NOA left me with mixed feelings. There were definitely some highlights, but the service made what should have been a quick lunch feel much longer than it needed to. We stopped in for lunch and, despite the restaurant not being busy, waited quite a while before anyone greeted or seated us. Once we were settled, we decided to take advantage of their Lunch for 2 for $40 special, which includes two soft drinks, one appetizer, and two entrées from a small selection of about five choices. It's a solid value, especially if you're looking for an affordable lunch downtown. The star of the meal was, without question, the hummus. It was incredibly fresh, creamy, and packed with flavor and easily the best thing I ate. I would absolutely come back just for the hummus. Unfortunately, my chorizo tacos didn't live up to the same standard. They were noticeably dry and lacked in flavor. On the other hand, my dining companion ordered the turkey BLT and really enjoyed it. It also came with a generous serving of fries, which was a nice surprise. Service was where the experience really struggled. After our hummus arrived, our server disappeared, leaving us without side plates until we finally got up and grabbed them ourselves from the host stand. We didn't see her again until our entrées were delivered. Looking around the dining room, it didn't seem like we were the only ones experiencing this. Several tables were waiting long stretches for service, and multiple guests stood at the host stand without being acknowledged. Ironically, the staff seemed more focused on resetting empty tables than taking care of the guests who were already there. With only a few occupied tables, it was surprising that service felt so stretched. Despite the disappointing service, I'd consider coming back during happy hour. If the hummus is on the menu, it's an easy order, and I'd be interested in trying a few more appetizers since that was easily the strongest part of our meal. read more

Everyone's food looked delicious (especially the chicken pot pie) and everyone seemed happy. The lemon lavender spritz was bubbly, bright, and tasty. The miso butter noodles with shrimp was rich and luxurious. The first bite had a minor spicy kick; the flavor was great. The espresso with the affogato was a little bitter for my taste, but the ice cream was creamy and had a wonderful vanilla flavor. The ambiance was great and we had a wonderful time. But on their website you can get validated parking a few blocks away (about 2-3 block walk). The restaurant is located on the first floor right up the elevators (from underground parking). The menu is eclectic. We tried the chips & queso, chicken wings, and wontons for appetizers. For our mains we had the bibimbap, chicken pot pie, and Noa burger (wagyu burger). The ambience was modern and our server was attentive. Perhaps I would have appreciated a more expansive menu and for some reason there was no desert (kind of odd for a restaurant). Messy too, as wings are, so wouldn't order that on a date or eating with colleagues. They let me try both ranch and blue cheese sauce for the wings. Ranch seemed generic and not exciting, I preferred the blue cheese - in fact I put some in my burger for an on the fly blue cheese burger. Salad listed heirloom tomatoes but they were cherry tomatoes that may have been heirloom but not the chunks of bigger tomato I expected. No greens in a panzanella just tomatoes, small mozzarella balls, bread, onions all covered in a pesto sauce - the preserved lemon was a nice fresh touch, I wish it was more accented with some fresh lemon as it was way in the background. The servers are nice and professional and friendly - they deserve generous tips - the ones I saw really worked hard. Interior is darkish but pleasant. They have a nice table for 12 if you want to bring a group, plus booths and other tables. Look is mostly beige and grey and walnut. We had a mix of menu items, someone ordered the short rib special, a few vegetarian, and a chicken Caesar. The waitress was, well, a check-in. The sweet potatoes, Brussel sprouts and sauce made it such and incredible flavor. Texture on the salmon was perfect. Perfect on the salt level too. This place can cater to any party too. We started off with the chicken wings, the artisan cheese plate and a Caesar salad and the beet and feta salad. for the entrees, we ordered the Sweet Potato Gnocchi, the Braised Short Ribs and the Birria Ramen. We also ordered a couple of sides with the fries and the squash. The were out of a couple of the menu items so we couldn't try them. The drinks and food came out fairly quick and definitely had a good presentation around it. The wings were hot and crispy with tender chicken on inside. The Caesar salad was nothing fancy but a decent salad. The cheese plate was good with a variety of both soft and hard cheeses. The beet and feta salad was probably the most balanced and nuanced dish of the first round. Fresh, sweet and tangy with the feta cutting through it all. The entrees were the most disappointing. The short ribs were tough and not soft as you would expect from an establishment of this caliber. The birria ramen lacked flavor. The consommé was light and not flavorful. The noodles were cooked to spec but just overall a lackluster dish. The gnocchi was decent and the only entree I would consider getting again. The place is clean and happening and the decor is modern. The service was less than stellar but they were also very busy so I can understand them being maybe a little short staffed. We didn't pick Noa for corporate event, even though it's in IDS center, but the vegetarian-friendly