Stopped in for appetizers and my GF wanted a salad with chicken. I ordered spicy broccoli rabe, fried cauliflower and meatballs. She had a arugula salad with a grilled chicken breast. My food was good, not spectacular with the broccoli rabe being the strongest and the cauliflower being the weakest, due to cranberry sauce/juice that was put on it. It took away from the taste of it. The arugula salad had a tad too much vinegar in it. Great location in Hells Kitchen and the service was good. read more

A solid 4.5 stars. I love everything about Nizza. On their website it states Nizza is what the Italians call Nice, France which explains why they have socca, a Nice specialty. There are a bunch of mixed reviews on here so I guess you really need to stick with what you like since it seems some things are a hit or a miss. Nizza has outdoor seating and the atmosphere is chic with cute wine bottles along the walls. Their cocktails are delicious and strong, their free bread with olive oil and ricotta is delicious-that's saying a lot for someone who isn't a big fan of cheese. My friend has a gluten intolerance and when asked, she was given a special gluten free menu. We split the socca which is a thin chickpea pizza/crepe like appetizer that is crispy. It's topped with basil and some parmesan cheese. It was excellent and is now my new favorite food obsession. My other friend ordered the pansoti ravioli stuffed with spiniach, riocotta served in a parmesan walnut pesto sauce. Although it's something I would not really like, it had a really good nutty flavor and unique. My gluten free friend ordered Ziti Al Forno-oven roasted ziti with tomato sauce, burrata & parmesan. It was served in a cute oven dish and the top layer was nice and cheesy and crispy. I ordered the spaghettini which is angel hair pasta with baby shrimp, garlic and in a light pesto sauce. There was a generous amount of shimp and the sauce and pasta was soooo delicious with lots of garlic. I also ordered a side of creamy polenta which I could of done without. There wasn't much flavor and it reminded me of mashed potatoes. Nizza is more on the pricey side but well worth it. I highly recommend this restaurant and you must order the socca! Enjoy. read more

Great Italian food spot. The shining star (aside from the friendliest waitress!) was the mushroom and cheese pizza. The pasta with pesto I found to be quite good and massive, however my girlfriend found it to be underwhelming. We will definitely be back...I really want to try the cacio e Pepe! read more

If you want pasta, seafood and good pizza then Nizza is the perfect restaurant for you. I haven't a bad course yet. I mean everything is good. The drinks are on point. The complimentary bread is the perfect starter. If you love cheese the burrata is a must. The Sunday pasta with meatballs is so different and unique. What makes it different the meatballs has raisin in them! I know (GAME CHANGER). Their dessert menu is pretty good too. Inside is a great vibe. Cozy inside if your looking to do brunch, outside seating for the summer time, and candle lit dinners for the night. It's literally the Perfect place to eat at with friends and to go on a date. Since my last review, and since becoming vegan, I've come here a few more times and have successfully gotten the Funghi Socca without cheese so that it is vegan, and it is still delicious! The socca crust itself was a little dough-y and perhaps a bit too soft once or twice, but it was still good. I think the Funghi Socca is no longer on their gluten-free menu but they were happy to make it for me nonetheless the last time, so I was super happy about that! read more

Outside of that, the service was pretty great. Olive Oil w Ricotta & Bread - 5 Stars, really delicious and arrives upon being seated. The focaccia bread was out of this world! Calamari w Marinara - 4 1/2 Stars, marinara is really spicy, just a heads up. Cacio E Pepe - 4 1/2 Stars, definitely try this but add a little extra parmesan to this to make it perfection. Nizza came up on our radar in looking for heated outdoor dining spots. We had reservations so snagged the last overhead heater. We ordered some nonna's meatballs with delicious bread to soak up the sauce, a mushroom pizza that was awesome that had caramelized onions, creamy goat cheese and black truffle cream, some chicken parmigiana that had the homemade goodness taste, and lastly some calamari pizza that was pretty darn spicy. I came to Nizza for a dinner date with another couple, but will not be coming back. While the service and attention to detail by the staff was great, sadly the quality of food was nothing to tout. Having had Italian food at multiple restaurants around Manhattan I was disappointed by the lack of flavor for the food. The only saving graces to the meal were the pizza, which was flavorful and filling, and the calamari fritti, which was very well made. The remaining dishes, the linguine alla vongole and steak pizzaiola were sub par. It honestly pains me to give the place 3/5 because the staff are lovely and Nizza's ambiance is chic, but the food just did not live up to expectations. read more

