They don't honor their prices! Change them without any notice and say sorry about ya. Went to order take out added our total and according to their prices order should've been $65 for our family of 5 but get to the restaurant and are told the order is $102!! I said uh that is not what your listed menu prices add up to and when I questioned the total I was met with very a rude lady who said we can raise our prices whenever we want! This is one of my favorite Chinese places. It is a "strip mall" type of place, so keep that in mind when choosing. It isn't going to be the best authentic Chinese food you ever had, but dang...it is good. It is essentially a take out only type of place. Very limited seating inside. But trust me, it is worth eating in your car if you have to :) Price is great. Food is fast. What more could you want? Very friendly service with everyone I have dealt with. read more

Pretty solid, not spectacular. We shared 2 General TSO and 1 Beef Curry and egg rolls for our family of 5. It gave everyone a very full plate with plenty left over. The beef curry had lots of vegetables and was quite good. The Tso came with some broccoli, but the chicken was hot, crispy and tasty. The egg rolls were just ok, we'll probably pass next time. Indoor dining was not nice. They still have a plexiglass barrier up (seriously everyone), 2 small tables and plastic ware. Stick with carry out and you will be happier read more

I love this plAce. Family run for 20 years. I watched their little girl grow up. Amazeballs! The food is cooked right in front of you// and it's pretty standard storefront Chinese-- i guess my primary tip remains the great fried chicken wings. Whole wings! Huge! No sauce but two of those wings beat anything KFC has to offer. I should add that the family did a remarkable job during Covid19. Great retrofitting! Very good care with the social distancing. For a small town Chinese restaurant this is 10/10! The food is always fresh and hot!!!!! The service is friendly and gets you to your food as quick as possible. They have taken Covid safety very serious and kudos to them! I believe the same family has had this restaurant for years now! And it shows! They work hard to make each order the best it can be. I have to give them credit, they sure do have great food! I have had so much Chinese take out in my life, that it all starts to really taste the same after a while. Now obviously their selections are Americanized Chinese cuisine. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that because that is the style restaurant they are. They don't claim to be authentic Shanghainese or Chonqing. So I won't be knocking anything off for that. When it comes to food, they offer very generous portion sizes. Their food is very fresh and doesn't have that overwhelming corn starch flavor. It is obvious they use some, as most Chinese cuisine does. The service is very fast and the staff is very friendly. We ordered food to go and waited in the restaurant for out pick up...I think it took maybe 20 minutes for it to be ready. My mother says they have the best Crab Rangoon she has ever had and I think their Pepper Steak is delicious. Huge props to them for serving high quality food. They are literally the only Chinese take out restaurant in the area and they don't rest on their laurels at all. read more

Great for a "I dont eant to cook tonight" take out. The daughter is a sweetheart and very personable when taking orders. The food is always tasty. From time of order to time.of pick up is about 10-15 min. I have never had to wait on an order when I arrived. The dumplings and crab rangoon are personal favorites. I eat at No. 1 Chinese Restaurant more often than anywhere else in town. If their primary offerings were not Americanized Chinese fast food I might go five stars, but it's still the best Chinese food in town. I noticed some poor reviews by people who got the lunch special. Well, one of the rules when you go to a restaurant is, never get the lunch special. More than likely it's food the restaurant really needs to sell. So yes, the lunch special rice isn't so good. I really had no complaint about the quality of the other components in the lunch dishes but I'm sure it varies. Now every time I go there I get a huge platter of food and I eat all of it. Today I got a huge platter of food (a large meal plus egg roll) and two extra veggie rolls, from their Special Combination Platter menu. No problem. Plate was clean when I finished. For the price of a large burger and fries and a soda at other fast food joints in Greencastle, No. 1 Chinese Restaurant gives you a soda and a good meal full of fresh vegetables, good rice, good sauce and a cookie at the end. It's hard to produce a meal for that price if you use farm fresh ingredients, and I know that many of the vegetables are factory cut and bagged but so far I've not seen too many that are canned or frozen. I would guess the peas and carrot chunks in the fried rice are canned or frozen, but this place is run on a budget. Shrimp has to be the frozen type, it's all you get around here, and probably meats and things like vegetable and egg rolls are bought as a frozen product. I will defend these people because they are professional and run a good shop with fast service and dependable quality. If the guy at the counter says ten minutes, it often comes out in five. I see lots of Asian people come in there for lunch. With the vast array of offerings on the menu, I can't as yet speak for all the meals, but I want to try the House Special dishes to see if they work a little harder on those. People often tend to buy the same sort of thing a lot, at restaurants like this, and get bored. Diversity rises with price, I will hope. If not I will go back to the cheaper meals. I know these are restaurant people because when we happened upon them by accident this summer I asked the guy at the front counter how long they had been there, and he said, Since 5 this morning. It was one p.m. then. If you work those long hours and are just breaking for lunch for five minutes, to eat a fast bowl of rice and go back to work, it's a restaurant. Open seven days a week and on Christmas. I think he said they'd been open eleven years when he did understand my question. If you're up at five you are tired by one, it takes a minute to answer questions. The good soy sauce is on the tables in the Kikkoman bottles, the stuff in the packets is the corn syrup type but still ok. read more

Decent selection but the food is low quality and darn near tasteless. The fried rice is hard and bland to say the least. Chicken is mostly fried dough with a speck of meat somewhere inside, if you can find it. Sweet and sour sauce is thinner than water. Several hot items were cold. The plates are sized for preschoolers so you have to make multiple trips to the buffet to get what you want. The same with the child sized drink cups. Better fill at least two or three or you will never stop running back and forth for food and drink lol. Do not go for lunch break or you will go back tired ;) read more
