which we opted to sit outdoors. The outdoor area is a nice spacious area, with a homely and simply vibe. Filled with vibrant decor, assorted plants and knick snacks. It such a chill vibe, which is great for couples dinning and large parties of families and friends. Our waiter was very friendly and extremely welcoming, and he made several suggestions for dishes and drinks; several of which we ended up getting. Drinks: Passionfruit Paloma - $16 Happy Cuba Libre - $8 Appetizer: Half Tostones Half Maduritos - $12 Main Course: Blackened Salmon - $29 PR Special - $22 Dessert: Flancocho - $11 The appetizer...cheap The drinks...great The food...amazing! The half Tostones and half Maduritos were really and inexpensive ($12). We loved the chopped garlic on the Tostones, and the Maduritos were simple as they should be. The PR Mule and Paloma were large in portion and really good as well. And the Blackened Salmon and PR Special were delicious as well, and I'll neber turn down more Maduros as the PR Special came with them as well. I'd originally wanted to order the Mofongo, but unfortunately they were out at the time so I'll have to try it the next time we go. Overall: Great food and drinks, great outdoor patio and dinning experience. Very friendly staff. We'll definitely be back!