Compared to other Italian restaurants the menu is limited though everything we had we really enjoyed. The kale salad was crisp and delicious , the pesto pasta was very flavorful. After dinner we sat at the bar for an after dinner drink, the bartender (unfortunately we can not remember her name but she was friendly, knowledgeable and a nice person to talk to). Cute little spot in the heart of Hells Kitchen! They have a nice outdoor seating arrangement with glass dividers, heaters, and French style patio seating facing west onto 9th avenue. I went for lunch and ordered a small Margherita pizza (12" $12) which was out of this world. Probably in the top 5 pizzas I've had in my life. I also had a beer ($8/bottle) and their house white wine ($9/glass). I didn't catch my servers name, but she was very attentive and kind. I even spoke with a manager there who was checking up on me and he was very kind, too. A great and refreshing experience both service and food wise! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area and will be returning myself, as well! read more

The Italian restaurant has such potential with ample outdoor seating, space, and a full bar but unfortunately the interior decor specifically the tables and flooring make it look like a diner. Service was extremely slow especially considering the restaurant only had about 30% of tables full. I would recommend the pizza (ordered the pepperoni) - the dough is extremely soft and cooked to perfection. The Cacio e Pepe pasta was a bit bland and needed a ton of salt for flavor. The food is great here! This is a delayed review. I dined here on Dec 10th and Chris was our server. He was great! I didn't read the limitations for the brunch drinks (I thought the expresso drinks were included) and unfortunately gave him a hard time when I was paying my bill that he didn't deserve. I don't live in New York but I go this restaurant whenever I visit. They do have gluten and dairy free options. I highly recommend this restaurant. The food and service was great. Came here to enjoy some thin crust pizza after stuffing myself with the deep dish in Chicago for a few days and this place did not disappoint. We had reservations but wanted to sit outside so we waited for a table at the bar. While there ordered a peach Bellini martini and it was the best idea. Perfect amount of sweetness with enough liquor for a kick. When our table was ready, we were escorted outside and our bill transferred- awesome. We got 2 pizzas. The funghi which was full of mushrooms and caramelized onions, but I do wish there was more goat cheese. Forgot the name of the second, but it was weird that they couldn't do half meat/half no meat. When I sat down I looked at the menu and ordered drinks. Starting with the cocktail, which was very well made and the two appetizers also very good (fried calamari and burrata) I thought it was gonna be a good dinner but those are the only things that awarded this place the 2 stars. The rest was downhill. After my appetizers were already served I heard the waiter ask the table next to me if they wanted some bread. I ordered it but it never came. it's hard to imagine a Italian restaurant that doesn't serve you bread (specially if the restaurant has pizzas on the menu) and I am more than happy to pay for good bread. The entrees came: Caccio and peppe: There was no sauce. It was a pool of oil, what looked like supermarket spaghetti boiled without salt bathing in the grease and some powder supermarket cheese dumped on top. It was a mouthful of bland grease with powder gritty "cheese". I had a few bites and left it. Branzino: the fish was ok, but also bathing in grease and no salt on the fish or the asparagus. I finished this one because I was hungry and it's not big. While I was already begrudgingly paying for this mess I saw the table next to me was offered a shaving of Parmesan and some fresh ground pepper (at least that would have helped disguise the mouthful of oil I was served) The entrees might have been bad but at least the waiter on the next table tried to make it a nice experience. I didn't get that treatment. After all this I wouldn't dare to face the desserts. read more