menu. It was first time for all five of us, and everyone had a great time. We started with hummus. The roasted carrots, cauliflower and feta made it very special. Even though I am not a huge fan for hummus, I loved it! The two vegetarians had veggie tacos, summer spinach salad, and herb French fries. One of the non-vegetarians ordered Ricotta Gnocchi. I'd give 5 stars for all the vegetarian options. The five of us shared three desserts. The chocolate cake was a big hit with its moistness, pleasantly rich but not overwhelmingly sweet. The ricotta donuts coming with three sauces, are crispy and delicious. As Sebastian ice cream lover, you now can sit in a much nicer place to enjoy your favorite neighborhood ice cream. Our team went here for lunch and enjoyed sitting at one of those large oversized booths that definitely gave a swanky plush feeling. I ordered the shrimp tacos, and our waiter Ashley said she would recommend a side since the portion was small for a meal. I took her advice and ordered the side of the cauliflower, which was very generous and included some very good tasting sweet potato chips. Everything tasted really good. Came to NOA for happy hour after a failed attempt at a different place in the same area. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. NOA is in the middle of downtown, so it did take forever to find parking, not that there wasn't any available. There are plenty of parking garages in the area, we were looking for a meter to park at because they are cheaper. When we walked inside, I immediately loved the decor. It is very chic, and the vibes were really grown and sexy. Service was on point. We barely made the happy hour but was able to put an order in on time. They had a great selection of wine and cocktails, as well as a decent spread of food. Nestled near the atrium of the IDS building, we enjoyed a meal on their terrace which faced the stage. I chose Roasted Pear Salad and added chicken over lunch during the workday. The flavors in the salad balanced beautifully and the textures kept me going back for more. There was brightness from the blackberries, creaminess from the goat cheese, crunch from the prosciutto, and sweetness from the candied nuts. Went to NOA before the Timberwolves game last night to grab dinner. It's located near Nicollet Ave, so be aware that parking is tough. We used the IDS ramp and it was actually only $5.00 for weekend parking, so plan to park there. The restaurant itself looked really nice inside, which included some Christmas decorations. Overall nice but pretty forgettable meal at Noa. From a food standpoint, there were no real standouts. The best part of our meal was the excellent service provided by the host and our server. Location feels a little corporate - right in the middle of a bunch of businesses or banks downtown and looking out at an inside atrium. We started with tuna tartare and crispy tofu, the latter being the highlight and really delivered both texture and flavor. I wound up having the Cobb salad because the mains seemed a bit standard, which was good, but and also heard the mushroom risotto was a winner from the three people that ordered it at our table. I have to change my review due to an incident that occurred when I revisited this spot last week. I had reservations for 5 pm; when I walked in, the hostess/waitress, Nicole, noticed us at the door but proceeded to do everything else but greet us for quite some time. I was trying to be understanding that she was perhaps too busy. However, I realized that wasn't true when another group of people who happened to be white walked in. Nicole then went up to me and my friend and asked us had we been helped, but of course she knew we hadn't been helped because she walked past us a million times. It was quite obvious that Nicole only addressed and sat me and my friend down because she knew she had to do so before she helped the new group, and of course she helped the new group immediately after we were sat. I'm sorry, but I felt blatantly disrespected and discriminated against in that moment. This of course made the rest of my visit uncomfortable. The food was still really good though, so I can never give this place 0 stars because of food and atmosphere, but I would hope that we can have common respect across the board for everyone. read more

The service was quick and friendly despite being busy in the bar area as well as a few seated groups of 10+. I texted some coworkers to hurry down and had a great gin and tonic, which we paired with high noon seltzer and a large happy hour serving of nachos as everyone showed up. There were plenty of whiskey and bourbon options for those more discerning members of the happy hour. The bar area is bright open and clean, and the staff are all knowledgeable about the menu. My friends & I went to noa for a happy hour after work. We walked in to a fairly empty restaurant with blown speakers above the table we were sat at. To start, the happy hour prices online were different from the printed menus at the restaurant. Our server came over and told us about all the things they were out of: sushi rolls, some sort of meat, whatever. We weren't planning on ordering any of those things, no big deal. When my friend tried ordering the Crispy Tofu, surprise! They were out of that, too. We decided to skip food & ordered drinks. I got the Coronado (Empress gin, rosemary, pear, lemon, tonic). It came & was definitely a pretty drink; the first sip wasn't super impressive; it was bitter & not very flavorful. I kept drinking & the flavor improved a bit but I wasn't blown away, especially for a $16+ cocktail.