For the most part, Nizza is a really solid spot for Italian food, especially in the less-than-ideal Theater District. The restaurant layout isn't ideal for larger groups, so it's best to come with just a few friends if possible. I've been several times so I've been able to sample a fair amount of their dinner menu. From their starters, I'd definitely recommend their burrata, which is served on a pesto toast. While the creaminess of the cheese is inconsistent, the pesto toast was definitely a group favorite, and the presentation is lovely. The fried calamari isn't quite as crispy or browned as I'd prefer, but they're seasoned well and delicious with a side of marinara. The bulk of their menu covers the standard pizza and pasta - which is also what I'd recommend you focus on as well. The pizzas we tried were cooked inconsistently as well; several pies had very crispy crusts, which I didn't enjoy, but for the few that were cooked to that perfect, just right chewiness, it really made a difference. I enjoyed the Parma Pizza, which was topped with prosciutto di parma, tomato, mozzarella and basil, and the Broccoli Rabe Pesto. I found the Coppa, which was topped with spicy salami, to be too salty, although I did enjoy the flavors. As for the pastas, the simple Spaghetti Pomodoro is a solid bet, as is the Cacio e Pepe. The pasta was cooked to the ideal al dente and the sauces complemented them perfectly. I personally found the Penne Carbonara to be a little too rich and heavy and the Pappardelle pasta strands rolled a little too thin. There are definitely hits and misses across the menu, but for reliable Italian food in a reasonable price range, Nizza definitely fits the bill. read more

Stopped in here on a Saturday night for a causal, Italian dinner in Hells Kitchen. Another part of the appeal for coming here is that one of my friends has Celiac disease, and they have an entire menu devoted to gluten free options. We each ordered a glass of wine and then burrata appetizer. They brought it to us with both gluten free and regular bread, so all of us could enjoy it. For dinner, I went with the mushroom pizza. It was definitely heavy on the mushroom, but tasted delicious nonetheless. Ambiance is pretty standard. The windows were all opened for the Summer, which was nice. The tables are close together, which is a drawback. Service was awesome! Our waiter was so nice and accommodating. He gave us plenty of recommendations and made sure we were enjoying the meal every step of the way. Overall, a very good and affordable Italian food option in Hells Kitchen. Went here for three of my friends birthdays and was honestly very disappointed. The waitress did not offer us tap water so when we learned that the water we had been drinking was 7 dollars a bottle we were disgusted. I ordered cacio e pepe and was disappointed with the outcome. The pasta was over cooked, lacking salt, Parmesan and pepper (Pepe). I doctored it up with some stuff at the table, I just wish I didn't have to. The tiramisu was very good. The service was pretty bad. Our waitress started nice but was clearly annoyed with the age of our party. We were all 20-22 year old people of color. Our food took around 45 minutes after ordering to come. Our check took 1 hour after finishing to come. The waitress did not ask us in the beginning how we wanted to do the check and was upset that we wanted to split it. She was so upset that she sent over another server to take care of it for us. Fortunately a table opened just in time to let us walk here from the St. James Theatre). They have a regular menu, and an ample gluten free menu. The food was hot and good. Everything was absolutely over priced and substantially underwhelming. The food was priced like a $$$$ restaurant, and tasted like a gas station meal. Ordered the Chicken Parm, thought simple enough, any Italian place should have a good Chicken Parm, NOPE! Looked like they just went to a bodega, asked for a chicken cutlet and just threw a spoonful of sauce and even less cheese, and just put it in the microwave for thirty seconds. It comes with spaghetti with sauce too but honestly any store bought sauce has more flavor than here. Drinks we watered down and over priced. Came here on a Sunday night and it was pretty crowded but luckily since we had made a reservation, we were seated promptly. The restaurant has a beautiful open layout with some outdoor seating. The server was very polite , attentive and friendly. The drinks were good and the food was great. We ordered two pizzas and a side of fried calamari . The quantity was good for the price and the service was fast. Only issue we had with the food was the 4 cheese pizza we ordered was a little on the saltier side.
